Nothing truly prepares you for the pain of losing your husband. It changes everything—your daily rhythm, your sense of security, your future. If you—or someone you love—is walking the path of widowhood, I want to gently introduce a resource that offers comfort and strength in the midst of heartbreak. In this week’s episode of The Love Offering Podcast, I’m sharing about a devotional titled Widow’s Might: A 365-Day Devotional for Widows. This beautiful book weaves together powerful stories from women who have walked this road before—women who have found solace, strength, and the sustaining love of Jesus. This devotional isn’t just a book—it’s a companion for your grief and a light for your journey. It’s a place to be reminded that you’re not alone, and that God is still writing a story of redemption in your life.

Rachel Faulkner Brown's story is one of pain, resilience, and ultimate freedom. After losing her first husband to an aneurysm just days after September 11, Rachel navigated the deep waters of grief and loss at the age of 24. Despite the heartbreak and confusion, her faith in God kept her anchored through it all. But Rachel's journey didn't stop with her loss. Two years later, she remarried and began a new chapter of life with her second husband, Blair, and their children. However, tragedy struck again when Blair died in a plane crash, leaving Rachel to grieve once more.In this episode, Rachel shares her powerful journey of healing, the importance of confronting and releasing deep-rooted secrets, and how her story is now helping other widows find freedom and restoration through her ministry, Never Alone.Takeaways:1. Healing Begins When We Face Our PainRachel's story teaches us that healing can only begin when we confront our emotional pain, rather than suppressing it. Secrets may seem to protect us, but they only keep us stuck. By addressing the hurt, Rachel found freedom and was able to move forward with a renewed purpose in her life and ministry.2. Faith Transforms Our Grief into PurposeRachel's experience highlights the importance of leaning into faith even during the darkest times. In the midst of her grief, she realized that her story wasn't just for her—it was meant to help others. God took her deepest pain and turned it into a ministry that now helps other widows heal and find hope.3. Ministry Is Born Out of Brokenness Rachel's ministry, Never Alone, started in the wake of her grief. What began as a small retreat for widows grew into a life-changing ministry that helps women process their losses, embrace healing, and step into a new season of hope. Rachel encourages us that even in our darkest moments, God is preparing us to be a light for others.Rachel's journey reminds us that no matter how deep our pain, God's grace is always available to heal, restore, and transform. May her story encourage you to trust in God's faithfulness and find hope even in the most difficult seasons.Bio:Rachel Faulkner Brown tragically lost two husbands before she was thirty-one years old. Out of Rachel's healing, she founded Never Alone Widows, the largest Christian widows' ministry 501c3 in the country. Never Alone Widows currently has 70 chapters from California to Maine and reaches thousands of widows daily through the organization's social media platforms, their partnerships with the Gary Sinise Foundation, and Bob Goff's Love Does foundation. Never Alone Widows has published the only video series specifically designed to support widows on RightNow Media, the world's largest library of video-driven Bible study resources. Rachel also cowrote Father's House, an eight-week, video-driven Bible study that has helped thousands of women find freedom from their past and grace for their future. As a United States Air Force Gold Star widow, Rachel has shared her story nationally hundreds of times through Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization helping to provide educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders. Rachel's greatest ministry is her family, her husband, Rod, and her children, Davis and Campbell. Together they reside in Atlanta, Georgia.Anchor Verses:Genesis 50:20Connect with Rachel:Website:  www.RachelFaulknerBrown.com IG: https://www.instagram.com/rachelfaulknerbrownNever Alone Widows: https://www.neveralonewidows.com***We love hearing from you! Rachel was married right out of college and, at 23, lost her first husband to a brain aneurism. A few years later she remarried and with a 5-month-old and a toddler she lost her second husband to an Air Force Plane accident. God took Rachel on a journey of healing that went way beyond her grief to freedom from the constraints of religion and the boundless power of grace. Out of her own healing, speaker and author, Rachel Faulkner Brown, founded Never Alone Widows, the largest Christian widows’ ministry 501C3 in the country. Her new book, Widow’s Might: 365 Days of Strength for Grief and Loss offers powerful stories of women who have walked the path of widowhood and found solace, strength, and peace along the way. In this conversation Rachel shares her own story of loss, the journey of grieving and the journey of healing, regretting that her husbands didn’t know the version of her she is today, and trying to do the “Christian thing” verses getting real with a real God. Honestly, there is something in this conversation for each of us. Also, Shawna shares how she reluctantly knocked on the neighbors door to confess she ran over their chickens and left with a dozen eggs. That’s grace.