It was just announced that Utah Goalie Connor Ingram won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The award honors the late Bill Masterton and recognizes the NHL player who “best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.”  During the interview, Ingram talked with host Jay Stevens about his battle with OCD and depression and how the NHLPA helped him see it through.  If you or someone you know is experiencing mental health issues, there is help available at the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline or by calling 988. NHL Hockey is a fast, high impact, and sometimes violent sport. So, you may be surprised to learn that only one hockey player has ever died as a direct result of the game. In 1968 Bill Masterton became the only NHL player to date to die as the result of injuries suffered during a game. His death eventually lead to rule changes but they were not quick in coming. This is the story of the death of Bill Masterton, one of the 100 darkest moments in pop culture history.

Jeff Glass joins 6DMM and tells his wild story of how after 4 seasons in North America, 7 seasons in Russia, and another 1.5 seasons in the AHL, he won his first NHL start for the Chicago Blackhawks as a 32 year old rookie. His success and dedication led to Jeff being nominated for the Bill Masterton trophy. Also included is lots of gear talk, getting a dog in and out of Russia, and the road less traveled.
