On this episode of the Oilfield 360 podcast, David de Roode is joined by his special co-host Jim Wicklund, and David's special guest: author, philosopher and pragmatist, Alex Epstein. This is a unique conversation as it takes place in the air traversing from Jackson, Mississippi to Midland, Texas. Why you might ask? David had agreed to support previous podcast guest and CEO of Innovex, Adam Anderson and his fossil fueled event to raise awareness about all of the good things the oil and gas industry does for our country and the world and how its use has allowed us to flourish and survive an otherwise harsh climate and improve our quality of life in modern times as we know it as well as raise money for Oil Patch Kids. To make Adam's event a success, he needed to find a way to get Alex from the campus of Mississippi State University where he was speaking earlier that day to Midland to attend for a fireside chat with Adam as part of the fossil fueled mini conference. David agreed to get Alex from Jackson to Midland to support Adam and Oil Patch Kids, and Alex agreed to have a conversation with David and Jim en route. The conversation is fantastic in our opinion and a testament to the quality of thoughtfulness and thinking Alex possesses on the topics of human flourishing, climate survivability and the necessity of a strong oil and gas industry. The conversation will make you think and leave you wanting for more. For more, we point you to www.energytalkingpoints.com

On Tuesday morning before the first release of the College Football Playoff Rankings Andy & Randy were joined by DawgNationDaily Host Brandon Adams as the three talked about who will step up the most with defensive end Nolan Smith out for the season due to a pectoral injury in a matchup of top three teams. Georgia, surprisingly to some, came in ranked 3rd in the first release of the College Football Playoff Rankings. Tennessee was ranked #1 for the first time ever in the playoff rankings era of college football. After explaining how Nolan Smith's leadership was unique in a lot of ways, Brandon Adams explained how Robert Beal could be the player to help fill the void left by Nolan Smith's season ending injury. “A guy like Robert Beal who is going to be on the field more. Beal was, believe or not, Georgia's leading sack man a year ago. For all the talk about all those first round picks, it was actually Beal who had the most sacks,” Adams said. “Last year it was around this time when Adam Anderson left the team for a very different reason than what we are saying with Nolan Smith here but when Anderson stepped away Robert Beal kind of stepped up. Maybe the same thing could happen throughout the rest of this year I don't know but one way or another Georgia has to find some pass rush somewhere because it hasn't had nearly enough of it and now it's about to face teams where you have to have a good bit more of that if you want to thrive like you did this time a season ago,” Adams added. Beal had 6.5 sacks last season while he only has 0.5 sack through 8 games this year. #3 Georgia hosts #1 Tennessee at 3:30pm on CBS this Saturday November 5th. You can hear Andy & Randy Monday-Friday from 11a-2p on 92.9 The Game.

Recorded on June 1st, 2022 https://youtu.be/8CgDLyvds_s Episode 49 of the PetroNerds podcast is a PetroNerdy service company focused podcast with Adam Anderson, the CEO of Innovex. Trisha Curtis and Adam talk shop on oilfield services and the state of the oil market. Innovex is known to many in and outside the oil and gas industry for being the company which North Face rejected a jacket order on the basis that Innovex was involved in the oil business. (The Colorado Oil and Gas Association gave North Face an award in response, mocking them for their hypocrisy and direct support of oil and gas given most of their products are made from petroleum. Chris Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy (formerly Liberty Oilfield Services) has led a campaign in Denver Colorado, purchasing billboards, thanking North Face for their oil and gas use.) Trisha and Adam talk about oilfield services in a $100 barrel market, inflation, ESG and investor pressure, the underinvestment thesis, and what is happening in the market with OPEC and Russia. Adam asks Trisha questions and they disagree a bit and debate about what is happening in the oil market. It is a great conversation and worth a listen! On June 1st, 2022 oil prices were $115.27 WTI, $116.35 Brent. Henry Hub $8.70 and Dutch TTF $/MMBTU $27. The 30 year mortgage rate was 5.57 percent.

I needed today's conversation so much. Both this interview and the last one we release came while I was in a bit of an inflection point professionally with one of my other projects. If you want to know more about my other project, subscribe over at themeaningmovement.com. But as i said before the last episode, this felt like a case where, as the saying goes, when the student is ready the teacher appears. And boy was I ready.
