The Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church share common roots, but over time, theological shifts and leadership structures have created key differences. In this episode, Pastor Jeff sits down with Reverend Greg Kronz to break down the Anglican Church's hierarchy, beliefs on communion and baptism, and why many churches have chosen to leave the Episcopal tradition. If you didn't listen to Part 1, be sure to check it out for more background on this conversation. Here's What We Discussed:01:05 - Anglican Church Hierarchy Reverend Greg explains the leadership structure within the Anglican Church, from the Archbishop to bishops and dioceses. He also shares insights into the role of GAFCON, a global network of Anglican bishops, and its impact on the future of the church.06:16 - Lay Leadership and Church Governance How do Anglican churches function at the local level? Reverend Greg discusses the role of rectors (pastors), lay readers, and vestries in church governance, and why he prefers the title of "pastor" over "priest" or "father."07:21 - The Anglican View on Communion Unlike the Roman Catholic belief in transubstantiation, Anglicans view communion as a symbolic but deeply meaningful act. Reverend Greg explains the theological basis for this belief and how communion plays a central role in Anglican worship.08:54 - Baptism in the Anglican Church Do Anglicans baptize infants or only adults? Reverend Greg breaks down the differences between infant baptism and believer's baptism, emphasizing that baptism does not guarantee salvation but serves as a covenant commitment.11:39 - The Role of Scripture in Anglican Theology Anglicanism holds that Scripture is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, but interpretation must be done within the context of its genre and overarching biblical themes. Reverend Greg discusses how Scripture is central to Anglican belief and why many Anglicans have distanced themselves from the Episcopal Church.13:00 - Clerical Vestments and Worship Structure Why do Anglican pastors wear certain robes? Reverend Greg explains the meaning behind clerical vestments and how church traditions, such as colors and garments, have evolved over time.17:08 - What to Expect in an Anglican Worship Service From liturgical readings to music, Anglican services blend structure and tradition. Reverend Greg describes a typical service, including the use of hymns, contemporary songs, creeds, and sacraments. We love your feedback! If you enjoyed this episode, leave us a review. Meet Archbishop Steve Wood, who will be invested this week as Primate of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), a province established and celebrated by Gafcon. In this extended interview, Archbishop Steve shares intimate insights into his daily devotional life, his emotional journey through his near-fatal COVID-19 illness, and his personal experience of leaving The Episcopal Church to join the ACNA. General Secretary Paul Donison speaks with Archbishop Steve, as he candidly describes his deep fellowship within Gafcon, and his personal experiences of becoming Primate.
Scott MacKenzie hosts John Turner, CEO of Gafcon Digital, to discuss the application of digital twins in data centers and the construction industry. Turner emphasizes the inefficiencies in current construction processes due to silos and the need for a digital building lifecycle. He highlights the importance of digitizing construction through BIM and integrating data from various sources like reality capture. Turner explains the benefits of a digital twin, including predictability in safety, cost, and schedule, and mentions that buildings consume 41% of the energy in the US. He advocates for a transformational approach to organizational change management to achieve these efficiencies. Action Items [ ] Send paper on digital twins and building energy usage. [ ] Reach out to John Turner at jturner@gafcondigital.com to discuss further. Outline Introduction and Overview of Industrial Talk Podcast Scott MacKenzie introduces the Industrial Talk Podcast, emphasizing its focus on industry innovations and trends. Scott highlights the importance of the podcast in educating and collaborating within the industrial community. The episode features John Turner, CEO of Gafcon Digital, who is a leading voice in the world of digital twins. Scott encourages listeners to visit the Industrial Talk YouTube channel for additional slides and information. Introduction of John Turner and Gafcon Digital Scott MacKenzie welcomes John Turner to the podcast and asks for a brief introduction about himself and his company. John explains that Gafcon Digital focuses on developing a digital building lifecycle to improve efficiency in design, construction, and operations. John emphasizes the inefficiencies in the current design-construction-operational process due to silos and legal enforcement. Gafcon Digital targets serial