If you appreciate this work, consider supporting it - https://www.patreon.com/seekgodtogether https://www.seekGodtogether.com Today we will read 1 John 4:19. This simple verse says, “We love Him because He first loved us.” What is love? If you say, “Everyone has their own definition…” I would understand the sentiment and even sympathize. But it would be wrong. Love is not from you. Love does not bow to your, or my, or anyone's definition. Biblically, love is from God and we merely reciprocate what God has started. And it's not just that God loves… and while it seems like that would be enough…there's more. It's deeper. Love is not merely what God does. It's what God is. God's essence, His makeup, His core personality, His nature, His appetites, His passion and desire, His priorities, are all love. There is literally nothing He does that isn't built on the foundation of love. You could say that while everything you do is human, and there is literally nothing you could do that isn't human, and that varies broadly, so everything God does is love. You are human, He is love. Has God done a thing in which in your humanness you disapprove? Well you can be confident that His actions are only motivated by His love for you. But wait there's more, not only IS God love, and not only does He act in love, but He has chosen to share His essential love with creatures like you. Yes you are the recipient. Do you feel like it? Maybe you don't. But it doesn't matter - you are! You are literally the MOST LOVED creature in the entire universe. Has a human broken your heart? Are you neglected by humans? Are you lonely? The pain is real and I don't mean to diminish it. But please don't lose the big picture that the One Who created you loves you so deeply it'd be impossible to take it all in over an eternity. You are a derivative lover. You cannot love if He had not loved first. He gave more than His feelings. He gave of Himself - His essence - His love. God contracted and expressed His love and now we are here as recipients. We can now participate, experience, and share that love with others. In fact that is what we are called to. That is what we are made for: to love God, and others. God You're just too much to take in. I'm at a loss for words. Thank You for being You and for giving Yourself. Thank You for allowing me, a simple human to experience and share in the Love of God. Take me from glory to glory, love to love, and allow me to experience more of You and share with others.

La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
1st reading is delivered by Bryan Ko, 2nd reading delivered by Jessica Putri (both are from the Church of Santo Yohanes Bosco in Jakarta, Indonesia), Gospel reading and meditation delivered by Father Peter Tukan, SDB (Salesian community in Jakarta, Indonesia). Genesis 22: 1-2.9a.10-13.15-18; Rs psalm 116: 10.15.16-17.18-19; Romans 8: 31b-34; Mark 9: 2-10. THE MOST LOVED IS TO BE SACRIFICED Our meditation on this second Sunday of Lent has the theme: The Most Loved is Sacrificed. Our relationship with God is not always marked by the gifts given. We know that every gift is freely given. It depends on the generosity of the giver. God is full of His graces and gifts and He gives them to the creatures, especially human beings, according to His good will. For example there are the gift of life, of faith, of natural environment that surrounds us, or our fellow human beings, or our parents, and so on. However, regarding the gifts of penance, conversion, salvation, and eternal life, there should be a big struggle to get it. Actually, God was the one who initiated this struggle starting with the call of Abraham and down to the point when He sent His own Son, Jesus Christ. Salvation basically is a gift from God, but it isto be paid with the struggle of the cross by every follower of Christ who follows the example of Jesus Christ. Today the Lord God teaches us to follow this process of struggle. His teaching is about to sacrifice the most loved or the most special to everyone's heart. The price of what is sacrificed is indeed the one of the highest glory. Jesus was soloved by the Father and yet He was made as a sacrifice Lamb for the salvation of all creation and the world. Our readings today teach us about God's way of educating us in the act of sacrifice or to give up what or who we love most. Abraham wanted to sacrifice Isaac, the only child he loved most for his obedience and loyalty to God. The Son of God who is in heaven or in eternity, was sacrificed to come to the earth through the mystery of incarnation, to redeem and to save the world. The Son of God was introduced by the Father himself at the moment of transfiguration on Mount Tabor, as He said: “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him." Jesus Christ, the beloved Son of the Father, appeared gloriously on the Tabor, but in order to arrive at that point of glorification He had to go down from there and begin to walk the path of life full of struggles and sufferings till He reached the Calvary. Why do we have to sacrifice what we love most? Because we want to achieve the best. Our choices and decisions to sacrifice what or who we love most or the best from ourselves, of course, always point to the highest goal, namely the happiness, the goodness, and the salvation. I have sacrificed all that I have in order to become a priest and you also have sacrificed something or someone to become what or who you are now. There are many and various examples that we have sacrificed, whether from our own or from what belongs to others that we might have loved so much, however, because we are really after what is the highest or the best we indeed want to achieve. If our purpose or goal is only something bad or evil, it should be a futile work and effort and it is really against the will of God. Let's pray. In the name of the Father ... Our Father in heaven, grant that You always awaken in us a sense of gratitude and a burning spirit to sacrifice ourselves for our only love for You and for our neighbors. Our Father ... In the name ... --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/media-la-porta/message

In December 2007, the U.S. marked the beginning of its longest recession since World War II. Now the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, an agency born in the ashes of the nation's economic downturn, is under new leadership that promises big changes. Meanwhile, a tax plan speeding through Congress could have far-reaching effects on the economy, well beyond taxes. On paper, the U.S. economy looks robust. But for whom, and for how long? This week, Annie Lowrey and Alana Semuels join our hosts to look at what's happened in the decade since the Great Recession, and what's happening now. What lessons have we learned from the crisis? And which are we doomed to repeat?