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshow/wgnbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to the Pinkleton Pull-Aside Podcast. On this podcast, let's step aside from our busy lives to have fun, fascinating life giving conversation with inspiring authors, pastors, sports personalities and other influencers, leaders and followers. Sit back, grab some coffee, or head down the road and let's get the good and the gold from today's guest. Our host is Jeff Pinkleton, Executive Director of the Gathering of the Miami Valley, where their mission is to connect men to men, and men to God. You can reach Jeff at GatheringMV.org or find him on Facebook at The Gathering of the Miami Valley.I'm Rachel Faulkner Brown, a girl with a past like your worst nightmare and a present that is pretty darn fun. I have lived through losing two husbands tragically in an instant, one to an aneurysm and one in an Air Force plane crash.  I love marriage so much that I took a chance on it again and married the most interesting man in the world who is our rock and our secret weapon on most days. My favorite jobs are being a wife, clearly, I've done it three times, and being a mom to my two love nuggets, Davis and Campbell. My kids are tweens and they are so honest that you want to laugh so hard and in the next moment squeeze their little faces off because you love them so much. What a season of extreme everything we are in but I relish every minute. From recorder torture aka practice to slicked back hair for ballet recitals, it is just pure joy to watch your kids grow in wisdom and stature. My role as a mom is the hardest most rewarding thing I have ever done or will do. I love ministering to women! Whether I'm on the road speaking or through my ministry Be Still, I especially love the women who are the younger version of the girl I once was.  You know the ones….bored Christians who know there has got to be something better, emotionally bankrupt, broken, and great at hiding.  I love freedom more than anything else on earth and find myself saying at least once a day..it is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. I really want to be your friend and I would love to take you bargain shopping and walk out of a store in a new outfit that cost us less than a cup of fancy coffee.  Jesus, healing, freedom and my family are my jam.

How do you continue on in faith when pain and tragedy seems to plague your life? How can you keep going towards healing and wholeness when heartache relentlessly comes into your life? Those were the questions Rachel Faulkner Brown had to wrestle with after losing not one, but two husbands: one in an unexpected medical trauma and the other in a military plane crash. As a young widow twice, Rachel knew what it meant to experience pain, but learning to experience God's comfort took some time. It took her truly understanding God's abundant love for her, even when her circumstances felt quite the opposite. Since experiencing those losses, she has since remarried again and has walked with her husband through depression and anxiety and started a ministry for widows, encouraging them to hope in their pain to purpose journey. Through it all, Rachel has found a rich faith that is rooted in trusting Jesus in every season of life. While it has never been easy, it has been what has carried her through the valleys she has encountered. In this episode, Davey sits down with Rachel to discuss the importance of knowing our identity and God's love for us before we can ever begin to heal, how our worship can become a weapon against the enemy, and the power of encountering God's comfort in our pain. Chances are you haven't experienced the level of loss and pain that Rachel has, but this conversation will spur you on in your journey towards faith and hope in whatever hurt you are enduring.   Website: www.rachelfaulknerbrown.net www.bestillministries.net Instagram: www.instagram.com/rachelfaulknerbrown www.instagram.com/neveralonewidows Want to find out how you too can remove the debris of crisis in your life and move forward with a renewed sense of victory and purpose? As we figure out how to navigate the various things that life puts in front of us, we may question whether we're always doing the right thing. When we don't know what to do, it's good to remember what Jesus says that can help put us on the right path: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” [John 13:34] “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.” [John 15:13] Some people do literally lay down their lives on a daily basis for others. But the rest of us can choose to lay down our lives and love extravagantly in smaller, every-day living type ways. Those moments when we go out of our way to help someone in need are always something we can know is the right way to go.  James Patterson is considered the world's bestselling author, and he's the creator of beloved, enduring fictional characters like Alex Cross, Michael Bennett, and is also known for his critically-acclaimed narrative nonfiction, including works like Walk In My Combat Boots, and E.R. Nurses. When James started writing his new book, Walk the Blue Line, he was astounded, despite recent events that reflect poor choices by police officers, by the good so many other police officers are doing out there, and the challenges they face each time they put on their uniform. Luke Sherman, a former police officer, has experienced thirty years of some of the scariest situations imaginable. Now, he's taken a new role at the nonprofit organization Folds of Honor, founded by Dan Rooney, and has helped expand their scholarship program from military families to also include the families of America's first responders. Rachel Faulkner Brown is a gold star wife whose children were scholarship recipients from Folds of Honor, and now as one of the organization's speakers, Rachel shares how she is passionate to help the families of first responders move from tragedy to hope for the future.    