During this episode of the Your Radical Truth podcast, host, Margaret Mary O'Connor, talks with Catherine Marie, woman priest. They delve into the captivating story of Catherine Marie's remarkable journey of spirituality and self-discovery. From her Catholic upbringing to her exploration of various faith traditions, Catherine's quest ultimately led her to become an ordained priest in the Independent Catholic Church. Catherine shares the challenges she faced, the truths she discovered, and the profound significance of everyday spirituality in her life. Catherine Marie's Spiritual Odyssey: Catherine Marie's spiritual journey commenced within the confines of the Roman Catholic Church, where she was baptized and raised. However, her dissatisfaction with the Church's treatment of women and the imposed limitations on them propelled her to seek alternative paths. As a nurse, wife, and mother, she embarked on a quest to uncover her own spiritual truth, venturing into different denominations and even traveling to India, where she explored Hinduism and Buddhism. During her exploration, Catherine encountered the concept of a feminine image of God, which challenged the prevailing male-dominated perspective within Christianity. She resonated deeply with the notion that spirituality transcends gender and that women are equally capable of answering their divine calling. Her experiences and observations gradually led her to question the power dynamics and patriarchal structures entrenched within religious institutions. What's up to my perspicacious pelicans and jaunty jerboas! Welcome back to the BNP and thank you for joining! I'm back in the saddle after life forced me to take a couple weeks off, and back with a wild and woolly episode that features a little something for everyone. The ep starts off proper with a zany audio tidbit, then moves to a segment examining the proven physics of the water powered car, electrolysis and splitting the water molecule, and the hydrogen fuel cell that makes it possible. The fact is, we do have the technology to achieve this, but powerful forces who are dedicated to preserving the status quo and perpetuating the supremacy of oil and gas continue to sabotage the effort. I tell the story of Aaron Salter Jr., the security guard at Tops Market in Buffalo, NY, who was shot and killed defending the store during the mass shooting event on May 14, 2022. Salter was a gifted engineer who had successfully designed a functional water-powered vehicle. He is not the first genius engineer who has died suddenly and under bizarre circumstances after inventing a water powered engine. We dive into the history of the hydrogen fuel cell, the inventor Stanley Meyer (and his untimely death), and I feature an interview with Salter himself discussing his revolutionary breakthrough. Article Link: The Conspiracy Against Water Powered CarsWe then move to a conversation featuring Justin Ohldguy, author of Killing Your Lion, an important book which dives into a timely topic: how to be an old school man in the muddled, confused and baffling modern world. We dive into the nuances of his book, why he chose to write it, and we examine the in's and outs of this critical topic in general, utilizing snippets of the manuscript to frame the discussion. Enjoy the conversation! Support Justin Ohldguy and Buy Killing Your Lion here.I finish off the episode with a brief solo segment where I share about what's been going on in my life personally, my apartment getting broken into and trashed, dealing with so much loss and death in the family, cumulative grief and the process of grieving, and just continuing to move forward and thrive despite it all. Onward and upward, the only constant is change and we have no choice but to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Episode 54 When a community experiences a crisis such as a mass shooting, hurricane or terrorism, well-intentioned “outsiders” often come in and try to help. But as our guest Rev. Dr. Willard Ashley, Sr. points out, it's important to learn the language and understand the culture of the impacted community before attempting to meet its specific needs. In this episode, you'll learn how psychotherapy can help a faith-based community heal from trauma. "Every neighborhood is different. Our goal is to be a part of the community by being a part of the solution, whether providing the right product mix or lending a hand with one of our outreach programs. We recognize that it is about the people we serve in the communities in which we live." As you watch this episode, listen as Jeff Cady shares from his heart about the company he loves, the co-workers he takes great pride in working alongside, and the communities they serve. Two weeks ago, an unfathomable incident took place in Buffalo at one of the Tops Markets. Two weeks and two days ago, we recorded this show. We don't know the answers to the violence and hopelessness that is tearing at the moral fabric of our country, we do know that we all need to reflect on the circumstances and times in which we are living and be the ones we are waiting for, choosing to do good every day, and be willing to answer and be responsible for our actions. Please take note of this link: https://www.topsmarkets.com/BuffaloSurvivorsFund (https://www.topsmarkets.com/BuffaloSurvivorsFund). Tops Market has partnered with the National Compassion Fund to allow you to give wings to your feelings and provide direct financial assistance to the survivors of the deceased and those directly affected by this tragedy. We stand with you in seeking positive, common-sense changes that support mental health, hope, and changes to the outlook and circumstances that motivated this brutally violent behavior.
Ken and Betsey bid farewell to Carla. They celebrate Chicago's wonders. Tragically, Buffalo was the scene of yet another deadly shooting, perpetrated by a young assailant, heavily armed, with evil intent. His reasons were disturbingly clear - his manifesto rooted in white supremacy. The same weekend, there was a fatal shooting in Geneva Presbyterian Church in Orange County, CA. The mid-term elections loom large, with great consequence. The perils of a Republican victory in the midterms included Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader, Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House, and Jim Jordan as (probable) House Judiciary Committee Chair. Frank Schaeffer, son of Francis Schaeffer, has repudiated his role in the 1980s in giving birth to the far-right agenda so dominant today.
