POPULARITY
I've always had a love and passion for deep, dark, hypnotic music since the early days of my career. There's also been a misconception that this sound is slow and plodding… not when I'm around! While sorting through playing lists for upcoming gigs, I ended up putting together a mix of this style while it was fresh in my head and playlists. One of the rising new stars of the Progressive House scene, Maze 28, has created an awesome guest mix, making the perfect after-party. On today's Destination Special, we're taking you somewhere that, for so many travellers, represents the ultimate holiday feeling: Queensland, Australia. This is a state seven times the size of Britain! A place where one trip can take you from the cultural heartbeat and riverside energy of Brisbane, to the al fresco beach lifestyle of the Gold Coast, to ancient rainforest, island life, wildlife encounters, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultures, First Nations storytelling, and one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef.Known as Australia's Sunshine State, Queensland is, of course, famous for its blue skies, golden beaches and that blissful sense of switching off the moment you arrive. But as I discovered through making this episode, it is so much more than that. And that, really, is what makes Queensland so compelling - it's not just one kind of holiday. It's a whole collection of holidays in one place. You can wake up in Brisbane, wandering along the river as the city comes to life, stop for brilliant coffee and world-class food, then be out in nature within minutes, perhaps heading to nearby Minjerribah, also known as North Stradbroke Island, for First Nations culture and extraordinary natural landscapes. You can head south towards the Gold Coast for beach walks, coastal drives, wineries, rainforest and incredible produce. Or you can travel north to the Whitsundays, where Hamilton Island, Whitehaven Beach and the Great Barrier Reef deliver that almost dreamlike version of Australia with its turquoise water, white sand, sailing, seafood, and warm tropical air.Today's guest is someone who experienced Queensland through one of its great strengths: food. Matt Tebbutt, chef, broadcaster and host of Saturday Kitchen, recently travelled there, eating his way through the state, from riverside restaurants and beachside lunches to extraordinary seafood and island dining. What struck me most in speaking to Matt was that the food became a way into everything else: the landscape, the wildlife, the culture, the openness, the warmth, and that easy-going Aussie outdoor lifestyle. This episode is wanderlust, guaranteed. Max Vereshaka is one of Australia's most accomplished competition fly fishers, but this conversation goes well beyond medals, teams and tournament results.Max has now stepped into a new chapter: travelling, fishing full-time, filming his adventures, and chasing everything from Tasmanian trophy trout to permit and barra across northern Australia. In this episode, Max talks through his early days learning to fly fish on Lake Eucumbene, the lessons competition fishing drilled into him, the rise of Euro nymphing, and how trout tactics have shaped the way he approaches saltwater fly fishing. We also get into Tasmania's backcountry lakes, the Whitsundays, Cape York, Western Australia, moon phases, tides, flats fishing, the Inshore Flats Project, and why Max believes Australia might have the best fly fishing in the world.Raw, funny, technical and full of hard-earned perspective, this is a conversation with someone who has built his life around fly fishing and has no plans of slowing down.As Max puts it: fish till I die.

Send us a textIn this episode of the Travel Australia Podcast, we share an honest update on the current Zone RV situation — where things are at right now, what we know, what we don't, and what it could mean for us personally after years on the road. It's not speculation or commentary, just a grounded conversation about change, uncertainty, and navigating a moment that many in the caravan industry are watching closely. From there, we shift gears and continue our journey north to Airlie Beach, Queensland — the gateway to the Whitsundays — chatting about why it remains such a popular travel base and why getting back on the road, exploring great destinations and focusing on what's ahead still matters. If you're planning a Whitsundays trip — or wondering whether Airlie Beach lives up to the hype — this episode is for you.

Keeper Of The Greens segment of The Golfing Greenkeeper Podcast is brought to you by John Deere Golf. When you work where others play, you need a partner you can trust to keep your course in perfect condition. Find your nearest John Deere dealer at deere.com.auScott Armstrong has been around a long time as you'll soon hear. Scott began his greenkeeping career not long out of year 10 at school on Sydney's Northern Beaches in an era when it wasn't unrealistic to wear thongs and no shirt working in the hot summer sun out on course. Yes, this is Australia! Scott had the privilege of learning and working under some of, not only Sydney's, but Australia's leading greenkeeping professionals. After a long start to his career at Manly Golf Club under people such as John Odell, it was soon time to take the reigns for himself and he landed the superintendent's role at Mona Vale Golf Club, still on the Northern Beaches.Scott spent a number of years working on course before things would take a turn through some challenging times with committee members and he decided it was time to move away from Mona Vale and working directly with turf. Scott took on a role as a sales rep for an industry company which he would continue for many years learning lots of different things from "the other side". Eventually falling out of favour with the sales side of the industry Scott gravitated back to working hands on with turf but it was a bumpy ride before an opportunity presented itself to be a greenkeeper at Hamilton Island Golf Club in the Whitsundays of North Queensland. This chat has everything and them some in it. I went to Hamilton Island to sit down with Scott for this chat and he doesn't disappoint. We talk about everything from long lost types of machinery, reminisce about old colleagues and peers, discuss what it means to be a team on course, and then there's the travelling around the world for golf, a brush with Clint Eastwood working at Congressional for the US Open, and of course an insight into Hamilton Island Golf Club and the challenges of the current weather conditions. This is a wild and fun ride so get your six point racing harness on and strap in!You hit 'em clean and we'll keep 'em green! The Golfing Greenkeeper - InstagramThe Golfing Greenkeeper - FacebookThe Golfing Greenkeeper TV - YouTubeSend me an email to - thegolfinggreenkeeper@gmail.comPeople and places mentioned in this podcast:Hamilton Island Golf ClubManly Golf ClubMona Vale Golf ClubTerrey Hills Golf and Country ClubSussex Inlet Golf ClubMollymook Golf ClubCongressional Country ClubCypress Point Club - Monterey Peninsula GolfPebble Beach Golf LinksPasatiempo Golf ClubDr. Alister MacKenzie - The Alister MacKenzie SocietyMarion Hollins - Marion Hollins Memorial ProjectSt Andrews LinksRoyal Troon Golf ClubCarnoustie Golf LinksBarnbougleEP.63 Keeper of the Greens - Brad HoleEP.70 Keeper of the Greens - Pat WilsonEP.127 Keeper of the Greens - Mark SpraggsEP.135 Steve's Random Special Guest - Mike O'Keeffe (Ohio State Program)

"Bobbing about on my bucket list for far too long, I've finally just enjoyed my first foray to heart-stealing Hamilton Island. Glamourous and gorgeous in equal measure this holiday jewel in the Whitsundays archipelago completely smashed my expectations. With an embarrassing surfeit of island vacay options in Queensland, I had assumed Hamilton Island, or Hamo as the locals call it, might just be another pleasant dime-a-dozen speck of palm-fringed sand, edging warm ocean water. "But Hamo is so much more." Read Mike's full article here. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
