Amalgam Comics was a collaborative publishing imprint shared by DC Comics and Marvel Comics, in which the two comic book publishers merged their characters into new ones (e.g., the DC Comics character Batman and the Marvel Comics character Wolverine became the Amalgam Comics character the Dark Claw). These characters first appeared in a series of 12 one-shots which were published in April 1996 between Marvel Comics versus DC #3 and DC versus Marvel Comics #4, the last two issues of the DC vs. Marvel crossover event. A second set of 12 one-shots followed one year later in June 1997, but without the crossover event as a background. All 24 of these one-shots took place between the aforementioned issues of DC vs. Marvel Comics. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rangerryan/message

We got the band back together and we are heading to Riverdale to discuss Josie and the Pussycats from Archie Comics. We cover a brief history of Archie Comics and Josie, the band's first appearance in the 1960s, the 2016 reboot, their role on Riverdale and especially the 2001 film which is much more satirical and meta you might remember. Plus Rob discusses his experience working on the Archie Comics Musical! We are joined by resident Josie expert and superfan Ethan from MakeMineAmalgam who literally watched the film every day for a year. Ep. 95 What if Josie and the Pussycats saved the world from being destroyed by teenagers turned into capitalist zombies? With Special Guest Ethan of MakeMineAmalgamEarth of an unknown designation as seen in the Josie & The Pussycats (2001) FilmWe take our first trip to Riverdale to cover everyone's favorite all girl band, Josie and the Pussycats! We share a quick background on Archie Comics and Josie co-creator Dan DiCarlo and how it is still a family business. Rob shares his experience working on the Archie Broadway Musical and how he played a small role in bringing current Archie mastermind Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa into Riverdale. We start off with early Josie in the 1960s before jumping ahead to discuss special guest Ethan from MakeMineAmalgam's favorite film, Josie and the Pussycats from 2001 starring Rachel Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson, Tara Reid, Alan Cumming, Gabriel Mann, Paulo Costanzo, Missi Pyle and Parker Posey and written and directed by Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan (plus the great soundtrack by Adam Schlesinger, Adam Duritz, Jane Wiedlin, Anna Waronker, Babyface and more). In the very meta and satirical film, Josie and the Pusscats find themselves part of a global conspiracy to brainwash teens and turn them into consumerist zombies! We head back to comics with Josie's short lived revival in 2016 by Marguerite Bennett, Cameron DeOrdio, and Audrey Mok. We wrap up with some mixed reactions to an episode of Riverdale (directed by Robin Givens) that sees the return of the Pussycats. We also chat while Alexandra Cabot is the true start of the Josie-verse and could we possibly one day see a return of the Rachel Leigh Cook led version of the band. In this episode we dive into the Crossover Comic series by DC Comics and Marvel. Amalgam Comics.
And there came a day when the chips were down and the deck was stacked and the rain fell and fell. Widows wept and pulled their hair, wailing. We waited for the dust to settle. We waited for a champion to emerge. They never arrived. They never even wrote to say they'd be late. All we got were these hideous amalgamations, these blurred icons, these terrible nightmares breathing flame, kicking mud all over the barn doors. Thanks for everyone who made it this far. We hope you survive the experience. "Another small assurance that age and treachery will overcome youth and luck."

The duo fly home planning their next move. Meanwhile, Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Huntress, breaks into Logan's loft, tracking down leads to Creed H. Quinn, the Hyena. As she snoops through the loft, she comes across the greatest secret of all: the costumes of Dark Claw and thus his true identity. Before she can leave, Dark Claw enters through a passage way behind the closet and pins the Huntress to the ground. He is indeed Logan, a by product of an experiment that he and three others volunteered for, one of the others was his one time friend Creed H. Quinn. Dark Claw shows her the Barrow, his lair and center for his war on crime. This decision doesn't sit well with Sparrow at first, but soon the three begin looking for clues Hyena might have set back at the Gotham Gazette. They discover two clues, AF1 meaning Air Force One, and NaCN for Sodium Cyonide a deadly poison. The three head immediately to Air Force One, and arrive just as Hyena makes his move. With the gas filling the plane, Dark Claw corners his foe and cuts a whole in the plane, jettisoning Hyena, Dark Claw, and the gas. - via DC Wikia" SPIDER-BOY Spider-Boy is a super-hero in the Amalgam Universe.
