How can personal tragedy inspire the most unlikely of people to become activists? This question is at the heart of Norita, a new documentary screening Oct. 8 at the Seattle Latino Film Festival. Norita takes a moving look at the life and journey of an Argentinian woman, Nora Cortiñas. She was a mother who became caught in the crosshairs of Argentina's military dictatorship, which stretched from 1976 to 1983. Norita's fearless protest against the government, and search for justice, played a role in toppling the dictatorship, and she spent the rest of her life as a leading voice for human rights. One of the benefits to having four hosts is that if something comes up and someone can't be on a recording, the show can go on.  For Episode 78, we were short Anthony, so what did the guys decide to talk about while he wasn't there?  One of Anthony's favorite cameras of course!  The Zeiss-Ikon Super Ikonta 532/16 is a medium format folding camera that shoots 6cm x 6cm images and is one of the very few medium format folding cameras with both a rangefinder and fast f/2.8 lens. In addition to it being one of Anthony's favorite cameras, it is also a favorite of professional photographer Johnny Martyr who, along with a stable of vintage Leicas, shoots his Super Ikonta professionally, offering medium format prints to his clientele.  On this episode, Johnny shares with us his motivation on why he incorporated medium format into his business and why he chose this specific camera. Episode 78 was light on guests as Paul, Theo, and Mike were also joined by returning callers AJ Gentile and Miles Libak, but we made up for it with a nice discussion of GAS!  The conversation eventually moved from 6x6 folders to 4.5x6 folders and Mike gave his recommendation on one of the best Japanese 4.5x6 folding rangefinder cameras, the Konica Pearl IV.  In addition, Mike also recommended an unlikely 6x9 folding camera as a value champion that still punches above its weight with a great lens. Paul shares some recent cameras he's dug out of his crypt and Theo talks about his recent adventures with a Nikon S2 and Olympus Pen FT and how he accidentally redscaled some film without knowing it.  We briefly discuss the merits of prism based viewfinders and what would happen if you purposely loaded black and white film backwards. Militante y defensora de derechos humanos, cofundadora de Madres de Plaza de Mayo y posteriormente de Madres de Plaza de Mayo Línea Fundadora. Es psicóloga social y profesora en la facultad de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Doctora honoris causa por la Universidad Libre de Bruselas en el año 2000, la Universidad de Salta en 2004, y la Universidad de Buenos Aires en 2012. El 15 de abril de 1977, la dictadura cívico militar se llevó a su hijo Carlos Gustavo Cortiñas, estudiante de Ciencias Económicas de la UBA y militante de la Juventud Peronista. Él colaboraba en la Villa 31, en el barrio Saldías, junto al Padre Carlos Mugica cuando fue secuestrado en la estación de tren de Castelar, Provincia de Buenos Aires. No se pudo obtener información sobre su paso por algún centro clandestino de detención y, hasta hoy, permanece desaparecido. Desde aquel momento, Norita pone el cuerpo en todas y cada una de las luchas de las luchas de las últimas décadas. En este día, le rendimos un afectuoso homenaje a través de una de las entrevistas que ofreció a Radio Nacional y que conserva el Archivo Histórico de la emisora. My guest today is a longtime friend Norita Drake. She has lived in TX for 34 years and is widely known among friends as being a great cook. I personally can attest to this and have enjoyed some of her dishes over the years. I especially got a sample one Thanksgiving many years ago when my wife and I spent Thanksgiving Day with Norita and her late husband, Earl. Norita has served and continues to serve in ministry support roles. Currently serving as a kid ministry assistant. Norita has shared her story publicly because she wants “adoption to be more considered, accepted, and sought after.” So, more people will know “Every child deserves a mother and a father!"

La referente de Madres de Plaza de Mayo Línea Fundadora, y fiel oyente del programa, Nora Cortiñas, dialogó con Alejandro Apo sobre su costado futbolero. Hincha de Boca, "Norita" cuenta cómo convive junto a su familia, todos hinchas de River. "Me saqué la lotería, pero nos llevamos bien, congeniamos. Cuando gana Boca, trato de no disfrutar, para no molestarlos; cuando gana River, ellos se ponen orgullosos y me llaman", dice, entre risas. Por otro lado, al ser consultada por la actualidad del país, la co-fundadora de Madres de Plaza de Mayo elogió las medidas del presidente Alberto Fernández contra la pandemia del coronavirus y destacó el trabajo de todo el gabinete porque "tuvo un criterio muy a favor del pueblo". Nora Cortiñas, en los estudios de la Radio Pública Además, habló sobre la campaña que impulsa para suspender el pago de la deuda externa e investigar "a fondo" el endeudamiento que llevó adelante el gobierno del ex presidente Mauricio Macri. "Estoy en campaña para suspender el pago de la deuda externa y pedir una investigación a fondo. Que nos digan qué nos quieren cobrar y que todo lo que fugaron se repatrie para ayudar a la situación sanitaria. Hay que suspender todo el pago y que nos digan cuánto debemos", sostuvo. "Que devuelvan todo lo que nos robaron", subrayó. También habló sobre el equipo de fútbol femenino que apadrinó, Norita Fútbol Club, que compite en la liga Nosotras Jugamos y que cuenta con su nieta Lucía entre sus filas, y lamentó la discriminación que sufren las mujeres en el deporte. Sobre el cierre de la nota, a 43 años de la primera ronda de las Madres de Plaza de Mayo, dejó un claro mensaje: "Todos estamos juntos para seguir luchando por la Memoria, la Verdad y la Justicia".
