If you are like most entrepreneurs you strive for perfection that what we do. But how does striving for perfection hold you bad from making progress? I know from personal experience that I have run into this wall many times throughout my life. John Beaman and I go deep on issues that small businesses run into every day. As you listen to this episode you will hear how I run into many issues recording this interview. This was the first interview using my new Rodecaster mixer and new Rode Podmic and my new software Logic. I could have edited the hell our this episode and made it perfect but I wanted to use this as an example of how shit happens every day that we have to deal with and we will get through it. Enjoy the conversation. Make sure to leave your comments and share. Meet John Beaman John grew up in southeast Wisconsin and moved to Texas as a young adult where he currently serves as President of The McGraw Council Membership, Inc., also known as The McGraw Council. Beaman attended Liberty University for his undergraduate degree in Business Administration: Economics where he graduated summa cum laude and dually enrolled in Liberty's Master of Business Administration: Leadership program where he graduated with high distinction. During his MBA, John also attended Leadership Rockwall and joined the Class of 2018 in their community project of building computer resource stations for three nonprofits in Rockwall County. During his time in college, John helped start, build, and sell a small landscaping business based in Rockwall County and upon graduating from the MBA program at Liberty University, he began working in the merchant services industry with Merchant Masters, a family-owned business, because of his passion for helping others, especially in an industry where there is much promised yet little provided. John played a pivotal role in the organization's success and presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex as the company continues to expand across the country. After a successful two years in DFW, John was asked to serve as President of The McGraw Council, a nonprofit organization built to educate, serve, and unite small businesses across the United States. The McGraw Council seeks to provide education with actionable content, serve the small business community through various aspects, and unite the small business community to a level that has never been seen before so that all small businesses across the United States may be heard, have a voice, and achieve their American Dream. John resides in the City of Heath, a small city in the DFW metroplex with a history dating back to 1840, where he also serves on the City Council. John was first elected to the city council in 2018 and is the youngest recorded member of the city council in the city's rich history. Additionally, John volunteers in his spare time with various nonprofits in the North Texas area, especially Rockwall County, and is very active in the Rockwall, Rowlett, and Royse City Chambers of Commerce (where he sits on their board of directors) as well as other business groups in the Lake Ray Hubbard area. Wow! One of the best interviews of 2021 with Jamar Jones. We talk about everything from the Milwaukee Bucks, Fear, keys to success, and yes we go deep on his new book Change Your Circle Change Your Life. Jamar's key takeaways: You can't do it all by yourself. Prioritize every day.  It's ok to leave a circle. 3 ingredients of self-awareness. A bit more about Jamar Jones: My path has been nothing but easy. From my decision-making and the search of finding myself, I've had many hardships in my life that I've overcome. I've created many things from just a thought and once I put my mind to something there's nothing that can stop me. Anything's possible. Looking back I've learned that there were elements to my success, one of the main ones was the circle I was in and how to get into other circles. I've applied this methodology play my personal life and in business. Also, I am the owner of a communications agency that focuses on branding sales and marketing. I have built this company from the ground up and want to share my tactics philosophies and business growth with organizations leaders and decision-makers. Why do I do it? Because when I needed a helping hand others were there for me and the circle that I was able to create molded the very success that I have today. Holding in this knowledge and life experiences would be selfish. I want to give you the keys to walk through the door to change your life and your business. Whether you own a small business, an entrepreneur, or starting a new business marking and sales are crucial to survival. Lisa dives deep into what it takes to be strategic in your business with your marketing. Key takeaways from Lisa You don't have to do everything in marketing. You don't need to do tens of thousands of dollars. You need to become a subject matter expert. It's OK not to work with everybody that you meet with. More about Lisa Raebel & Rebel Girl Marketing, LLC I have been in the sales and marketing game for over 25 years and it has been a wild ride! Marketing strategies today can get shaky if you do not start with a solid foundation of understanding of your primary audience, what resonates with them, and knowing where they hang out. Taking the sales perspective into consideration when developing marketing strategies is key to successful campaigns. It comes down to the basics: KNOW | LIKE | TRUST Rebel Girl Marketing was created to help business owners who know they need marketing yet have no idea where to start. Helping others get out of their own way to see how great they are and then finding a way to tell their world is what I love to do each day. First of all, I love talking about marketing... almost as much as my husband likes to talk about golf! :-) My goal is to get the audience to step back and look at their business, asking themselves if their message today matches their current goals and