Today's guest is Rosalyn Khan of A message for tomorrow's leaders. Rosalyn has written three books - Random acts of kindness are changing the world all about mastering the message with passion and purpose, Dogs and Roses reducing stress and anxiety in today's troubled times which was born out of Rosalyn's own experiences with depression, and a message from tomorrow's leaders - a collection of essays from individuals which started pre-COVID and evolved into something very different throughout the resulting year.Rosalyn and I had a chat a little while ago about this episode and with her background as a college professor and many speaking experiences including TedX stages, I was quite struck at how much WhyMe has been at the centre of her life up to now. Starting with growing up with scoliosis, she has learned to roll with the ups and downs. As she herself has talked about finding the light through the darkness, I wonder how much we sometimes need to know the darkness in order to recognise the power of illumination with light?Like many of you listening in, Rosalyn has lived with the ever changing landscape of a world which is evolving in front of our eyes whether we are ready for it or not. I had a feeling when she messaged me a few weeks ago that as her WhyMe moments have shifted, so too has her current focus and motivation, just like the book a message for tomorrow's leaders. As a leader herself, I am keen to uncover some of the layers that make Rosalyn tick and why she devotes so much time and passion to helping others.I am particularly excited to discover where Rosalyn and my conversation will go today, and with the title being named “The NOW of WhyMe”, I welcome you to the WhyMe podcast. You can contact Rosalyn at her website. Do you know the difference between and dream and a goal? Spoiler alert! It's the movement! The action you take. That's the big secret. Today's I have two guests, Marie Martin and Carry Howell of JustRockIt Coaching. Carry believes for him that being a strong man is being able to intentionally bring himself into a meditative state with a wide open heart and crying tears of joy. Marie explains that a boundary establishes what is you and what is another. They are about owning your inner space and knowing you have a choice and responsibility for your own boundaries, attitude and energy.I am excited to interview Marie and Carry today, as their individual stories will resonate with different people. I have titled this episode Without you there is…? There are multiple reasons for this which we will explore during his session. Topics such as – Defining who is you? - what is home and how when you remove the ‘you' (whatever that may be, a home, a career, a person, an identity) then what? There is a story – actually many stories, behind Renee's journey, and she is here today to share some of her WhyMe moments with you. I am very excited to listen to Renee share as we personally connected on a deep level the other week as she interviewed me.First, I want to share part of a blog post from her website written in 2019 I felt is a revealing post. I've removed some of the post to enable the listener to discover your story Renee as you strip back the layers during our conversation. The post is titled Do I spit or do I swallow?"I can't spit any more, It's time to swallow. It's hard, It's bitter, And it's the most courageous thing I can do. It's tastes like crap, But it will nourish my soul. There's a part of me that has been ashamed. Ashamed of the answer to the question… What have you been up to? I didn't shed a tear for years!Unstoppable, determined and courageous. Pushed myself so far into whatever scared me and into the unknown, completely unafraid for myself and whether or not I could do it. I prided myself on being “ALL IN” when it came to my clients. Like, I gave all of myself physically, mentally, energetically and spiritually. I wore it like a badge of honour. For the life of me, I couldn't muster up the desire or the energy to do that this year. So I hid. That's the part that is hard to swallow. I'm done spitting. Rejecting the part of me that is ready to swallow. It's time to really enter the void. To take action. To go there. To answer the question of “what have I been up to?”I've been finding myself. Discovering who I am, really. Minus my identity. Minus my business. Minus my brand. Minus my kids. Minus my Mum.I'm cracked right open and ready. Ready to sit with myself. Really to sit with myself. My soul self. In the void." Renee MayneYou can contact Renee on her LinkedIn Instagram and Facebook.Do you know the difference between and dream and a goal? Spoiler alert! It's the movement! It keeps me current, relevant and I continuously practice what I preach! I stand by what I teach my clients and I guarantee if they do the work, trust me and do what I tell them, they will achieve anything they set their mind to.Trusting the journey and choosing who we entrust with our own journey is a topic I know we will speak to more as Deva shares her whyme moments with us in this conversation. You can contact Deva on Facebook and Instagram.Do you know the difference between and dream and a goal? Hanna Krawczak, CEO and founder of Heracumen, a leadership membership where Hanna aims to help women uncage their potential brand where their past helps them to become unstoppable leaders. She is the author of The Princess Warrior - my secret journey to leadership and she offers courses such as Shadow mastery and Warrior transformation among others. I would like to paraphrase one of Hanna's posts discussing the choices we all have as I feel it sets the scene for her story so beautifully. “You have a choice in life - To go through with a blindfold, wearing the lens of shadow and past wounds and filter what you see always through pain. Or you can take the glasses off and stop living in the world of illusion. 