Send us a textAs promised, this week on episode #109 of "Fabulous Film & Friends we're going to weigh in on the two big ticket super hero extravaganzas from the Summer of 2025: James Gunn's Superman starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisando, Wendell Pierce, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Sara Sampaio and Nicholas Hoult up against The Fantastic Four: First Steps directed by Matt Shakman and starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Julia Garner and Ralph Ineson. Returning for yet another daringly detailed deep dive into the world of fantastical four colored fantasies is nephew to a comic bookstore Kingpin, author, teacher and hypnotherapist, Joe Field. Before we blast off into the Ultra-Negative Zone, the synopses: In 2025's Superman, it is 3 years into his mission and Earth's Champion, The Man of Steel has met his match in Lex Luthor who causes a distraction with a giant monster and breaks into Superman's secret Fortress of Solitude where he translates a message from Superman's parents in which they instruct their son Kal El –Superman's Kryptonian name-- to take over earth and spread his seed. Using this jarringly awkward info to turn public opinion against our hero, Luthor has also made a clone of Superman called Ultraman who continually batters and beats the Man of Steel into submission. On top of that, Luthor has a Pocket Universe where he jails his enemies including his ex-girlfriends. And Lex has Ultraman place Superman in a cage with another a super powered being named Metamorpho who can weaken Superman by turning his hands into Kryptonite. Ultimately, Luthor's cruelty overwhelms Metamorpho who helps Superman escape the pocket universe but it in doing so, the unstable dimensional rift threatens to swallow Earth. It is only with the help of scrappy reporter Lois Lane and a team of heroes called The Justice Gang that Superman that is able to beat Ultraman, Luthor and close the rift. There's also some political stuff going on with two made up countries going to War because of Luthor's manipulations. In The Fantastic Four: First Steps it has been four years since Reed Richards, Sue Storm, her brother Johnny and Ben Grimm were transformed by cosmic rays into the world's protectors, super stretchy genius Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and the rock man known as The Thing who are biggest celebrities on the planet. The exciting news that team leaders Reed Richards and Sue Storm are expecting their first child is put on the back burner by the arrival of the Silver Surfer the herald of the planet eating Celestial known as Galactus. Galactus tells the Fantastic Four that he will spare Earth in exchange for their yet unborn child, but that his too high a price to pay. With the public opinion against them, and world watching nervously, the team springs into action and devises a incredible plan to teleport planet earth into the far reaches of space. But then the Surfer and Galactus arrive and put the kabosh on the plan so the FF amends the plan to send Galactus himself into the far reaches of space, which seemed like the better strategy to begin with. So which movie was dumber and more suitable for booger eating six year olds? Find out!Watch to the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/cZCszsepEVM

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a 2025 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Fantastic Four. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series. The film was directed by Matt Shakman from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, and the team of Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. It features an ensemble cast including Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as the titular team, alongside Julia Garner, Sarah Niles, Mark Gatiss, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson. The film is set in the 1960s of a retro-futuristic world which the Fantastic Four must protect from the planet-devouring cosmic being Galactus (Ineson).20th Century Fox began work on a new Fantastic Four film following the failure of Fantastic Four (2015). After the studio was acquired by Disney in March 2019, control of the franchise was transferred to Marvel Studios, and a new film was announced that July. Jon Watts was set to direct in December 2020, but stepped down in April 2022. Shakman replaced him that September when Kaplan and Springer were working on the script. Casting began by early 2023, and Friedman joined in March to rewrite the script. The film is differentiated from previous Fantastic Four films by avoiding the team's origin story. Pearson joined to polish the script by mid-February 2024, when the main cast and the title The Fantastic Four were announced. The subtitle was added in July, when filming began. It took place until November 2024 at Pinewood Studios in England, and on location in England and Spain. The Fantastic Four: First Steps premiered at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on July 21, 2025, and was released in the United States on July 25, as the first film in Phase Six of the MCU. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and has grossed over $216 million worldwide. A sequel is in development.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59
The Fantastic Four finally arrive in the MCU... sort of? Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/the Thing must unite to save an alternate Earth from Ralph Ineson's Galactus and Julia Garner's Silver Surfer, but are their power's combined enough to set Marvel's Multiverse Saga back on track? When Marvel announced yet another Fantastic Four reboot, skepticism ran high. After all, the team has had a rocky cinematic history. But this fresh take on Marvel's First Family is a welcome surprise that breathes new life into these classic characters by skipping the tired origin story completely.Set in an alternate 1960s universe, we meet the team four years after gaining their powers. They're established heroes, scientists, and celebrities – complete with merchandise, branding, and public adoration. This lived-in world immediately feels more authentic than previous adaptations. The retro aesthetic perfectly captures the spirit of the original comics while giving the film a distinctive visual identity separate from the main MCU.What truly elevates this adaptation is the stellar cast and their genuine family chemistry. Pedro Pascal brings unexpected depth to Reed Richards, portraying him as a brilliant scientist whose analytical mind sometimes puts him at odds with his humanity. Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm emerges as the team's true leader – diplomatic, powerful, and the glue holding everyone together. Joseph Quinn reinvents Johnny Storm as more scientifically minded while maintaining his playful spirit, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Thing serves as the emotional anchor beyond just his super strength. The introduction of Franklin Richards creates genuine emotional stakes when Galactus threatens Earth. Ralph Ineson's terrifying vocal performance and the visualization of the planet-eater's enormous scale create a cosmic threat unlike anything in previous Marvel films. Meanwhile, Julia Garner's Silver Surfer brings fascinating complexity through her interactions with Johnny Storm. While the film emphasizes science and problem-solving over traditional superhero action (which might disappoint some viewers), it succeeds by presenting the Fantastic Four as scientists first and superheroes second. This approach, combined with Paul Walter Hauser's scene-stealing Mole Man and a tantalizing Doctor Doom tease, has reignited excitement for these characters' future in Marvel's cinematic landscape.Have you seen the Fantastic Four yet? The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a 2025 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Fantastic Four. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series. The film was directed by Matt Shakman from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. It features an ensemble cast including Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as the titular team, alongside Julia Garner, Sarah Niles, Mark Gatiss, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson. In the film, the Fantastic Four must protect their 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world from the planet-devouring cosmic being Galactus (Ineson).20th Century Fox began work on a new Fantastic Four film following the failure of Fantastic Four (2015). The subtitle was added in July, when filming began and lasted until November 2024 at Pinewood Studios in England, and on location in England and Spain. The Fantastic Four: First Steps premiered at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on July 21, 2025, and was released in the United States on July 25, as the first film in Phase Six of the MCU. The film received generally positive reviews from critics. A sequel is in development.

