SHATTERED CHILD: I was born in Sri-Lanka in 1973. I was adopted and brought to Australia with my presumed biological sister in 1976. My story is one of strength, courage, and sadness, of a girl trying to fit in somewhere in this world. Adopted twice and then removed from a home twice, I was physically, mentally, emotionally and sexually abused. I was bullied as a child and attacked as a teenager. I had great things happen to me and I had the worst. I tried to be strong and sometimes I tried to give up. I was lost in my own world and at times could see no way out of it. I found support in very few people, and the ones who I thought should have supported me were the ones who hurt me the most. My trust in people vanished. When I no longer lived in the family home, I found people who supported me. I had to learn to trust that they wouldn't hurt me and that they in fact loved me, scars and all. I had to become a strong, independent woman and learn to live my life the way I wanted to, and understand that no one has the right to harm me in any shape or form. I wrote this memoir in anticipation of people reading it and seeing that there is hope for those who have struggled or are still struggling in their lives. Take each day as it comes, the good and the bad.   ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sumie Filmer is now in her early fifties, happily married to the man who changed her life. She and her husband live in Queensland, Australia, and together they have two adult children in their late twenties. Though her earlier years were marked by deep pain and sadness, and she continues to have difficult days, a diagnosis of complex PTSD and anxiety has given her clarity. It helped her understand that her thoughts and emotions are shaped by the trauma she experienced. J'ai eu la chance d'accompagner Stéphanie dans plusieurs de ses aventures bleutées, et je dois avouer être un peu tombée amoureuse de cet univers unique et magique à mon tour. Quelle est la meilleure façon de s'y prendre pour se lancer dans la peinture sumi-e ou dans la peinture chinoise ? Comment choisir du matériel adapté ? Dois-je commencer ma peinture par la tige de cette fleur ou bien par ses pétals ? Pourquoi est ce que ça fait une grosse tâche dès que je pose mon pinceau sur ma feuille ? Etc etc… J'ai commencé mon apprentissage en 2016, au Japon, et je suis passée par ces multiples phases de questionnements moi aussi. J'ai eu la chance d'être accompagnée de mon sensei, qui était là pour répondre à une partie de toutes ces questions, mais il y a aussi des réponses que j'ai dû trouver toute seule, à force de recherches et d'expérimentations pendant les années qui ont suivi. Et donc, je me suis dis que cela pourrait être une bonne idée de vous donner mes conseils pour vous lancer dans la peinture sumi-e de la façon, à mon sens, la plus simple, la plus agréable, la plus douce possible. L'idée étant toujours de progresser suffisammant pour, le plus rapidement possible, réussir à s'amuser, et à faire passer une émotion, une atmsophère, une sensation, dans ses peintures. Belle écoute

Certains pensent par exemple (à tort) qu'il s'agit d'un papier fait en fibres de riz, d'autres qu'il s'agit exclusivement d'un papier à motifs destiné aux origami, etc… Émilie part régulièrement rendre visite aux artisans qui fabriquent à la main ce papier traditionnel de haute qualité, dans des régions souvent reculées, à travers tout le Japon. 011:Say Yes even if you aren't 100% confident with Sumie Yakamawa Today's Featured Global Woman: Ms. Sumie Yamakawa Sumie was born and raised in a small town in Aichi, Japan. Sumie came to Canada when she was 17 years old as an exchange student and she fell in love with this country!  After she graduated from a college, she has started working in a wine industry. She worked at a small winery at her first career and after 2 years of working with this winery, she got an opportunity to work with a mid-sized family owned winery where her real career experience begun. She was in charge of all the Asian tourist groups(i.e. Getting contract to bring groups to the winery, creating unique program, booking groups etc) After few years, she realized that there is a limitation to her career  if she worked for a family owned business and the only skill she had was that she speaks Japanese. That's when she decided to take sommelier program. During the sommelier course, she met her future colleague who helped her to move on to the biggest and most internationally known winery in Canada. She was still taking sommelier course when this great opportunity came and she decided to take it.
