If you don't heal yourself you will continue to repeat negative patterns out in the world Why if you find yourself fighting for something or someone, that is a trauma response that you're playing out What coregulation in friendships and romantic relationships looks like The misconception that friendships don't require the same amount of work as romantic relationships The three steps you can take to make conscious friends as an adult Why you can't expect people to be your everything. For instance, if you're having a traumatic experience you need to seek out a trauma informed professional How to maintain intentional friendships when you have a full life. Hint: boundaries! Prioritizing yourself so that you aren't giving from an empty cup It's really not about the quantity but rather the quality and depth of your relationships Why the big life moments give you clarity on who your true inner circle is – weddings, successes, failures, break ups, death Connect with Millana: Follow HERE Web HERE Connect with Olivia: Follow HERE Shop herbal formulas HERE

Black History Month is almost upon us. It's a time meant to celebrate Black culture, but as we've seen year after year, it's also a time for racist trolls, tone-deaf brand campaigns, and corporate platitudes that amount to little change if any at all. It's a lot to deal with, so I wanted to explore how Black creators are handling it all. Hear how Tyra Blizzard (@tblizzy), Garrison Hayes (@garrisonhayes), and Millana Snow (@millanasnow) are navigating February this year.

This is such a special episode with the one and only Millana Snow: energy healer, founder of Wellness Official, breathwork facilitator, winner of Project Runway back in the day (!!), and all-around goddess. Millana reveals how she first expressed her spiritual gifts with her grandmother, at the tender age of four, through astro-travel and meditation. As she moved from state to state throughout her childhood, she would explore different spiritual modalities along the way. However, it would be in New York where everything came to fruition. There, she began collaborating with Source to manifest winning Project Runway, becoming the host of her award-winning travel show, The Vagabond Project, and starting her own wellness brand! Finding community and spiritual expanders helped her gain the confidence to come out of the spiritual closet and step into her purpose as a healer. The rest, as they say, is history! Millana's unique blend of innate gifts has helped thousands on their personal soul-searching journey. She helps people become their own healers, and the results literally show up on their faces as they shed shadow shame and connect with their own inner light (hello, shapeshifting)! This episode lifts the veil on all things woo-woo that you've been dying – or even feared – to ask, and shows that everyone has gifts that deserve to be cultivated and expressed through self-care, discovery, and belief in your beauty and power. Energy healer, entrepreneur – and Krista's wedding officiant, Millana Snow, shares space and profound wisdom with a conversation centered on her journey to becoming a healer, self-empowerment, and spiritual growth. It's a beautiful closing of a circle from her last episode back in 2017, as she has made monumental strides in just about every aspect of her life since her previous pod chat with K + L. Millana unpacks her initial resistance to publically “coming out” as a healer. Since doing so, she has seriously up-leveled into the upper echelons of the wellness world (yay, abundance!), evolving her spiritual practice by teaching herself and her clients to jump into the unknown and release attachments to narratives that no longer serve them. This truly enriching conversation will inspire you to believe manifesting your dream life is 100% possible, and you don't have to look outside yourself to do so. We also talk about: Friendship origins Stepping into being a healer Belief mindset and leaning into healing Analyzing attachment to old narratives and constructs Work, money, time, and sense of worth Cutting cords and setting boundaries Deep learnings and manifesting partnership Millana's offerings and online courses! Episode Highlights The Catalyst That Brought Millana Where She Is Today When Millana was growing up, she had to move almost every year of her life until she was 14. She wasn't able to keep in touch with a lot of her friends. Because of that, she formed a deep relationship with her inner spiritual connection to God, the universe, and other different spiritual practices. Most of her childhood was spent looking for a connection to something real and wanting to have fun. Spirituality helped Millana survive her youth. Healing her childhood traumas helped Millana realize that other people also enjoy an authentic community to heal. To Those Intimidated by Spiritual Practices and Healing Millana believes that every person is a healer. It's just that we all have different ways of healing. Often, we aren't aware of the gifts inside of us that can heal us. By healing ourselves, we then heal others. If you think you don't have the personality to be a healer, remember that it's not about being like other healers. It's simply about being the healer you came to be. Only you can cultivate, discover, and allow that to be the impact within your own life first, and that then becomes the overflow for other people to benefit from. Millana's Most Important Teacher Growing Up Millana's grandmother taught her how to meditate and astral project at the age of four. These spiritual practices taught Millana to find what was possible outside of her body. In learning to see more than just her body, she explored other realms. Her mom was the breadwinner of the family. From her, Millana got to see what hard work looks like and how it's like to start from absolutely nothing and build a strong career. Experience with Ancestral and Generational Trauma From an earthly perspective, you have two parents who brought you into the physical realm. At the same time, there is parenthood greater than that: Mother Earth and the universal God force. When Millana started getting deeper into her healing path, she had to have a lot of compassion for her family. She had a very mixed family and didn't get to meet her dad until she was 25. If we're open to go beyond the constraints of what culture says parents should be, we can look at them as humans, not parents we have to obey. Cultivating Self-Compassion to Create Change When Millana experienced one of the hardest years of her life, she realized no one ever wants to look inside themselves because it hurts. The first thing we need to do is have the integrity and honesty with ourselves about how we are creating our lives. We're usually in denial about ourselves, and