offerings. Asim Khan has a story that is full of challenges but he chooses to make a life-changing transformation by starting a new business in a very competitive market of healthy drinks he created https://drinkzyn.com/ (Zyn). Key takeaways from Asim Khan: Start now don't wait. The biggest failure in life is doing nothing. Overcoming fear. Taking the jump to become an entrepreneur. Asim Khan is co-founder of ZYN. Previously he spent nearly 20 years in finance industry (investment banking & private equity). He received a B.S. in Accounting & Finance from Marquette University. Asim is married with 2 boys and a girl. https://drinkzyn.com/ (ZYN) comes from the word “zyndagi,” which means LIFE for over 1 billion people in South Asia. The https://drinkzyn.com/ (ZYN) “aha” moment happened during a family trip to Pakistan in November 2016 with our parents. After the long plane ride over, our father who is diabetic, suffered from sudden and severe diabetic nerve pain in his foot, to the point where he couldn’t walk. Our aunt made a paste with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turmeric (Turmeric) powder and olive oil and applied it to our father’s foot. Within an hour, his pain was completely gone. Natural healing has been a part of our Eastern culture for over 5000 years. Our family has used ancient, natural remedies for everything from colds, to indigestion, to reducing inflammation. We decided https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/306981#nutrition-of-turmeric (Turmeric) was something that we wanted to share with others. Upon our return to the US, we began to further research Turmeric and discovered its immunity-boosting and inflammation-reducing healing power comes from a tiny compound called https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/top-10-evidence-based-health-benefits-of-turmeric (CURCUMIN). We began crafting drinks in our kitchens with https://drinkzyn.com/pages/faqs (CURCUMIN), combining it with PIPERINE to boost absorption. We tested the recipes on ourselves and noticed our everyday aches and pains went away and we felt rejuvenated. We were onto something we felt needed to be shared with the world. So we kept crafting ZYN and introduced the recipes to our family and friends, then to local grocery stores and hospitals, and from there our https://www.amazon.com/ZYN-Holistic-Wellness-CURCUMIN-Inflammatory/dp/B07M9WS5K5/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=zyn&qid=1604159773&sr=8-11 (amaZYN) journey has led to nationwide expansion of https://drinkzyn.com/ (ZYN). In the end, health is not just about outward appearances, but rather it’s the holistic package. We are all about promoting balanced health and wellness lifestyles that incorporate the endless goodness that nature provides in a socially, ethically and environmentally responsible manner. Founder John Vuong started in SEO near the beginning. Back in 2010, he was working with Yellow Pages and the company was offering SEO strategy. However, he found that the supposed experts at that time didn’t understand why some companies ranked above others. In fact, he felt that the offers were damaging his relationships with small businesses because they weren’t getting the results they paid for. John (https://www.localseosearch.ca/) cares a lot about the small businesses he works with, especially family businesses. That’s why he began to focus on understanding search engines, their rankings, and how companies can benefit from a variety of digital marketing platforms. My clients come to me when they are: Ready to stop spinning their wheels and get on track to set and accomplish all of their sales goals. Betting on themselves by pursuing entrepreneurship full-time. Looking for a trusted sales mentor and guide to help them level-up and feel at ease with the process. Aware that it’s time to get support to get out of the income plateau and sales rut they’ve been in for years. Meet Celia: As a kid, I can recall the stress my mom endured when unexpected expenses came up. She, and many others like her, didn’t know how to generate income outside of a 9-5 job. She was a smart and savvy businesswoman who was sought out by many for guidance and answers. A University education helped her to gain confidence and climb the corporate ladder. There were always limitations around how far she could climb and the rate at which she could grow. From a young age, I demonstrated entrepreneurial qualities and a sense of intuitiveness. My parents did what they could to give me entrepreneurial experiences. There were parts of my personality that didn’t fit a picture of conventional living. As a result, I experienced years of emotional discomfort because I felt like I never fit in Deep inside, I always had a sense of knowing that gave me hope to move forward and find my own unique path. In my late-twenties I discovered that my entrepreneurial spirit was one of my gifts. For the first time in my life, I felt free. Celia Faye Meisel is a Business Strategist & Sales Trainer. We started out by helping our family and friends and will continue to spread the Light to increase longevity and natural healing, globally. Let us help you heal. Light Ninja Warrior Brooke As a youngster, I was quite active, participating in multiple sports and extra-curricular activities. After participating in four sports in high school (Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Track & Cross Country) and Basketball intramurals in college, I didn’t stop. Although I wasn’t a collegiate or career athlete, sports were my life, and my social life as well. Working out hard felt good, despite a habitual sprain or broken ankle. I was rough on my body back then, without fear of growing old or long-lasting pain. Fall, break, heal, and back at it again. Repeat. Year to year in one form or another I injured myself from said activities. For as long as I remember, I always wanted to be a Marine Biologist. I loved to fish, mammals, and swimming in the ocean. I wanted