Red Rocks is an iconic venue to see music in, and it is especially meaningful for the evolution of the Pretty Lights project and its impact on Colorado's electronic music scene. 2024 was no exception, as the band and crew continued to elevate the Pretty Lights experience to New Heights once again. The PL team pulled out all the stops for their massively triumphant return to the venue, six years in the making. The two-night run was highlighted by memorable bust-outs and iconic sit-ins that showcased the music's range: a string quartet's classical interpretations of contemporary tracks, Dominic Lalli's signature jazz flair added to fan favorites, and a monumental, unprecedented cameo from a contemporary of equally significant influence on the road to retirement, Dave Tipper. On the heels of this memorable weekend, the Check Your Vector tour heads to the hallowed grounds of Bethel, NY, home of the legendary Woodstock Music and Art Fair of 1969 for what is shaping up to be the destination event of the tour. We'll see you at Swirlstock

On this episode of Vinyl Verdict, Bell, Jamie and Plouffe listen to Jamie's next pick, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's "Deja Vu". Released in 1970, the album was one of the first albums released by a rock supergroup. David Crosby had previously been the guitarist in the band The Byrds, Stephen Stills and Neil Young had both been guitarists in the band Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash had been the lead singer of The Hollies. As a trio, CSN released their debut album in 1969, to immediate success and followed that up with a tour that included a stop at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, where they were joined by Neil Young. Following this, they got together to record what would become "Deja Vu", between July 1969 and January 1970. Each member of the group contributed multiple songs for the album. The sole cover, "Woodstock", was written by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. Contemporary reviews were favourable, and the album sold 500,000 copies in its first two weeks, and then followed that up by spending 88 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Today, the album is regarded as a classic of its time, with Rolling Stone naming it variously the 147th, 148th and 220th greatest album of all time, and the Library of Congress selected it as a significant work for its archive in 2023. But how will the boys rate it? Is it too of its own time for them? Come along and find out!

KEEP THE DREAM FLOWING – THE LOST EPISODES!! Way back in 2021, the original server we were using to host the first 60+ episodes of KEEP THE DREAM FLOWING mysteriously vanished, and the episodes, while never technically unavailable, became harder to find once we migrated to a new server. We are pleased and proud to begin the long-overdue task of migrating the episodes over to the new server, to have them all in the same place at last! And boy oh boy, do we have a good one for ya! There are few people who can honestly say that they were at the epicenter of the creation of Woodstock Nation than the amazing Ticia Agri! As Michael Lang‘s assistant, Ticia was intimately involved in the creation of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, and can fairly be considered one of the most important figures in the history of the festival. She has so many great stories to share, and in this episode, we get to hear just a precious few of them. This is the second of two episodes, and those are two of our best and most important!

Bob Dylan! *Greenwich Village native John Sebastian's contribution to modern music is unparalleled. The multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter has graced a wide spectrum of styles through his 60 years in music. Sebastian's performances on records for Bob Dylan (Bringing It All Back Home) and The Doors (harmonica on “Roadhouse Blues”) are the stuff of legend.John was the co-founder of the Lovin' Spoonful, often referred to as the American Beatles, who scored an incredible seven huge hits from 1965 to 1969, including “Daydream,” “Summer in the City,” and “Do You Believe in Magic.”After the Lovin' Spoonful disbanded in early 1969, Sebastian went solo and, by August of that year, was immortalized for his performance at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair and in the Warner Bros. movie Woodstock. The film chronicled his impromptu performance before an audience of 400,000 on August 16, 1969.He just released a new album with Arlen Roth : Explore The Spoonful Songbook.* https://www.johnbsebastian.com/*********************************************************************** The New Website ➜ https://www.adikalive.com/ARTISTS ON RECORD STORE➜https://adika-live.creator-spring.com/The Ultimate VIP ALL ACCESS BACKSTAGE PASSFull episodes can be seen in Patreon! On this episode Bryn and Angie discuss how watching the documentary Summer of Soul turned into listening to Sly & The Family Stone's performance at Woodstock. The album is called The Woodstock Experience and it's an amazing snapshot of one of the best bands every put together at the top of their game. Naturally the conversation drifts to talking about the The Woodstock Music and Art Fair and the Harlem Cultural Festival that the Summer of Soul documentary is about. “1 Hour of Peace & Music,” with Guest and Musical Guest, Creator of Woodstock Music & Art Fair of 1969, Writer, Producer, Promoter, Manager, Artie Kornfeld on The LIFE CHANGES Show #600
The budget went over 600 percent and the construction would never get completed, but the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival was a revolution. A free concert, not by design, that would define a culture and music more than any moment in the history of America. Woodstock would garner an audience of nearly half a million people that would live for 3 days in rough conditions and show the world the possibility of peace and love that would silence all the critics fears and define the power of youth culture . Part 2 of 3
3 Days of Peace and Music. That was the slogan of the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival. Vinnie talks about the making of the festival, what went down during the festival including the songs that were played at Woodstock, as well as the enduring legacy Woodstock still has on both American history and rock history.
