In this episode, Mark Clifton, Mark Hallock, and Dan Hurst discuss an article from Jason K. Allen about how his preaching has evolved, and why young preachers' preaching should evolve as well. The sermon outline means less to me now. More Bible and fewer books. Fewer personal and family illustrations. More intentional about preaching Jesus. It's Thursday, May 11th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Ugandan Muslims strangle Christian A Christian in Uganda remains hospitalized after Muslim extremists attacked him last week. Shaquru Ndifuna was an Islamic teacher before coming to faith in Christ in January. News of his conversion spread. In response, extremists tried to strangle him and beat him unconscious. Ndifuna said, “They forcefully entered into the house … trying to force me to confess that Jesus is not the Son of God. … I refused to renounce Jesus as the Son of God.” Please pray for our suffering brother in Christ. 1 John 5:10 says, “Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning His Son.” Zimbabwe wants gold-backed currency Zimbabwe is moving to a gold-backed currency. The African country issued gold-backed digital tokens on Monday as a means of payment. The country hopes to stabilize its currency inflation and provide an alternative to the U.S. dollar. Zimbabwe has faced multiple cases of hyperinflation since the country's former dictator, Robert Mugabe, destroyed the value of the Zimbabwe dollar in 2009. Trump's Title 42 immigration policy ends today In the U.S., the COVID-era immigration policy known as Title 42 expires today. The policy allowed the Border Patrol to turn away tens of thousands of migrants coming through Mexico. Now, officials are expecting a surge of migrants across the border. President Biden said the situation will be “chaotic for a while” as his administration sends 1,500 troops to the border. On Monday, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott said the state is deploying a new tactical border force to curb illegal immigration. Tucker Carlson is back Tucker Carlson is back . . . on Twitter. Fox News fired the conservative commentator last month. Carlson announced Tuesday he would relaunch his program on Twitter. He called the platform the last big one remaining in the world that allows free speech. Carlson also called out mainstream media as thinly disguised propaganda outlets. CARLSON: “The best you can hope for in the news business, at this point, is the freedom to tell the fullest truth that you can. But there are always limits. And you know that if you bump up against those limits often enough you will be fired for it. That's not a guess. It's guaranteed.” More Bible-believing United Methodist churches leaving On Saturday, a regional body of the United Methodist Church approved the disaffiliation of nearly 200 congregations in Alabama and Florida. The churches represented about 40% of the regional body. On the same day, the UMC Western North Carolina Conference approved the disaffiliation of nearly 200 churches. As of Tuesday, almost 3,000 congregations have left the mainline Protestant denomination over its debate on homosexuality. Many of the departing churches support God's definition of marriage and sexuality. No doubt many are moving to the Global Methodist denomination. Planned Parenthood exploiting gender-confused people A new report from Live Action News found that Planned Parenthood is getting into the business of mutilating the bodies of gender-confused individuals. Between 2014 and 2019, the number of abortion mills that also offered cross-sex hormone injections increased from 26 to 200. Planned Parenthood is now the second largest provider of transgender drugs. The impact of COVID on generations' spirituality Dr. George Barna and the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University released their latest study on the spiritual impact of the pandemic on different generations. Millennials, ages 18 to 38, were already estranged from Christianity and did not change much during the pandemic. Gen Xers, ages 39 to 57, actually moved away from Biblical perspectives and practices. Meanwhile, Baby Boomers, ages 58 to 76, moved significantly towards Christian beliefs and behaviors. Elders, ages 77 and older, demonstrated the greatest spiritual stability and even experienced an increased inclination toward becoming more Biblical. American Bible Society founded 207 years ago today And finally, today is the anniversary of the founding of the American Bible Society. Protestant Christians established the organization on May 11, 1816 in New York City, 207 years ago. Important American leaders served as Presidents of the Bible society early on. These included Elias Boudinot, former President of the Continental Congress, and John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Initially, the American Bible Society focused on getting Scripture into the hands of Americans. As time went on, it extended their work to foreign nations. By 1912, the American Bible Society was publishing Bibles in over 80 languages. And today, the organization publishes millions of Bibles and has funded translations in hundreds of new languages in recent years. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, May 11th in the year of our Lord 2023. The Awakening Hour: Expanding Consciousness for Unlimited Potential