to dive and discover new things under the sea (Little Mermaid hopeful). One of my goals and dreams came true! I applied to and went on to graduate from UCSC with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. Passion for cellular level health began during my biochemistry days at UCSC. Could there be a way to bring the love of marine life and the excitement of cellular biology together? Perhaps I could discover a cure for Cancer in marine natural products, like sponges or kelp! How cool would that be? The need for alternative natural products with therapeutic effects was looming, and more and more side effects of day to day chemical exposures were haunting me. My young adult years were spent living life to the fullest, traveling, adventuring, and livin’ it up! I was not the best to my body, but knew in the back of my head, that somehow I would figure it all out. Fast forward to 2007 car accident that changed my life forever. I sustained a serious neck injury and my endocrine system went into shock. My body suffered a major blow and I was told by three different surgeons that I needed a neck surgery to reduce the pain level and attempt a “normal” life. Neck surgery?? Yeah right, not me. I purchased my first Light device (APL) in 2008 and avoided invasive neck surgery. Within one month, I weaned myself off of all prescription drugs. Within six months, I was back to running again, working out, and playing basketball. The Light helped my body heal itself. I avoided invasive surgery and got my life back, pain-free!! This opened my eyes once again to the demand for natural remedies and medicines for all to heal naturally, from what the Earth provides. I insist on using the most natural face and body topical products and limit my toxin and chemical exposure by only washing with naturally sourced ingredients. I eliminate chemicals from our diet and make a huge effort to live a non-synthetic lifestyle that will increase longevity and increase sustainable health for years to come. Why Do Some Brains Enjoy Fear? with Laura Dixon

Hey local listeners, Laura Dixon and I dive deep into dealing with anxiety, and the scared brain. Laura shares her story of how she leaves the corp world to pursue her passion for helping others. Laura Dixon is a life & weight loss coach as well as a former CPA who helps other high achieving, ambitious women lose weight for the last time. She has lost 50 pounds and has kept it off for years and now helps other women become naturally thin without any diet, weird trick or gimmick, but simply by helping them change their relationship with food. One of the most common problems her clients come to her with is dealing with stress and anxiety because that often manifests in overeating in order to cope. She helps women manage this in a new way so that they experience not only a significant reduction in the stress and anxiety but they are then also well equipped to deal with those emotions when they arise. In addition, when she helps women lose weight, she doesn’t just teach them all of the tools but she helps them rewire their brain so that they no longer have the desire to overeat. Now, more than ever she believes these life coaching tools are so critical to managing not only stress and anxiety but all of the uncertainty in these times, regardless of whether someone struggles with their weight. Laura's key take ways: Dealing with severe anxiety Why our brains like to be scared Dealing with uncertain times and that manifests in eating, drinking, numbing out (and not working on our businesses Creating value for our clients in these uncertain times The purpose and goal of mindset work and life coaching – not what you think it is (i.e. it is not to be happy all of the time) Why it is so easy to overeat, especially in these times If you like this episode share it with one person you care about. She was in search of a better way. She used her knowledge, passion and experience to build a leading-edge business model. The intention was to create a business that provided a safe place for women - especially those in a vulnerable position - to find their paths, find their voices and find the financial confidence they need to lift themselves out of seemingly hopeless situations. Since starting the Women’s Financial Wellness Center, after a 10+ year career in the financial industry, she has helped alleviate financial vulnerability for thousands of women. In addition to being the Founder & CEO of The Women’s Financial Wellness Center, Rhonda is also a professional speaker. While her platform is women’s money wellness, it is not just about money. Her topics include: assertive communication, boundaries, leadership and overcoming financial myths. Her speaking experience includes: GE Healthcare, UWM Women’s Leadership Conference and Marquette Law School. In addition, she has appeared on Fox6 News, Real Milwaukee, and Morning Blend. Rhonda's Story Growing up with very few financial resources and a challenging family dynamic, I knew there had to be a better way. Call me an old soul, but I knew my life had significance and that God would use those situations and experiences for good. In 2002, I entered the financial industry and began teaching in higher education. I found my passion for empowering women by sharing my knowledge, developing curricula, studying industry trends, and hosting focus groups. It was no longer just theory—it was reality! Women were hurting, and they looking for someone who could help guide them through the financial maze of divorce. I realized I needed to create a model that was unique and supported the entire person. That was relational, not transactional. Twelve years later, I united my passion for education and financial empowerment and opened the Women’s Financial Wellness Center. I wanted to create something different: a smart, close-knit community where women could get fully-independent, relationship-based coaching and resources to help them make confident financial decisions. We’ve