builder-owner operators, particularly hyperscalers, retail, and life science sectors. Standardization and Efficiency in Construction Scott and John discuss the concept of standardizing construction processes, using McDonald's as an analogy for optimized design and building processes. John compares the construction industry's lack of standardization to the automotive industry's use of lean techniques. Scott and John explore the potential for standardizing data centers and other large-scale construction projects. John introduces the idea of digitizing the construction process to create a foundational data model using BIM (Building Information Modeling). Digital Twin and Reality Capture John explains the importance of digitizing the construction process to create a foundational data model using BIM. He discusses the role of BIM in integrating 2D, 3D, cost, schedule, embodied carbon, and document properties. John introduces the concept of reality capture, including 360 cameras, photogrammetry, laser scanning, and LIDAR, to bring real-time data into the design process. John differentiates between a visual twin and a digital twin, explaining the real-time monitoring and control capabilities of a digital twin. Challenges and Organizational Change Management Scott and John discuss the challenges of shifting the construction industry to a more efficient, digital-twin-based approach. John emphasizes that the transformation has more to do with organizational change management than technology. He explains the need for serial builders to change their processes to scale efficiently, especially for data centers. John outlines the three-step evolution of the construction process: planning, design, construction, and operation, with
Meet the Venerable Gideon Ilechukwu, who is about to become Gafcon's newest bishop, and who will soon lead Gafcon's newest diocese. Thirteen years ago, he planted a church in Manchester, England, which has now grown to 39 churches with 52 ministers… and on October 15 we will form this fellowship into a diocese called ‘Anglican Missionary Congregations (AMC) Europe', which he will lead as bishop. General Secretary Paul Donison speaks with Gideon, as he shares with us how he planted this diocese from scratch, and how Gafcon provided vital support and resources for gospel mission throughout the UK and Europe.
We sit down with the Revd Jodie McNeill, Gafcon's Global Operations Manager, to discuss his vital new role in the day-to-day ministry of Gafcon. As an Anglican pastor and longstanding advocate for the Gafcon movement, Jodie understands the need to both "throw a lifeboat" to Anglican churches whose diocesan leaders have abandoned the truth, as well as the importance of supporting churches that remain within their troubled dioceses. General Secretary Paul Donison explores with Jodie their shared passion to see Gafcon engage and equip everyday Anglicans in standing firm for the gospel today.
A Word From The Lord Our Ministry for Delivering the Lord's Word A Word From The Lord (AWFTL) is Dr. Foley Beach's personal volunteer media teaching ministry. AWFTL has distributed Biblical teachings, from the Lord's Word, for more than twenty years. AWFTL's ministry message is in a Gospel context rooted in Biblical Christianity without an Anglican emphasis. Our ministry objective and focus is to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . .” (Matthew 28:19). To this end, we use several content distribution mediums including radio, podcast, audio and video. We invite you to read on for more information about our ministry, but I want to encourage you to contribute by clicking HERE to donate now. You are making a secure donation through our partner the National Christian Foundation -- NCF (or you can mail checks using the information at the end of this overview). Your prayers and financial support keep our ministry in fulfilling Jesus' Great Commission. AWFTL is staffed by a volunteer Executive Director and a volunteer Treasurer. The other staff members are part-time employees. Additionally, AWFTL obtains economic and intellectual leverage through a long-standing cadre of partners (e.g., iHeart Media, Microsoft, PodBean, Salem Media). Our distribution platforms are grouped into broadcast, email, and podcast. Across all platforms, AWFTL makes contacts with sinners by communicating the Lord's Word through partners, on behalf of AWFTL, using AWFTL's media messages (i.e. Dr. Beach's sermons or a One-Minute Messages) directed to the broadcaster's/distributor's targeted markets – our contacts. From the perspective of our distribution partners, AWFTL is considered as an advertiser providing a thirty-minute sermon or a one-minute spot targeted through demographic and behavioral segmentation, using traditional terrestrial radio and targeted direct digital audio. Emails of the Daily Devotional are provided, on a free subscription basis through MailChimp, to over 2,500 recipients