Michael Lang is the persevering spirit behind one of the largest gatherings of musicians, fans, and artists in history—1969's Woodstock Music & Art Festival. Lang, the concert promoter and former head shop owner had experienced great success with the Miami Pop Festival, which was the largest music festival of the time until Woodstock a year later. Lang still lives in the Woodstock area with his family and oversees current and future Woodstock-related entertainment. The Michael Lang Organization has also worked with artists such as Prince, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruce Springsteen, Snoop Dogg, and Outkast. Are you tired of hearing how awe-inspiring the Woodstock Music and Art Fair was 50 years ago for 400,000 lucky hippies in Bethel, New York? Imagine how the people of 1969 felt—specifically the millions who couldn’t go. Yet, in the age before YouTube and social media, the rest of America did catch Woodstock fever—weeks, months, even a year or more later—and they made stars out of many of the performers. By 1970, not only was the Woodstock movie dominating the box office; the soundtrack album and a constellation of Woodstock stars were crushing the Billboard charts. This month’s Hit Parade offers a new take on Woodstock: To understand its legacy, you have to look at the charts long after August 1969. Chris Molanphy counts down 10 acts—some of them music legends, some of them short-lived hitmakers—who were materially boosted by the festival: from a guy hanging out backstage who got shoved onstage by desperate show organizers; to the band who loathed the whole experience yet saw their albums reach new chart heights; to the young man who arrived with no discography but kicked off one of the longest hitmaking careers in rock history. The year was 1969. Richard Nixon was in the White House. Neil Armstrong was on the Moon. And revolution was in the air. In that backdrop, 500,000 young people gathered on a mid-August weekend in upstate New York for the promise of three days of peace and music. What they experienced at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair was something far greater. Mike Greenblatt knows. He was there! Celebrating “the greatest peaceful event in history,” Woodstock 50th Anniversary: Back to Yasgur’s Farm (Krause Publications) offers a dazzling and compelling front-row seat to the most important concert in rock history, an implausible happening filled with trials and triumphs that defined a generation. Author and Woodstock attendee Mike Greenblatt brilliantly captures the power of music’s greatest performers such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Santana, John Sebastian and the Who, while sharing stories both personal and audacious from the crowd of a half million strong who embraced not only the music but each other. The book features a Foreword by Country Joe McDonald, whose rousing solo acoustic version of “The Fish Cheer/I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-To-Die Rag” was one of the most memorable performances at Woodstock. Readers will enjoy interviews with such rock icons as Graham Nash, Carlos Santana, Joe Cocker, Richie Havens, Country Joe McDonald, Edgar Winter, members of Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Sly & The Family Stone, Canned Heat, Sha Na Na, co-host Chip Monck, fans and countless others. In addition, all 32 performances at the festival are showcased. Equal parts circus and surreal, Woodstock 50th Anniversary: Back to Yasgur’s Farm tells a transcendent tale of a musical and mythical moment in time.
