80% of women entrepreneurs report feeling held back by limiting beliefs. That startling statistic underscores why conversations like this one with Erin Newman matter so much. On the Your Radical Truth podcast, hosted by Margaret Mary O'Connor, Erin dives deep into how unexamined beliefs can sabotage success—and how tapping, hypnosis, and somatic practices can radically transform your life and business. From Catholic Roots to Soul-Led Coaching Raised in the Catholic tradition, Erin Newman grew up with a set of beliefs that subtly (and not so subtly) influenced what she thought was possible, especially as a woman. Over time, she unraveled those internalized messages and began helping other women do the same. Today, she is a spiritual life and business coach for female entrepreneurs who want to embrace their soul's calling and generate sustainable income doing what they love. Through her unique blend of somatic, subconscious, and ancestral healing tools, Erin supports her clients in regulating their nervous systems, releasing self-doubt, and welcoming in financial and emotional abundance. The Belief-Shifting Magic Process Erin shared a practical and powerful technique she calls the Belief-Shifting Magic Process, which integrates EFT tapping—a method that involves gently tapping on acupressure points while talking through limiting beliefs or emotional stress. While tapping may seem unconventional, it's backed by science and widely recognized for calming the nervous system. “You don't need homework or equipment,” Erin explains. “You just start tapping and talking. It's like a deep breath for your energy system.” Whether it's fear of launching a podcast, anxiety about money, or feeling stuck in a career, Erin shows how even 10 minutes a day of tapping can move emotional blocks and create space for new outcomes. Hypnosis: Rewriting the Inner Narrative In addition to tapping, Erin often guides her clients through self-hypnosis, a gentle but effective way to bypass the conscious mind and plant new, empowering beliefs. She describes it as “creating a new movie in your mind”—one where peace, joy, love, and success are not only possible but expected. By bringing her clients into a deeply relaxed state—what she calls “the liminal space”—Erin helps them reprogram stories of not-enoughness into narratives of worth, expansion, and purpose. In the 1960s, as images of police dogs and fire hoses unleashed on Black Americans filled TV screens across the nation, a generation of children—Black and white—were learning, in real time, the searing reality of racism in America. It was a pivotal time, one that promised change with the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision in 1954, but failed to deliver on that promise for decades. Today, those struggles echo loudly in our current climate, as books are banned, history is whitewashed, and communities once again fight for a seat at the table. On this episode of Your Radical Truth, I had the honor of speaking with Dr. Regina Vincent-Williams, a transformational speaker, author of Split Shift: Busing and Desegregation, 1954–2024, and a living witness to the trauma and resilience of school integration in Alabama. “We Survived It”: A Firsthand Account of Integration Growing up in Alabama just miles from Birmingham, Dr. Regina experienced the fallout of a society grappling with change. In 1970—sixteen years after the Supreme Court ordered school desegregation—her high school, Talladega High, finally integrated. But what should have been a move toward equality came with devastating consequences. Students were separated by "split shifts"—a scheduling scheme that limited educational access and fractured lifelong friendships. Some students, many of whom had never even been in a fight, were permanently expelled with no hearing, no return date, and no diploma. “I wondered myself how I got into college,” she said. “I didn't have advanced math, foreign language, or hard sciences. Yet somehow, I made it. Others weren't so lucky.” This wasn't just Talladega—it was systemic across the South. Communities had over a decade to prepare for integration, yet when it finally came, the result was chaos, displacement, and erasure. Full post at: https://www.YourRadicalTruth.com/031-Dr-Regina

On a recent episode of Your Radical Truth, host Margaret Mary O'Connor welcomed Dr. Brad Montagne, a functional medicine expert with over four decades of experience helping patients recover from chronic illness. With a global reach and deeply holistic approach, Dr. Montagne laid bare the systemic failures of modern medicine while offering empowering solutions for those seeking true healing. A Broken Medical System and the Rise of Chronic Illness According to a 2008 article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, medical education has remained largely unchanged for over a century. This outdated system produces doctors unprepared to handle 75% of their patients—those suffering from chronic illnesses. Dr. Montagne pulled back the curtain on this crisis, revealing how most medical schools teach virtually nothing about chronic conditions. Instead, the focus remains on acute care and pharmaceutical solutions, leaving countless patients misdiagnosed, dismissed, or untreated. The Origins of Functional Medicine Functional medicine began as a grassroots movement among chiropractors and nutritional experts seeking deeper healing through holistic practices. Dr. Montagne credits early pioneers and his own decades of research for shaping his comprehensive approach. He emphasized that true functional medicine evaluates the root causes of illness—such as gut health, environmental toxins, and stress—not just symptoms. Dr. Jeffrey Bland is often cited as the father of functional medicine, but as Dr. Montagne noted, it was the original clinical techniques, not lab tests, that held the real power. Unfortunately, many practitioners have since drifted from those foundational diagnostics, chasing protocols over personalization. Full post at: https://www.YourRadicalTruth.com/030-Dr-Brad-Montagne