In previous episodes, we've been following the Quantum Sessions of my client, LA. The previous session, Episode 4, combined with this episode, cover the second quantum session I conducted with LA. Unlike our first session, which was covered in Episodes 1-3, this session and future sessions were conducted online. In the last episode, we listened to the first half of this session, and LA spoke of surface forgiveness, how to heal a hardened heart, walking in love and forgiveness, why it's important to speak your truth, living a perfect life and what that means. We continue that session now, and enter where LA is receiving much wisdom from his guide, Michele. He learns that we must all “sit at our table” and in doing that we set an example for others so that they may also sit at theirs. We can encourage them to do so with a smile, an acknowledgement and simple kindness. More Bible verses are discussed and broken down to be considered from a different perspective. According to LA's guide, Michele, spiritual and energy are one in the same. When you are in high spirits you are in high energy and vice versa. In this session, LA was able to speak with is Grandma who had passed about a year prior to the session, and learns that contrary to what he believed, she was never holding him back. She tells him to go do what he is called to do. Go be love and light. We are reminded that everything is connected. We are reminded of our silver cord and that we are always free to “go”, free to travel within the dimensions. On that note, Michele tells us that we are currently meeting in the space between the dimensions. We are advised that we must be specific in our questions and in our intentions because they think differently and interpret differently. This idea is illustrated by the biblical Sermon on the Mount. We are also reminded that everything, every thought, every action, is recorded in this quantum realm and that we may access these “recordings”. We learn that the destination for our session was inside of us. And that our soul can be likened to a ball existing inside of us. That when we leave the physical, during dreams or at other times, this ball is attached to a silver cord for our return. As an example, the image is described as the shape of a human (more of an outline) with an orb of light in the belly. That's why it is said that all answers are within. This half of the session is where we explore the symbol of a lighthouse, and learn that we must BE the light so that others can find us in their darkness. We also receive a lesson on how to use mirrors to peer inside our soul. This is the half of the session where LA holds space with his guides, his ancestors and MLK, Jr. Let's cut in now on the second half of our second session already underway….

THE THESIS: It's a Satanic Party, so of course they are entirely consumed by lies. Their victims can no longer see the truth. THE SCRIPTURE & SCRIPTURAL RESOURCES: Proverbs 10:18 He who conceals hatred has lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool. John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. How should we respond to the shooting in Uvalde, Texas? God calls us to pray. To pray for our world, to pray for people to be saved, and to pray for those grieving. The Bible says to “weep with those who weep." (Romans 12:15) My advice would be to stop pointing fingers, pray, and ask God “what is mine to do?” What is it that He wants us to do? 3 main points from this video: 1. It's okay to be sad.2. Ask yourself: "What is mine to do?"3. What is Biblical Justice? Well, first, what is Justice? Webster's 1828: 1. Justice; right. In practice, equity is the impartial distribution of justice, or the doing that to another which the laws of God and man, and of reason, give him a right to claim. It is the treating of a person according to justice and reason. The Lord shall judge the people with equity Psalms 98:9. With righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity Isaiah 11:4. 