This week, we celebrate two decades of fun in the sun as we look back at the design and development of Disney California Adventure in the week of its 20th anniversary with former Imagineer Tim Delaney, who was creative director and show producer for Paradise Pier and the main entrance of the park. Tim shares many stories from his career with WED Enterprises and Imagineering, including his time working on EPCOT Center, working for the company when Michael Eisner became CEO of the Walt Disney Company, and his work on Disney's California Adventure Park. We look at an overview of the park and discuss the budgeting challenges Imagineering faced, the theming of the park, the design of the entrance plaza and California Screamin', and the changes that have happened at the Disneyland Resort over the years.

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Join John B. deHaas and me as we 'Dash' off to Disney California Adventure and experience the newly retimed Incredicoaster! Recorded on July 27, 2018. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode, we head back to Disney California Adventure and check out the newly rethemed Incredicoaster. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction by saying, “Buckle up for an exhilarating ride into the world of The Incredibles on this newly re-imagined attraction!” Guests must be 48” or taller to ride this attraction and Fastpass and single rider is available. The Thrill Level describes the attraction as being a Thrill Ride that is Loud with Big Drops. Before we Dash off to ride it, here are five fast facts about The Incredicoaster. 1. On November 2, 2017, Disney announced a renovation of Paradise Pier that would turn it into Pixar Pier. The area’s signature attraction, California Screamin’ would close down on January 8, 2018 and reopen as Incredicoaster on June 23rd, 2018. 2. The Incredicoaster is not merely a roller coaster, it does have a storyline. Taking place after the events of Incredibles 2, the Parr Family gets a roller coaster named after them. Edna Mode agrees to watch baby Jack-Jack because both of them are too short to ride the attraction, but Jack-Jack escapes as the ride takes off and the Incredibles must work together to reign in his chaos. 3. The figure of Mrs. Incredible aka Elastigirl that appears the second tube of the ride measures 53 feet from head to toe. 4. A total of 19 figures of Jack Jack appear throughout the ride. 5. Michael Giacchino, who scored both Incredibles films created the music used on The Incredicoaster and in the queue area of the attraction. Let’s get set to save the day with the Incredibles. Along for the ride is John B. deHaas and, seeing as this was both of our first times on this attraction, we’ll give you our initial thoughts after the ride audio. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we are about to experience, The Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure. It's a really special week here at CoasterRadio.com! Not only are we welcoming a brand new baby girl into the family, we are also getting a chance to interview Disney Imagineer Tracey Noce who was the Creative Director for "Incredicoaster" and the Incredibles Park area of Pixar Pier, which opened in June at Disney California Adventure! Tracey tells us what it was like to re-imagine an iconic attraction like "California Screamin'." She also tells us some behind the scenes stories about the different special effects and what it's like to add design elements to such a large (and fast) attraction.
Avast there! Come join the backlotboys in our Disney podcast as we recall the good, the bad, and the absolutely ATROCIOUS aspects of your favorite seaside area, Paradise Pier at Disney's California Adventure Park. Over at Disney Imagineering in Glendale, they've been busy conceptualizing and are now physically prepping the pier for its re-skinned, Pixar-washed debut as Pixar Pier. But before the walls come down and The Incredibles eat those Adorable Snowman edibles, let's remember... Let's remember a simpler time, when the likes of the Maliboomer, California Screamin', and yes, your favorite Disney nighttime show, LuminAria occupied the cement seaside of Paradise Pier. So whether you are excited to see King Triton get the boot, or are shedding crocodile tears at the departure of the Cove Bar, sit back, relax, and enjoy the podcast!
Hey, screamers! In today's podcast episode, we'll take a virtual ride on California Screamin over at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort. Hey Everyone! Welcome to the first episode of Boardwalk Talk for 2018! It’s going to be a fantastic year for the show, and we can’t wait to show you what’s in store! On this week’s episode, we start by discussing some of the recent closures at the Disney Parks, including one of our favorite Disney coasters, California Screamin’, which closed on January 8th, 2018. Then, to learn from the past, we look at some of the Disney Duds that, in their short run-times, showed some of the lowest points in WDI history. To those who have read Marty Sklar’s One Little Spark, our topic is very similar to the Goofy Awards given to attractions that failed to live up to WDI’s standards. Thanks for listening, and have a magical week! Ryan Dorman is a Columnist and Content Director for the Boardwalk Times. He

The original theme park podcast is back with a brand new episode! Back in 1954, Walt Disney had a weekly television show on the ABC Network where he unveiled his plans for Disneyland. Not only did it help finance his park, but it also got people all over the country excited to make the trip to California to see it in person. This week, EB and Mike talk about whether not it would be a good idea to bring this style of TV show back to television. What would a show like this look like? What parks could you broadcast from? Would anyone watch? The guys also take a look at a video showing what Six Flags New Orleans looks like five years after Hurricane Katrina. They talk about what it would take to get them to set foot on the property and why we're fascinated by videos like this. There's also news with The Neil Patrick Harris Project. This week, it was announced that NPH is the new "Launch Voice" behind California Screamin' at Disneyland! The guys also announce a holiday project where listeners can help get the attention of Mr. Harris. Plus, you'll hear a live trip report from EPCOT's World Showcase and the story of Mike's failed attempt to get to Disneyland last weekend! It's all on this week's new episode of CoasterRadio.com!

(((HEADPHONES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED))) In this episode, the Mouse Lounge takes in a languorous, lazy summer day…at 55 miles per hour of course. Each week, in From the Vault we sample a clip from a classic Disney film, short, television or radio program, or Disneyland Record. In 1963 Walt Disney Productions released the feature film Summer Magic, starring Hayley Mills, Burl Ives, and Dorothy McGuire in a story about a Boston widow and her children taking up residence in a small town in Maine. The film was based on the book "Mother Carey's Chickens" by Kate Douglas Wiggin. The film was Mills' fourth of six films for Disney, and the young actress received a Golden Globe nomination for her work. The soundtrack from the picture yielded some very good songs, including the Richard Sherman composition, the Ugly Bug Ball; which went on to be a popular song that year. Two other cuts on the record however will be of interest to Disney Park fans. Flitterin’ and Beautiful Beulah can often be heard in instrumental form as you stroll down Main Street USA. Now have a listen to these familiar melodies, complete with their original lyrics. From the Walt Disney Archives: On the evening of June 25th, D23 members gathered at the Walt Disney Theater on the Disney Studios lot in Burbank to witness a once in a lifetime event. Dave Smith, Chief Archivist for the Walt Disney Company celebrated his and it’s 40th anniversary! While tinged with just the slightest bit of sadness with the fresh reveal Dave will be retiring in October; the evening was a celebration in the truest sense. Disney luminaries such as CEO Bob Iger, composer Richard Sherman, and Imagineers Tony Baxter and Bob Gurr, were in attendance. Leonard Maltin interviewed Dave during the occasion. We present the entirety of that interview here. Each week we present a high definition ride-through from a Disney Park East or a Disney Park West. This week, summer isn’t complete without the rush of a roller coaster and fireworks. In DCA’s Paradise Pier, take a ride on California Screamin’! Then, let’s cross the esplanade and take in Magical!, Disney’s Nightastic fireworks spectacular. This is a Mouse Lounge Re-mix, so should be extra fun with the sounds of a very enthusiastic summer crowd in the background.
