Join me for My Midleton Distillery Garden Chat with Barry Chandler, Dan Pennington, Paul Costello and Mark Lonergan. I set up a marquee out my back garden over Xmas 2024. The lads called up, Dan was on BBQ duty, I made Belfast Coffees, we had a ball. I asked Midleton Master Blender Dave McCabe for a sample set from the Midleton blending lab. He very graciously sent me an amazing array of aged whiskeys, that he was working on at the time. Midleton Distillery have vast depths of amazing liquids maturing quietly. It was amazing to get a little peak behind the curtain, of what whiskeys they have in store for the future. Paul Costello and Emma Kathryn from The Yearbook Committee Podcast return to Flixwatcher to review Paul's choice Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Glass Onion (2022) is a standalone sequel to Knives Out written and directed by Rian (Brick) Johnson. Daniel Craig reprises his role as detective Benoit Blanc. This mystery sees Blanc joining a group of “Disruptors” on a private Greek island for a murder mystery weekend hosted by Miles Bron (Edward Norton), a Elon Musk type tech bro and founder of Alpha. His guests include model-turned-fashion designer Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson), the governor of Connecticut Claire Debella (Kathryn Hahn) and her assistant, video game streamer Duke Cody (Dave Bautista) and his girlfriend and co-founder of Alpha and Miles's ex-business partner Andi Brand (Janelle Monáe). As with Knives Out, Glass Onion takes the classic murder mystery genre, throws in several red herrings and is full of fun and enjoyable performances from the ensemble cast. While not quite as intriguing and original as Knives Out, but still fun, Glass Onion still scores high on recommendability and engagement to score 4.23 overall [supsystic-tables id=357] Episode #343 Crew Links Thanks to the Episode # 343 Crew of Paul Costello (@)PaulCinephile) and Emma Kathryn from The Yearbook Committee Podcast Please make sure you give them some love More about Glass Onion For more info on Glass Onion can visit Glass Onion IMDB page here or Glass Onion Rotten Tomatoes page here. Join me for My Tasmanian Whiskey Garden Chat with Dan, Paul Costello & JP. This Garden Chat was recorded a couple of months back. I was gifted a box of Tasmanian Whiskey samples from Transportation Whiskey founder John Halton up at Belfast Whiskey Week 2023, who is one of the biggest advocates for Irish Whiskey in Australia and Tassie Whiskey in Ireland. It is a selection from some of the many distilleries in Tasmania and it didn't disappoint. JP O'Riordan, Dan Pennington and Paul Costello joined me in my back garden and we had a ball discovering all these new flavours. Emma Kathryn and Paul Costello from The Yearbook Committee Podcast join Flixwatcher to review Emma's choice Spirited Away. Spirited Away (2001) is an animated Japanese fantasy adventure from Studio Ghibli written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Spirited Away tells the story of 10-year-old Chihiro who enters an enormous bathhouse for Japanese spirits (kami) after taking a short cut on her way to her new house. Her parents also take the short cut but are turned into pigs when they feast on the food left out for the spirits. While in the bathhouse Chihiro meets many different spirits, including a polluted river spirit and No-Face, who ends up eating one of the bathhouse workers. There are also lots of other weird and wonderful spirits too complicated to explain here, it is best to just watch and enjoy. Recommendability for Spirited Away was very, very high, it was the also the first Studio Ghibli watch for many UK fans. High scores for the other Flixwatcher categories gives Spirited Away an overall rating of 4.39. In this episode of Two Women Chatting Liz and Michelle talk to Patsy Dhir, a personal stylist and colour expert who has worked with celebrities such as Julien MacDonald OBE, Paul Costello, Huishan Zhang and Sharon Wauchob as well as working on catwalk shows including London Fashion Week. They ask Patsy to share her tips on choosing fabrics with 'climate control', the importance of good underwear (or shape wear), how to camouflage our less favourite wobbly bits and how to save money when you need an outfit for a special occasion. She also talks about how to make your wardrobe more sustainable giving both planet-saving and money-saving advice, reveals how our bodies change every 7 years and gives tips on how to dress for your unique self. KEY TAKEAWAYS Shop your wardrobe, look at what you already have, and can you reinvent it with accessories or even have it altered. There are many ways you can elevate an existing outfit. Try to buy natural and organic fabric pieces and look at things that are classic rather than trend-led. Pre-loved is a great way to get unique and sustainable outfits for your wardrobe. You can also look at hiring something high-end without the price tag of buying it. The best breathable fabrics for long or hot days include natural fabrics such as cotton, linen and ecovero. Linen mixes can be an alternative for a crease-free outfit. If you are petite, then buy petite ranges, otherwise, the proportions will be out and won't do you justice. Any clothes size can still be 'petite' if you are 5'2" or under. As an apple shape, pay attention to where the waist sits on clothes, a-lines and wrap tops can work very well and ensure to accentuate your slimmer legs with a shorter hemline and the right shoes. Spanx and control wear can make an outfit look sleeker and give you extra confidence. Underwear provides the foundation for any outfit. BEST MOMENTS “It's not about buying brand new outfits every time” “You can go searching for amazing designers and a fraction of the price” “Just be a bit more mindful about when you're buying, what you're buying and what is it made from as well” “Buy well, buy less and buy sustainable” “We have to be a bit kind to ourselves and appreciate our bodies” “Underwear is the building block to your outfit” If you enjoyed this episode, please rate, and review it on your podcast platform. 2.00" Paul Galvin, Kerry GAA legend, as you've never heard him before. He tells how his continuing 8 year collaboration with Dunnes Stores started, how he hand delivered his autobiography to Dunnes supremo Margaret Heffernan. After ten years of teaching he grew tired of the repetition, he was no longer enthused. He was, however, always enthused by design, even a simple Mitre football he looked at as a 'lovely object of design'. He says he's probably a frustrated architect and he has a BIG interest in 'bio-architecture', something he learnt about from a Netflix series called 'Abstract' and Israeli architect called Neri Oxman. based at MIT. He looks at stadia on Google Maps, and draws inspiration from their beautiful shapes. He he makes a connection between the GAA and Dunnes Stores, as part of the Irish cultural heritage. The first connection was made when he sent his book, 'In my own words' to GAA fan Margaret Heffernan on the instigation of Irish Independent journalist Bairbre Power.Comparing Paul Galvin with another Dunnes Stores brand, Paul Costello, Paul G. says he has no plans to expand outside men's clothing and footwear, where he says there's plenty of space to expand. The longtime leader of the Vermont Council on Rural Development is stepping down September 30. For 21 years, Paul Costello has helped towns and cities across Vermont envision how to build stronger communities. Looking back on that work today, he still can't stop talking about the future.“We have to be committed in new ways at this point in our history,” Costello said last week. Facing big-picture challenges like climate change and entrenched racial injustice will require even more individual participation, he said. “The only thing we can envision is a better Vermont — and us putting ourselves on the line for it.”