daily. Additionally, 2,500 listeners receive full sermon emails on Sunday from Dr. Beach. Podcasts are published daily using the Daily Devotional, and podcasts provide full sermons on Sunday. We use PodBean as our podcast publisher to gain access to eight publishing platforms (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, Google). AWFTL's premise, through all its distribution platforms and channels, is that the volume of contacts matters to His Kingdom in fulfilling His Great Commission. Therefore, AWFTL depends on Romans 10:17 in that each contact with the Lord's Gospel Word can begin or continue their personal “faith journey” because “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”. Our Results AWFTL is achieving its mission to share the unchanging Word of God with both believers and nonbelievers. Across all our channels (e.g., radio, podcasting, email, Internet), we now average more than 15 million annual contacts in more than 70 countries at an efficient and effective cost of $0.008/contact. Consider that, every day, our One-Minute Message has the potential of contacting 40,000+ people -- Absolutely amazing! Dr. Beach traveled globally as Archbishop and Chairman of GAFCON (i.e. Global Anglicans representing more than70 Million members), and he met people from all walks of life who often sought him out to tell him how much our Daily Devotionals meant in their lives. For example, one American has developed and leads a global small Zoom group in which one person is assigned to coordinate Zoom discussions each day of a week. They use the Daily Devotional audio and its “Scripture References” as the base for their joint discussions and prayer time with the Lord. This Zoom group has grown to more than thirty participants, from several countries across the globe, with daily time zone scheduling being a challenge! Our Opportunities to Address the “Gospel Gap” About two years ago Archbishop Beach delivered a sermon in Nigeria to the GAFCON Primate leadership addressing the “Gospel Gap” (i.e. people who have never heard the Gospel, have heard the Gospel but are indifferent to its message, or have heard the Gospel and hate God's message and those delivering His message). Most in the Gospel Gap resist exposure to the Gospel by avoiding church attendance and/or hearing traditional faith-based audio/video media. The Gospel Gap constitutes about 38% of US adults today, and the Gap is growing. AWFTL conducted research to identify those who occupy the Gospel Gap and why. Ultimately, we developed five “Life Story” sentences which capture the reason for which people became and/or remain Gap occupants – for example: “I am alone and so confused with no trustable sources for love or the truth and no objects for my love; and the government and churches don't help.”. We believe that AWFTL has a somewhat unique opportunity to leverage our infrastructure, capabilities, and Dr. Beach's more than fifteen years of weekly sermons to extract targeted One-Minute Messages, using AI, to address the Life Stories. To this end, these derived messages, from existing content, can be delivered directly into the Gospel Gap using evolving targeted direct digital audio platforms. Dr. Beach's sermons resonate with the Gospel Gap occupants and their Life Stories. To test our thesis in 2022, we partnered with iHeart Media to target Atlanta demographic segments in the Gospel Gap. During 2022, iHeart Media streamed 6,600+ One-Minute Messages every day for 12 months. Incredibly, 97.4% of the recipients listened to the entire message. iHeart Media told us that a “listening rate” of about 86% would be considered successful in secular targeted digital advertising. Additional levels of initial listener engagement will be provided through AI Natural Language Processing (NLP) Q&A discussions to extend their Gospel message understanding. Please Support A Word From The Lord, Inc. AWFTL is supported by the prayers and contributions of its friends, and AWFTL does not receive financial support from churches or denominations. We need your support for both today's successful baseline ministry and, hopefully, to pursue opportunities for directly addressing the Gospel Gap. Will you help? Now is the time to do it! Roadmap for a reset communion - with Paul Donison and Glenn Davies The chair of Gafcon Laurent Mbunda and chair of Global South Justin Badi Arama are to meet to work out a roadmap for the resetting of the Anglican Communion. Global South Anglicans have endorsed the Former Sydney Archbishop Glenn Davies call for the communion to be reset on biblical foundations. The Global South have called on their Primates to work with the GAFCON Primates Council and other Orthodox leaders to reset the communion on its biblical foundations as a matter of urgency. In other Anglican news. The Church of England General Synod is meeting in York. They are considering whether to press go to move towards the next stage