  The annual Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight and tomorrow night, August 12th & 13th. I like to use the Perseids as an excuse to create a spacey, ambient mix for stargazing. So here it is. The first track I grabbed for this mix was Jeff Pearce - For The Perseids, from the Gemstones IV compilation. How could I not use that cut in a mix like this. So I decided to look for other tracks with names that would fit and it was fairly easy to find a bunch that worked. Again, how could I resist tunes called "Luminous Dust Trails" and "Night Drifters" and "Comet Tails." Get outside and scan the skies. La historia de las versiones extendidas se remonta a los 70s. En pleno furor “Disco” los DJs necesitaban versiones más largas para las pistas de baile, no las versiones de 3 minutos que sonaban en las radios. Así fue que las discográficas, ayudados generalmente por los propios DJs, comenzaron a publicar los singles de baile en formato de 12 pulgadas, con versiones extendidas. Durante los 80s esta moda continuó, no solo dentro de la música de baile. Prácticamente todos los singles publicados tenían su versión extendida en formato de 12 pulgadas. Se trataba de versiones de 7 u 8 minutos con intros, puentes y finales instrumentales más largos. En algunos casos se potenciaba el sonido de la batería o se agregaba alguna percusión o coro. No fue hasta finales de los 80s con la llegada del House cuando llegaron las remezclas tal como las conocemos hoy en día (modificando el BPM o directamente la melodía) llegando a crear una nueva canción. Fergus Sweetland is a Melbourne-born, London-based artist known for his wonky, wobbly, and rhythm-driven take on contemporary techno. Blending texture, atmosphere, and groove, his music crafts immersive narratives that tap into instinct and emotion. His DJ sets echo the same spirit—dynamic, playful, and always evolving. A core member of the Hayes Collective, Fergus has released on respected labels such as Illegal Alien, NRBK, Connection Verified, and his own imprint, Pressure Systems. The label reflects his belief that sound is pressure, and music is its system—a platform for total creative freedom and raw self-expression. This mix was recorded in July 2025 at The Glove That Fits as the closing set for Fossil Archive. The concept was to present an album in the context of a DJ set - something I'd been wanting to explore for a while. For this first attempt, I chose Spread by Heiko Laux. Heiko is like an older brother to me, so it felt special to honour his work in this way. You could say it was a Heiko Laux night.     I've been listening to the ECM record label since the 1970s. You can always count on ECM to put out interesting and sometimes great records. My favorite ECM release is Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians." It's not only my favorite ECM album, it's one of my top albums of all-time. A real desert island record for me. La historia de las versiones extendidas se remonta a los 70s. En pleno furor “Disco” los DJs necesitaban versiones más largas para las pistas de baile, no las versiones de 3 minutos que sonaban en las radios. Así fue que las discográficas, ayudados generalmente por los propios DJs, comenzaron a publicar los singles de baile en formato de 12 pulgadas, con versiones extendidas. Durante los 80s esta moda continuó, no solo dentro de la música de baile. Prácticamente todos los singles publicados tenían su versión extendida en formato de 12 pulgadas. Se trataba de versiones de 7 u 8 minutos con intros, puentes y finales instrumentales más largos. En algunos casos se potenciaba el sonido de la batería o se agregaba alguna percusión o coro. No fue hasta finales de los 80s con la llegada del House cuando llegaron las remezclas tal como las conocemos hoy en día (modificando el BPM o directamente la melodía) llegando a crear una nueva canción. In the age of over-information and over-exposure what control do we have over our public persona? It's all about the personality, all about our profile, incessant, endless posts to every medium we can lay our hands on. After 25 years of DJing around the world,  the catchily title |-...-.|  seems like they've had enough of all that and switched to the exact opposite and put together a project with no real name, no real public persona or much else besides. But it's been getting noticed by the right people - Joe Muggs featured them twice in Bandcamp Daily this year, and their latest album "Deliveroo Studio Séances" is the piece that really caught our ear. "This is all about music being judged on its merit rather than ego or identity, transcending the audiences potential preconceptions and focusing on a sonic and visual journey. " The sound pulls from various places - you can hear bits of Aphex Twin, Burial, Daft Punk, and Weatherall in there. It's genre-fluid stuff that doesn't fit neatly into boxes, which is probably why the likes of Trevor Jackson and Prosumer have been supportive. The whole anonymous angle means the music has to speak for itself, which it seems to be doing. So it feels kind of counterintuitive to ask them any questions for this rather tasty mix they've put together of original material, intermingled with other beauties. But we'll do it anyway, hey. Label Head of ANAØH, born in Mexico City and with more than 25 years as a professional DJ and more than 20 as a producer working from the studio. Fixon is one of the most respected, renowned and active American artists abroad. In 2008 he published his first release under the Argentine label Mind Trip, by Juan Pablo Pfirter and since then he has not stopped working on countless releases, regularly presenting his work on labels such as ANAØH, MORD, Soma, Rekids, Nachtstrom Schallplatten , Be As One, Modularz, Suara and more. Fixon continually has presentations throughout Mexico, the United States, South America and Europe. Having presentations in Clubs such as Tresor (Berlin), Fabrik (Madrid), Transformator (Wroclaw), Gare (Porto), Gordo (Valencia), Closer (Milano) Glazart (Paris) Razzmatazz (Barcelona), Specka (Madrid), The Garage (Barcelona), John Doe (Amsterdam), Tunnel (Pereira), Terraza (Medellin), Bifröst (Ruan) to name a few. Since 2016 he has worked on his label ANAØH where he has managed to provide a musical and graphic identity, launching artists from all over the world, giving a transcendent presence to the project, which has more than 130 releases in Vinyl, Cassette and Digital formats.     I have said many times that I love hosting guest mixes. Whether it's from regular contributors Paul & Erwin or from artists in the ambient space, the mixes expose to new music and artists, and I delight in hearing how someone else approaches the creation of a coherent mix. This new guest mix comes from an ambient artist that I have admired for years - Benoît Pioulard(Tom Meluch). I love his brand of hazy, dreamy ambient music. The title of this mix is Pluvial Scansion, about which Tom says - "It's been a rainy spring and summer here, so I think that's affected some of the overall mood." Here's what he has to say about putting together this mix: "For this mix, I wanted to highlight the work of some very talented friends, and some mellower releases from the past year or so that I've enjoyed during various moments of transit or deep focus.  Every track has some form of ambient washiness, and I tried to cover as much of a sonic range as possible within that framework.  My latest release is Stanza IV, a limited LP complemented by a collection of reworks by Markus Guentner, James Devane, MJ Guider, arovane, Clarice Jensen, and Viul.  Here, I've included an abridged version of one of the album tracks, along with the arovane piece, but you can hear the whole thing at pioulard.bandcamp.com, and subscribe for a ton of exclusive work plus new stuff every month, at pioulard.bandcamp.com/subscribe .. and, if you're in Tokyo on August 18th, come see me perform with Satomimagae!  Hope you'll enjoy the playlist
