Karyn Calabrese declares “she is not special”. Yet it is undeniable, she has a special gift. She has learned to listen to the knowledge innate within herself and become a leading holistic healer and teacher. Many people look at Karyn at age 73 and assume she inherited a strong matriarchy. The facts are, however, that both her mother and grandmother died at ages younger than Karyn is now. With this seeming fate at hand, she sets out to prove her genetic heredity wrong. This is where her story begins. Alone with two children to raise, she bought her first wheatgrass juicer and opened a new life of growth and prosperity with her first business, growing and distributing wheatgrass. More importantly, this began her life-long exploration into the interconnectedness between food and body and the ultimate attainment of self-insurance and inner peace. She believes it is not enough to simply eat live foods but to cleanse the body of the strong, negative, anti-life foods still in the body. Today, Karyn teaches detoxification classes throughout the year to give these lessons to others. To facilitate this process of cleansing, she opened a holistic therapy center, Karyn’s Inner Beauty Center. This is where we find Karyn today. A 73-year-old woman, who lives the full, lively life she envisioned giving herself. For as Karyn herself questions at the end of every day: “If you don’t take care of this, the most magnificent machine you’ll ever be given, where are you going to live?” Find Karyn on her IG:  https://www.instagram.com/karyncalabrese/ Her site: https://www.shopkaryns.com/link-page This episode is sponsored by Harper Coats - the perfect winter puffer! The rich, expansive palate of nature, Taoism, and Traditional Chinese Medicine provide a path that engenders a true state of bodily autonomy, reacquainting us with the rhythms and cycles of our bodies and liberating us from a dependence on healthcare practices that undermine its intelligence and flow.  Botanarchy as a concept hearkens to the idea that medicine can be both a form of resistance and a reclamation of original, authentic nature. Botanarchy offers a vision of radical feminist healthcare that is built on humanism, integrity, and respect for the flow of the natural world. Botanarchists are committed to ending the corporate co-option of the body, supporting the democratization of medicine, and empowering others to think and feel for themselves. Every gender expression benefits from radical feminist health care. We are all suffering from being underserved in a for-profit, disease-driven model that has taken power and autonomy out of the hands of the people and put it into the hands of corporations and politicians. As shepherds of this radical feminist healthcare, we aim to rescue medicine from the patriarchy by means of the following core principles: *Radical feminist healthcare is rooted in natural models that do not suppress the true nature of the body, enhancing connection to both the microcosm of the body and the macrocosm of the earth. *Radical feminist healthcare is based on thousands of years of observing and revering nature, not heterosexual cis white male bodies. *Radical feminist healthcare is tethered to natural rhythms and embraces the cycles of change.  *Radical feminist healthcare honors both light and shadow, recognizing each phase of the creative cycle as medicine — birth, growth, harvest, death, and renewal.  *Radical feminist healthcare is not based on an unattainable goal of ‘healing’, valuing the full spectrum of human experience instead. *Radical feminist healthcare is age-positive, committed to providing compassionate healthcare for all stages of personhood, exulting the menstrual cycle and menopause equally as sacred passages.  *Radical feminist healthcare refuses to industrialize the rhythms and cycles of the body. *Radical feminist healthcare will never measure health by our ability to work harder, work longer, make more money, increase our sexual potency, feel better with less sleep, compete with each other, push beyond our means and capacity.  *Radical feminist healthcare is against positing ‘wellness’ as maximizing our output in a capitalist labor market by increasing motivation and productivity. *Radical feminist healthcare allows every body to define ‘wellness’ on their own terms. *Radical feminist healthcare supports people in finding their own Tao, recovering the self not corrupted by culture.  *Radical feminist healthcare individualizes treatment for every body as a unique emanation of the Tao, recognizing that our Tao can be thwarted by multiple forms of systemic discrimination that may block us from thriving in our personhood. *Radical feminist healthcare is pro-autonomy, helping us recover the capacity to taste and feel and sense for ourselves.  *Radical feminist healthcare is insistent on inner authority, and never shaming of choice. *Radical feminist healthcare recognizes a non-binary gender spectrum beyond male and female, and is focused on balancing the masculine + feminine polarity inside all of us regardless of biological sex or gender. *Radical feminist healthcare sees masculine + feminine as principles existing in a relationship, interdependent, working together, flowing back and forth into each other. *Radical feminist healthcare acknowledges the emotions as aspects of disease, and is non-shaming of emotional states. *Radical feminist healthcare is against the immediate medicating of emotions that don’t fit the dominant narratives of ‘health’ and ‘wellness’. *Radical feminist healthcare is not fear-based and disease-driven. *Radical feminist healthcare cultivates and value receptivity, gentleness, and subtlety.  *Radical feminist healthcare empowers mothers and working families with the tools to take care of ourselves and our communities where the system has failed to protect and sustain us. *Radical feminist healthcare is oriented towards freeing us from a reliance upon privatized healthcare and allopathic methods that often harm the body and undermine its innate, elegant intelligence. *Radical feminist healthcare transmutes the darkness and discomfort of our bodies and society en masse into something new, in the alchemy of turning lead into gold.   If this manifesta speaks to you, I urge you to share it freely and wantonly! Distribute it in your communities. Demand your doctors treat you in accordance with its precepts. Love your body through the medicine of its message! In health and solidarity,  Carolyn

And after that, Crippen, a stunning collection of classic pieces that look and feel like you’ve had them forever. Susie’s approach to creating successful companies, a stunning home in Ojai, a soon to be new life in Africa, 4; a new line of dresses, 4 being the women’s collective in Uganda that is sewing them - Ride 4 A Woman...all seem to be guided by a single thing - deep intuition, energetic alignment and a profound trust in both.   This is our entry point to todays chat .My big take-away….while we may not always have the things we think we need to start a successful biz, we all have the one thing that may actually be most necessary when launching - our ability to tune inward and listen.    I was poking around the interwebs about stuff for my little blurb here and I found this in the LA Times and just love it. It says everything about Susie and her commitment to growth, expansion, listening in and following that voice within that truly knows all:      LA Times: If you love it so much here, why are you moving to Africa?   Susie: I’m leaving for the exact same reason I came here. I went to a place I had never been before, and I was moved so deeply by it that I have to go back. The ultimate expression of wabi-sabi is to live a life true to you. As beautiful and wonderful as Ojai is, continually exploring who I am in this world is an intricate part of my experience. Eriq La Salle

Eriq La Salle is a dear friend from back in the ER days when he played Dr. Peter Benton (and earned him three NAACP Image Awards and nominations for a Golden Globe Award and three Primetime Emmy Awards). What excited me about hosting him on the podcast was exploring the ways artists must proactively co-create their career longevity.    To sustain a career that spans an entire adulthood requires deeply honed skills and next-level talent, not to mention a good amount of right time-right place luck. So much of winning in the arts is totally out of our control. However, what is in our control is the mental tenacity necessary to withstand challenging times which every artist will inevitably face. It’s exactly this angle I wanted to explore with Eriq because he is an MVP of his own, very successful, career destiny. He has not missed a beat in creating a deeply rewarding expansive creative career. While he was winning as an actor, he was already creating his path as a writer and while he was pumping out novels, he was masterminding a deeply rich new chapter as a director and producer. This fascinated me because so many artists, especially actors, can be myopic about their gifts. As artists, we need to cultivate an expansive vision about our talents and see one road as an opening for several potential paths. We get into what a flexible, non-fixed mindset is as an artist and how to navigate your B and C plans while slaying your A plan. If you are in the arts, or a self-made creator of any kind, I think you’ll find this exciting and informative. Also, if you’re an actor, Eriq gives some not-to-be-missed insider tips about the long game.    Eriq is currently the executive producer (and sometimes director) of NBC’s Chicago PD.     More about Eriq:    is an American actor, director, writer and producer known for his performances in the films Coming to America (1988) and especially as He attended the Juilliard School's Drama Division for two years as a member of Group 13 (1980–84),[2] then attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Graduate Acting Program[3   In 1988, La Salle starred alongside Eddie Murphy in the movie Coming to America as Darryl Jenks. In 1994 the medical drama ER premiered on NBC with La Salle starring as Dr. Peter Benton. He held the role until leaving during the eighth season. He returned to ER for three episodes during its 15th and final season, including his uncredited appearance as himself in the opening of "Heal Thyself" to tell the audience of the death of the show's creator Michael Crichton. Also during season 15, he returned to direct an episode.[6]