From hidden biblical metaphors to personal awakenings, this conversation invites us all to re-examine the divine with fresh eyes. Meet Catherine Cowell: A Guide for Spiritual Exploration Catherine Cowell is no stranger to deep reflection and meaningful mentorship. As an adoptive parent, she works closely with families of children with additional needs, helping them weave together parenting and spirituality—a focus that also shapes her current PhD research. In addition to her coaching and spiritual direction, Catherine is the host of the Loved, Called, Gifted podcast, where she unpacks themes of identity, purpose, and faith. Based in Stoke-on-Trent, England, Catherine brings both scholarly insight and lived experience to her work. The Question That Opened a Door Catherine recalls the pivotal moment that set her on this journey. Over lunch, a friend casually remarked, “If men and women are both made in God's image, then God must be just as feminine as masculine.” That simple statement stirred something unexpected within her. “I felt both agreement and discomfort,” she shares. “It was like my inner ‘good Christian' voice told me not to go there. But I couldn't ignore the nudge.” That nudge eventually led to Finding God's Feminine Side, a book that challenges traditional paradigms and invites readers to explore the feminine within the divine. Back by popular demand, Father Anne delves even deeper into the pressing issues surrounding women's roles in the clergy, offering candid insights and powerful perspectives. Synodality and the Future of the Catholic Church Father Anne offers a compelling analysis of Pope Francis's efforts to implement Vatican II's synodality. While acknowledging the historical significance of the synod process, she highlights its shortcomings. Synodality's promise to include the global church in meaningful discussions has often faltered due to resistance from bishops, leaving many Catholics unaware of its existence. According to Father Anne, the next Pope will play a pivotal role in determining whether synodality takes root or fades back into the hierarchical, monarchical model of the past. For true progress, the Church must openly acknowledge unresolved doctrines, particularly regarding the ordination of women. More at: www.yourradicaltruth.com/025-father-anne

Many women today take for granted the ability to apply for a credit card or mortgage in their own name. Yet, as recently as 50 years ago, this was not the case. It wasn't until the passage of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act in the 1970s that women were legally allowed to access credit without a husband or father's signature. Behind this groundbreaking legislation was Margaret Heckler, a trailblazer whose tireless work reshaped the landscape for women's rights and equality. On the Your Radical Truth podcast, host Margaret Mary O'Connor sat down with Kimberly Heckler, author of the upcoming book A Woman of Firsts: Margaret Heckler, Political Trailblazer. The conversation revealed Margaret Heckler's extraordinary contributions to politics, health, and veterans' affairs, painting a vivid picture of a woman who fought relentlessly for justice and equality. From Lawyer to Political Pioneer Margaret Heckler's journey to political prominence was nothing short of groundbreaking. As one of the first women to graduate from Boston College Law School, she was undeterred by rejection from male-dominated institutions like Harvard Law. Her legal career laid the foundation for her entry into politics, where she defied odds to become a congresswoman, Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), and U.S. ambassador to Ireland. Her role in securing women's financial independence through the Equal Credit Opportunity Act is just one example of how Heckler used her position to challenge societal norms. At the time, Heckler was one of only 11 women in Congress, and she worked tirelessly to bring her male colleagues—and even skeptical female peers—on board with her vision for gender equality. The Inspiration Behind A Woman of Firsts Kimberly Heckler's personal connection to Margaret Heckler inspired her to write A Woman of Firsts. Married to Margaret's son, John, Kimberly first encountered Margaret during her tenure as ambassador to Ireland. Over years of Sunday dinners and heartfelt conversations, Kimberly gained insight into the life of a woman whose accomplishments had shaped the course of history. “I realized these stories must be shared with the world, not just kept within the confines of the Heckler family,” Kimberly explained. After seven years of research and writing, including combing through hundreds of boxes of Margaret's personal and professional records, Kimberly completed the biography to honor Margaret's legacy. Even those with deep-seated skepticism can experience profound shifts in faith. Julie Hannah, a retired university lecturer of mathematics, set out to discredit religious claims but instead discovered a new depth of understanding in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Her journey from agnosticism to faith is a testament to the transformative power of inquiry and introspection. A Lifelong Quest for