Why don't directors know how basketball works? We talk a bit about My Cousin Vinny and Joe Pesci's albums, then we get into the novels of Harper Lee, but not too much, because next week we will be doing a deep dive into the film To Kill a Mockingbird! The Catwoman Basketball Scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNlmRId2FVQ&ab_channel=KyleColeman Alien: Resurrection Basketball Scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0GNKQQPHNU&ab_channel=sweaverfan I Love This You Should Too is hosted by Samantha & Indy Randhawa My Cousin Vinny is a 1992 American comedy film directed by Jonathan Lynn, written by Dale Launer, and produced by Launer and Paul Schiff. It stars Joe Pesci, Ralph Macchio, Marisa Tomei, Mitchell Whitfield, Lane Smith, Bruce McGill, and the final film appearance of Fred Gwynne. The film was distributed by 20th Century Fox and released on March 13, 1992. Macchio and Whitfield play William Gambini and Stanley Rothenstein, two young New Yorkers who are arrested in Alabama and put on trial for a murder they did not commit. Unable to afford a lawyer, they are defended by Gambini's cousin Vinny Gambini (Pesci), newly admitted to the bar, who arrives with his fiancée, Mona Lisa Vito (Tomei). The clash between the brash Italian-American New Yorkers and the more reserved Southern townspeople provides much of the film's humor. The principal location of filming was Monticello, Georgia. My Cousin Vinny was a critical and financial success, with Pesci, Gwynne, and Tomei praised for their performances. Tomei won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Attorneys have also lauded the film for its accurate depiction of criminal procedure and trial strategy. To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel by the American author Harper Lee. It was published in June 1960 and became instantly successful. In the United States, it is widely read in high schools and middle schools. To Kill a Mockingbird has become a classic of modern American literature; a year after its release, it won the Pulitzer Prize. The plot and characters are loosely based on Lee's observations of her family, her neighbors and an event that occurred near her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, in 1936, when she was ten. Go Set a Watchman is a novel by Harper Lee that was published in 2015 by HarperCollins (US) and Heinemann (UK). Written before her only other published novel, the Pulitzer Prize-winning To Kill a Mockingbird (1960), Go Set a Watchman was initially promoted as a sequel by its publishers. It is now accepted that it was a first draft of To Kill a Mockingbird, with many passages in that book being used again.
According to recent reports, Ming-Na Wen will join the cast of The Karate Kid sequel. Ming-Na Wen, best known for playing Fennec Shand in the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett, a spinoff of The Mandalorian, stars in the upcoming film alongside Joshua Jackson, Ralph Macchio, Jackie Chan, and Ben Wang. Wen's part is fairly confidential, as is the narrative of the new film, which will incorporate the re-telling of a Chinese youngster navigating his life through martial arts. Sony Pictures is to bring together characters from both films in an attempt to combine the two worlds with Chan and Macchio reprising their original roles. The film is planned to hit theatres on December 13th this year. Fans can stream the original film on Disney + Hotstar.
Get ready to step onto the mat and relive the classic underdog story that defined a generation in The Rewatch Party's latest episode. Join them as they revisit the timeless tale of Daniel LaRusso and his mentor, Mr. Miyagi, and explore the themes of resilience, mentorship, and the power of discipline. Cobra Kai is an American martial-arts comedy-drama series and is one of the most viewed shows on Youtube and Netflix. The series is a sequel to the original Karate Kid trilogy from the 80s and boasts several Primetime Emmy Award nominations amongst others. The story is told from the perspective of Johnny Lawrence, the antagonist in the first film. The fourth season is slated to drop at the end of this month on Netflix. In today's Now You KNow, we shall look into some lesser-known trivia from the series that you probably didn't know about. I'm your host Nikhil, let's begin! 1. The ribbon Ralph Macchio's character, Daniel LaRusso, uses in the series when he begins to train Karate again, and the car from season two, are from the iconic first film from 1984, The Karate Kid. Macchio was given both of these items after completing production for the first film.2. As of season three, only two characters have appeared in all three films of the original trilogy - Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso, and Martin Kove's John Kreese.3. During Netflix's official YouTube Channel show Reunited Apart, the creators revealed that the original idea was for a feature film, but the plans were later changed to turn it into a TV series so as to tell the story from each character's perspective. 4. Whenever members of the Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai come into conflict, they are shown to wear clothing of blue and red respectively. 5. A vast majority of the members of Cobra Kai either have experience in martial arts or are trained dancers. 6. Each season has at least one episode named after a song, one named as a Spanish word, and one named for a phrase or line from the original movie. If you haven't watched this yet then do so, it's streaming on NetflixThat's the OTTplay Now You Know podcast for today, I shall be back again with another episode. Until then it's your host Nikhil signing out.

