Allah Ta'ala says in the Noble Qur'an; “…and those who control anger and forgive people. And Allah loves those who are good in their deeds,” (3:134) Allah Ta'ala tells us in the Noble Qur'an what the reward for those will be who do not take revenge and observe Sabr (patience); “…Certainly those who observe patience will be given their reward in full without measure.” (39:10) The Holy Prophet ﷺ said, “Silah Rehmi (fulfilling rights of one's relatives) is not that one gives back what one receives. Silah Rehmi is that even if the other person cuts off relationship with him, he still fulfills the other person's rights.” In a Hadith the Holy Prophet ﷺ said; “Allah Ta'ala does not like any sip a person drinks more than the sip of his own anger (meaning suppressing his anger and not expressing it)” The Holy Prophet ﷺ said, "if a person harms someone, and then the person who was harmed forgives him, then Allah Ta'ala will forgive the forgiver on the day he will need forgiveness most, that is, in the Aakhirah (Hereafter).”

Imam Bukhari (may Allah Ta'ala bless him) has written a book in which he has collected those Ahadith of the Holy Prophet ﷺ which relate to Islamic etiquettes related to different walks of life which the Holy Prophet ﷺ has taught us through his own practice. One of these etiquettes, and a Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, is that a person keeps mingling with people and greets them with a smile. Even though the Holy Prophet's (ﷺ) every Sunnah is lovable, but there is one particular Sunnah which has been reported in Tirmidhi Sharif which seems to be the most difficult to follow, even though it was his usual habit. It has been narrated that when someone was talking to the Holy Prophet ﷺ, he never turned his face away from that person until he turned away first, and never cut him off while he was still talking. When a person has hundreds of demands on his time, someone is asking him a religious question, someone is describing his difficulties, someone is making another demand, only then it is possible to appreciate how difficult it is to follow this Sunnah in one's daily life. Then there are some people who, once they start talking, never stop. While listening to such people, not moving away until that person finishes is a very difficult task. But the Holy Prophet ﷺ who lived only for 23 more years after he was granted Prophethood, had to perform Jihad, had to perform Tableegh (preaching), how to teach his Sahabah about Deen, who was sent for betterment of the whole world, even despite all of these demands on his time, if an old woman stopped him on the way, he did not turn his away from her until he had satisfied her fully. Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him), recited the following verses from the Torah; “He will come as a deliverer for the illiterate (امی)”. The Arabs of the time were called ‘illiterate' because they did not have a tradition of reading and writing. “And you are my subject and my Messenger”. Further on, Allah Ta'ala has described the characteristics of that Prophet; “Neither will he speak harshly, nor will he have a harsh temperament.” “And he won't be one to make noise in the Bazar.” “And he won't respond to bad behaviour with bad behaviour.” “Rather, he will be forgiving and will let go of things.” “And God will not recall him to Himself until he straightens this misguided nation in that they say ‘There is no God but Allah'.” “and through this kalimah of Tauheed (oneness of Allah) He will open their blind eyes, and will open their deaf ears, and those hearts which are covered in wraps will open through this kalimah.”

People Love A Smiling Face Have you ever entered a store or shop, and the workers seemed to have just sucked on a sour lemon? Unfortunately, most of us have had those experiences.  It makes you scratch your head and wonder why they are in business at all if they can't at least be thankful that someone has blessed them by allowing them to serve their needs.  Those that don't have a good attitude about their work will probably not stay employed or be in business very long.  The culture of any company starts with the owners or top managers within that company.  If an owner of a business is not friendly and helpful to their employees, they should not expect the employees to be any different to the customers.  You can tell almost immediately what the culture of a company or business is when you walk into it.  That is why it is so essential that attitudes and values flow from the very top of the company.  If the owner or top management does not reflect integrity and values, they should not be in that position.    As imagers of our creator, God, we should always show forth His goodness in every life situation. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Titus%202%3A6%2D8&version=NLT (Titus 2:6-8) In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely.  And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Recently I had the honor and privilege of speaking with the legendary Cappie Pondexter. Born in Oceanside California. Grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Attended John Marshall Metropolitan High School in Chicago followed by Rutgers University 2002-2006. In the WNBA draft she was a first round pick, selected second overall by the Phoenix Mercury. As a rookie, she earned the honor of being selected to the western conference WNBA All Star Team. She went on to earn the following accolades: 2x WNBA Champion, WNBA Finals MVP 2007, 7x WNBA All-Star, 4x Turkish National League Champion, 2007 Turkish Cup Winner, 2x Russian National League Champion, and 3x Russian Cup Winner. She is also an Olympian. In 2008, Cappie represented the United States on the Women’s Basketball Team in Beijing winning gold. Cappie’s name is on the list of the WNBA’s Top 15 Players of All Time. In addition to Cappie’s accomplishments in athletics, she created a successful company called 4 Seasons Style Management which gives her an entrepreneurial outlet for her love for fashion. It's when, in the language of the mystics, the "King is in the field." We can realize a relationship with G-d during this month that is radically different than at any other time of the year. But there's one very curious detail of the "King in the field" parable. The Kabbalists teach that as the king is in the field, he receives everyone pleasantly, and shows them all a smiling face. What's the significance of the king's "smiling face"? Why is that relevant to the larger point, namely, that G-d makes Himself available during the month of Elul. On the Forum@8 tpday we look at the phenomenon of racism in South Africa. Many say it is a subject South Africans cannot afford to wish away. But in his recent article, Political analyst Aubrey Matshiqi says, in post-apartheid SA, racism has assumed a form and content that sickens physically, psychologically and emotionally. Matshiqi says he's been trying hard to retire from the race debate, because he feels it is no longer the racist who is the pariah, but that the pariahs are the ones who, like him, are supposedly race-obsessed, when they try to show that colonial and apartheid racism has mutated into a new, but by no means less virulent form of racism