helped hundreds of women restore their confidence and belief in themselves. Seeing these women become stronger individuals and entrepreneurs is my mission and opening the Women’s Financial Wellness Center is one of the best things I have ever done. Tony Meister is the owner and founder of Chameleon Communications, LLC, a communications company that offers creative marketing with the ultimate goal of profitability. Tony comes from a lineage of entrepreneurs including his father who ran one of the most successful Midwest advertising agencies in the 80s and 90s. His unique background in business leadership and management, coupled with his communication background, offer a distinct advantage to any entity looking to communicate their offerings successfully in the marketplace. Tony's Key Take Aways : Challenges businesses face when deciding to create video Fact vs Story-based video People - Process - Technology Using your iPhone vs using a professional After a series of career experiences, in 2014 I started Chameleon and set out to pursue what I love to do which is telling stories with video. In 2019 I decided to expand Chameleon and create a digital agency that would positively influence the world by igniting brands and fulfilling people’s dreams. Creativity was sparked when I was young watching my Dad shoot T.V. commercials with various celebrities and professional athletes. Despite all of Dad’s experiences, it is ironic that my vision for Chameleon was really birthed out of failure. I left a successful Fortune 500 career in I.T. to help start a new venture that ultimately toppled. Much of that failure had to do with ineffective marketing. I love this quote from Henry Ford who said, “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” So Chameleon’s story is born out of adversity. It is what has given me the passion to see brands catch fire and overcome the marketing challenges many face today. I have a select team of creatives and specialists who I have either worked with in the past at other companies, or who I have known and collaborated with for years. Mostly this team consists of independents who specialize in their craft and have their own focused freelance firms. These are people that are the best at what they do. It is the most exciting time of my life and career right now. I am able to bring the best people together to achieve extraordinary results for our clients. I count it a privilege to bring this to companies local and nationwide. – Tony Meister (Founder & Chief Lizard) Connect with Tony Meister Web:       www.chameleoncommunications.net (http://www.chameleoncommunications.net/) Phone:    414.559.1077 Email:       tony@chameleonliz.biz (mailto:tony@chameleonliz.biz) YouTube: Chameleon YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFSHyRqh0vZhzo3S6fr1gaA) Twitter:  twitter.com/TheChiefLizard (http://twitter.com/thechieflizard) Local First Podcast is Powered By: EXACTA Corp Think Possibilities Think EXACT (http://www.exactacorp.com/)   Support this podcast

It doesn’t hit you quickly and it doesn’t leave quickly. So you don’t really get an energy crash from the energy alone. Most of the time, it’s because you were exhausted before and the caffeine kind of revives you. And then you’re crashing because you’re going back to being how tired you were before. Or you’re crashing because there was a lot of sugar in the drink. Sponsors (https://myexactamundo.com/WP1/) Think Possibilities Think EXACTA   Support this podcast

This is the season of giving, and I am excited to bring you a conversation I had with Josh Scarver of DWYD Gives, Toy and Book Drive. The toy and book drive got its start eight years ago when he and his wife hosted a party and asked the attendees to bring toys. At that event, they collected 40 toys. Over the last eight years, DWYD Gives has since grown to over 20 different business locations and has collected over 20,000 items to help children in the city. They’re children who have been victims of abuse and neglect in our city of Milwaukee. It’s a problem that most people don’t talk about. And in the eight years that me and my wife have been doing the DWYD Gives Toy and Book Drive, we’ve collected over 20,000 items to help these children in the city. #DWYD Toy & Book Drive: Milwaukee couple making a difference in the lives of children in the Milwaukee area. A husband and wife team that in their spare time (outside of full-time careers) create positive change. Over 4,000 children come through the doors of the Milwaukee Child Advocacy Center (MCAC) annually and they rely heavily on the charity and kindness of others. The MCAC is a hospital-based child advocacy program through Children's Wisconsin bringing a specially trained team of professionals to aid children. The donated items help provide security and reassurance to victims. Each child and teen that visits the center is offered a toy and a book to make a stressful day a bit more comfortable in an unfortunate situation. #DoWhatYouDesire lifestyle brand headed by Joshua Scarver spreads a message of following your dreams, inspiring others and giving back. Every year he and his wife, Bekah Lustig join forces, for their annual #DWYD Toy & Book Drive to prove that anyone can take an idea and create an effort to help their community in a positive way. “I have realized in the 8 years since this has begun, is that it feels good to help and it feels even better to inspire others to take action”. Joshua’s true passion in life is giving and inspiring others to join in helping those who are less fortunate. The drive started as a small event collecting 40 toys and books. As of last year, the drive has grown to over 5,000 donations that help bring smiles to the faces of the forgotten children in our community. “It is my dream to keep growing the #DWYD Toy & Book Drive to even greater successes and bringing more of the community and its businesses, organizations and leaders together to bring positive change to our city of Milwaukee and beyond.