Meaning Julie's early life was shaped by a secular upbringing, where she was encouraged to question traditional religious narratives. This skepticism led her to explore philosophical ideologies such as existentialism, stoicism, and nihilism. She also ventured into various religious traditions, including Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism, searching for a cohesive explanation of human existence. Despite her extensive exploration, none of these belief systems satisfied her intellectual curiosity. The Turning Point: Encountering the New Testament Julie approached the Christian scriptures with the same critical mindset she applied to other religious texts, initially aiming to discredit them. However, her study of the New Testament, particularly the four Gospels, revealed a level of intellectual and spiritual depth she hadn't expected. Jesus's teachings, parables, and debates captivated her, offering answers to questions she had long grappled with. Contrary to her initial skepticism, Julie found in Jesus a figure who embodied both divine wisdom and human empathy. The Evolution of Faith and Scholarship After years of study and introspection, Julie's intellectual pursuit gave way to a deeper spiritual realization. Her first book, A Skeptic's Investigation into Jesus, captured her journey from skepticism to belief, offering readers an analytical yet deeply personal account of her transformation. In her latest work, The Seventh Covenant, Julie takes a more immersive approach, blending historical fiction with religious insight, allowing readers to experience the world of first-century Palestine through the eyes of her characters. She is deeply involved in supporting women discerning their vocations, and her work as a spiritual writer has been featured in various publications. Early Life and Spiritual Calling Sister Julia's journey began on a farm in Iowa, where she cultivated a deep connection with nature. Her path to religious life was anything but conventional. Sister Julia's formation included earning an MA in pastoral studies and becoming a certified spiritual director. Her work now focuses on supporting women discerning their vocations, offering a blend of spirituality and activism that challenges conventional norms. While visiting her family farm to say goodbye before it was sold, she fell from a cliff, shattering her face. Alone in the woods, she had to climb back up the cliff and seek help. This traumatic event forced her into a profound period of reflection and prayer during her novice years, leading her to question her future in the sisterhood. The Power of Presence: A Miraculous Encounter During her recovery, Sister Julia experienced a miraculous encounter with a male nurse named Jesus in the ICU. As she embraced roles as an RCIA teacher and Cantor, Deacon Adina found fulfillment in serving her community, yet the call to ministry lingered beneath the surface.   Awakening to Vocation: A Transformative Experience In 2013, Meyer's life took an unexpected turn during her attendance at the SOA Vigil in Fort Benning, GA. It was here that she witnessed a woman presiding over an inclusive mass, igniting a profound realization of her own calling to priesthood. This revelation shattered barriers and propelled her towards a new understanding of her faith.   Pursuing the Call: Education and Mentorship Driven by her newfound sense of purpose, Deacon Adina made the courageous decision in 2019 to leave her role as a high school humanities religious teacher and pursue full-time studies at Portland Seminary. Under the guidance of mentors like Diane Whelan, she became associated with the Holy Wisdom Inclusive Catholic community, laying the groundwork for her future as a priest.   Ordination and Service: Answering the Call After years of preparation and discernment, Adina was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church with RCWP last summer. This milestone marked a significant step in her journey towards priesthood. With graduation from seminary looming, she is poised to be ordained as a priest on May 25th, ready to continue her service and ministry within her community.   Challenging Misconceptions: Redefining Leadership In her conversation on the Your Radical Truth Podcast, Deacon Adina addressed common misconceptions surrounding women in religious leadership roles. She emphasized that her calling to priesthood stemmed from a deep sense of service rather than a desire for power. Additionally, she spoke passionately about the importance of accepting individuals from all walks of life, including the LGBTQ+ community, within the Catholic Church.   A Trailblazer's Legacy: Inspiring Others Deacon Adina Meyer's journey from devoted Catholic educator to ordained Deacon and soon-to-be priest is a testament to the transformative power of faith and courage.   As she continues her ministry, her story serves as an inspiration to individuals seeking to challenge traditional norms and pave the way for a more inclusive and compassionate religious community. Armed with a BA in Psychology and Philosophy from Boston College and an MA in Educational Psychology from New York University, Rita's journey into the realm of biblical scholarship and advocacy has been both profound and purpose-driven.   At the heart of Rita's mission lies a deep commitment to restoring the historical memory of early Christian women leaders, with a special emphasis on Mary Magdalene. Prepare to embark on a profound journey through the intricacies of the Catholic Church as we delve into Episode 11 of Your Radical Truth podcast. In this episode, host Margaret Mary O'Connor engages in a candid conversation with the remarkable Bishop Cáit Finnegan-Grenier, offering a glimpse into the concealed truths that often lie beneath the surface.   