And that's exactly what's happened to a number of international students recently who've been detained by ICE. Sudhanshu Kaushik [Sa-dun-shoe Kaw-sh-ick} is Executive Director of the North American Association of Indian Students. He's a student himself and I want to be clear - an American citizen. I asked him with all that's going on right now, do international students want to come to the US right now to study?

De notre correspondante à Mayotte,La rentrée scolaire le 27 janvier était attendue pour savoir si les élèves allaient être de retour en classe. Selon les professeurs, il y a eu quelques absents, mais il est difficile de toujours faire un lien direct avec Chido. Cependant, certains, comme Rayka Madani, ne reviendront malheureusement jamais à l'école.La fillette de 10 ans a perdu la vie le 14 décembre, ensevelie sous la boue. Sa famille habite dans une case en tôle sur les hauteurs de Mamoudzou. Ce jour-là, en danger sous les rafales de vent, les parents ont décidé de partir se réfugier dans une maison en dur, mais sur le chemin, une coulée de boue a recouvert la mère et sa fille. « Je suis restée plus d'une heure dans la boue, raconte sa maman, Kaniza Djamil. J'étais toute seule, je ne pouvais pas l'aider… J'ai essayé, mais je n'ai pas réussi. » La fillette est transférée à l'hôpital et comptabilisée parmi les 40 morts.Comme c'est le cas avec cette petite fille, c'est dans les bidonvilles que la catastrophe a été la plus meurtrière. Faizi Ali, 28 ans, habitait lui dans celui de Kawéni. Quand le vent a commencé à souffler, il est parti mettre à l'abri ses enfants, mais il n'est jamais revenu. « C'est là que le vent a commencé. Il y a la maison qui est tombée sur nous. Il voulait venir nous récupérer et c'est là que l'auto lui a arraché le ventre, se rappelle sa femme de 24 ans, Saidati Mohamed. J'ai vu des gens, ils sont venus nous récupérer, moi et son fils, son fils aîné. Il y a quelqu'un qui est venu me dire d'être forte, mais que mon mari était mort. Lui aussi a été décompté dans le bilan officiel parce qu'il a été transféré à l'hôpital. Mais beaucoup de décès de personnes « sans-papiers » n'ont pas été déclarés, selon de nombreux observateurs. Puisqu'ils sont inconnus des autorités, leurs proches n'ont pas d'intérêt à demander un certificat de décès. Ce paramètre rend un bilan précis impossible.Caroline Fivet est médecin à l'hôpital de Petite-Terre, elle a travaillé le jour de Chido. Le bilan officiel est « ridicule », selon elle. Elle-même a vu des enterrements alors qu'elle rentrait du travail avec ses collègues. « On voyait déjà des gens qui étaient en train d'enterrer leurs familles », témoigne-t-elle.Un de ses collègues, qu'on appellera Martin, confie qu'une quinzaine de familles se sont présentées à l'hôpital de Petite-Terre demandant de venir faire un constat de décès dans leur quartier. Mais les soignants avaient l'obligation de rester sur leur lieu de travail. Marcin Wicha, pisarz, który niedawno odszedł, zauważył kiedyś, że na początku istnienia zegara wystarczała jedna wskazówka, potem zaczęto odczuwać pewną presję i dodano drugą, następnie wręcz konieczne okazało się odliczanie sekund, a teraz – to świat wariował.No i właśniesiedzimy w tym zwariowanym świecie.Zwalniamy tempo, bo patrzymy wstecz, w miejsca, których nie ma, w ludzi, którzy byli. To jest niesamowite, że takie wycieczki często zaczynają się od jakichś absurdalnie dokładnie zapamiętanych szczegółów. Fontanna. No właśnie.Siedzimy sobie z Małgosią Buszko-Briggs pod zegarem, który wybija te dobre, towarzyskie godziny i zawieszamy pamięć na fontannach. Tym jakże malowniczym elemencie hotelu Iwa, perełki okresu PRL-u w Białowieży, istniejącym tylko w naszych wspomnieniach. Mam wrażenie, że wtedy w Polsce takie hotele to były wyjątkowe oazy jakiegoś innego życia. Może trochę bardziej kolorowego. Iwa już nie istnieje, ale to było tak niezwykłe miejsce i tak symptomatyczne, że warto mu się przyjrzeć.Zostańmy więc przy tych fontannach. I skoro wspomnieliśmy sam budynek – proszę sobie teraz wyobrazić, że ten kompleks turystyczny, jak na tamte czasy, prezentował się okazale, a jego wnętrze – zdaniem wielu gości – nie ustępowało standardowi europejskiemu.Ośrodek Turystyczny „Iwa” w Białowieży funkcjonował w latach 1968-1999. Wybudowano go na miejscu rozebranych w 1961 roku ruin dawnego pałacu carskiego. Ośrodek składał się z trzech połączonych ze sobą brył architektonicznych. Jego budowę rozpoczęto w połowie września 1962 roku, a rozpoczął swoją działalność w lipcu 1968 roku, zaś hotel reprezentacyjny oraz restaurację oddano do użytku 12 listopada 1969 roku.Początkowo hotel był prowadzony przez Spółdzielcze Biuro Turystyczne „Turysta” w Warszawie. Później, w 2001 roku, zarządzanie przejęła firma „IWA” – spółka. Tutaj na scenę wchodzi polityka, ale zostańmy przy osobistej historii z tzw. wielką historią w tle.O, to jest moment, w którym pojawi się