of endorsing their bishops' proposals for same sex blessing. Orthodox Anglicans united under a banner called The Alliance are calling for structural differentiation in England (essentially a new province). The Bishop of Oxford has hit back telling The Alliance to take a running jump. Orthodox Anglicans from across Australasia gathered in Brisbane last week. New daughter churches are being planted within the fledging diocese of the Southern Cross. A new Archbishop appointed to lead the Anglican Church of North America. Steve Wood will replace Foley Beach. A collective meeting of orthodox leaders in Cairo has met for a week on ways that faithful christians might be able to reset the Communion. The Global South Anglicans met in Cairo the week before that and voted to call for the chair of the Global South Justin Badi Arama to work with the chair of Gafcon to reset the communion. Our guests are new General Secretary of Gafcon Paul Donison and new Bishop of the Diocese of the Southern Cross (and former Archbishop of Sydney) Glenn Davies. Many global Anglicans face a challenging question: whether and when to join the Gafcon movement. In this second conversation, Philip de Grey-Warter explains when and why he connected with Gafcon. Such decisions, complex and often costly, rightly begin in prayer, and Philip encourages church leaders to find comfort in their simple obedience to God. When we follow the Good Shepherd, God will provide the support we need: friends, fellow leaders, genuine spiritual oversight, and strength in the gospel.
Standing up for the authority of Scripture begins in loving obedience to the Lord and all the roles he has given us to play. For the Revd Philip de Grey-Warter, a Gafcon leader in the UK who stepped out in faith from the Church of England, his joy is evident as he serves first his family and parish, and also gives generously of his time to the growing global fellowship of orthodox Anglicans. Philip tells how Gafcon has given many worldwide Anglicans a renewed sense of belonging, and he encourages those among us who feel isolated to reach out and serve.
“It may be that God is destroying the Church of England and who am I to stand in his way? “The real tragedy would be if, in this traumatic, confusing time, if all of the evangelicals and the broader Orthodox group fall out with each other… if we can bear with each other in our different strategies, then that will be what we need (in whatever the future in England is going to be), whether that's within the Church of England or outside. Charlie Skrine, the senior minister of All Souls Langham Place London, says his church (and other evangelical churches in the UK) are in a world of pain at the moment over the growing split in the Church of England. Mr Skrine, who is speaking at the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion Conference in Sydney, says All Souls is united in it's commitment to biblical teaching on sexual ethics, but divided on what the best response should be. He says a third of All Souls members are wanting to leave the Church of England now, a third want to stay and fight (never leave), and a further third are confused, and this diversity of opinion is reflected in the staff team. Former All Souls evangelist Rico Tice has distanced himself from the Church of England, attends a Presbyterian Church, but retains Church of England Permission to Officiate. Rico said on the Gafcon 2018 livestream, of the gospel promoted by the Archbishop of Canterbury's Evangelism Team, “It's a different religion... and it's around whether scripture is authoritative in terms of human sexuality… I think it's a great wickedness to tell people who are on the road to destruction that they're not... if we have church leaders who are putting people on that road to destruction it's a salvation issue.. That's why we have to distance ourselves..." (https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1482677891837392)Mr Skrine says in Revelation 2 Jesus says that his people must not tolerate sexual immorality. Mr Skrine says the bishops don't get it, but there are tiny glimmers of hope of a settlement, with bishops moving slowly reluctantly towards the conclusion that they need to give up authority and come to a settlement. He says the actions of the Bishop of London have united evangelical leaders within the London Church in a highly significant way with groups like All Souls, St Helens, Holy Trinity Brompton and Soma all standing side by side. In this episode, Canon Phil talks with the Rev. Philip DeGray Warter of the Anglican Network in England. How do we partner together within the Anglican Communion to preach Christ faithfully to the nations, and what might it look like for Gafcon and the Global South Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (GSFA) to work together? How we answer these questions at a global level affects our life at the local level within our Anglican churches.
