A lonely Massachusetts crossroads has been claiming the lives of lawmen for over two hundred years—each one stabbed in the back in a spot so open no killer could possibly reach him, while the only sound in the dark is a woman's cold laughter.Look for this podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, and other podcast apps. Marshall introduces wealthy executive Robert Bayswell, a man whose endless "business trips" to New York have quietly covered a five-year affair with his mistress, Lolly "Dolores" Harbison. When Bayswell decides to end the relationship and return to his wife Martha, a struggle over a loaded .38 revolver sets a chain of events in motion — one that draws in nightclub photographer Julie Palmer and homicide detective Sergeant DeLuca, both circling a death no one can quite explain.2000 Plus delivers the science-gone-wrong terror of "The Giant Walks," in which the obsessed Dr. Ellsworth, having used a pituitary revitalizer to breed giant rats four feet long, sets his sights on the next logical subject — a human being. His powerfully built test subject Barstow is grown to thirty feet of muscle and bone, while uneasy assistant Weston watches the experiment spiral past anything Ellsworth can hope to control. The Unexpected stars radio's Lurene Tuttle in "Nightmare," the tale of understudy actress Jenny, who answers her door to a hideous, dwarf-like old peddler selling two dolls — one that cries and one that laughs. Against the peddler's strange warning, she chooses the laughing doll, and its contagious, mocking laughter begins to follow her everywhere she goes, into the theater, the subway, and her sleepless nights.Unsolved Mysteries presents a true-style ghost story told by foreign correspondent Jackson, who recalls a visit to a centuries-old medieval castle in Northumberland, England, complete with drawbridge, moat, and turrets — and its resident phantom, the Lady Evelyn, said to warn the family of any impending disaster. Sleeping in the haunted wing, Jackson is roused by a figure who writes a message in letters of fire across the stone wall, a warning tied to the RMS Titanic.Dark Venture stars William Conrad in "Hideout," the confession of small-time gambler Sam, who sits in on one of Phil Collins's famous high-stakes poker games, wins and loses a fortune, and ends the night shooting political big shot Mike Barnes. Fleeing to Chicago and a rooming house run by Dave Jordan, Sam stumbles into a carnival fortune teller, Madame Zara, who reads the cards and tells him he will die within three days at the hands of a man with white hair — just as hired killer Whitey Burke begins closing in.The Weird Circle summons its bellkeeper for the immortal Robert Louis Stevenson tale "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," in which Dr. Henry Jekyll brews a potion meant to separate the good and evil halves of a single man. The draught gives life to the stooped, deformed, and wholly malevolent Edward Hyde, who terrorizes the streets of London while lawyer Mr. Utterson, Dr. Lanyon, and the faithful butler Poole try to understand what their friend has unleashed. The Whistler brings the Signal-sponsored noir "Danger Is a Beautiful Blonde," as bored construction engineer Van Stevens, killing time in a small coast city on a Saturday night, is picked up on the street by a beautiful young blonde in a slick convertible. She drives him to a seaside mansion full of priceless art, and the flirtation turns to ice the moment she asks him to look under her bed — where a dead man lies hidden.Strange Wills stars distinguished Hollywood actor Warren William as attorney John Francis O'Connell in "Madman's Diary," a probate-court reading of the last testament of the late Professor Lucifer Nicolai. The diary records the professor's decade-long obsession: an electromagnetic experiment to separate the human mind from the body and hurl it backward along light waves into the past. His subject, a young orphan named Alice, is sent first to the age of King Arthur and Guinevere, then far deeper — a quarter-million years before Christ. The Witch's Tale, narrated by 122-year-old Nancy, the Witch of Salem, and her wise black cat Satan, tells "The Haunted Crossroads," where state troopers keep dying at a barren Massachusetts intersection — each one stabbed in the back in a spot so open no killer could possibly reach him and flee unseen. After young Trooper Tom Fallon falls beside his uncle Sergeant Pat McGee and friend Gene Hardy, the only clue is a woman's cold laughter in the dark and a curse reaching back to 1721 and a hanged woman named Goody Fairfax.X Minus One, hosted by Isaac Asimov, presents "Hostess," the story of biologist Rose Smollett, who brings home a guest from another world — the Hawkinsite physician Dr. Harg Tolan, a six-limbed being who breathes cyanide from a cylinder at his mouth. Tolan has come to Earth to study the dreaded "inhibition death," the wasting illness that kills his people, and his quiet questions about the missing persons bureau begin to unsettle Rose's policeman husband, Drake.Masters of Mystery offers the island thriller "Four Fatal Jugglers," in which business partners Gordon Penrose and Dave Copeland — tangled together by Gordon's wife Lydia and her demands for a divorce — head off for a weekend of duck hunting on a tiny, isolated island in the middle of a lake. Lydia's protective brother Bob is drawn in too, and with old grudges, suspicions of murder-by-hunting-accident, and a hunting knife in play, the trip becomes a deadly game of who can be trusted.Strange Adventure closes the night with a desert tale of two weather-beaten prospectors, gangling Slim Sandstone and his stocky partner Geordie Gaines, who walk into the bank of George Alden and deposit a canvas sack half-filled with uncut diamonds. Their secret field out on the desert is rich beyond belief, and the greedy banker schemes to maneuver the pair out of their claim — never suspecting what a salted diamond strike can teach a smart financial tycoon.

