"Spotify Fights Back" is a rather oxymoronic statement. This is a recent headline from MusicRadar and it's got us in a tizzy. In said article, Spotify is basically saying their business model is fair ball. But musicians have a slightly different take. So this week we go our round against the streaming giant. In our "News, Views and Tunes", we tackle A.I. in the music biz and go over the "Thunderbolts*" movie. Musically, we crank Midnight, Ghaal's Wyrd, White Wizard, Mindwars, Leftover Crack, Pupil Slicer, Iron Spell and we introduce Dream Heavy in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up!
4.10.25 - Day 4/13 of the White Wizard Wavespell - Planetary Moon 7 We are in the Planetary Moon as from my experience, it's limited. It's a time of noticing our sentience, instead of our eternal soul, and being landed here on earth instead of afloat and dreamy in the cosmos. So it is weighty. It is compressive. It seems to dull some senses, and certainly our minds. I recognize it from a thousand other Planetary passages. It will pass. We are simultaneously a bit adrift from the timelessness of the White Wizard wavespell, ourselves shaman healers for a moment or also receiving that clarifying insight from somewhere divine, pressing into us a breakthrough, a release. It's okay to be semi-unconscious, in a trance. The work is subliminal, and doesn't require consciousness.
4.6.25 - Day 13/13 of the Red Dragon Wavespell - Planetary Moon 3 It's the last day of official Mercury Retrograde and you will have to breathe and be patient with yourself as everything goes totally awry, whether communication or mechanical failure or those issues conjoined. It's not ever going to get completely easy when we have such a hyper-interactive and digitalized world, Retrograde or not, but you can at least use these moments of mayhem to learn strategies for going inward, letting go of perfect outcomes, noticing that there is magic when something astral has such an everyday impact. It's also the end of the Red Dragon wavespell, and onward we go into White Wizard. There is a hokey old phrase for the sleep between wavespells, the dream space: magic flight. You fall asleep in Red Dragon and wake to White Wizard, and in between you might go somewhere amazing.
Embark on an auditory adventure into the depths of Middle-earth with your intrepid hosts, Tom and Mitch, as we navigate the epic intricacies of "The Two Towers" movie adaptation. Brace for an episode brimming with revelations on Gandalf's mystical transformation, the strategic might of Rohan's cavalry, and the hauntingly beautiful Dead Marshes. Whether you're a Tolkien aficionado or a wide-eyed newcomer, our musings promise to leave you enchanted by the lore and legend of the realm. In the hallowed halls of Fangorn Forest, you'll hear us chuckle over Merry and Pippin's Ent-powered growth spurt and debate the merits of eagle transport versus a trek through Mordor. We'll unravel the perplexing absence of the Ringwraiths and share insights into the White Wizard's enigmatic return. Meanwhile, our hearts race as we revisit the unyielding defenders at Helm's Deep and marvel at Sauron's strategic enigma. Your ears will tingle with the thunderous rallying cries of Rohan, just as ours did.As the echoes of our discussion fade, join the fellowship of fans shaping the future of "Entertain This." Share your thoughts, lend your voice, and become part of a community as profound as the bond between a rider and their steed in Tolkien's world. With a final jovial nod to our absent co-host Hayden, we bid you adieu, leaving you with the promise of many more tales and hearty laughs in the episodes to come.Support the show
S6E47 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 23 Nov 2023. The live show was a bit of a disaster due to the fibre going down, I had to abort half way through. The podcast however is great. We kicked off with ‘Good Times' by Jimmy Barnes in a duet with the late great Michael Hutchins. From there it was ‘all systems dogs' as Danie Maritz used to say. We covered a wide range of rock and roll from around the world and across the decades. See Artists featured below to check out who was on the show. The Immortals track this week featured Guitar God Yngwie Malmsteen. His Rising Force album left guitarists around the world gob smacked. It was hard to believe anyone could play this fast with super human precision. The Icarus Dream Suite is the prefect showcase of what Yngwie was all about. This weeks Diabolical Challenge didn't get a lot of love. It is interesting how many people that love rock and metal and know all the classic bands seemed to stop listening in about 2010. I found it difficult to get any clear favourite out of these four. Most people just had not listened to them: Foo Fighters – Concrete and GoldArch Enemy – Will To PowerKreator – Gods of ViolenceAccept – The Rise of Chaos Artists featured: Jimmy Barnes, Clutch, The L.A. 9.26.21 - Day 13/13 of the White Wizard Wavespell - Electric Moon 7 The White Wizard wavespell gives way to Blue Hand. These tribes are occult partners, so watch a kind of mystical seamlessness as we flow between them. The shaman uses hands to heal, is inherently analytical in helping others through spells, tinctures, incantation. There is a lot of data processing in overseeing someone's return to wellness. We are switching from the timeless, formless reverie that makes a shaman unable to regulate everyday life, instead turns to vaster topics and truths, and lives apart from the tribe in service but also isolation. Now we will see the process, progress, as we handle the task at hand. It could be direct healing, ourselves or others, or it could be creative productivity, making things. White Wizard still hovers as a spiritual partner to this wavespell. The glyph of White Wizard depicts god's eye. The glyph of Blue Hand depicts our own. We take the host of spiritual insights from the last wavespell's arc into our own mind and vision. We know enchantment, and we act on it.