ktoś, kto pamięta tamten moment historyczny. Przy czym – to nie była i to nie jest nadal jednorodna wieś. Nie można w sumie mówić, że na coś wszyscy reagowali kiedykolwiek podobnie. Co do ekskluzywnego hotelu w czasach PRL-u – sprawa była jednak w miarę prosta. A o to, jak to było, zapytam po prostu moją Mamę.Rozwój agroturystyczny Białowieży to dosłownie ostatnie lata i chociaż zawsze była ważnym punktem na turystycznej mapie Polski – to kiedyś – noclegowo nie można tu było kręcić nosem. Ale wróćmy do świata wspomnień Małgosi, no i moich, bo Iwa to w końcu kawałek mojego zawodowego życiorysu.Takie obiadki w czasach PRL-u- to też tematy zainteresowania badaczy. Przy okazji można sięgnąć po książkę Błażeja Brzostka „PRL na widelcu”. Grzegorz Piotrowski w książce „Kuchnia (w) PRL” gdzie pisze, że „władza ingerowała w codzienne praktyki ludności, w tym i nawyki żywieniowe”. A co do nawyków – to aktualnie uprawiamy kult chipsów i takich tam…. Wiadomo :)Najbardziej popularne dania w PRL-u nie odbiegają znacznie od tych, które dziś możemy zamówić w większości restauracji. Do lamusa przeszło jednak kilka "sztandarowych" pozycji: coraz trudniej jest zamówić dziś, chociażby nerki w śmietanie, cynaderki, ozorek, forszmak, czy też płucka w różnej postaci. W ‘Iwie' oczywiście, w wersji luksusowej, jadało się dziczyznę. Rozmaitą. No i desery.Przez wiele lat – jako deser – bardzo popularny był krem sułtański, jeden z najbardziej popularnych deserów PRL-u. Podawany w szklanych pucharkach, był bardzo słodki. Kawę podawano najczęściej parzoną po turecku – w szklance podawanej na spodku. Żeby się nie sparzyć, czasami szklanka miała metalowy uchwyt do trzymania.No to tyle nostalgii kulinarnej.

To nie miał i nie mógł być odcinek bez kontrowersji. Nawet tytuł nam się udało zaczepny załatwić wyciągając słowa z kontekstu. Tak to podobno robią najwięksi prowokatorzy a my prowokujemy dla KASY i KAW !!! :D:D Tak naprawdę to zapraszamy Was gorąco do noworocznego odcinka nagranego w siedzibie Loftodance by Łukasz Raś, przeprowadzonego właśnie z Łukaszem Rasiem zwanym w prasie - Rysiem.Wątków było tyle, że postanowiłyśmy zrobić 2 odcinki. A że drugi jest z jeszcze większymi smaczkami - to będzie drogo. Zresztą Łukasz nam pomógł kilkukrotnie powtarzając jak ważne jest wspieranie inicjatyw, ktore nam się podobają. A o czym jeszcze było poza "nielubieniem" środowiska tanecznego?o formie jaką przybrał taniec socialowy o tym że bachata jest salsąo zmianach pokoleniowych o tworzeniu swojego stylu o byciu artystą o historii bachaty (ktora jest salsą ;) w Polsceo tym jak zmienia się taneczny rynek To jest vol.1... w części 2 będzie o kontrowersji i tajemniczych planach. Au beau milieu des marais de Kaw en Guyane vit une espèce de chauve-souris pêcheuse : Noctilio leporinus. En anglais on l'appelle la "grande chauve-souris bouledogue" (greater bulldog bat) en raison de son menton proéminent. Elle vole au ras de l'eau et chope les poissons juste sous la surface. Elle peut aussi manger des insectes. Le Noctilio est une grande chauve-souris de 80 cm d'envergure qui vit en Amérique latine.L'aire de répartition de la grande chauve-souris bouledogue s'étend du Mexique au nord de l'Argentine et comprend également la plupart des îles des Caraïbes. Les Noctilio vivent à proximité de l'eau dans des colonies de centaines d'individus.La grande chauve-souris bouledogue est l'une des rares espèces de chauves-souris à consommer du poisson. Elle mange aussi des insectes, surtout pendant la saison des pluies. Pendant la saison sèche où les insectes sont plus rares, les chauves-souris bouledogues se nourrissent de poissons et aussi, dans une moindre mesure, de crabes, de scorpions et de crevettes. Elle utilise deux techniques. Soit elle utilise son sonar pour repérer tout mouvement, soit elle "chalute",  elle ratisse la surface de l'eau en laissant traîner ses pattes à la surface de l'eau._____On aime ce qui nous a émerveillé … et on protège ce qu'on aime. Ce constat simple est à la base de notre de travail de tous les (ra)conteurs du Vivant. Mais que serait ce travail sans les images des photographes animaliers… qui se retrouvent chaque année au Festival de photo animalière de Photo de Montier.Fin novembre 2023, je me suis à nouveau rendu dans ce temple du Vivant pour y retrouver les amis, les invités et le public. Bo uważam, że archetyp ten nie jest wykopaliskowy, wciąż , pod różnymi przebraniami, zdarza się dziewczętom spotykać Sinobrodych. Ale że słuchali mnie też sympatyczni chłopcy, to wersja została poszerzona o pozapłciową uniwersalność tej legendy o żądzach, o obietnicach, o nie słuchaniu intuicji i innych całkiem ciekawych wątkach. Jednak najpierw był wstęp, bo na samym początku to była walka o uwagę, wiadomo. Jak to wżyciu. XXX Bajki tutaj nie będzie, bo każda opowieść funkcjonuje w określonych warunkach, dla określonych ludzi tą chwilą. Bajka nigdy nie jest taka sama.