Welcome back to the show. Today's guest is someone who has spent decades making an unforgettable mark on both the big screen and daytime television. You know him as the intimidating Mike Barnes — the villain who squared off against Daniel LaRusso in Karate Kid Part III — a role he beat out over 2,000 other hopefuls to land. He then reprised that iconic character in Netflix's smash hit Cobra Kai. But his career didn't stop there. For years, he's been a fan favorite on one of the most-watched daytime dramas in the world, The Bold and the Beautiful, as the complicated, charismatic Deacon Sharpe. On top of all that, he's an Emmy Award-winning producer, a published author, a stand-up comedian, and a martial artist. Sean Kanan is truly one of a kind, and I am so glad to have him here today. Sean, welcome to the show!WLPWR Podcast Website: willpowerpodcast.orgGet your copy of Rick Segal's book, The Heart of It here: https://amplifypublishinggroup.com/product/nonfiction/business-and-finance/entrepreneurship/the-heart-of-it/Read Rick Segal's blog: https://impactinvestorsegal.com/blog
These two brothers sold a profitable airsoft business to bet everything on a sport most people had never heard of. In 2014, Rob and Mike Barnes founded Selkirk Sport in the pickleball space—back when the sport was small, the products were cheap, and the category felt entirely mom and pop. Eleven years later, the company is valued at over $200 million with revenue up 1,900% since 2019, and pickleball is closing in on tennis as America's most-played racket sport. In this interview, the co-founders of Selkirk Sport break down how they built the premium brand in an emerging category—from serializing their first 360 paddles expecting mistakes, to investing $1 million into a dedicated R&D lab, to their contrarian take on athlete sponsorships and why signing a pro is only 30% of the work. What you'll learn in this interview: • Why they sold a profitable business to go all-in on a sport nobody had heard of • How serializing their first 360 paddles shaped Selkirk's premium quality obsession from day one • Why they invested $1 million in an in-house R&D lab instead of white-labeling cheap product like everyone suggested • The four P framework (Product, People, Process, Promotion) that's driven Selkirk's growth from day one • How they built an in-house marketing agency and cut all external agencies to move faster at lower cost • Why athlete sponsorships are only 30% of the work—and why investing in promotion is what actually builds brand equity • Their counterintuitive COVID strategy: reduce hours, keep every employee, and bet on the rebound • Why they launched SLK by Selkirk as a separate sub-brand to compete at lower price points without destroying the premium brand • How Selkirk Labs—a members-only experimental product program—created a real-time consumer feedback loop • When and why they moved away from digital advertising and became one of the only pickleball brands buying linear TV • How they identified the coming consolidation in pickleball and why they took on strategic investment from Bluestone Equity Partners to be part of it If you're building a brand in an emerging category, navigating the tension between premium positioning and mass-market growth, or trying to turn a niche obsession into a category-defining company, this conversation will fundamentally change how you think about brand building, product strategy, and timing your bets. Send us a textEpisode 552"Cobra Kai" and "The Karate Kid Part 3" | Actor: William Christopher Ford | (Dennis de Guzman)William Christopher Ford aka Christopher Paul Ford played strong but silent Cobra Kai bad boy, "Dennis", in "The Karate Kid Part III". He was made aware of an open casting call for "KKIII" for the part of "Mike Barnes" from a good friend and stood in line with hundreds of other young hopefuls. Director, John Avildsen came out with a camera man and started going down the line to take a look at all the talent and stopped to talk to a fortunate few including Ford who gave the director his headshot. About a week later, he got a call from Casting Director, Caro Jones, who called him into read for the part of "Barnes". About a month later he got a call from Jones telling him that the part of "Mike Barnes" had been cast but they wanted him to come down to the set because they needed an actor/stunt person/martial artist to play one of the supporting "bad boys". So Ford met with Stunt Coordinator Pat Johnson and Director John Avildsen the next day and was cast as "Dennis". At this writing, Ford is a 5th degree black belt in Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate and studied directly with Sensei Richard Rabago and with Master Tadashi Yamashita. He has also studied Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Kick-boxing. He began studying Martial Arts in 1974 at the age of seven. Ford left the Entertainment Industry