Artie Kornfeld, former vice president of Capitol Records, songwriter, (over 75 Billboard charted hits) and was involved in the making of over 150 albums. In the 1980s, Kornfeld produced some of the biggest hits of the decade, including "Eye of The Tiger", Tracy Chapman’s "Fast Car" and Neil Young’s "Rockin In The Free World". Perhaps, Artie's most famous for co-creating The Woodstock Music & Arts Festival with Michael Lang, Joel Rosenman and John P.Roberts. Robin LaRose speaks with the Pied Piper and father of Woodstock about how it all came together.

Join us this week for Noon Edition as we revisit Woodstock to talk about its lasting legacy and how it forever changed live concerts.
Here's your daily look at 'Today in Rock History' featuring: Jennifer Lawrence is 29. Joe Jonas is 30. Debra Messing is 51. Napoleon Bonaparte was born on this day in 1769. He only had one testicle, maybe that's why he was so angry. Today in 1965, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and about 56,000 other people packed Shea Stadium for a Beatles concert... which was, at that time, the largest single crowd to attend a rock 'n roll show. In 1969, the Woodstock Music and Art Fair opened for three groovy days at Max Yasgur's farm in Bethel, New York. Over 400,000 people peacefully attended. And today in 1995, Vince Neil's four-year-old daughter, Skylar, died of multiple organ failure. Now regarded as one the most iconic cultural expressions of American society, the Woodstock festival of 1969 served to encapsulate the spirit of the 1960s counterculture movement. Despite Woodstock's continued popularity 50 years after it was first held, the complexities that led to its creation and lasting social impacts are often overlooked. On this episode […]

We recently attended the 2019 Museum Association of New York annual conference and spoke with attendees from all over New York State representing all types of museums and cultural institutions. I talked with folks from 21 different museums and cultural institutions about how they are creating inclusive environments, attracting new audiences and fitting within the tourism fabric of their community. We used these great insights to create another Museum Series (see last year’s series here) with five episodes filled with knowledge. Through this series, I hope you will find a new perspective on this important segment of the tourism industry. In this episode, I share my conversations with: Julia Fell, Assistant Curator of The Museum at Bethel Woods Natalie Shoemaker, Marketing and Events Coordinator of the Roberson Museum and Science Center Jessica Moquin, Executive Director of the Chenango County Historical Society and Museum Anastasia Garceau, Director of the Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center What You Will Learn in This Episode: How The Museum at Bethel Woods works to preserve and showcase the history of the 1960s, leading up to 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair that took place at the historic site where the museum is now located How an innovative “pay it forward” program is promoting inclusivity by allowing visitors who are financially struggling to still be able to visit the Roberson Museum and Science Center How the Chenango County Historical Society and Museum is intentionally developing partnerships with the Bundy Museum and the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum to help promote inclusivity in a region not known for its ethnic diversity How the Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center is promoting inclusivity by partnering with The Arc of Rensselaer County to showcase the work of artists with mental and physical disabilities The Museum at Bethel Woods Julia Fell shares the important mission of The Museum at Bethel Woods as a part of the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, located in Solomon County, New York. She discusses its role in the preservation of the history of the 1960s, culminating in the Woodstock festival that took place in 1969 on the historic grounds where the museum now stands, and she talks about the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Woodstock festival in August 2019. She discusses the efforts Bethel Woods and the museum are making to promote inclusivity through a variety of programming that targets many diverse audiences, she highlights their efforts to meet ADA accessibility standards, and she shares efforts to attract new young audiences. Julia discusses a series of oral history videos highlighting what life was like in the 1960s for young people of the day, contrasted with what life is like for today’s youth. She shares how the museum serves as a primary driver and important economic engine for the local community. She discusses the upcoming 50th anniversary of Woodstock and the boom in interest it is bringing to the museum. Roberson Museum and Science Center Natalie Shoemaker explains how the historic Roberson home serves as both the location for and the centerpiece of the Roberson Museum and Science Center located in Binghamton, New York. She discusses efforts to promote inclusivity at the museum including installing non-binary bathrooms and the use of inclusive