It is almost D day in the Anglican Communion.Today we give the background for two highly significant meetings. One to take place next week in Rome. The second in June in Cairo. The Rome gathering has been called by the rejected Canterbury leadership. The Cairo gathering has been called by the leadership of the Global South. As background, The Church of England, the historic mother church of the Anglican Communion, under the leadership of the Archbishop of Canterbury formally abandoned the historic Christian faith when the English General Synod voted to follow Archbishop Welby and his house of bishops in voting for same sex blessings. In reaction, the majority theologically orthodox have drawn a line in the sand and parted company with The church of England. The Global South Churches said in their important Ash Wednesday 23 statement that the Church of England has disqualified herself from leading the Anglican communion.Gafcon said the Archbishop of Canterbury's leadership has been irreparably damaged. We speak with the chair of the Global South Archbishop Justin Badi Arama of South Sudan and the new General Secretary of Gafcon Bishop Paul Donison.Support the show--Become a regular financial supporter of The Pastor's Heart via Patreon.
No leader works alone. Archbishop Miguel Uchôa, Gafcon Vice Chairman and Primate of Brazil, joins Bishop Paul Donison for a candid conversation about the need to raise up godly leaders in the pews of our local churches. Scripture plays a central part. Archbishop Uchôa shares the ways he has brought the Bible back into secular communities, and also describes how Gafcon brought support and structure to the faithful in Brazil in their time of need.
We continue a conversation with Chairman of the Gafcon Primates Council, Archbishop Laurent Mbanda, about the redemptive power of Biblically orthodox mission in his home country of Rwanda. Listen in, and learn how Anglicans worldwide are turning from mere separatism and toward the gospel of Christ.
In this inaugural podcast episode, Archbishop Laurent Mbanda, Chairman of the Gafcon Primates Council, shares his heart for Gafcon and the Jerusalem Declaration. Listen to how this statement continues to rally the worldwide church towards unity in biblically orthodox mission.
On this episode of FACTS, Dr. Boyce welcomes three Anglican guests from the US, England, and New Zealand to discuss the status of the Church of England. The Church of England has abandoned the teaching of Jesus with prayers for same sex blessings potentially to start before Christmas. ‘Tragic' says Gafcon.‘Disastrous' says the Global South. ‘Deeply Troubled' says the Church of England Evangelical Council‘First order difference requires first order differentiation' says Vaughan Roberts ‘It is hard not to dissolve into a flood of tears' says the Mark Thompson the principal of Sydney's Moore College. ‘The Archbishop of Canterbury should resign' - says the Church Society's Lee Gatiss. The English General Synod has crossed a line that evangelicals across the world had been praying and hoping would not happen. The General Synod expressed its support by a tiny majority of just a few votes for the continued implementation of the House of Bishops proposals to change the position and practice of the Church of England with regards to sexual ethics and marriage. We now expect the English bishops to commend prayers of blessing for same sex couples by mid-December (and provide dedicated services soon after), to prepare guidance which will make it possible for clergy to marry their same sex partners, and that future ordinands will not to be asked to indicate whether their lifestyle and personal relationships are in keeping with the doctrine of the Church of England.Vaughan Roberts is one of the UK's leading evangelical ministers within the church of England. Few people, particularly in the UK, have shown the kind of courageous, tenacious commitment to truth as media personality, minister, conservative commentator, and Anglican deacon Fr. Calvin Robinson. In 2020, after discerning a call to church ministry, Robinson left a career in teaching to pursue a degree in theology through St. Stephen's House, Oxford. In 2022, he applied for a curacy within the London Diocese of the Church of England. Robinson, a British citizen of mixed race, learned that his application had been held up due to his opinions on Critical Race Theory. Earlier, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby declared that the Church of England was “deeply institutionally racist,” a statement with which Robinson took issue. When it became clear that church leaders were dragging their feet over his placement, Robinson requested access to the files pertaining to his case. He learned that the Church of England, not the “broad church” many assumed, was rejecting him for his outspoken conservative