2 years ago, I was wearing my shadow glasses and was trying to keep smiling through my pain. I was full of anger, frustration, distrust. Today, I finally understand what the shadow is, where it comes from and how to heal it to become emotionally independent. Today, I am open to experience beauty, love, care. Today I understand there is great power in vulnerability and letting go of the limiting beliefs that forced me to put the armour on and be ready for war.Today, I don't need to be ready for war anymore, I don't need to wake up with a defensive or offensive attitude. Today, I finally can wake up with an honest smile on my face, with love in my heart and affection towards my upcoming day. You are living in a constant fear that is why you need armour, control, sword, anger. The real power is when you dress yourself in trust not naivety, in faith not in hope, in the feeling of abundance and not the lack thereof and in the mode of receiving and not taking or over giving. I wish you all to be able to wake up in silence, calmness and stability not in chaos, misery or anxiety. I wish you all to see your shadow, limitations, fears, destructive beliefs, feeling and thoughts and understand them so you can heal and stand in your power - so you can take those shades off and show the world your smile through your beautiful eyes.I certainly want to know what is behind these wise words from Hannah, and the path she has travelled through her challenges in life to illuminate the light of her own path as well as for other women. You can contact Hanna on her website and Facebook.Do you know the difference between and dream and a goal? Spoiler alert! It's the movement! The action you take. That's the big secret. Today's guest is Marissa Hamon, a self love and life coach and a woman who I am excited to get to know a little more during today's conversation. Marissa has personally dealt with limiting beliefs, depression, emotional eating, body shame, not being able to love and accept herself, and feelings of powerlessness, unworthiness, and not being good enough. Because of her own healing journey, she knows that it is possible to heal and overcome any life difficulties, and live a happy, joyful, fulfilled life when given the right tools and support. I know we will be discussing how important it is to embrace the journey as we each navigate through life's challenges, of which Marissa has experienced a few! I felt this quote of her own words perfectly introduced her today and so I will share this quote with you now.Im SLOWLY learning - Do you do this too?? I learn something and then I forget it. I very rarely get it the first time... or sometimes even the 6th or 7th.I learn that I'm enough, then I forget and have to relearn it. I learn that my body doesn't determin my worth, then I forget and have to relearn it. I learn that I'm a sexual being and that my body and desire for pleasure is a good thing, and then I forget and have to relearn it. I learn the importance of sleep and hydration for my mental health, then I forget and have to relearn it. I learn how to say no and set boundaries, then I forget and have to relearn it. I learn how to love myself through compassion and self responsibility, then, you guessed it, I forget and have to relearn it.This is part of life. We learn and grow. Sometimes we forget and grow. Today, I will embrace my relearning process. You can contact Marissa on Instagram.Do you know the difference between and dream and a goal? Spoiler alert! It's the movement! The action you take. Today's guest is one of Australia's most revered music photographers and a true creative soul, Michelle Grace Hunder. For over 10 years, she has immersed herself in the hip hop culture of the music scene with dynamic and naturally shot portraiture. Her personal project with Claudia Dalimorae over a four-year span created the industry acclaimed documentary “Her sound, Her story” and celebrated the women in front of and behind the scenes of many genres of Australian music. This film was shining a light on the unique difficulties women face in getting their voice heard amidst the boys club mentality of the music scene.Michelle runs a weekly photography challenge on her twitch channel for her community and there is so much to love about Michelle operating out of her true calling and life passion – yet it wasn't always this way... As she says herself, she had to go through a catastrophic failure of epic proportions before she was able to find her own niche. I am so excited to have Michelle here today to tell us about her WhyMe moment and how she used her adversity to grow within herself and why she now brings such a big following of fans and industry leaders to the table, embracing all that she has become through her journey. You can contact Michelle on Instagram, Twitch and on her website.Next week is the 100th Episode!Do you know the difference between and dream and a goal? Timm Hawkins, a friend of mine and fellow podcaster of the Good Vibes Imminent Show. He is currently working in a homeless shelter to give emotional support where he can. He states he “just wants to spread love and smiles to as many people as possible.” In other words, to spread good vibes. One of my favourite things I've seen Timm consistently put out there is the #stickynotesundays. I've been watching his plight to spread a little compassion and hope to others by writing short messages to strangers on sticky notes and placing them in random places around his travels. One place he revisited after a few months and the notes were still there, albeit a little doggy eared. On one door stuck just above the cold steel handle the note read “True beauty comes from kindness and compassion”. Another was above a snow-covered handle with a message of “Love others and love yourself.”Simple messages with profound effect and staying power, literally! I feel