Dr. Avantika Waring, the Chief Medical Officer at 9amHealth, provides end-to-end individualized cardiometabolic care to people with diabetes, pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. Their focus on metabolic health includes diagnostics, medications, nutrition services, coaching, and lifestyle support in a fun, engaging and non-judgemental manner. This comprehensive virtual healthcare model extends the opportunity for patients to get the support they need to manage these chronic conditions better. Avantika explains, "The mission behind our companies is to make high-quality, effective, and, importantly, kind care available to as many people as possible. We know that there are amazing clinicians out there, and there are patients who are super fortunate to be connected with them. But that's not everyone. There are a lot of barriers to getting access to that care, and we want to make sure that people can get access to the care that they need and that the experience is, might I say, as fun as possible for both the clinician and the patient." "We want things to be simple for patients, and we know that most people who have a cardiometabolic condition are likely to have more than one. Sometimes, two or three. So, our goal is to make the experience as simple and streamlined as possible for the members. So if they're coming to us with a glucose issue and need labs and medication for that, but they also need coaching on their diet for heart health and cholesterol, we want to offer them all that in one experience." #9amHealth #Diversity #Healthcare #HealthEquity #AsynchronousCare #CardiometabolicCare #MetabolicHealth #MedicationCosts2024 #DigitalHealth #EmployeeBenefits join9am.com Listen to the podcast here

We will be adding a second show each week - still here on the podcast, but called under the umbrella of "Advisors After Hours, On Air". The first show will drop on January 5, 2023. In the episode, we talked a lot about conversion of sales. How many leads became an actual client. How many times did you follow up? How often does curiosity lead to a booking? Friedrich Nietzsche's famous line - “And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” In today's episode, we'll be talking about improvisation in dance with Avantika Bahl. Avantika is a dance practitioner and educator based in Mumbai. As an artist, she works towards creating inclusive performances that can be accessed by a larger community. Over the past few years, her choreographic choices have brought diverse voices and experiences to the mainstream. She studied at the London Contemporary Dance School and completed the Curriculum-in-Motion program offered by Jacobs Pillow. Avantika has a Masters degree in English Literature and completed her Level 3 certification in Indian Sign language. Questions What according to you is improvisation? Where do we see it mostly happening? Is it seen in all creative endeavours? You have dabbled with silence, mundane chores, sometimes with just burst of sounds. What do you call your form of dance? Which category / genre does it belong? What does it mean to improvise in the context of dance? What guides improvisation for you - Body, Music, Theme, Story, Location or anything else? Traditionally dance (or most performing art forms) were considered to be performed effortlessly (Sahaj) and elegantly (simple). Does one need to know the rules to bend the rules? What does bending a rule mean? Improvisation? Your show “Say, What?” with a creative partner who is deaf. What is the extent of improvisation that a dancer can explore and still make it palatable? What the biggest challenge in experiments like these? You said, “We just have to be still and dance” - What do you mean? Tell us about your experience learning the Indian Sign language. How did it help? When and why do dancers improvise? When we fail or when we do something over and over again? Is it the boredom? Is it uncovering deeper layers as they keep performing or revisiting the movements? Is it that the medium falls short to express? Can improvisation be a starting point? Do smaller improvisations impulses land in changing the meta narrative? How does one come back to the main kathavastu / main narrative? May be you can explain in the context of “Look left, turn right”? What is the extent of improvisation when it comes to dance? Can you share any examples - names and artists who are doing and have done a lot in the past? What according to you is the future of dance and improvisation? I first met Avantika Daing, a General Partner & Managing Partner at Plum Alley Investments (and Tedx Speaker!) while she was onstage at an Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator event. She was there to share a bit about Plum Alley's Investment thesis as well as unpack six pitches live from early-stage companies. Let's level set a bit so you understand Avantika's and Plum Alley's mission, which revolves around an important number that hasn't moved much in years, despite a lot of effort - 2%. According to Pitchbook, in 2022, companies founded solely by women garnered just 2% of the total capital invested in VC-backed startups in the United States. Plum Alley only funds gender-diverse companies and works to create an ecosystem to help them not just get funded, but to grow and succeed. That's one of the reasons I wanted to bring Avantika on, to share some of her ways of thinking strategically about funding as an investor, how Plum Alley is working to create a more sustainable funding ecosystem for diverse founding teams, and how she coaches founders to be more strategic about funding, too. Watching Avantika on stage peel back the layers of the onion (one of her favorite metaphors!) on a company's story in conversation with a founder and work to understand the company's potential was fascinating - it's a tremendous act of intellectual rigor and curiosity. Her questions also reminded me that founders can make an investor's job a lot easier through more powerful and intentional storytelling. Another powerful metaphor that Avantika came back to in a number of pitches was the idea of a Basecamp. In other words, Avantika, as a funder, wants to know: Is your company building a core technology or defensible market position (a basecamp) that will provide you with multiple paths to success? Avantika acknowledged that a “single story” about how your company will “win” or “summit the mountain” is powerful, but she was clear that she prefers companies that are creating a powerful “basecamp”...why? Because:
This is part II of our conversation with Dr. Avantika Waring. Avantika is an Endocrinologist focusing on caring for people living with diabetes. She has worked with patients in various clinical settings for over 15 years and is currently the Chief Medical Officer at 9amHealth. Her clinical passion is the development of technology-enabled care delivery models that are equitable and culturally inclusive. She is originally from New Jersey but has lived on the west coast since 2009 and currently resides in Seattle, Washington. When she's not at work, you can find her on the soccer sidelines watching her three kids, running and hiking the nearby trails, and skiing local mountains in the winter. In part II, we dig deeper into several topics:Important aspects of nutrition counseling: rice, lentils, gheeThe extremely uncertain science of glycemic index when it comes to riceNot focusing on specific components of food but highlighting what people are eating and rebalancing rather than replacing food Beliefs around healthDecision-making with familyThe importance of assertiveness when giving health recommendations, shared decision making healthThe stigma around mental health, how to approach thatNext Steps:Review episode takeaways and a full transcript and visit the websiteFollow Raj on Twitter and follow his blog No-ParachutesEmail us at healthcareforhumans@yahoo.com
Prophecy Radio episode #56 talks about the Lotus Hotel & Casino, and all of the references and Easter eggs we might see in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV show. The hosts tackle all the latest news in the Riordanverse, including the Crown of Wishes adaptation, the Freedom Fire imprint, and yet another blog post from Rick Riordan, as well as a reread and discussion of Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian chapter 10. This book is really heating up, and we're only halfway through! New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:03:53) Read Riordan lets us know how we can win a wilderness survival competition with the Hunters of Artemis. Make sure you go follow Tehlor Kay Mejia on Instagram, as she is no longer on Twitter. Roshani Chokshi's A Crown of of Wishes is getting an adaptation on Disney+! It's pretty cool that the show's lead, Avantika, has ties to both Aryan Simhadri (Grover) and Charles Bushnell (Luke). This might even help pave the way for an Aru Shah adaptation! Kwame Mbalia gives everyone a pep talk for NaNoWriMo. Did you also hear the Kwame is heading up a new imprint for Disney Books, called Freedom Fire? Yeah, we're super excited about this. Lotus Hotel & Casino references and Easter eggs (00:12:04) Obviously a Nico and Bianca Easter egg is at the top of everyone's lists, but there's A LOT more Percy Jackson and the Olympians can do with this scene/episode. Obviously Karen's first choice is to put a Disney Hercules reference in the show somehow. Maybe the kids could be playing the Hercules Playstation game that came out way back in 1997? You can currently buy this game on Steam. Is anyone a fan? Kristen also had some ideas for what kind of Disney Easter eggs could end up in the show. We gotta get Finding Nemo or The Little Mermaid in there somehow. But what about Doctor Who!? That could actually make for a GREAT crossover/reference. And, of course, there's always Wreck-It-Ralph. Karen is definitely on board for the water theme—but she had an idea for what their rooms at the hotel could look like. Where would Grover and Annabeth stay? And how could we fit Oliver and Company into this world? We really couldn't pass up this opportunity to drop some movie references. Wouldn't it be cool if Logan Lerman or Alexandra Daddario showed up in the background as one of the adult characters in the hotel? It totally makes sense if the Lotus Hotel was hosting a convention that week! Really, though, Disney needs to hire us. We're so good at this. Poor Grover needs a Lotus Hotel & Casino redemption arc after what he went through in the movie. Some famous missing person HAS to show up at the hotel. It just makes so much sense! Book canon and show canon don't have to match exactly. Do we want the show to break the fourth wall at all? How cool would it be if this scene foreshadowed what would happen in Sea of Monsters aka Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2. How many classic videogames can they fit into this one scene!? What's more likely, a Kingdom Hearts or Dreamlight Valley reference? Just please, for the love of the gods, don't turn this into Ready Player One. Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian (00:38:37) This week, we're talking The Last Olympian chapter 10. Thank goodness Mrs. O'Leary didn't get put to sleep! Do we ever see the video shield again in the series? Where's the line between science and magic within this universe? What is Grover up to right now? Is he back at CBH? Should Annabeth have been the one to direct all the troops, considering she's a daughter of Athena? This is, like, a REAL war, you guys. Karen NEEDS that Death to Barbie t-shirt. Please give us a Thalia spinoff series!! Percy and Annabeth are such good people. How could you not love them!? These automatons are awesome and SCARY. The scene with the two rivers was pretty cool, but… Can someone please explain how the heck Percy knew what to do with the sand dollar? Percy's got a lot of baggage when it comes to the Minotaur, and we can't wait to see what happens next! Does it make sense that the demigods would be fighting for Olympus, specifically? Feedback (01:17:03) Shout-out to Phoebe for also thinking a Hercules reference would be perfect to see in the Lotus Hotel & Casino scenes. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 57, where we'll do a Deep Dive on Hermes (seriously, it's perfect timing). This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. One of the things I was most curious about when I started learning about animal consciousness and communication was how the animals felt about us, humans, consuming them and their by-products. In this episode, I (Avantika) share my thoughts on animal perspectives on our relationship with them as food. I share what I have learned, through my research and my own personal experience in communication with them. Humans can have a very special connection with animals, and this extends well beyond just our companion animals - we can also connect deeply with all animals we interact with, including the animals we consume. Animals have endless love and compassion for us, but are also aware of our human activity and how they are impacted by it. I talk about how mindfulness and gratitude can help us bridge this gap and allow us to connect more deeply to all the animals in our lives, especially the ones who sacrifice their lives for us. I also read aloud an excerpt from Dr. Linda Bender's book called Animal Wisdom - Learning from the Spiritual Lives of Animals. She talks about the prey/predator relationship and how animals perceive life and death, and human consumption of animals.Dr. Linda Bender was our guest in Episode 3. She is a Best Selling and Award Winning Author, Animal Advocate, Activist, Veterinarian and Spiritual Teacher around the World. Her work has been endorsed by Dr. Jane Goodall, Deepak Chopra , Dr. Larry Dossey, and many more. Dr. Bender has been featured in the Huffington Post, Natural Health magazine, Spirituality & Health magazine, Modern Dog, Elephant Journal, on Gaiam TV, Deepak Chopra's One World TV show, and many more media outlets. She lectures around the world advocating for animals and the conservation of their habitats. AVANTIKA BAKSHI (New Delhi, INDIA) For Avantika Bakshi it wasn't just divine intervention but an amalgamation of realizations that led to a rather unusual career path. It's never easy to give up a tried and tested path to chase what the heart desires. Avantika, a business school graduate, has always been inclined towards creative spaces, be it music, dance or performing on stage; she's always been on the lookout for doing something 'out of the box' knowingly or unknowingly. Her biggest decision was to move away from a comfortable routine to become an artist, producer and deejay. Her music is far more than what meets the ears, it is the physical presence of the woman behind the heavy electronic deck. The fearlessness that burns through her eyes, the energy that moves the audience, often orchestrated by her hands. But, the meteoric rise isn't only attributed to good fortune but to hard work and sincerity. The willingness to try new sounds and the ability to roll the dice, over and over again. Her mix sets are very expressive and promise to lead the listener through high-emotion quotient. The beats that find tunes in ones head on the drive to work, or the adrenaline that it provides to others in their moment of hysteria. There's a bit for all those listening, there always has been. Where does she get such philosophy from? Her deep and insightful readings of the Bhagwad Gita. The last year has seen her supporting some of the most respected names in the International dance music industry such as Alex Metric, Darius, 16 Bit Lolitas, Macromism, Dubspeeka, Uner, Sally Doolally, as well as local acts such as Kohra, Jitter, Ankytrixx, Praveen Achary, Bullzeye. She has also performed at the most sought after venues across India and made her debut at some of the most renowned festivals such as Sunburn, Krank, Ctrl Alt Dance & Blurr. She might have only arrived on the scene but there's little doubt that she's here to serve the people the music they desire, the sounds that move soul and body. This is Avantika. Deep, emotive, euphoric. Links: Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/ avantikabakshi Mixcloud: https://www.mixcloud.com/ avantikabakshi/ Mixcrate: http://www.mixcrate.com/

Is it ok to lie to help someone? I am not referring to the innocent lies we say when being asked, how do I look? How is the food? Am I growing fat? Amazon Prime commissioned OML to create 14 Stand-up specials last year. After a very good reception, this year we are seeing webseries created by stand-ups. One of the very successful stand-up special has been Zakir Khan's Haqse Single, Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare is created to capitalize on his popularity. Set in Indore around Ronnie (Zakir Khan), his two friends Anwar & Kranti and the love of his life Avantika. To create an impression on people, to get things done, he says that local MLA (Vidhayak) is his paternal uncle. This series is a fun journey of aimless wanderer Ronnie who is willing to do anything to help Avantika or others and how his actions get him into confrontation with the Vidhayak. Season 1 is used to set up Ronnie and it leaves us with interesting possibilities for season 2. This one reminded me of Kundan Shah and Shahrukh Khan's 90s movie Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na. AVANTIKA BAKSHI (New Delhi, INDIA) A shape-shifting mindset--her music is more than what meets the ears, it is also the woman behind the decks: sincere, spirited, fearless. Her mix sets are expressive expeditions, incorporating a variety of melodic flavors that create lasting emotional experiences for the listener. While she believes in genre bending, she enjoys playing deep house, tech-house, deep techno, nu-disco & indie dance. Taking divine inspiration from the Bhagwad Gita, her sound blends the east and west and makes the soul & feet dance alike. This is Avantika. Deep, emotive, euphoric.