The Fantastic Four are finally back on the big screen, with Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps now out in theaters! It has been a nightmare watching some of my favorite characters in all of comics continuously get butchered in big screen adaptations, and Kevin Feige & Marvel Studios have been promising that they're finally gonna deliver a faithful adaptation of the Fantastic Four. The Fantastic Four have, truly, always been some of my favorite characters in Marvel Comics. From the Byrne run of the '80s to the Jonathan Hickman run, they've also had some of my favorite long runs in all of Marvel. Even the current Ryan North run is fantastic. But for so long, film adaptations have never really understood what made the team awesome. The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been, without question, my most anticipated MCU movie of this era because all the trailers have really teased that this film will finally deliver on the intimate family dynamics, old-school optimism and whacky sci-fi of the stories I grew up loving. And the fact that this felt like the most unique movie in the entire MCU, because of it's setting and decor, was just a bonus. So, does The Fantastic Four: First Steps mark the triumphant arrival of some of the MCU's most captivating new characters, or is it another Multiverse Saga dud? Find out in this NON-SPOILER review! The Fantastic Four: First Steps:Directed by: Matt ShakmanScreenplay by: Josh Friedman and Eric Pearson and Jeff Kaplan & Ian SpringerStory by: Eric Pearson and Jeff Kaplan & Ian Springer and Kat WoodBased on the Marvel comics by: Stan Lee and Jack KirbyProduced by: Kevin FeigeCo-Producer: Mitch BellExecutive Producers: Louis D'Esposito, Grant Curtis, Tim LewisMusic by: Michael GiacchinoDirector of Photography: Jess HallEdited by: Nona Khodai, Tim RocheCasting by: Sarah FinnProduction Design by: Kasra FarahaniCostume Design by: Alexandra ByrneCast: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, Sarah NilesSynopsis: Against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel's First Family is forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, while defending Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!This week Pip is joined by Leeds acting legend RALPH INESON!We join Ralph in that limbo state of him being wrapped on a film but us, the public, having not yet seen it (at time of broadcast) - but playing the role of Galactus must be quite a trip, and certainly quite a height to come back down to Earth from. Thankfully Ralph is a delightful blend of proud but also humble, and we get to hear a perfect collage of tales from his career. From the early days of wokring as security to being a teacher and then - with echoes of Ed Skrein's past mantra - someone saying "Why the f•ck not?" in regards to whether or not he should give acting a shot... We also get to hear about the conflicts of playing, or maybe rather being associated with 'Finchy' from The Office, the strangeness of being part of the MCU which already has a very dedicated fanbase, and his 25 year old son leading the bootcamp for him in the MCU too. There's also the uniquely strange experience of playing Galactus and how that whole thing worked - but this is all for you to enjoy...! Do not adjust your speakers, or your headphones. Yes, Ralph Ineson's voice really is that deep and sonorous. And in this week's Empire Podcast, Chris Hewitt sits down with the actor who plays the planet-eating entity, Galactus, in next week's The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and talks about how his voice is his passport. [1:04:38 - 1:20:16 approx] Elsewhere, Chris also has an engrossing chat with Repo Man and Walker director Alex Cox about his days hosting BBC 2's much-missed cinematic gateway, Moviedrome. [30:44 - 44:01 approx] And then Chris is joined in the podbooth by Helen O'Hara and John Nugent to discuss Rachel Zegler in Evita at the London Palladium, chat about the week's movie news, review Friendship, Smurfs, and Four Letters Of Love and, in a lengthier than usual listener question section, programme their ultimate music festival of fictional movie bands. Oh, and Chris coins a nickname for a highly-respected and beloved director. Enjoy.