2. Justice; impartiality; a just regard to right or claim; as, we must, in equity allow this claim. Wikipedia 2022: Justice, in its broadest sense, is the principle that people receive that which they deserve, with the interpretation of what then constitutes "deserving" being impacted upon by numerous fields, with many differing viewpoints and perspectives, including the concepts of moral correctness based on ethics, rationality, law, religion, equity and fairness. The state will sometimes endeavour to increase justice by operating courts and enforcing their rulings. So now that we have a framework of what Justice is, where do we get the values of right and wrong? Is it game theory based social contracts? Or is there an over-arching standard to which we all appeal when we say something like “napalming babies for fun is wrong”? How about killing off minorities for the promise of a healthier future? How about preventing those with particular beliefs from receiving medical care? From where do we get our standard? Well, obviously you can tell from our conversation so far that the Bible is the standard we call upon. So let's look at what God calls Just and how He conferred the duty of carrying out Justice to Man, historically. We also will see where Justice and Law became perverted. Genesis 2:16-17 “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 3:8-24 hold the first trial in all of history. We see the examination of the defendants and witnesses by Judge, Jury, and Executioner. In Genesis 9:5-6 we see the Lord handing over the Judicial, Legislative, and Executive branches to man.” nd surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.” In Exodus 18:19-22 we see what would later model for the American Judicial System: ”Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.” In Exodus 20-23 we see the Lord lay out part of what would become the Mosaic Law. This is what was used by Moses, Joshua, and the Judges all the way up to Samuel. Samuel's sons were wicked men. They perverted the Lord's system and ultimately died for it. However, before these sons of Samuel died, the Children of Israel cried out for a King. This led to the rule by a man, and not directly by God. Now, with man in between God and the people, tyranny ensued. We see Saul, David, Solomon, Rehoboam, and the rest suffer from their humanity. And the people suffered as well. The United States of America is a unique system, in that our Founding Fathers attempted to revert, as much as was possible, to a somewhat Exodus-like form of Government. This government, they warned, would only work with citizens who held the Judeo-Christian Ethic. John Adams stated in a 1798 letter to the Massachusetts Militia: “Avarice, Ambition, Revenge, or Galantry, would break the strongest Cords of our Constitution as a Whale goes through a Net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” The return to a Godly society with the freedoms and liberties of Christ were at the core of our system. Today, we see an enormous amount of crime and our measures of prison time have failed to produce the clean streets we would like. Sure, the streets are safer when one bad guy is taken off of them. However, how did God choose to deal with crimes? Capital Punishment, Restitution, Corporal Punishment. Capital Punishment: Deuteronomy 22:25 m“But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:” Restitution: Exodus 22:7 “If a man gives his neighbor money or goods to keep for him and it is stolen from the man's house, if the thief is caught, he shall pay double. Corporal Punishment: Deuteronomy 25:2-3 “And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number. Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.” Now, many have said that they believe that we should abolish prisons. Where are prisons found in the Bible? They are not, unless we are talking about the prisons of the Gentiles who oppress the Israelites. Prisons are a man-made concept. It is thought that the first prisons were constructed in Egypt or by some of the Mesopotamian nations surrounding Israel. http://www.prisonhistory.net/prison-history/history-of-prisons/ So here is the question: Why do we not follow God's plan for law and order? Sure, some things are different than the Levitical Law days, but the principles are similar. And before you go on to site Christ and His forgiveness of sins of various people, Christ is God. He is the ONE person who had the authority to do that (also the only one who would know if this person had actually repented). So why have we changed the way we meet out Justice? Jeremy Bentham was the philosopher responsible for the modern incarnation of British and American prisons. His primary motivation was that he was against the Death Penalty. https://www.crimemuseum.org/crime-library/famous-prisons-incarceration/history-of-imprisonment/ Bentham was the Father of the Utilitarianism Movement as we know it today. He believed that: “actions are morally right if they tend to promote happiness or pleasure (and morally wrong if they tend to promote unhappiness or pain) among all those affected by them” https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjwq4SgpuX2AhU8j2oFHRJ6DesQFnoECAIQAw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.britannica.com%2Fbiography%2FJeremy-Bentham&usg=AOvVaw0-6DiUdiSNK_byPWSbvG9q So here we have an example of man going his own way. Now that we have seen that this system does not work as well as we would have liked it to, some are suggesting that we reduce prison sentences as articles like this one do: https://www.prisonlegalnews.org/news/2020/oct/1/new-study-shows-tough-crime-generation-spent-more-time-prison-despite-falling-crime-rate/ However, there is no indication that the lawlessness would go away