views. Describing a conversation with the Bishop of London, Rt. Rev. Sarah Mullally, Robinson reported: I said as a mixed race person I don't feel like the church is institutionally racist. I think it's wrong for the Archbishop of Canterbury to stand up on a pedestal to announce, “We are racist.” I think that's wrong. I think individuals are racist and they need to be held to account for it, but to say that we as an institution are, that's unhelpful. I don't think it's statistically true. And she said to me, “Well I think we are, and as a white woman I can tell you that we are, and I've seen it.” His view on racial issues is not the only area in which Fr. Robinson found himself in conflict with the Church of England. As he put it, It seems the Church will affirm any liberal progressive secular view, but clamp down on conservative views, either political or theological. If you defend family values, the sanctity of marriage, all human life being sacred, or the fact that God made us male and female, you'll face opprobrium. Ousted from the Church of England, Fr. Robinson became a deacon in the Free Church of England instead, a church that aligns with the Global Anglican Future Conference, or GAFCON, an international body committed to biblical orthodoxy. Until recently, he hosted a popular show on GB News and now serves as minister-in-charge in a local parish. Fr. Robinson recently defended that the church should not perform or bless same-sex “marriages” in a debate at the Oxford Union, one of the world's oldest institutions of public discourse. His opponents were three progressive bishops. In each of these experiences, Robinson has demonstrated the kind of courage required for Christian faithfulness today. This begins, as Robinson put it, with a commitment to truth: People are looking for the Truth. It is our job as the Church to proclaim the Truth from the rooftops and let people know there is another way; that Jesus Christ is the truth and the way, and the life. If that means being counter-cultural, so be it. It is not our job to chase societal norms, it is our job to live a life rooted in the Scriptures. We cannot chase fads in order to attract numbers, bums in seats are a side-effect not the objective. … [W]e are called to disciple the nations—but I do not believe that means obsessing over attracting new demographics; that means obsessing over preaching the Good News, doing it well and faithfully. If we do that, people will come, and Christ will convert them. Courage, specifically how Christians can have a courageous faith, is the theme of the 2024 Colson Center National Conference, to be held May 30-June 2 in Arlington, Texas. I'm very pleased to announce that Fr. Calvin Robinson will join us for this event as a speaker along with an amazing lineup of others, such as Drs. Sean McDowell, Kathy Koch, and Neil Shenvi. Rolling out the Global Anglican rescue - with Archbishop Justin Badi Arama Nicky Gumbel teams up with the Global South in rebuking Archbishop Justin WelbySlowly, carefully, but quite deliberately, a new locus of leadership is emerging within the global Anglican Communion, a locus that significantly is intentionally focused on Christ and biblical authority and not focused on London, England or the Archbishop of Canterbury. An important meeting of the Primates of the Global South and other leader of the Anglican Community has just wrapped up in Cairo. Significantly and surprisingly the 13 orthodox Primates were joined at their meeting by Nicky Gumbel, the pioneer of the Alpha Course and London's Holy Trinity Brompton's massive UK church planting network. Nicky Gumbel has been a friend of the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby since high school. Chair of the Global South Archbishop Justin Badi Arama spells out the plans to reset the Anglican Communion, coming out of the Cairo meeting.Support the show--To make a one off contribution to support The Pastor's Heart's ministry go to this link, or to become a regular Patreon supporter click here.

In this special podcast, Canon Phil summarizes the current events in today's Anglican Communion. The past few months have seen some significant occurrences that will affect the Church's future: the conclusion of Lambeth Conference 2022, the appointment of a homosexual dean for Canterbury Cathedral, the Global South and Gafcon's responses, the consecration of four new bishops for Europe outside of Canterbury's authority, and the transference of Abp. Felix Orji of Nigeria's diocese to the ACNA. All of these events illustrate the state of the Communion, the Global South, and Gafcon. How do these events relate to one another and the larger Anglican experience? Is there a movement towards somehting greater or towards greater decline in global Anglicanism? What's the difference between the Global South and Gafcon and how are they working together?