Bishop Cáit's life story is nothing short of extraordinary. Born into an Irish family deeply rooted in music and poetry, she draws spiritual inspiration from her beloved grandmother, setting the stage for a unique spiritual journey. From there, she followed a winding path to become an ordained priest in the Celtic Christian Church and a member of the Order of the Merciful Christ.   But this path was not straightforward. It was shaped by an unlikely love story – her marriage to an ordained priest in 1980. Together, they faced numerous trials and tribulations, ultimately leading them to establish the Good Tidings Ministry, a platform dedicated to addressing the painful issue of sexual abuse within the Church.   This experience reinforced Cáit's belief in the urgent need for individuals within the Church who serve willingly, transcending clerical entitlement. Her ministry extends to providing spiritual guidance to abuse victims and priests transitioning from clerical life.   The conversation takes a thought-provoking turn as it explores the challenges faced by married priests and their spouses within the Catholic Church. Bishop Cáit and her husband recognized the need for support within their community, giving rise to the Good Tidings Ministry, which offered assistance, legal guidance, and a network for individuals navigating complex relationships involving priests.   Abuse scandals within the Church are also addressed head-on. The discussion underscores the importance of accountability and sheds light on the parallels between victims of abusive priests and those of abusive sisters. Bishop Cáit emphasizes the critical necessity of acknowledging wrongdoing, breaking free from institutional structures, and protecting all victims.   The impact of celibacy on the priesthood is another critical topic of conversation. Bishop Cáit acknowledges that celibacy can pose significant challenges, with some priests not genuinely called to it, leading to loneliness and personal struggles. She believes that celibacy, in many ways, affects the priesthood's image and attractiveness to new vocations.   Throughout the episode, you are introduced to the Celtic Christian Church, a spiritual home that welcomes individuals of diverse backgrounds, orientations, and experiences. This inclusive environment provides a refreshing alternative to traditional Catholicism, emphasizing spiritual richness and openness.   Bishop Cait's story is a testament to the courage of individuals committed to uncovering hidden truths and advocating for change within the Church. It also highlights the transformative power of Celtic spirituality, providing an inclusive and welcoming spiritual home for people from all walks of life.   Explore these profound insights into the Catholic Church and spirituality by visiting www.YourRadicalTruth.com/011-Cait-Finnegan .  #YourRadicalTruth #CatholicChurch #Inclusivity #Transformation #CelticSpirituality #AbuseScandals

Survivors of abuse often find themselves living a secret existence, hidden behind a curtain of pain and shame. The scars they bear are not just physical; they cut deep into the core of their being, leaving emotional wounds that fester in silence.   Yet, there are those who refuse to let their voices be stifled, who summon the courage to step into the spotlight and break free from the shadows of their past. Sinead O'Connor was one such individual, a true testament to the power of defiance and the resilience of the human spirit.   Sinead's Formative Years   Growing up as an Irish Catholic woman, Sinead O'Connor faced a world that often misunderstood her. She possessed a rare gift—undeniable talent as a songwriter and artist—that set her on the precipice of stardom.   But beneath the surface, beneath the allure of her burgeoning fame, lay a fierce determination to expose the truth about child abuse within the Catholic Church.   In an audacious act of protest, Sinead O'Connor took center stage on Saturday Night Live, armed not with a microphone, but with a symbol of her dissent.   Clutching a picture of former Pope John Paul II, she tore it to pieces, a defiant gesture aimed at redirecting the world's attention towards the heinous reality of child priest sexual abuse. Digging deeper into what it means to be a woman in a leadership role in the Catholic Church, host Margaret Mary O'Connor and Father Anne discuss the history of the Church like you've never heard it before. A question Father Anne receives frequently is, “Why did you choose ‘Father' as your title?” She chose the title for a few reasons. First, in the Roman Catholic Church, this is a conduit of a symbol heavily relied upon of God's action in and through the symbolism. Father Anne is fully aware that she is stretching the symbol to include the body of a woman, and this is a way to expand the Catholic imagination. Taking on the same commitments as her male counterparts, such as celibacy, prayers of the Roman Missal and the traditional language of the church, Father Anne is one of 260 ordained Roman Catholic Priests around the world. Father Anne is fully aware that many Catholics are not on board with women being ordained. And yet, this is part of her ministry… raising awareness. Both Margaret Mary O'Connor and Father Anne feel the need to raise this awareness about changing times.  According to both, Catholics are unprepared for the normal growth that must take place if we are in relationship with a living God. http://www.YourRadicalTruth.com