9.18.21 - Day 5/13 of the White Wizard Wavespell - Lunar Moon 27 This is a White Wizard wavespell within a White Wizard wavespell. We forget that the largest wavespell we track - over 13 years - is also White Wizard. It began July 26, 2019 and has certainly ushered in enchantment and timelessness - the dark spell of Coronavirus and the time warp of quarantine. We revisit this grand larger cycle with a much smaller, condensed version, but you can let it lead you back to bigger picture perspectives. What began for you in the White Magnetic Wizard year? What challenges are you facing as identified by the last Blue Lunar Storm year? Now we are in the third year of 13, Yellow Electric Seed, and on the verge of amplifying its tone by entering the Electric Moon. We are discovering how we can best be of service in this long 13-year wave. Let the ascendency of White Wizard break the hard cycle of the last Lunar year, this Lunar moon that looms like a last gasp of all that challenge.
9.13.21 - Day 13/13 of the Red Dragon Wavespell - Lunar Moon 22 Red Dragon wavespell is over. Next. I have that feeling about it. It's incredible and powerful to experience life through the lens of feminine creativity, of nurturing and motherhood, and it's exhausting to feel the cultural shadow of misogyny that accompanies any passage through goddess energy. Especially during the Lunar Moon. Challenge identified. Challenge accepted. White Wizard - the wavespell - is actually something we've been living the last two years on a larger scale. July 26, 2019 began a 13-year White Wizard wavespell, and immediately introduced us to the Coronavirus. We can enter this 13 day wavespell as an interesting reiteration of the larger themes of our recent years. We can look for connections in ourselves to bigger picture views for what our life holds in the 13 year arc we are passing through. Hint: timelessness and enchantment are what Jose Arguelles described as White Wizard's power points. You are in a timeless enchantment phase personally, we are in one collectively. And we will be for a long time forward.

Discussion of The Two Towers, Book Three, Chapter Two Join Cam and Maggie for our first big adventure with the new company – Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas! Their gruff, decidedly un-magical perspective gives us a wonderfully rugged new look at Middle-earth. Mud, blood, and dead orcs abound, but Gandalf still manages to echo through the chapter. Hints of eagles, strange narrative jumps, and the appearance a mysterious Old Man lead us to wonder about Gandalf’s continued involvement – and influence – within this story. Cam develops a theory about Two Towers being the villain showcase of The Lord of the Rings and Maggie leads us through a compare / contrast segment making sense of Gandalf and Saruman. The White Wizard is everywhere in these pages, as a passive threat and possibly another active theological meddler. Legolas even discusses him as being “a will” acting upon Middle-earth, so Cam gets all excited about that. We also break down some fresh political critique in the company’s dealings with the Riders of Rohan and reflect on the progressive streak we keep finding in Tolkien’s work. In our Second Breakfast, we try to figure just why we hated Zack Snyder’s Justice League so much. On paper, it is an extended cut of a genre epic that follows a fellowship driven by magical objects and threatened by a criminally underdeveloped villain – we should love it! We move past our subjective opinions of the film to have a conversation about genre adaptations, the innumerable pressures placed on fandom movies, and the crushing difficulty of making movies like this comprehensible to viewers who aren’t familiar with the source material. Hey, we even end up bashing Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and all the Marvel movies. Everyone except Peter Jackson, blessed be his name. Saint Patty's Day With The White Wizard | Episode 28
The newly-minted Gandalf the White advises the Three Hunters to leave the Hobbits in the strong, twiggy hands of Treebeard and go to Edoras. They agree, but Legolas still wants to know how Gandalf is — y’know, not dead — launching the wizard into a brief account of his fight with Durin’s Bane, and your hosts into an epic series of sidebars about Gandalf’s resurrection, mythology, and religion. All this, plus a Tolkien Quote of the Day about sacrifice, and a couple of mailbag stumpers that make Alan question the wisdom of letting Shawn pick the questions.