Paul Costello and Emma Kathryn from The Yearbook Committee podcast return to Flixwatcher remotely to review Paul's choice Adaptation. Adaptation is the 2002 Charlie Kaufman comedy-drama directed by Spike Jonze and starring Nicolas Cage as Kaufman and his fictional twin brother Donald. It also stars Meryl Streep as real life author Susan Orlean and an Oscar winning Chris Cooper as John Laroche. Adaptation fuses fiction - Donald, the relationship between Orlean and Laroche - with real life - Kaufman's writers block and The Orchid Thief - the end result is a mind bending mash of genres. Adaptation is equally funny and heartbreaking at the same time and often unexpectedly. Cage delivers a career best and received an Oscar nomination as both the doubting and obsessive Charlie and the happy go lucky and dorky Donald. [supsystic-tables id=234] However, Adaptation is weird and not for everyone and that is the caveat for recommendability scores. A score lower repeat viewing but higher for engagement gives Adaptation and overall score of 3.97. What do you guys think? Have you seen Adaptation? What did you think? Emma Kathryn and Paul Costello from The Yearbook Committee podcast join Flixwatcher remotely to review Emma's choice Death Becomes Her. Death Becomes Her is a 1992 goth, camp, PG body horror comedy starring Meryl Streep as Madeline and Goldie Hawn as Helen life long frienemies and Bruce Willis Dr. Ernest Menville, the long suffering man in the middle. Isabella Rossellini co-stars as Lisle von Rhuman the eternally youthful provider of the magic potion both Madeline and Helen take to preserve their youth and beauty. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, Death Becomes Her is notable for its groundbreaking special effects - winning the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects - that are both deeply grotesque and also humorous. The film was a moderate success at the time but in recent years has found a place as a fond cult classic and has been adopted by the queer community. [supsystic-tables id=220] Death Becomes Her scores very highly across recommendability from guests and Flixwatcher and generously across all the other categories only to fall short on small screen to score 3.95 overall. The line separating local from global issues is blurring. Inequality, climate change, the integration of migrants and refugees, and the growing influence of China are just some of the critical transnational issues affecting cities today. None of it can be properly addressed or resolved without the world's metropolises and their leaders. On this episode of Out of Order, we're talking about the burgeoning role of cities in international affairs -- how cities conduct diplomacy and how they work with one another to solve global problems. In recent years we've seen the creation of many offices dedicated to international affairs in cities, professionalizing international engagement and building a key vertical connection that gives the local level a voice in a multi-layered global environment. Our guests this week are two people who know this field well: Dr. Gabriele Goldfuss, Director of the Office for International Affairs for the city of Leipzig in Germany; and Ambassador Henri-Paul Normandin, former Director of International Relations for the city of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. Both Gabriele and Henri-Paul are also members of a new network of City Directors of International Affairs, recently launched by GMF Cities. This week's episode is hosted by GMF's Paul Costello.

To mark the 20th anniversary of her untimely death, people from across the UK recall meeting Diana, Princess of Wales. Diana married Prince Charles in 1981 and was a fixture of British life for nearly two decades. And in this special programme, people who got to know her well, as well as those who only met her very briefly, reflect on their connection with the Princess Among those recalling their meetings with Diana - Charles Stonehill a friend of one of Diana's flatmates in the days before she was a member of the Royal family, former HIV nurse John O'Reilly who met her when she kissed hands with an Aids patient in 1987 and land mines survivor Jerry White who was with Diana just weeks before she died. Clothes designers Jacques Azagury and Paul Costello recall their first meetings with Diana while comedy actor Cleo Rocos talks about meeting Diana with Queen frontman Freddie Mercury and comedian and DJ Kenny Everett. There are anecdotes from astrologer Russell Grant, original EastEnders' star Anita Dobson and Falklands War veteran Simon Weston. Others recalling their meetings with Diana include Nick Hardy from Gloucestershire who recounts a kiss he's never forgotten and Annette Horner from East Yorkshire who met the Princess after giving birth to her first child. The Day I Met Diana is from an idea by Ian McCormick and is produced by Ashley Byrne and Iain Mackness. It is Made in Manchester Production for BBC Radio 5Live.
