Thanks to our friend Dom we were able to have a cool conversation this week with Folk artist Daniel Keiser! As an artist with a lot to give through different means of expression we had a great time chatting with him about what he accomplished this past year. Primarily he described the recording and writing process for his band's latest offering titled “Miles” in which he also worked one on one with a poet to help craft the project's theme and narrative. This process also has helped in the crafting of their next album slated for a release in the next couple of months. On another creative endeavor Daniel is also a published author having written several children's stories which we thought was very cool. He talked about what writing books has done for him as another way to give back to others and to help inspire the next generation through thoughtful tales and life lessons alike. Thanks to Daniel for taking the time to join us and congratulations to him on putting himself out there in many inventive and effective ways!Tune into Anthony's Twitch stream every Tuesday at 6PM eastern time for in depth content ideas, strategies, music tips and more!

On this episode of Walk in Faith, Craig Syracusa is joined by Director Father Tom Gibbons and Producer Maria Elena Pineda to discuss their latest film, Hollywood Priest, the inspiring story of Father Bud Keiser. Hollywood Priest is an entertaining, provocative and nostalgic, award-winning documentary about a priest who found himself in a different field of ministry: the entertainment industry. The film is narrated by George Newbern (Scandal, Father of the Bride) and features interviews with Hollywood stars: Bob Newhart (Elf, Newhart), Martin Sheen (The West Wing, Apocalypse Now), Marion Ross (Happy Days), John Amos (Roots, Good Times), and Tim Matheson (Fletch, Animal House) to name a few. The movie follows Fr. Ellwood “Bud” Kieser, a Paulist priest who arrived in Los Angeles in 1957. In the 1960s and 70s, Fr. Bud was able to evangelize the culture through the national television series Insight, a show that featured the biggest stars in Hollywood.  But in 1980, when he encountered famine-stricken Africa through a trip with Catholic Relief Services, his ministry and his life-would take a dramatic turn. The movie does not shy away from the struggles and temptations in Fr. Bud's life, which makes him real and relatable and someone to encourage the people of the Church today to be a missionary at the center of public influence.  The nostalgic documentary airs on PBS WORLD this December:Wednesday, December 18 at 7 pm ET | 4 pm PT and 9 pm PTThursday, December 19 at Midnight and 8 am ET | 5 am PTTuesday, December 24 at 5 am ET | 2 am PTWednesday, December 25 at 11 am ET | 8 am PT

Menstrual health is not just a women's issue; it's a vital topic for everyone, and understanding it can significantly enhance gender equality and social justice. Danielle Keiser, a leading menstrual health educator, shares her journey and insights into how cultural shifts have influenced her mission. We discuss the importance of educating men about menstrual cycles and how this knowledge can foster empathy and support in relationships. With the launch of a new app aimed at helping dads and partners learn about menstrual health, Danielle emphasizes that this education can empower families and transform societal attitudes. Check out the show notes!Takeaways: Menstrual health is crucial for achieving gender equality and understanding societal dynamics. Educating men about menstrual health can foster empathy and improve relationships with women. Understanding the menstrual cycle can empower individuals to manage their health effectively and holistically. Periods and menstruation should be normalized as part of a broader human experience, not just a women's issue. Menstrual pain is often dismissed, yet it can indicate underlying health issues that require attention. Cultural perceptions of menstruation influence how individuals and families communicate about reproductive health. -----Support the Podcast: Click here to send in a one-time or monthly donationSubmit a Question: Click here to send in a question!Join the Podcast Mailing list: https://www.globalhealthpursuit.com/mailing-listMake sure to follow me on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook!Email me at hetal@globalhealthpursuit.com______ A huge thank you to Sparkle for sponsoring this episode!   Interviewer: Lisa Meeks Interviewees John Ruddell Jennifer Ruddell Roja (friend of Jack Ruddell) Dr. Stuart Slavin Dr. Christine Moutier Dr. Srijan Sen  Dr. David Muller  Dr. Justin Bullock Dr. Jessi Gold   Narrator Dr. Joseph Murray    Transcript   Keywords: Mental health, Medical training, Stress, Well-being, Jack Ruddell, Depression, Suicidality, Financial counseling, Career counseling, Transferable skills, Medical errors, Medical culture,  Opt-Out, Trust, Vulnerability, Open Discussions, Sharing Stories    Description In this episode, we address the urgent issue of suicidality in medical training, reflecting on the personal and systemic challenges that contribute to this crisis. Building on episodes 102, 103, and 104, we continue to explore the deep impact of these challenges.  We begin by examining the need to address both individual and systemic factors, emphasizing the importance of cultural shifts within medical environments and advocating for meaningful systems change. As the episode concludes, our experts highlight actionable steps medical schools can take to better support mental health, including fostering open dialogue, ensuring accessible resources, and creating a culture of vulnerability. In memory of Dr. Jack Rudell, we close with a piece of his music—a poignant reminder of the personal nature of this issue and the critical need to keep every trainee's light shining. Description of Series  DWDI Special Series: Suicidality in Medical Training dives into the critical conversations around mental health, well-being, support systems, and the intense pressures faced during medical training. Through the power of storytelling, the series intertwines these broader themes with the deeply personal story of Dr. Jack Ruddell, a promising medical student who tragically died by suicide. Jack's journey—his strengths, struggles, and the complexities leading to his untimely death—forms the emotional core of this five-part series, giving voice to the loved ones often excluded from these conversations. Alongside Jack's story, the series incorporates expert insights and data from the literature, offering a human perspective on burnout, depression, and suicide among medical trainees. With a commitment to improving mental health awareness and reducing the stigma around seeking help, the series presents a novel approach by centering personal narratives alongside expert analysis. It also explores actionable strategies for improving medical training environments and highlights the importance of institutional responses after a loss by suicide. Our mission is to reduce shame, encourage help-seeking among medical students struggling with depression, and ensure that every medical school is aware of the postvention resources offered by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