1.6.21 - Day 10/13 of the White Wizard Wavespell * Rhythmic Moon 25 Looking at January 6, 2021 through the Mayan lens, it's not obvious how things got so incredibly insane. But Blue Night days are like a dream - and there was plenty to witness culturally today that unfolded like a disjoined nocturnal walkabout with nightmarish twists but mostly lots of odd non sequiturs. And the Planetary tone always forces us to face what's going on right here, laterally, no heavenly escape valves. It's the peak moment of the White Wizard wavespell, a time of dark enchantment as well as light. It's a Lunar year, dividing everything into polar opposition. It's a Blue Storm year - combustible, pressure-bursting, chaotic. Today was guided by Blue Monkey - which operates like the lies children tell in its shadow energy: grandiose and guileless, irrational but offered with such conviction. That sounds about right.
12.30.20 - Day 3/13 of the White Wizard wavespell * Rhythmic Moon 18 The White Wizard wavespell is a journey through enchantment. Always remind myself that in the fairytale and mythology version of this, there are plenty of dark forces in the forest doing ill. So we can patiently attend to the White Wizard passage knowing we'll meet bad players, or feel the energy surround of malevolence, while always saved, sent along by benevolent guides we meet on the way - especially when the obstacles feel too challenging, or the path too tangled.
12.27.20 - Day 13/13 of the Red Dragon wavespell * Rhythmic Moon 15 We enter the third week of the Rhythmic Moon, in the West, and open ourselves up to its characteristic intensity and velocity. The full moon's approach is part of this stacked moment of greater emotion, passion and transformation - not the platitude about transformation but the true alchemy of a Mayan cyclical shift from the Northern direction of air to the Southern direction of earth through these seven days in the element of water. Fluidity, liquid feelings and tidal surges take over. We also transit from the Red Dragon wavespell to White Wizard, imminently. The time of enchantment in a 13 day stretch microcosmically replicates the larger White Wizard wavespell we're living that lasts 13 years.
11.8.20 - Day 3/13 of the White Wind wavespell * Self-Existing Moon 22 Joe Biden was called out as winner of the presidential election on a Lunar day within a Lunar year. He is a Lunar person - White Lunar Worldbridger (a portal). He is guided by White Mirror - in some sense human sacrifice - and look at his life's haunting familial catastrophes. In the White Wind wavespell, we all speak the truth instead of lies, and we can hear the words of spirit in each other's communication. When I heard Joe Biden speak on Blue Lunar Night, I felt the truth of it, the weight of a truth many of us would have doubted or denied even days ago before this wavespell began: the soul of the nation and the salvation of our species demands that we heal. He is a White Worldbridger - always going to do that, reach across the aisle. But we can trust he is not an idiot, but an exemplar. He is a shaman in this White Wizard wavespell of 13 years. He is our elder. We have the choice to trust and respect his truth as something we need and should aim for.
10.8.20 - Day 11/13 of the Blue Night wavespell * Electric Moon 19 The Blue Lunar Storm year echoes 1968, and the surrounding 13-year White Wizard wavespell was last experienced from 1967-1980. Think easily how experimental that era was, with exploding personal freedom and pushback against perceptions about morality, sexuality, psychology and spiritualism. It was a social revolution. Allow the echo of that to be coherent in your life now. We're breaking through perception again, radically, coming into higher consciousness. Not into a field of light, but one of varied technicolor juxtaposed with pitch darkness. These are colorful times on the edge of a black void that we cannot fully fathom. But we'll slowly shine our light into that unknown space. This larger view of what we are systemically enduring right now is meant to help you feel the importance of all that challenges you, scares you, is waking you up from collective denial.