for many years to help raise his two kids but returned in 2006, and at this time he also changed his professional name to William Christopher Ford to honor his father who passed away in 2005. He has also worked as Chris Ford, William Ford and "WC" Ford.William was inducted into the Masters' Hall of Fame on Aug. 11th, 2012 and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement in recognition of his commitment and contribution to the martial arts. He dedicated the acceptance of this award to his late martial arts mentor, Sensei Richard Rabago, who had suggested Ford for the award before his passing in May, 2012.Welcome, William Christopher Fordwww.mmcpodcast.com#cobrakai #thekaratekid #karatekid #terrysilver #johnkreese #daniellarusso #cobrakaiedits #cobrakaiseason6 #karatekid3 #karatekidmovie #karatekidlegends #blackbelt Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mondaymorningcritic/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mondaymorningcritic/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mondaymorningcriticMondaymorningcritic@gmail.com
On the 100th episode of Taste Buds with Deb, host Debra Eckerling speaks with Sean Kanan, author, actor, Emmy-award winning producer, and founder of Bad Boy Hot Sauce. Kanan, who has portrayed Deacon Sharpe on CBS's “The Bold and the Beautiful” since 2000, got his Hollywood break playing bad-boy Mike Barnes in “Karate Kid III.” He reprised this role on the fifth and sixth seasons of “Cobra Kai” on Netflix. “Martial arts has always been an important part of my life since I was probably about 14, 15 years old,” Kanan says. “The tenets of martial arts are something that I try to embody every day: courage, honesty, humility. … I look at my life as being very holistic and everything that I do, even though it may seem like they're very different pursuits, they're all interconnected.” His latest books are the series: “Way of the Cobra,” “Welcome to the Kumite” and “Way of the Cobra Couples,” co-written by his wife, Michele. His new food venture, Bad Boy Hot Sauce - flavors are Cobra Venom, Mango Madness and Red Pepper Punch - are also on-brand. “Bad boy Mike Barnes, bad boy karate, Bad Boy Hot Sauce,” he said. “It seemed like there was a good synergy there, and it's been really fun.” Kanan talks about his food philosophies and his favorite Jewish foods, Bad Boy Hot Sauce, martial arts, and living a life of humility and gratitude. He also shares a pasta recipe - pappardelle gemelle - from “The Modern Gentleman: Cooking and Entertaining with Sean Kanan,” along with the backstory. Get the recipe at JewishJournal.com/podcasts. “You break bread with somebody and have a great meal, [then] authenticity tends to come out: walls get dropped, commonalities get brought to the forefront,” he says. “I've always recognized that food has that power.” Learn more about Sean Kanan, at SeanKanan.actor and BadBoyEats.com. I met Dr. Mike Barnes in 2018, when I served as executive coach for the leadership at the Foundry, the addiction treatment center here in Steamboat Springs, CO, where he served as Clinical Director. My respect and appreciation for Mike grew quickly in the course of that partnership, built especially upon Mike's willingness to learn from anything and anyone–despite the long alphabet salad of credentials behind his name and his position of esteem in the addiction treatment, trauma, and family therapy community. Since then, our paths have continued to cross, and I've continued to benefit greatly from his friendship and mentorship. This year, he published his first book, When the Solution Becomes the Problem: Helping Families Struggling with Addiction and Trauma. Unlike most books on families and addiction that give prescriptive advice, this book partners with families to help them understand why implementing expert recommendations can be so challenging. By delving into the “why,” families gain insights into their current crisis and the factors contributing to it. Ultimately, the book aims to guide families away from the perspective of “we are a family with a loved one who struggles with addiction” towards embracing the identity of “we are a family in recovery from addiction and trauma.” By fostering understanding, empathy, and actionable guidance, it empowers families to break free from the cycle of addiction and trauma, promoting healing and a renewed sense of togetherness. It's a pleasure to introduce you to Mike and provide a glimpse into an innovative and compassionate approach to helping families struggling with addiction and trauma. Their new book "Way of the COBRA Couples" is available now! https://youtu.be/cY_UIJclv9I?si=bmPOGknFUBjlVDSI