and as we see in places like Southern California, reduction in consequences only increases crime. https://www.poynter.org/reporting-editing/2022/why-has-shoplifting-been-out-of-control-since-the-pandemic-began/ The issue is not a change in man made policies, but a return to God's policies. One will be less likely to steal if one has to pay restitution. One is much less likely to murder if death is the result, and certainly they will not be able to murder a second if death is the consequence. Now, some will immediately recoil at the mention of the death penalty, that is okay. The death penalty has also suffered at the hands of “man's wisdom”. Deuteronomy 17:6 should have been applied on all of those cases where faulty forensics or other circumstantial evidence put innocents to death: “On the evidence of two witnesses or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness.” Follow God's standard and things will work as well as possible. More Bible verses dealing with Justice: Who is ultimately sovereign over Justice? Ecclesiastes 3:17 “I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.” Hebrews 10:30 “For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.” What does God say a society should do concerning Justice? Hosea 12:6 “Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.” What affect should Justice have on the righteous, what about the wicked? Proverbs 21:15 “It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.” Proverbs 24:24-25 “He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him: But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.” Whose job is it to maintain this order? Romans 12:9 “Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.” Romans 13:1-7 “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.” What does the Bible say about partiality? Leviticus 19:15 “You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor nor defer to the great, but you are to judge your neighbor fairly” 1 Timothy 5:21 “I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of His chosen angels, to maintain these principles without bias, doing nothing in a spirit of partiality.” Deuteronomy 1:17 “You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not fear man, for the judgment is God's. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”

Marissa Streit, CEO of PragerU, is Mark’s very special guest on the podcast today. A Los Angeles native, Marissa moved to Israel at a young age, where she completed her primary education and served in military intelligence of the Israeli Defense Force. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from UCLA, a master’s degree in Education and Non-Profit Management from American Jewish University, and joined PragerU, one of the most respected, go-to resources for conservative ideas, in 2011. The passage she has chosen to discuss with Mark today is Exodus 20:7. Marissa begins by reciting the passage in both Hebrew and English, and focuses on its translation of ‘carry God’s name’ as the basis for the meaning it holds for her. She and Mark then explore why this is one of the most important of the Ten Commandments, the significance of these Commandments having been given outside of Israel, and the current occurrences of people doing horrible things in God’s name – the one unforgivable sin. They also examine people’s need for meaning in their lives, as well as the dangers of creating God in our image and pursuing ‘Godly causes’ of our own design. Marissa finishes up by sharing the lessons about humankind that she has learned, leading to a further discussion of God’s love of diversity in people. Episode Highlights: · Marissa’s reading of the passage in both Hebrew and English and its meaning for her · ‘Carry God’s name’ · Why it is one of the most important commandments · The significance of the Ten Commandments being given outside of Israel · People doing horrible things in God’s name in current times · The one unforgivable sin · Craving a craving · Creating God in our image · The dangers of substituting yourself, your cause, or your belief for God · The lessons that Marissa has learned about humankind · The four different personality types – eagles, parrots, doves, and owls · God’s love of diversity Quotes: “You cannot use My name to do something bad.” “Possibly one of the most important commandments and that is because if people allow themselves to use God’s name to do evil, what kind of a world are we going to be living in?” “God doesn’t want us to do horrible things to other people in His name.” “These are rules for humanity, not just rules for people of Israel.” “That’s the one unforgivable sin – to use My name to do evil.” “Just within the first few commandments, we’re given a true…prediction of what happens in an atheist or a world that moves away from the Ten Commandments.” “Everybody yearns for God.” “You should not replace God with literally anything.” “More Bible and more Torah, specifically, is good for everybody on both sides to just remind each other that you should not do evil things to