Ever since stumbling upon Kate Northrup’s 10 day Money Love Challenge years ago - that created a massive $$$ shift for me, I have been a total Kate fan girl. Imagine my DELIGHT (!!!) when we podcasted - I mean WHOA! Some peeps go go-go over entertainment celebs - me? A bad-ass female entrepreneurs who focuses on helping women understand everything there is to know about money - from the spiritual, emotional to the cold hard material facts about how to DEAL WITH IT. Truly incredible work and what a revelation to get into how cleaning up the mess around finances (what I call Financial Feng Shui!) is an act of self-love. Yes, self-love. Add financial health to the list of manicures, hot yoga, and getting your roots done. It’s a true act of self-care to know, with unequivocal awareness, the state of our financial health. I had totally buried so much of this into the recesses of my mind - but over the past few years have awakened to the power of how important it is to be brutally honest with our financials.  Of course Kate’s book Money, A Love Story - is a tome to this that every woman MUST READ! And now she has a new book!  Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Busy Moms Do I need to say more? Kate has a revolutionary approach to time management that every mom needs to read (ok, dads too not to mention NON PARENTS!) I can’t wait for you to listen. And for those of you who wonder about this stuff - yes, she is even yummier, more delightful, authentic, warm, lovely and BFF vibes IN REAL LIFE! More about Kate!  Northrup is a fierce advocate for revolutionizing the way we work, seeing and that women and working mothers are often under immense pressure to “just get it all done” at the end of the day without complaint.   Northrup’s book is a practical guide for mothers and working women to learn how to do less, but to still remain productive, ambitious and overall, to not feel guilty about taking a moment to reprioritize and get focused. Northrup experienced a burn-out herself during her pregnancy, when she experienced extreme fatigue and wasn’t able to maintain longer working hours. Fearful that making this shift would affect her business, Northrup was shocked when her company earned just as much as when she was overworking herself to the point of exhaustion.    In this interview we discuss:   • What is the do less method, and how to step away from the concept that doing more is the only way to be productive and successful. • How to practice body first, business second and why taking care of your body first (rest, water, a snack) will increase your productivity. • The best way to streamline your to-do-list in order to do less and still reach peak efficiency • The importance of tracking your menstrual cycle in relation to your work, which will give you a better idea of what you should be prioritizing each week. For example, during your menstrual cycle is the best time for rest and reflection. While your physical energy might not be at it’s highest, your brain is most wired for connectivity and brainstorming. • Managing your energy and your emotions at the office. • Empowering yourself to be in a position to ask for help (Hint: it’s easier than it looks!)   To hope on the fasting mimicking diet train with me - Our next PROLON group fast starts May 13th. Click here for my link where you can get 10% off (that’s $25 a box plus free shipping) - use GROOMEDLA or GROOMEDLASUB (for a subscription).

Alexandra Roxo (real name! is a transformational mentor, healer, writer, and artist who is extremely passionate about empowering women. Her writing on personal growth and female empowerment, the divine feminine resurgence, moon ritual, and modern spirituality can be read on Girl Boss.com. Teen Vogue, Mind Body Green, and more. She has been featured in many publications for her deep, sensual, and raw approach to healing and transformation, and has also been named a "modern spiritual leader" by Well + Good.  Ok, that’s the riff from her about page. She’s simply a bad ass. Alexandra is on a mission to make women feel good, as they are. Period. She is about embracing and celebrating self and if you don’t know it (said self!) her work will help you find her (you). I simply ADORE her and we really just scratched the surface of her work (think snakes, rope work with Shibari, plant medicine, circling and way way more), in this episode. We for sure will do another. For now, enjoy a bit more about Alexandra (from her website) below and just PRESS PLAY! She was called to find a way to share her spiritual work with women in places in the world where there is less access to workshops and classes and retreats so together with Ruby Warrington she created the online community Moon Club, which consists of hundreds of women worldwide who attend monthly online rituals, empowerment talks, and are guided by in journey and breathwork practices. Alexandra has been called to help women find their voices, release limiting beliefs imposed by society, and come home to their true nature for as long as she can remember. She currently works with clients one on one and in groups, empowering and guiding them on their spiritual paths, leading events and retreats across the world, and writing daily empowering messages online. She has helped and