Observing six months since the racist shootings at Tops Market on Jefferson Ave. killed 10 people and looking at emergency room and hospital capacity in Canada after a spike in RSV cases
Mark Talley is the son of Geraldine C. Talley, who was killed in the Tops shooting by a white supremacist on May 14th, 2022. Prior to this date, Mark just went along through the trials and tribulations of life believing there was nothing he could do, he was just powerless. Afraid of what he would say or do, Mark just started volunteering everywhere he could on Jefferson Ave for the next several months to channel his emotion. After doing all this volunteering, Mark started feeling an urge to become more of a community leader / social advocate. This led to him forming his own nonprofit “Agents for Advocacy” and organizing his first charitable event on July 7th, 2022 “The Community BBQ and Prayer”. Mark in collaboration with others was able to serve over 700 hotdogs and hamburgers along with providing bags of fresh produce, gifts, appliances, and meats. On April 28th Agents for Advocacy organized a back-to-school drive in which over 500+ children were provided backpacks, calculators, pens/pencils, folders, and notebooks. Currently, Agents for Advocacy is raising funds to provide a Thanksgiving for the homeless. In this episode, I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Zion and Storm from "The All Over Podcast" as we discussed the aftermath and culture since the horrific mass shooting on May 14, 2022 in Buffalo, New York at the local Tops market. Zion and Storm both currently live in the neighborhood where this racially targeted tragedy took place. Zion and Storm was able to discuss the current culture of their neighborhood and how many others have been affected and ways other people can help their community. On May 14, 2022, a armed 18 year old entered the Tops market in Buffalo, New York on Jefferson Ave and opened gunfire killing 10 individuals and injuring 3 others. The shooter targeted this Black community and streamed the encounter online in which has been taken down. This incident has been labeled as a "hate crime" and "an act of racially motivated violent extremism" by the Department of Justice. Please continue to keep the community, victims and families of the eastside of Buffalo New York as well as Uvalde Texas in your prayers and please lets continue to raise awareness for the voiceless and those in these communities that are in need of help and resources. Ten people were gunned down at a Buffalo supermarket Saturday in a horrifying mass shooting that officials were quick to label as "pure evil" and racially motivated. The shooting stunned a community basking in a warm May afternoon, with shoppers filling the Tops in a predominantly Black neighborhood at 1275 Jefferson Ave. Of the 13 people shot, 11 were Black and two were white, Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said. Most of the victims' identities weren't released as of late Saturday night. However, sources told The News that one of the dead was Aaron Salter, a recently retired Buffalo police officer working as a security guard at the store, while another is Ruth Whitfield, the mother of former Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield. Kendrick Lamar is a giddy dramatist. He loves to pack his music with perspectives, personifying his many characters and muses with distinct voices, cadences, and beat switches that bring them to life. She is constantly promoting and supporting other artists. You will love her as a singer/songwriter, but you love her more as a person. "Ann Arbor singer/songwriter, Judy Banker, writes songs rooted in vintage country style. Torch songs rife with intrepid melodic lines that twist and turn in delightful, unexpected ways, yet stay true to the genre. Her voice, tangy and bright as fall cider, brings to life articulate, arresting songs of lost love and the perfidy of human nature. Reminiscent of Loretta Lynn and Rose Maddox, Judy Banker's music remains contemporary, rich in everything the modern listener appreciates about old-time country music." Maggie Ferguson, host of WXOU's The Old Front Porch Radio Show and Live! From the Living Room Acoustic Showcase Loren Kranz is one of the most in-demand musicians in the state. A founding member of the acclaimed group the Barbarossa Brothers. He is also a regular in Erin Zindle & The Ragbirds, The Mark Lavengood Band, The Straight Eights, and many more. Jerry Pickerings wife Deb Pickering came in to talk to us about the 2019 MS Walk and their team "Short Circuit" The type of MS that that Jerry has is Relapsing-remitting MSRelapsing-remitting MS is defined by inflammatory attacks on myelin (the layers of insulating membranes surrounding nerve fibers in the central nervous system (CNS)), as well as the nerve fibers themselves. During these inflammatory attacks, activated immune cells cause small, localized areas of damage which produce the symptoms of MS. Because the location of the damage is so variable, no two people have exactly the same symptoms.Sunday, May 19, 20191-mile and 3 -mile routes availableToledo, OhioAge Minimum: Open to all agesStart/End LocationHuntington CenterStarting from:500 Jefferson Ave. Toledo, OH 43604ScheduleOnline registration will close at noon on the Thursday before Walk MS: Toledo.