8.2.20 - Day 9/13 of the White Mirror wavespell * Cosmic Moon 8 There's so much difference in the intensity and speed of a Magnetic Moon, especially shifting from a year of timelessness and enchantment (White Wizard) to catalyzing transformation and the identification of challenge (Blue Lunar Storm). In addition we're climbing the stairway to heaven in the White Mirror wavespell of rituals of sacrifice and giving our whole heart to close in on the divine space that informs and outlasts this planetary reality. A lot to live through right now!
4.22.20 - Day 11/13 of the White Wizard wavespell * Planetary Moon 19 I am stumbling for words when we utter many fewer and also there's so much heaviness in the Planetary Moon making me a bit dense. I hope this podcast at least addresses the burden and intensity of the Planetary tone as it is so thickly upon us, and another stab at the apocryphal passage of a White Wizard wavespell in a White Wizard year and overlying 13-year White Wizard wavespell. Beyond that, I think I'm a little out of sorts and not stir crazy but stifled. I am another yourself, perhaps!
4.19.20 - Day 8/13 of the White Wizard wavespell * Planetary Moon 16 The White Wizard wavespell celebrates timelessness - the ability to feel the 'now' moment as expansive enough to include the surrounding centuries, not just the seconds or minutes of our unfolding day. So we're a little stretched out and untethered to clocks and calendars and we would be even if our cultural orientation to schools and jobs each day weren't out the window. We have triple White Wizard energy for another handful of days - a 13-day wavespell, 13 moon wavespell, and 13 year wavespell all imbued with its celebration of shamanism. Let that depth of experience in healing, seeing, sitting in sanctuary fill you up, before it fades a little. It's actually such a luxury to be disoriented and undriven by timekeeping, something we'll miss when we wind up once more.
4.15.20 - Day 4/13 of the White Wizard wavespell * Planetary Moon 12 Let's gear up for the quickening of the Planetary Moon as it transits on Saturday 4.18 to the Blue western week and stage of transformation. The times we're in are demanding, the Planetary Moon has its particular intensity, and I think anticipation of potential emotional havoc or chaotic shifts in belief and karmic quick-turns in our relationships is a good practice these next few days. Get ready, just as our societal structure has shifted entirely to talks of preventative measures. Use the remaining days aligned with spiritual presence in the north to calm, pray, meditate, be imbued with space and blessing.
4.12.20 - Day 1/13 of the White Wizard wavespell * Planetary Moon 9 Today is the 'Galactic Return' of our 13 Moon year. It's 260 days after the new year's day, July 26, 2019. So it's the same Tzolkin day, White Magnetic Wizard, which is also what our year is named, and represents for its entire 365-day run. Today is a kind of the first and most prominent manifestation of White Magnetic Wizard in our lives - personal and collective. Then we have the rest of the year (105 days) to live in the beyond-manifestation, an exploration in essence, afterbirth and how we are in turn affected by what has grown to such grandeur. White Magnetic Wizard, the year, leads a 13 year wavespell that is oriented to White Wizard. Today is a White Wizard day in a White Wizard year in a White Wizard wavespell of 13 years. Be shamanic, be timeless, be enchanted.
