Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition that involves  persistent challenges  in social interaction, speech and nonverbal communication, and restricted/repetitive behaviors. The effects of  ASD and the severity of symptoms are different in each person.In this episode, I chat with Deniece Campos Landry about what ASD is and how she and her family have found ways around the challenges that come with ASD. In this mini episode, Hillary nerds out about the anatomy of the myelin sheath. The myelin sheath is the protective, fatty coating surrounding your nerve fibers along the axon, similar to the protective covering around electrical wires. It allows electrical impulses between nerve cells to travel back and forth very, very quickly. Most tattoos tell a sentimental story. This episode tells the story of what happens in our body when we get a tattoo. Believe in your ability. Those words are straight from Dr. Joseph Talbet himself. Dr. Talbet is an inspiring individual in many ways. After getting his pilot's licence and flying for a couple years, he turned back to his true passion, medicine. He completed his MD in Egypt and moved to the United States to become a plastic surgeon. Dr. Carlye Jensen resides in Uxbridge Ontario where she practices family medicine, works in the ER, does hospitalist work and palliative care. She is also chief of the local hospital.