other people in the name of what you believe is a Godly cause.” “Can you imagine what a beautiful community we would have if we could just say…’I may not agree with you, but…respect you…and I can learn from you’?” “A little more humility on all sides will bring us together and will bring us peace.” “Everyone I see, I can learn from.” “All humans need different perspectives always in their lives.” “Understanding that humans function in such different ways has been very helpful to me.” Exodus 20:7 You shall not swear falsely by the name of the LORD your God; for the LORD will not clear one who swears falsely by His name. https://www.sefaria.org/Exodus.20.7?lang=en&with=all&lang2=en Links: The Rabbi’s Husband homepage: http://therabbishusband.com/ Mark’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/markgerson?lang=en The Rabbi’s Husband Newsletter contact: daniel@therabbishusband.com

What is your perspective on counseling?Do you feel like it carries a stigma in your circle? That only weak people go for help?Does it feel like a lack of faith to seek out counseling . . . that maybe you just have to pray more? In the last decade of my life, I've experienced tremendous healing from the Lord and radical transformation through the support of a number of counselors. Each one spoke into my life at a time when I could not find the way forward. More prayer didn't work. More Bible study didn't work. More self-control didn't work. By God's grace, I took the advice of a dear friend and got myself into counseling. I discovered that my issues were trauma-related and that healing was indeed possible. I learned how to invite God in to heal my heart. With great and godly support, I walked through forgiveness. I unearthed my identity in Christ. I gained insight into how to cultivate healthy relationships.Yes, I am a great advocate of counseling as much as I am for coaching. But I'm still in shock as to how many people see counseling, and even coaching, through a warped lens. So on this episode of the More to Be Podcast, I invited my friend and licensed psychotherapist, Peggy MacQueen, to join me in debunking the myths of counseling. Peggy's passion is to come alongside those who are hurting and looking for solutions to life’s issues. She believes that one needs to stand on Truth and see oneself as God sees them. In her private practice, Thrive Coaching and Counseling, Peggy uses an eclectic approach to therapy after assessing the needs of the client. She works with clients seeking healing from grief, loss, sexual trauma and abuse, along with anxiety, depression, communication within marriage and family relationships, and teen & young adults. This episode is packed full insight and truth as we debunk the myths around counseling, coaching, and healing that leads to personal, emotional, spiritual, and relational growth. If you're ready to take the next step toward growth with the support of a counselor, you can certainly reach out to Peggy or visit Focus on the Family to find a counselor in your area. If you are not sure if you need coaching or counseling, complete this form and we will be in touch. 5 Myths That Keep Us from Going for Counseling #1 . . . Myth: Counseling is for those who are weak and "crazy.". . . Truth: Counseling is for those choosing to be brave and grow emotionally, spiritually, and relationally. #2 . . . Myth: Psychotherapy is just for those who have mental illness.. . . Truth: Psychotherapy is for anyone! You can seek counseling for:personal growthcommunication skillsrelationship conflictrecovering from loss and griefhealing from trauma of any kind at any time in your lifestruggling with anxietystruggling with an eating disorderstruggling with sadness or depressionstruggling in your faithand more . . . #3 . . . Myth: Counseling makes you dependent on your therapist.. . . Truth: A therapist goal should be that you don't become dependent on them. #4 . . . Myth: Talking through problems with a total stranger won't solve anything.. . . Truth: Talking can lead to clarity of what happened, how you feel, and what you can do moving forward. The Lord can speak to you in counseling and through a therapist. #5 . . . Myth: A therapist will judge me or bring about shame or have me focus on what my parents did or didn't do.. . . Truth: A therapist job is to be shame-lifter and support you moving forward toward healing with forgiveness and establishing healthy relationships. More Bible study. King Saul tries to kill David in 1 Samuel.
More Bible, more better? More Bible, more problems? At BLV, neither of these seem right to us. History has proven that “more Bible” is not always better if we’re talking about uninformed, irresponsible readings of the Bible that don’t consider culture and context. But throwing it out as antiquated and worthless leaves on the table the Bible’s unique ability to connect people with the God Jesus showed humanity. Kyle helps us find a middle ground by teaching us about the differences between modern American culture and the cultures of the Bible.