Heather Elizabeth returns to talk about the climactic significance of our current evolutionary moment, bringing with her the magical map of galactic synchronicity: the 13 Moon DreamSpell calendar. Hellooo, folks! Today we are discussing Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and its continuing parallels with the World Wars. Yes yes, we know that Tolkien hated allegory and we respect our beloved author's viewpoint. But there is something...magnetic about looking at Saruman's abilities as a charismatic leader relating to the powers of certain real villains in the early- to mid-twentieth century. Particularly when we look at Peter Jackson's interpretation of the White Wizard. Join us as we unravel this and many, many other aspects of this epic second instalment of the Lord of the Rings story.~ABOUTJoin us, Morgan and Shalini, in our nerdy meditations on the most spellbinding and epic literary genre in the world, High Fantasy. We passionately explore some of the most popular series of books, shows, and films of this enthralling and inspiring genre, and try to unpack why it continues to be an influential and amazing source of entertainment, life lessons, and even personal growth. To get regular updates you can follow us on:Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/highfantasypodcastInstagram – @highfantasypodcastTwitter – @podcast_fantasy

Season 1-Episode 10: "Come one, Come all and see the Great and Powerful..." Hello everyone, we are pleased to invite you to come and join us on this awesome adventure through the Land of Oz. Come and hear us express if we thought the movie was a companion to the Wizard of Oz film or the companion to Wicked the play. Hear us talk about James Franco, his portrayal of Oz the Great and Powerful, the sleight of hand trickery he does to the ladies in the movie and to the audience. We talk about the whole cast and how well they fit into their roles. We discussed why this didn't work as a franchise starter. Jacob gives ideas of what he would had done for the next two movies and Ryan chimes in with some ideas for a mockumentary of the lands in the Land of Oz. These two came up with some pretty good ideas. So, come and join us as we talk about your favorite wizard since Harry Potter, Gandalf or Dumbledore or if He must not be named, Sauraon, Or the White Wizard, or Severus Snape! I now wonder who would win in a fight among those Wizards? "Ozzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!" Thank you so much for listening, Subscribing, Rating and Commenting. I know the 3 of us are grateful for your willingness to trust us with your time. You can find us on Podbean, Player FM, Castbox, Podcast App, Overcast, iTunes, Himalaya and Castro. If you are into watching videos we are on Youtube with the video of us talking about Oz the Great and Powerful. Thank you so much and have a great day!!

There's this substance that the British people deploy called "salad cream." Chemists, for decades, have tried to break down its constituent parts; but the substance's sheer viscosity--not to mention its disturbing colour and odour--have defied all analysis. I mention this because despite our Canadian prerogative of spelling colour and odour as we do, the cultural rites of salad cream are alien to us. We're proud members of the Commonwealth, but we have our limits. Also, you could put some salad cream on your point salad, bruh. Gandalf and team reach the Golden Hall, but the king of Rohan, Theoden is not quite as kingly as he should be. A snake has embedded himself among the people of Rohan and it will take the White Wizard to remove him. Jonathan, Katie and Chase join them in the Golden Hall and discuss chapter 6 of the Two Towers.
"I think that I now understand what he is up to. He is plotting to become a Power. He has a mind of metal and wheels; and he does not care for growing things, except as far as they serve him for the moment. And now it is clear that he is a black traitor. He has taken up with foul folk, with the Orcs." Welcome again to another episode of the Green Dragon! This week we have everyone's favourite wizard (well... at least top 3), leader of the Istari and head of the White Council, Saruman! So join Matt, David and Kylie as they find out what makes the White Wizard such a dominant force in the game, and laugh along as we realise none of us know how to pronounce English, Elvish or any other language!
First we turn to a journey – the journey of Nishiyuu. Aboriginal youth recently trekked over 1,500 kilometers on foot through extreme conditions to promote solidarity and action around the issues facing indigenous peoples. We hear words from Isaac Kawapit also known as the “The White Wizard” and an interview by Lorraine Chisholm from RedEye Radio with Matthew Mukash. So, are you a feminist? What does that even mean? Artist, activist, and educator Kim Crosby says there are many different feminisms. With International Women's Day on March 8th Riaz Sayani –Mulji met with Kim Crosby to talk about feminism, organizing and more. Here's part of their conversation. For this story we turn to Halifax. In the 1960's the municipal government, against the wishes of residents, razed the historic Black settlement of Africville. Now once again there is a struggle over space and community. This time the fight is over what could be a community centre. Talking Radical Radio's Scott Neigh [Ni] spoke with Rev. Rhonda Britton of Cornwallis Street Baptist Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia about the struggle to preserve the closed St. Patrick's-Alexandra school building as a community space. We have just passed the two year anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster. Chie Matsumoto is an anti-nuclear and labour activist in Japan who gave an updated on the situation to Asian Pacific Current's Jiselle Hanna. Finally Bob Wiseman is the man that wrote and peformed our theme song. He also has a new album out and we get to share with you a great song called “The Reform Party at Burning Man.”