some people are enjoying these daily reminders and so have made sure these notes stay in place through the winter, warming their hearts just a little each day as they push open to enter the warmth and comfort of the space inside. That is how I see Timm creating content for others to feel warm and happy about themselves and finding more simple ways to see the joy and hope in their life, through love, compassion, empathy and connection. He is here today to share some of his journey through adversity and how he is using his skills as a health coach to help others get through their mentally tough challenges. Content awareness - discussions of breast cancer and conversations around potentially dying as a young mother. When Katrina heard the words, you have breast cancer, she thought "Am I the youngest person to have this? Am I going to die?" Breast cancer affects many women of all ages and some men too! Listen to her story of resilience and good old Aussie humor mixed into the serious conversations we had together in what is an enlightening and insightful collection of stories, shared wisdom and real emotion. Kat created the Breast Cancer Pocket Guide and Mastectomy fashion label KYK to help others who are undergoing the traumatic journey of a breast cancer diagnosis. She discusses many of the ways in which people dive head first into the world of losing their hair, losing their happiness and losing their boobs to cancer - and finding what really matters through all of this. A must listen to episode for sure.Today's guest is Katrina Houghton, an avid sports person, having represented Australia in junior hockey and a mum of three, can understand the importance of keeping a healthy body and a healthy mind. Where one in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime and it is the second leading cause of cancer death in Australian women, Kat wanted to do something to help those going through the chemo, the surgery and the struggle to survive. She developed the Know Your Knockers Breast Cancer Pocket Guide, consulting specialists and professionals in the industry for a succinct and usable resource for those receiving their diagnosis of cancer and going through treatment and after. The resources that the Pocket Book provided and how much her efforts were helping patients, Kat then saw another gap in the market for cancer warriors who had a mastectomy and struggled to find clothes to accommodate their changed physiology. Her Know Your Knockers clothing line was created, and she was the winner of the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women's Network Small Business Owner of the Year Award in November 2020. Using local designers, Kat has forged ahead to help many women feel sexy as they continue to live their lives with hope and renewed self-confidence.Kat will talk a little more about her own adversities and why she became so passionate with this business venture where she sells the ‘tittie singlets' It's so Aussie and I love it. And a range of unisex tees, including the fuuk cancer tees, because yes, guys can get breast cancer too. The F.U.U.K spelling cleverly shows the two U's as boobs and is quitethe tongue in cheek approach. But sometimes let's face it, survivors need to have a laugh for a moment along what can be a devastating journey for so many. As she says, “Cancer may have started the fight, but we will finish it”.Kat's book recommendations* include Nevermoor Book Series 1-3 by Jessica Townsend, Harry Potter - The Complete Collection 7 Book Boxset by J.K Rowling, and The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle. You can get in contact with Kat at her website and Facebook.Do you know the difference between and dream and a goal? You can get a copy of Adrienne's books* by clicking here Melting Ivory – Life happens for you, not to you and her follow up book with help for you after reading her first book and opening your awareness, Enough – Breaking the cycle of emotional abuse in romantic relationships.Adrienne understands the first step to leaving an abusive relationship is the awareness of the abuse itself and the Why you are in this situation - but then what? The next step is the how of getting out of these relationships and the importance of making the changes yourself that are needed to leave this relationship and also to learn how to avoid being caught in the pattern of abuse after leaving. The understanding of the how came out of her own lived-in experiences, of which we will hear more in today's episode. From one of her recent podcasts on that's aloud, she conversed on thoughtful topics, such as “Saying No is not the end of the conversation – it is the beginning.” And “Literally anything is possible, now the question is, what challenges are you willing to take on to do something highly improbably?” She is known for helping others harness creative energy and storytelling including through asking the question, What is the story that is not being told to the world right now?.... Could that be yours? This is one of the reasons I am so excited to have her on the show today, as a woman whose vision is so aligned with my own passion for sharing and honouring stories and teaching you how to do it yourself, by giving you the permission to live a fulfilling life and the toolkit to follow through with action. In her own words, “You can be still, you can just be. You can create something for just fun, you can be everything you are, without apology. That's aloud.” Our Story Whisperer, Adrienne MacLain.Adrienne's recommended book reading* includes Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, The Artist's Journey: The Wake of the Hero's Journey and the Lifelong Pursuit of Meaning by Steven Pressfield and Big Magic: How to Live a Creative Life, and Let Go of Your Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert you can grab your own copy here on Amazon.