we go easy on ourselves. Instead of blaming others or circumstances, we need to see how our actions and decisions affect our lives. Love can come in once we sit down with ourselves and come face-to-face with our ugly parts. Toxic Positivity Denial is one of the biggest hindrances to our healing. When you allow yourself to see where you are at with yourself, you can unlock the healing potential of the godliness within that. But when we bypass it because we don't want to feel bad, we miss out on all the wisdom found in the pain we try to avoid. If you can get into the depths of what your bad experiences do to you as a human being, you overcome it and start to see it as a gift. However, if we just tell ourselves to get over it, we cannot be transformed. What Millana Is Currently Working On Millana is looking forward to their first in-person healing of 2021. She enjoys seeing the transformation that happens to people after a healing session. Millana believes that we have everything we need within us. She wants the world to know that you heal yourself. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode [6:39] “I truly, truly believe that every single person is a healer. Every single person. And I think the way that we heal is different; it's as unique as we each are individually.” [8:00] “Whatever your gift is, whether you're a singer or you're a writer or you just love to cook, that gift was actually meant for you to enjoy. And then from that overflow, then that's the gift for the world to enjoy and to be healed by.” [15:25] “For the first time, possibly in at least a few thousand years, we have actually had the consciousness and awareness that the way that things have been doesn't mean that they need to continue, that we can change them, that traditions are actually meant to be broken.” [20:38] “We got to really, really have the integrity and the honesty with ourselves about how we are creating our lives and why we have the kind of relationships we have, the jobs we have, the money ,or lack of money, or whatever that is.” [22:47] “Real self-compassion [and] real self-love can only come out of that darker place.” About Millana Practicing and studying all things holistic health and spirituality for over 20 years, Millana Snow has built an energy healing business that serves thousands of clients worldwide. In this week's episode, Alexandra speaks with Millana Snow!Millana Snow is one of the leading voices in global wellness. She is an energy healer, teacher and wellness entrepreneur with a passion for bringing healing to a diverse community of clients, followers, brands, celebrities, and even members of the royal family. Based in Los Angeles, Millana is a former model (YSL, CoverGirl) and woman of color with Afro-Latina/Panamanian, American, and British roots. Speaking to an audience as diverse as her background, her work has appeared in Harper's Bazaar, PopSugar, and Women's Health. Millana is the winner of Project Runway and “Best Travel + Adventure Show” Webby Award. In 2017, Millana created Wellness Official with the vision that everyone deserves wellness and healing. With a mission to democratize wellness, Wellness Official strives to make the space more inclusive and accessible, highlighting diverse practitioners and celebrating the lineages from which our modern-day wellness practices came.In this episode, you'll discover:The similarities of both Millana and Alexandra's experiences of understanding and healing with their father wounds and how that led to understanding what personal shifts needed to happen in order to open and surrender into deep romantic relationship. How integrating the embodiment of being both a strong and powerful human AND being soft and humble was the key to finding a deep relationship and healing and surrendering to love. The difference in a relationship being rooted in fear and codependency vs. securely attached, and how that requires a deepening of trust and a letting go of control, and how we often see representations of codependency in films and tv as love, and rarely see secure-attached relationships as the mainstream example.Ideas on how modern-day capitalism and the concept of a productive society have influenced our spiritual lives to be more compartmentalized and ‘to-do' focused vs. the simplicity and consciousness of aliveness. How turning your consciousness more towards life means turning more towards all of it, including suffering, and not just turning towards joy, ease, and love... and how embracing the embodiment of all is surrendering fully to the experience of life. The courage and vulnerability it takes for a healer, teacher, and/or facilitator to lead and teach as it is a journey deep into your own depths and requires an intense self-reveal.And more!

You know us; we’re all about radical transparency — and this episode is no exception. In fact, this may be one of our most raw, honest, transparent conversations to-date. And, on top of that, one of the most important. Our guest today, Millana Snow, is a woman of color who has built an energy healing business from the ground-up that serves thousands of clients worldwide. Her business, Wellness Official, makes wellness and healing accessible for everyone through their carefully curated workshops, remote sessions, and content with well-respected practitioners around the world. We cannot speak highly enough of Millana and the incredible transparency and openness she shared with us in today’s episode. This is truly a conversation that we can all learn and grow from. Millana really exposes the blind spots that we may not be thinking of on a day-to-day basis regarding racial inequity and highlights the real, important change that we all should be engaging in. This conversation was not only engaging — it was tough and uncomfortable. But these are exactly the sorts of conversations we need to be having that are so vital to this movement. We cannot wait for all you to listen in and share your thoughts. In this Magic In The Mix episode, wellness expert, influencer, and radio host Millana Snow joins Tamara and mutual friend, fashion-executive-turned-chef, Alicia Liu. As a healer trained in a multitude of modalities, Snow is taking her vast network and developing Wellness Official, a website and community with a mission to "democratize wellness", where practitioners and clients can connect to both give and receive services that span the scope of self care and wellness. On this episode, we talk about how, where, and why it's ok for commerce and wellness to coexist: a controversial topic these days. Millana takes us back to her time as a model contestant on Project Runway. We discuss her winding career trajectory, entrepreneurship, who to trust in business, and both her early influences and early start, as a healer.