On Episode 3, we talked with Dr. Frank Macchio, Executive Vice Chairman of Anesthesiology at North Shore University Hospital. He was a leader coordinating North Shore's response to COVID-19, and here provided insight what it was like dealing with Covid during the first wave. He also talked about the Anesthesiology profession and the safety of the Covid vaccine.
We seem to be on a tear with having guests picking iconic films of the 80's and finding plenty of faults with them (Coming to America, Die Hard, Karate Kid) Oh, and speaking of the Karate Kid, here's a first. This week's guest was in the Karate Kid...3. That's right, Sean Kanan (@seankanen but in KK3, Mike Barnes) joins us to crescent kick Footloose. You know, the film features the song where unoriginal couple plays at their wedding. Well, Sean wishes this film ended up like Kevin Bacon's first character role did in Animal House...spanked with a pledge paddle until his skin blisters. But do @KevinGootee and @KevinIsrael_NJ agree with Sean this film is as lively as Chris Penn is now? The infamous live show is HERE! 2 of our favorite guests, @BillSchulz and @JoNosuchinsky from @morninBillandJo on @compoundmedia rejoined us to do one of the 80s biggest darlings, The Karate Kid. Perfect timing right smack in the middle of the Cobra Kai popularity. Bill and Joanne have no love for this Jersey boy getting jumped every 5 minutes who becomes an indentured servant to a Japanese handyman. And Bill plays a message from a star from one of the Karate Kid films as he's none too pleased that this film is taking fire. But can this duo convince @KevinGootee and @KevinIsrael_NJ they're the best...around. The “Karate Kid” was a hero of the 1980s. Now he's back, with the actor Ralph Macchio reprising the role for the series “Cobra Kai.” The story is ostensibly a classic battle between a hero and a villain. But as Mr. Macchio notes, it's actually more complex. Audiences, he says, “recognize the good and bad in both these guys and are rooting for both with their two separate types of shortcomings and problems and demons.”On this episode of “Sway,” Kara and Mr. Macchio discuss how “Cobra Kai” got from YouTube to Netflix, and explore the show's underlying themes of toxic masculinity, bullying and polarized politics. You can find transcripts (posted midday) and more information for all episodes at nytimes.com/sway, and you can find Kara on Twitter @karaswisher.

Follow along as we try to make sense of this world that is run by Shadow Ninja Organizations and Karate Dojo Instructors. Annihilus's Aerial Butler Hello, and welcome to episode 254 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. And lo, there shall come an ending (of sorts). We're looking at Fantastic Four #183, featuring a battle at the Baxter Building, in which almost all of the in-progress plots come to a head almost seamlessly. You wouldn't guess that there were six writers involved in the creation of this comic. Or maybe you might... Anyway, Mantlo, Wein, Shooter, Stern, Macchio and Slifer team up with Buscema (S.) and Slifer to bring us this tale of Annihilus, abandoned androids, inopportune times to loot the Baxter Building, a reversal of a blow a head making you evil, and an ill-judged attempt to replicate the success of This Man, This Monster. All this, and a discussion as to the value of a retcon. Because we love you. Somewhat. We're 50 episodes in and we show no sign of slowing down. It's kind of like we're a never ending podcast, which is why this week, we're talking about the 1984 fantasy flick, The NeverEnding Story. Join us as we reflect back on our truly awful original logo, the mistakes we've made over the course of the show's 50 first episodes, and what we'd like to do in our next 50. (Hint: it involves more Macchio.) Then special guest Adam Pincas joins us to ask the tough questions about The NeverEnding Story. Why does the Nothing want to destroy everything? How can you be super sad and not get swallowed by the Swamp of Sadness? And doesn't this story in fact have a clearly defined ending? In our biggest and boldest episode yet, we dare to find out if The NeverEnding Story stands the Test of Time.