inspired thousands of women to radically claim themselves and lead more passionate and conscious lives and it brings her great joy! Prior to that she directed documentaries, a web show, and a feature film, wrote plays and created art along the same topics of what it means to be modern woman and what spiritual awakening feels like, which have been viewed by millions of people and featured in international press. Her first spiritual mentorship began when she met her first teacher at age 12 whom she studied with annually until his passing in 2015. She began studying yoga and meditation at age 19 when she lived and studied with monastics abroad. Through her studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she earned a BFA she learned how to use theatre, embodiment work, breath work, movement, and storytelling for healing and personal transformation. She went on to study shamanic journey practice, sacred intimacy work, Earth based spiritual practice, Reiki, and plant medicine ceremonial traditions with many teachers around the world. Her 15 years of meditation practice and moon ritual is what inspired her to create Moon Club as a place to gather for deep sharing and deep practice relating to the internal spiritual journey. Her current studies include Vajrayana Tantric Buddhist practices with the renowned teacher and author, Lama Tsultrim Allione, and Kashmiri Shaivist Tantra practice with author and teacher, Sally Kempton, and alternative mental healthcare training. She is working on her first book with the publisher Sounds True, out in early 2020 and will be leading retreats in 2019 at 1440 Multiversity, Kripalu Center, and Maha Rose Mexico and enjoying life between NYC and LA! Stay tuned because this is incredibly cool.  More About Ashley:  GEMINI SUN | AQUARIUS MOON | LEO RISING | GENERATOR For as long as I can remember, I have had a deep connection to Divine Spirit. Growing up with my Grandmother as my first spiritual guide, she taught me about tarot, reading tea leaves, palms and communicating with spirits.  When I got pregnant in 2015, I opened up a type of connection to the spirit world that I had never experienced before. I communicated with my daughter’s soul during pregnancy, I learned about her past-life experience, I communicated with spirit guides, and my intuitive abilities became stronger. After Ivy was born, my abilities continued to strengthen. I experienced communicative and astral projection dreams, received messages from my husband’s late grandmother, officially met my spirit guides and began utilizing the Law of Attraction to manifest the kind of life I want to live. Divinely guided, I launched my podcast Manifest This! in early 2018 and from that, connected with a woman who introduced me to the Akashic Records. I always knew I was designed to help others and reading the Records is how. Through reading my own Records, I learned that I have been working with the Akashic Records for years in past lives and that sharing the information they provide with others is part of my Divine soul journey. Kaplan had spent time abroad in high school at a film production program at Oxford University in England, UK. Kaplan relocated to Los Angeles and was working behind the scenes in the movie business. When Elfont headed to California after college, they joined forces and crafted "The Family Way", a romantic comedy that was purchased by Can't Hardly Wait (1998) producer Jenno Topping, during her stint at The Ladd Company. The writing duo continued working with Topping, writing A Very Brady Sequel(1996). Kaplan and Elfont also lent their talents as contributing writers to Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco (1996) and Jingle All the Way (1996). In her spare time, Kaplan enjoys kick-boxing, photography, and hiking with her Mongolian Ferret Hound. Can't Hardly Wait (1998) was both Kaplan and Elfont's directorial debut. We cover everything from making it (big time) as a woman in the thick of the Hollywood male-gate-keeper matrix (Jessica wrote and directed the blockbuster "Bring It On" and "Stick It”) to neuro-plasticity (did I spell that right?) of the brain and then we do a full spiritual deep dive and swoop into how to properly break up with an oracle. Yah, you heard me. Groomed LA is over the moon (no pun) to welcome local psychological astrological, Danielle Beinstein. Dani’s work is centered around “helping my clients navigate the human experience using a mix of spiritual psychology, astrology, inner child healing and mindfulness”. This is for sure one of the smartest women I have ever met and most fun convos, especially as it involved lots of Jewish geography and learning we went to the same school, albeit in different centuries. Dani’s background in Spiritual Psychology aligns perfectly with her astrological work – seeking archetypes and ways of being, unifying human nature through patterns and healing through deep dive self discovery.   @danibeinstein  http://www.daniellebeinstein.com/ Episode brought to you by :   Sun Potion – My obsessive crush https://bit.ly/2LbS4Zd   Wellness Simplified: https://wellness-simplified.net/ GROOMEDLA for 10% off delish Eat Nutrient Rich packets of goodness sprinkles to add adaptogen goodness to your drinks on the go. The zeitgeist has simmered down. The loud roar is now a quieter rumble. But it’s not over. It’s only just beginning. And there are so many voices to be reckoned with. ME TOO. A movement that is forever changing the alchemy of gender politics in this country. At the heart of it is Katherine Kendall. Kat is among the first wave of women to come forward about Harvey Weinstein. We sit down for a revealing never before heard chat about the scandal that rocked a biz, a town and now...a nation. You’ll hear a first hand account of Kat’s story and how all it takes is one encounter to disrupt the trajectory of your internal system. And also, how she reclaimed it, through the #metoo movement, and has opened to a sense of self that’s greater and more profound than she could have ever imagined. @kkbutter Episode brought to you by : Sun Potion – My obsessive crush https://bit.ly/2LbS4Zd Paleta: Delicious farm to table and the new Keto home delivery meals and cleanse http://paleta.com/  CODE : GROOMEDLA20 Bedjet: https://bit.ly/2IsoRYj My secret sleep hack weapon! Welcome to the Groomed LA Podcast! Brought to you by Emily Wagner, Editor In Chief on the popular wellness and lifestyle blog Groomed LA. Emily is a classic connector, communicator and obsessive info junkie. Here with her impressive guests culled from years in LA, both in the entertainment and wellness worlds, you’ll get real talk on all things (air quotes) “LA” and so much more. This means everything from insider Hollywood talk to wellness, trends/trend-busting, healing arts, bullshit calling out, bio-hacking/health hacks, anti-aging insanity, fitness fanaticism, conscious-living, career (burn out, failures, success), food-supplement-nutrition fads, restrictions/obsessions, plastic surgery, woo-woo shit, parenthood, divorce, sex, intimacy, online dating, ghosting, social media, pop culture, all things vagina and whatever else Emily loses sleep over. A born and bred New Yorker, Emily migrated to Hollywood after receiving a Fine Art degree at Vassar. Emily has sustained a long career as a multi-hyphenate creative ever since. Like all good Upper West Side Jewish girls, she's been an actress, writer, filmmaker, director, artist, creative director, designer, yogi, fitness and arts teacher. Her most notable accomplishment is not getting fired for 15 years from the long-running NBC blockbuster ER where she played Doris Pickman, the snarky paramedic. She also did a few more cool things that look good on paper but you can just Google it. That would have been a great name for this podcast. Looks Good On Paper. She'll loop about that for a solid 72 hours and bug everyone she knows if she should change the name. That's Emily’s brain in a nutshell. Welcome! Emily most recently launched a Conscious Connecting Collective. Here she develops, cultivates and activates brands, artists and individuals. She connects influencers and fosters relationships between them all to grow their business, consciously. She offers one on one coaching and online classes on conscious creative growth and manifestation. In this intro mini-episode, Emily dishes on what the Groomed LA podcast will be dishing about. She recorded it ten times, still didn't get it right, regrets most of the things she said and thinks she sounds bourgeois talking “nanny’s”. She doesn’t even have one or know exactly where that apostrophe goes (nanny’/nannys). But the heck with it, it's 2018 and anti-perfectionism is on trend. Alas, we bring you Groomed LA! Groomed LA is the podcast based on the popular wellness and lifestyle blog Groomed LA, hosted by Editor In Chief, Emily Wagner. While some might find Emily's infectious energy to veer toward  manic, she prefers the term effervescent or ebullient. A born and bred New Yorker she migrated to Hollywood after college. Emily has sustained a long career as a multi-hyphenate creative with only a few pockets of devastating poverty that had her parents questioning if going bankrupt to fund her Vassar education was really worth it. Like all good Upper West Side Jewish seven-sister educated grads, she's been an actress, writer, filmmaker, director, artist, designer, yogi and teacher. Oh well. She'll loop about that for a solid 72 hours and bug everyone she knows via text, if she should change the name. That's Emily in a nutshell. Welcome.  Most of all, besides looping and OCD spirals, Emily is a connector (knows and needs to be liked by everyone) and communicator (never shuts up) and Groomed LA promises down and dirty no-bullshit scoop on all things LA. That means everything from insider Hollywood talk (after all she's a Z list celeb in certain circles, or the incarcerated inmates who still send her fan mail, to be exact) to wellness, trends and trend-busting, healing arts, health hacks, anti-aging insanity, fitness fanaticism, conscious-living, career (burn out, failures, success), personal growth, food fad and obsessions, woo-woo shit, parenthood, divorce, sex, intimacy, online dating, ghosting, social media, all things vagina and whatever else she decides to spiral about. Get ready for raw talks with our lovable info-junkie of a host and the unsuspecting guests she's able to lure with the promise of bottomless Sun Potion adaptogen tonics. That shit is expensive.