pronouns. She shares how she wrote up an exhibition about a series of art pieces created by people with mental illness, and she shares the important lesson she learned when she inadvertently used a non-inclusive word in the write-up. She discusses the importance of continual growth and evolution in the area of inclusivity. She talks about the economic depression that is common in the area, and she discusses a “pay it forward” donation program to increase access to struggling community members. She shares efforts to attract new audiences to the museum. She gives information on social media outreach work she and the museum are doing to promote their exhibits. She shares how the museum fits into the local cultural fabric and discusses future opportunities to work with college students and older community members. Chenango County Historical Society & Museum Jessica Moquin describes efforts the Chenango County Historical Society and Museum are making to promote inclusivity, despite being located in a region not known for ethnic diversity, through intentional partnerships with other organizations such as the Bundy Museum and the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum. She shares how the museum is working to attract new audiences including a structural redesign of their main gallery and hallway lobby, as well as sharing stories about the region and the lasting impact it has made beyond its own borders. She discusses how her museum is one of four in the area, and she shares how the four museums are collaborating to develop an officially designated museum district to promote each other and attract new audiences. She shares future growth opportunities she recognizes for the museum and its more than 40,000 artifacts, eight-structure campus, and almost one hundred active volunteers. Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center Anastasia Garceau discusses the variety of historical and educational purposes the Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center in Waterford, New York serves in an effort to preserve and promote local history and heritage. She highlights the diverse backgrounds and perspectives the museum’s volunteers bring to its efforts, and she shares partnerships with groups like The Arc of Rensselaer County, a community-based organization advocating for and serving people with mental and physical disabilities. Anastasia talks about her efforts to create engaging programs covering a broad spectrum of interests that will attract a diverse audience of visitors. She shares how Waterford is a great tourism location with many different and diverse destinations to appeal to travelers, and she shares how this directly benefits the museum and allows to serve as a central location connecting these sites. She discusses how the museum is always looking for growth opportunities and ways to expand their existing programming. Overview Each of these organizations is truly committed to tackling inclusivity issues in their own unique and innovative way. From the Roberson Museum and Science Center’s use of non-gendered pronouns and offering of non-binary restroom facilities, to the Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center’s partnership to highlight the artistic contributions of mentally and physically disabled artists, each of these museums has found a remarkable and stand-out way to promote inclusivity, attract diverse new audiences, and further integrate their work with other tourism and cultural efforts of their communities. Rolling Stone journalist Andy Greene joins Tim to talk about plans to mark the 50th anniversary of Woodstock and the legacy across generations left by that iconic original event in 1969. https://traffic.libsyn.com/shapingopinion/Woodstock_Then_and_Now_auphonic_II.mp3 From August 16th through the 18th of 2019, the original organizer of Woodstock will host a 50th Anniversary event in Watkins Glen, New York. Michael Lang, that original planner, said there will be more than 40 performers at an event that he says will get back to Woodstock’s roots and as he puts it, the event’s original intent. This event is one of two Woodstock 50th anniversary concerts that will happen in Upstate New York on the same weekend. The one hosted by original Woodstock promoter Michael Lang is called Woodstock 50. The other event will be called the Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival. That event will be held at the original Woodstock site at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Live Nation is sponsoring that festival. While Woodstock 50 appears to be primarily a music event, the Bethel Woods event will include cultural and community activities, including a history exhibit and some TED-style talks. One thing you can be sure. On the third weekend of August this year, Upstate New York will host scores of people, some looking to relive a moment in their youth, and others seeking to create one. History On August 16, 1969, the original event, called the Woodstock Music & Art Fair, took place on a dairy farm in Bethel, New York. Over 500,000 people, mostly teenagers and college-age traveled from across the country to a 600-acre farm. It was the biggest rock concert ever. The promoters gave up collecting tickets after a while. They sat in the heat and the rain to hear 32 acts that included some well-known and some not-so-well known musical acts. But if the event were just about the music, Woodstock wouldn’t be the phenomenon that it became. The late 1960s were a time for youthful rebellion, anti-war protests, the emergence of a counter-culture. And of course, there was the music. Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, The Who, Janis Joplin, Crosby, Still, Nash & Young, and Joni Mitchell were some of the headliners. Over 100,000 tickets were sold before the Woodstock festival started, and by the end of four days of music, over 500,000 people endured rain, heat and spartan conditions to create a happening that is now part of history. Andy Greene has been following the anniversary activities and plans as part of his role with the Rolling Stone. What’s Different This Time The original attendees are 50 years older. They are now retirees for the most part. The prices have changed: 3-day passes $429-$4,200 for VIPs. Woodstock 50 at Watkins Glen will center around The Glen, a racetrack with capacity for 40,000. Expected to draw 100,000 in terms of ticket sales with three main stages. The Bethel Woods festival will center on the Center for the Arts, an amphitheater with seating for 15,000. There will be more stages, but it’s likely that 500,000 number from the original event won’t be matched. Artie Kornfeld is magic. The producer of over 100 gold and platinum records, the Vice president of Capitol Records and the Producer/creator of the world loved festival Woodstock". "On the weekend of August 15th, 1969 an estimated 500,000 people from all over America descended on the 600-acre dairy farm of Max Yasgur, in Bethel, New York, for a three-day concert, the Woodstock Music and Art Fair. On Monday, August 18th, they all melted back into America after witnessing legendary performances by, among others, the Who, Santana, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joe Cocker, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix and, in only their second live show together, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Despite delays, the danger of electrical shocks and general backstage anarchy, Woodstock pulled off the ultimate magic act of the 1960's: turning utter rain-soaked chaos into the greatest rock festival ever and the decade's most famous and successful experiment in peace and community." © 2004 Rolling Stone THE PIED PIPER OF WOODSTOCK is Artie's book on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Pied-Piper-Woodstock-Artie-Kornfeld/dp/0615325998 Visit his web site at http://artiekornfeld-woodstock.com/introduction.htm
An interview with Greg Walters, who helped build the site of the Woodstock Music and Art Festival. What a great time it must have been to be at the Woodstock Peace Love and Music festival in 1969. The music for tonight is full of The Who, CCR, Janice, Jimi Hendrix and so much more. We have a special guest from the famous tribute band Magic Bus in Don Joray who is the lead guitarist. Watching some of videos from the band, he looks and acts like Pete Townsend. We are also doing this particular genre of music because we are having a tribute to the music from way back in the 60's. Should be a fun show and can't wait to play Walter Cronkite again like last year as we play back the audio of his broadcast after the festival was over. Show starts at 8 pm est tonight
Prior to Santana, Rolie played with a group called William Penn and his Pals while attending Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, California, circa 1965. A year after graduating from high school in 1965, Rolie joined Carlos Santana and others to form the Santana Blues Band, which was later shortened simply to Santana. As a founding member of Santana, Rolie was part of the band's first wave of success, including an appearance at the Woodstock Music and Art Festival in 1969 and central roles in several hit albums. He is perhaps best known for being their original lead vocalist, with his voice driving such classic Santana hits as Black Magic Woman (US #4), Oye Como Va, No One To Depend On and Evil Ways. He also became well known for his unique sound and groundbreaking work on the Hammond B3 organ, with classic solos on many of the aforementioned hits. However, persistent differences with Carlos Santana regarding the musical direction of the band led Rolie to leave the band at the end of 1971. In 1973 Rolie joined a new band with ex-Santana guitarist Neal Schon; this became Journey. Starring in a lineup that featured Schon, Aynsley Dunbar, George Tickner, and Ross Valory, he was keyboardist for the band's first six albums. On Journey and Look into the Future, he was lead vocalist, and on Next he shared those duties with guitarist Neal Schon. After Steve Perry joined the band in 1977, Rolie sang co-lead vocals on several songs on the albums Infinity, Evolution, and Departure. After leaving Journey in 1980, Gregg released several solo albums, including the eponymous Gregg Rolie in 1985. This album featured the song “I Wanna Go Back,” which later became a hit for Eddie Money, and