Actor, writer, author, comedian, and Emmy® award-winning producer Sean Kanan's first role in Hollywood was bad-boy "Mike Barnes" in the blockbuster franchise film Karate Kid III. In 2022 Kanan reprised his iconic role, receiving critical acclaim in the pop-culture hit series' 6th season of Cobra Kai, now streaming on Netflix. Kanan also appears as bad boy with a heart of gold, "Deacon Sharpe," on the world's most-watched daytime drama, CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful, and has portrayed the same role on its sister show, the number one daytime drama in the U.S., The Young, and the Restless. Before joining the premiere daytime lineup, Kanan played "AJ Quartermaine" on General Hospital. His other credits include two 2021 films with Bruce Willis, Survive the Game and The Fortress, and the Lifetime movie Sinister Society. Is something holding you back from achieving your dreams? Maybe, you're being held back by negative people, or perhaps by self-defeating thoughts in your own mind. If that's the case, then things are about to change. It's time to kick the negativity out of your mind and become the most powerful and loving person you can possibly be. On our Love University podcast, we recently had the pleasure of meeting up with Sean Kanan, star of Cobra Kai and the iconic Karate Kid franchise. Aside from being an award-winning producer and consummate actor (Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful), Sean has written self-empowerment books (wayofthecobra.com) and dedicated his life to showing students how to overcome obstacles and reach their dreams. Here is some of the wisdom we learned from this special interview with Sean: *Be a Cobra. A Cobra is someone who is authentic, self-aware, empathetic, strong, and humble. They epitomize a blend of paradoxical characteristics that make them a Compassionate Warrior. They're ready to fight to defend their principles and protect others from harm, while at the same time being compassionate, loving, and empathetic. Like the Mike Barnes character in the current Cobra Kai series, season 6, the Cobra can offer tough love and discipline, while also being an inspiring mentor to help others grow. *Never compromise your character. Sean tells us that reputation is what others say about you; character is what you say about yourself, and what you do when no one is around to watch you. Guard your character with everything you have; it is the essence of who you are, your authenticity, your inner power. With it, you can conquer the world; without it, the world will conquer you. *Win the battle for your mind and be reborn each day. You need to metaphorically die each day to your old limiting self (self-defeating mindset). Every day when you wake up, resolve to be a better version of who you were the day before: wiser, kinder, more compassionate, more humble, tougher, and stronger. Each day, you will let go of the person you were yesterday. If you fell short or made a mistake, today you will start fresh; you will do better. Today, you will forgive yourself for your past errors and create a new, more powerful, and more loving you. These are just some of the life-changing secrets we learned from Sean on how to kick the problems out of your life and achieve personal mastery. Be a Cobra, never compromise your character, and be reborn every day. If you do these things, you will conquer your inner world and achieve your dreams as you help others achieve theirs. In this episode, I sit down with Mike Barnes, an expert in strength and conditioning and a hunter himself. We discuss common myths related to training for hunting, backpacking, and preparing for the mountain! We address how progressive overload and endurance training are more important than solely focusing on carrying a heavy pack for miles on end. We also dive into how training for uneven terrain is best achieved by actually spending time hiking and walking on uneven surfaces, rather than relying on balancing exercises on unstable surfaces. It is important to consider the specific terrain and challenges of backcountry hunting when designing a training program. We continue to cover topics such as training for injury prevention and specific exercises for injury prevention, choosing the right footwear, building cardiovascular endurance, alternative methods for building endurance, avoiding intense workouts for backcountry preparation, and the importance of mindful and intentional workouts.

Ever since Cain killed Abel — or, to put it in old Hollywood terms, ever since JOAN FONTAINE rebuffed OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND at the 1941 Oscar ceremony — sibling relationships have been complicated. In this episode we take a look at famous Hollywood siblings, some of whom you may know, others who may be a complete surprise. We'll discuss the operatic singing superstar and her ghoulish TV star sister, the suave urbanite brothers who played bad guys and heels with equal aplomb, and a quartet of singing sisters from the Midwest who melted hearts in the 1940s. But, rest assured, unlike Cain and Abel (or Joan and Olivia), not all of these siblings relationships were as toxic.