Links, Products, and Resources Mentioned: Jesus Calling Podcast Jesus Calling Jesus Always Jesus Listens Past interview: Gary Sinise Upcoming interview: Nazareth John 13:34 NIV John 15:13 NIV   James Patterson  Walk In My Combat Boots E.R. They need them every day.” - James Patterson “Now, more than ever in my lifetime, people just need to go somewhere where they can be at peace and believe that somehow it's all going to turn out in a good way, you know? And the crazy thing [is] the truth will set you free. I think it does.” - James Patterson “Education can never be taken away from us. There are very few things in this world that can't be taken away, and that is definitely one of them, which is why I'm so passionate about having a good education for my children and any other child, because I do think it is the gift that never stops giving.“ - Rachel Faulkner Brown “I look back and I'm like, Oh, my gosh, what You have done with something the enemy meant to take me out, honestly, to take out me and my children. Look what God has done and flipped it on its head and said, ‘Don't worry, Rachel, I've got people that are going to take care of you and your little children, just like Joseph told his own brothers.'” - Rachel Faulkner Brown “The work that you do sometimes you don't see the results of. But if it's done with good intentions and the foundation of our faith behind it, it'll change lives. It'll bring mountains down.” - Luke Sherman “Everybody has fear. But what are we going to do? Because there's something more important. And from every crisis and tragedy, I think there's an opportunity.” - Luke Sherman  ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! This week kicks of the Month of Missions series! This is a 4-part series where I'm bringing on some of my favorite ministries to share about the heart behind their missions, how God has used it to grow their faith, and how you all can get connected with them! We start off this week with Be Still Ministries! Karen McAdams and Rachel Faulkner Brown join me to talk about how their ministry began, the power of prayer, and their hearts behind wanting women set free from their bondage! Meet Karen:At 17 years old I walked the aisle of the big white church and prayed “the prayer” to get my golden ticket. But it was another 17 years before I ever heard the Lord speak to me personally, and when He did I was completely blown away! That day was a catalyst in my life that undid me in every good way and began my healing journey, unraveling decades of carrying the heavy burden of shame from childhood trauma. Now, whether I am teaching bible studies or doing inner healing prayer, I am passionate about leading women to the Truth that sets them free, empowering them to lay down the masks and walk in the beauty, power and authority they have as daughters of the Most High. Since emerging into my years as an empty nester, I have passionately found a deep longing to equip women. As the Director of Equipping for Be Still Ministries, I collaborated to release a video didven bible study curriculum called Father's House in 2020. I am greatly blessed to have three amazing strong men in my life, my husband Kevin who I have been married to for almost 25 years and my sons, Connor and Cade. Connect with her here - @karenmcadams1111Meet Rachel:Rachel Faulkner Brown is a girl with a past like your worst nightmare and a present that is pretty darn fun. Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!I hope that you are doing well in your part of the world, and that wherever this episode today reaches you that you will be able to say "it is well with my soul." My podcast guest today, Rachel, has an incredible story. She has experienced the depths of grief and has found freedom through a relationship with Jesus. I'm so excited for her to share her story with you. Let me introduce you...Rachel Faulkner Brown is a girl with a past like your worst nightmare and a present that is pretty darn fun. She has lived through losing two husbands tragically in an instant, one to an aneurysm and one in an Air Force plane crash. She loves marriage so much that she took a chance on it again and married the most interesting man in the world who is their rock and secret weapon on most days. Her favorite jobs are being a wife, and being a mom to her two teenagers, Davis and Campbell. Her role as a mom is the hardest most rewarding thing she's have ever done or will do.Rachel loves ministering to women. Whether she's on the road speaking, writing bible studies, or creating healing retreats for widows, she just loves the younger version of the girl she once was. You know the ones….bored Christians who know there has got to be something better, emotionally bankrupt, broken, and great at hiding. Yes, that was her. She loves freedom more than anything else on earth and finds herself saying at least once a day..it is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. She really wants to be your friend and she would love to take you bargain shopping and walk out of a store in a new outfit that cost you less than a cup of fancy coffee. Jesus, healing, freedom and my family are her jam.Contact Rachel:Instagram: instagram.com/rachelfaulknerbrown/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bestillministry/Website: https://rachelfaulknerbrown.net/Contact Jason:hello@jasonperkoperkins.comInstagram: @jasonperkoperkinsTwitter: @perkosplaceFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/jasonperkoperkins/https://linktr.ee/jasonperkoperkinsIf you like what you hear, feel free to share this episode with a friend! With two husbands in heaven and one here, Rachel has walked a road most will never wander and she inspires joy and hope everywhere she teaches and shares her story. Rachel is a teacher and storyteller marked by vulnerability, passion, and humor. One minute you are crying and the next minute laughing at the crazy things she has experienced in her years as a twice widowed woman trying to meet her third Mr. Right. She is committed to women encountering the person of Jesus everywhere she goes and knows that the Holy Spirit goes before her and behind her in every situation. On Rachel's healing journey, she and several friends birthed a ministry called Be Still which Rachel still stewards from Atlanta today.