included contributions from Carlos Santana, Peter Wolf, Neal Schon, and Craig Chaquico. A second solo effort, Gringo, was released in 1987. Rolie formed The Storm in 1991 with Steve Smith (replaced by Ron Wikso after the recording of the first album) and Ross Valory of Journey. The band also included Josh Ramos (whose guitar style resembles that of Neal Schon) and Kevin Chalfant (whose voice resembles that of Steve Perry). Similar to his work with Journey and Steve Perry, Rolie played keyboards and was a co-lead vocalist on several tracks of the band's first, eponymous, album, which hit #3 on the Billboard albums chart and spawned the Top Ten single “I've Got A Lot To Learn About Love.” Despite this success, their second album, recorded in 1993, was shelved, due to the industry's shifting focus to favor rap and alternative music audiences. It finally saw limited release in 1996, and in 1998, Rolie and other former members of Santana, including Neal Schon, briefly reunited as Abraxas Pool, releasing one eponymous album. When Schon left to lead a re-formed Journey later that year, Rolie and Ron Wikso began work in 1999, on a Gregg Rolie solo CD, titled “Roots”, which eventually led to the forming of the Gregg Rolie Band. Besides Rolie and Wikso, “Roots” featured appearances by Neal Schon, Alphonso Johnson, Dave Amato, Adrian Areas, Michael Carabello. The Gregg Rolie Band saw Kurt Griffey taking over guitar duties and the addition of Wally Minko as a second keyboardist. They recorded a live CD at Sturgis called “Rain Dance”, which was released in 2009. #Santana #Journey
Hello MovieSetters and welcome to our all-Cannes edition of The Behind the Scenes Show with Eric Fell and Shaun Stewart. This webisode we are looking at some of the different movies that are being focused on in Cannes. Specifically we are going to talk about the new Pixar movie 'UP' followed by a look at Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds' and the new movie 'Taking Woodstock'.First off we look at 'UP' which is the opening film for the Cannes International Film Festival. Its the first time an animated motion picture has been the opening film for the prestigious festival so its quite an honor. By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip.'Inglourious Basterds' begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema. Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own..."Taking Woodstock" is a 1969-set story, based on Elliot Tiber's memoir, about a man, Elliot Tiber (Demetri Martin), who inadvertently played a role in making the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival into the famed happening it was. Working as an interior designer in Greenwich Village during culturally and politically exciting times, Mr. Tiber felt empowered by the gay rights movement. But he was also still staked to the family business - a Catskills motel. Upon hearing that a planned concert had lost its permit from the neighboring town of Wallkill, NY, Mr. Tiber called producer Michael Lang (Jonathan Groff) at Woodstock Ventures to offer his family's motel, the El Monaco, to the promoters. Soon the Woodstock staff was moving into the El Monaco; half a million people were on their way to Mr. Tiber's neighbor's Max Yasgur's (Eugene Levy) farm in White Lake, NY; and Mr. Tiber found himself swept up in a generation-defining experience that would change his life, and American culture, forever.Be sure to check out more Behind the Scenes as well as Previous Episodes!Subscribe to behind the Scenes in iTunes or by Email
On this week's podcast we've got News, Crosstalk, a Gear Review, Viewer Mail and we tweak The Stupid Knob! This week Mike is relaxing in Cabo and Slau is sitting in as guest host. Slau is a New York City-based singer/songwriter and producer. During his teenage years, he developed his performance skills as a multi-instrumentalist while performing with various folk ensembles and dance bands. His reputation as a versatile musician led to an early career as a session musician for television scores as well as commercial jingles and underscores. Slau's songwriting has been recognized by Musician Magazine where he was a semi-finalist in the Best Unsigned Band Contest and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Songwriters Workshop. He's been a featured performer at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Showcase and has been a regular contributor to the New York City Songwriters Circle and The Bitter End. In 2005, the new media world of podcasting rallied behind one of Slau's tunes entitled If Every Day Were Christmas, a song co-written with Orlando Pagan. Former MTV VJ, Adam Curry, heard the song, played it on his podcast, The Daily Source Code and came up with the idea of a We Are the World-type benefit. Over 50 artists from 9 countries took part in Podsafe for Peace, a benefit song for UNICEF produced by Slau. It remains in the Top 10 most played songs in the podcasting world and has been played on satellite and terrestrial radio including Sirius, XM, BBC, CBC and Westwood One. Currently, Slau is working on a follow up to The Weight of Words, his 2001 debut album. The new album is scheduled for release in the spring of 2008.