Welcome to episode two, our first in the practitioner series on How to Be a Sick Kid.Millana Snow is the light you didn't know you needed. A wellness expert, she provides both in-person and long-distance energy services, has spoken at NYU and Syracuse University, works with huge brands like Nike and Covergirl, and was the model winner on Project Runway. Being in the same space as her is kind of like having a massive weight lifted off your shoulders. In this episode, we go deep on how Millana found her spiritual path, listening to your intuition, what energy healing and reiki mean to her, and the importance of clearing mental blocks to help get you to a healthier place. This interview was recorded in late 2018, and Millana’s offerings have grown significantly in less than a year. Her online marketplace for global wellness community practitioners and brands, Wellness Official, is a go, she teaches breathwork meditations, and she hosts This Is Wellness on Dash Radio every Wednesday morning. For more on Millana, visit MillanaSnow.com or Instagram. How to Be a Sick Kid drops new episodes every Tuesday. Don’t forget to review and subscribe to be the first to hear each one! Today we are talking sex and relationships with clinical sexologist Shan Boodram, aka Shan BOODY! Her new book, The Game of Desire, is all about finding your ideal relationship and building confidence in your love life. Shan found her calling by going back to her earliest interest as a child—human connection. After many disappointing relationships, and reading countless (but boring) books on sex, she committed to her purpose of creating fun and accessible information for the every day person. Shan emphasizes the importance of being in the driver's seat of your dating life—taking action and engaging in purposeful conversation. Her website offers quizzes to help you gain clarity on the type of relationship and sex life you are seeking. We discuss the different apology languages, turn on triggers, and strategies for dating, so your search for love is fulfilling and sustainable. Our conversation gets into the structuring of dating apps, exploring sexuality, monogamy, polyamory, and everything in between. Ladies, get ready for some sex talk! Today we are sitting down with author, mother, and one of our favorite humans, Peta Kelly. Let us give you a few reasons why we love this woman so much: 1) Peta holds family as one of her greatest values 2) She is funny as hell 3) She walks the talk 4) She has taught us how to have hard conversations 4) She is constantly evolving without needing anything from anyone. The list continues to grow—especially after today’s interview. Since becoming a mom, she has really focused on the intimacy of motherhood, and shares the outside fears pushed on her during pregnancy, and the trust she maintained within herself. Peta explains what ancestral healing is and the work she does to help heal the painful experiences of her family’s past, like having open conversations with her husband. While in her twenties, Peta focused on soul growth, while working hard as an entrepreneur to set herself up financially before moving into motherhood. We discuss how she’s evolved spiritually since then, since writing her book, Earth is Hiring, and how her self-care rituals, such as stepping off of social media and Cacao ceremonies, have changed since becoming a mom. We could talk to our girl all day, but we hope this conversation will fill you up for a while—self-expression, personal growth, and relationships—LET’S GO! We also talk about: Peta’s preparation & rituals for her home birth Relationships with plant medicine Importance of trust in soul growth The masculine & feminine in relationships Find more to love at almost30podcast.com! I was so disconnected from how I was moving through the world. I knew that I was doing my best to be a good person, I knew that I was constantly seeking and studying spiritual practices, but I didn’t actually know that I was sad.” (17:41) “I knew that I needed to take my self-education to another level because clearly I was not able to handle what I had stepped into to the extent to which was called for… but at the same time it was also the best gift.” (25:39) “I made the choice at 10 that I’m a leader, I’m not a follower. So over the years, when I would study spirituality, and I would have these downloads and messages, I believed that was true for me and that’s it. I’m not going to listen to what somebody has to say about whether it is true or not. If I see it in my mind, that’s it.” (26:19) “In those moments where you have literally the lowest moments of your life, you really have to dig in and be like, who really am I? And if I actually am that person, I have to show up that way. And that energy is a boundless, infinite well of power.” (35:40) “Wellness is for everyone. All shapes, all sizes, all backgrounds, all languages, all spiritual and religious beliefs, everybody gets in on this. That’s what I’m excited about seeing with wellness going mainstream.” (44:45) “You realize that this is an investment and you are literally changing your life. That’s what I am about; I’m about changing our lives so we can be who we came here to be. So, I’m willing to invest in that. And those who are aligned with that vibration of, like, yo I want to be and feel and do who I came into this physical body to be, feel, and do, that’s freaking worth the investment… whatever that is.” LET’S CONNECT Website: Bryanna Dee Instagram: @bryannasayingthings Facebook: Facebook.com/bryannadee Pinterest: Pinterest.com/bryannadee/
