While Quebec was slow to enter and embrace the haze game, they've delivered on a level that has made the province some of the best producers of the style in the country. Montreal's Messorem Bracitorium opened in the summer of 2019 and the fanfare was immediate - clearly the hazeboiz and hazegirlz were ready for something local that paralleled their US faves. Co-Founder and Graphic Designer Marc-André joined Cee and Nate to chat about what's been happening since Messo's last podcast appearance in early 2020, how their lager program has become a massive part of the business, why their attention to detail has made them who they are, the pushback they received from local breweries, how important their merch has been to the brand, how they've upgraded their space and created one of the best patios in the city, and how they've been building their name internationally via collabs and festivals. They got into Il Fut Un Temps: Indulgent Mexican Lager, Il Était Une Fois : Sécheresse Helles Lager, Destin Certain IPA, and Temporalis #0017 Double IPA. Such a fire chat - cheers! The most epic podcast of all time was our first episode with (arguably) the most hyped brewery in Ontario, Third Moon, back in October of 2020. That episode came in at around 4 hours and 40 minutes, and Co-Founder Chris gave us a memorable tour of his incredible beer basement. We finally had them back on, and you already know we had to break some records. Landing at just over 5 hours, Bebo and Chris hung out with Cee and Nate to catch up on all things Third Moon since 2020, they dug into some newer styles that they've been doing (lagers, smoothies), their brewery and team expansion, how their barrel program has grown, the insane power of Untappd over the craft beer business, their approach to packaging, and they touched on the Ontario beer taxation issue. They cracked six absolute gems - Kills Pilsner, Rise Pale Ale, Midnight Kills Dark Lager, Love Lies Bleeding (Bulldog Comet), Barrel-Aged Kills (2023), and Quintuple Bone Tree IPA, fondly known as Quincy Bones. Epic af as always - we hope you make it through! BAOS Podcast Subscribe to the podcast on YouTube | Website | Theme tune: Cee - BrewHeads
It's our favourite time of the year... Looking back at the year that was is always a blast, so when Cee and Nate got together to select, chat about and, of course, drink beers from their favourite breweries in 2023, they knew it was about to go down. Twenty-twenty-three was a spectacular year for Ontario craft beer, with some phenomenal new breweries opening their doors, some legendary breweries saying goodbye, and there were even some breweries that had been around a while but were new to BAOS. We announced our Brewery of the Year, too, which was a first for this amazing company. No spoilers here, just watch or listen and enjoy some Ontario craft beer. Cheers! Kingston, ON has a fantastically bright craft beer scene, and no brewery has taken that more literally than Daft. Co-Founder Adam and brewer Rich joined Cee and Nate to chat about what's changed since we spoke to them last in late 2021, the move to cans from bottles, aging their dark beers, how amazing West Coast IPAs are, where the Kingston beer scene is at, the challenges of distributing beer, their LCBO switch out, and some of the stories behind their beer names. They got into a gang of Daft brews, including Barenaked Light Lager, Thirst Trap DDH IPA, Day Off Strawberry, Peach & Cream IPA, Throwing Shade Black Lager, Down By The River West Coast IPA, and Dad Bod DIPA. This was super fun, cheers! BAOS Podcast Subscribe to the podcast on YouTube | Website | Theme tune: Cee - BrewHeads

For almost 40 years, Guelph's Wellington Brewery has kept Ontarians fuelled with fine English-style beer, and it was well overdue to have the legends on the pod. Karyn and Wilma joined Cee and Nate to chat about Welly's humble beginnings in the early '80s, how they've pivoted and grown over the years, the changes they've seen in the scene in their time at Welly, their exciting move into Sparkling Hop Water, their cask brews, how their Helles Lager marked a new era for the brewery, their early move into haze with Upside, and how their Queen of Craft festival has grown. We crushed a wicked lineup of Welly beers - Boot Lite, Helles Lager, Upside NEIPA, Sunshine, Special Pale Ale and Imperial Stout. This was a fantastic one, cheers! Cambridge, ON is home to some phenomenal breweries, and one of the newest, Farm League, has some big shoes to fill. Taking over the old Grand River location, they've turned a legendary brewery into something that truly reflects who they are and what they bring to the scene. Co-Founders Matt and Mike join Cee and Nate to chat about their interest in some of the less popular styles, what it was like to open a brewery mid-pandemic, some of their big collabs, their Meadows Music Festival on June 2nd and 3rd, and their plans for the future. We got into four of their crackin' brews - Hauler Lager, Big Ticket Kölsch, What Feeling Good Feels Like Hefeweizen, and Galt Red Amber Ale. This was a great one, cheers! Week 4 of Link Up Series 4 brings us back to Toronto, ON with our first ever Black-owned brewery collaboration - Mascot Brewery! Founder Aaron Prothro joined Tiff and Cee to chat about the challenges of being a BIPOC craft brewery owner (and the first Black-owned brewery in Canada), the importance of standing for something as a business, how to interview for a diverse workforce, why putting himself out there as the face of the business resulted in a lot of success, their Black-owned brewery US collabs, and making moves south of the border. We crushed their fantastic Link Up Rye IPA with Mosaic and Simcoe, available now from the brewery. Cheers! Founder Jonathan Laurencic joins Tiff and Cee to chat about the challenges of finding diversity in small cities, how tourism is helping diversity in Elora, how they target larger nearby cities to tap into their diverse talent base, and how meeting people at their comfort zone with things like language can change the game. We drank their fantastic 3% Link Up English Mild Ale, full of caramel and toffee notes, and it's insanely crushable. A fantastic conversation, enjoy! Founder Gavin Anderson joins Cee and Nathan from NathanDoesBeer to chat about the growth of the craft beer scene and industry in London, why brown ales aren't popular these days (but are so fire), how their beers have evolved over the years, their approach to their seasonal beers, which styles are gateway beers, the value of short cans, and the disturbing lack of prevalence of West Coast IPAs. This week, the guys get blessed by the presence of Luke Pestl. Luke owns what many would say is the best brewery in Canada and it was a blast talking to him, particularly on our home turf in Milo. After addressing the obvious question of how he wound up in Piscataquis County with his wife and three children, we get into a wide variety of topics like his history in beer, Bellwood's philosophy. and what makes Canadian beer culture unique. Luke shares a ton of insight on the value of food in a brewery, maintaining company culture, and grinding to become the best beer maker in the world. The fact that he does this all so well in the face of Noah's excessive use of the word "kinda" and Matt's even more excessive Drake questions is a true miracle.

This was a fascinating conversation with two highly regarded members of the brewing industry, and we'd love to hear your thoughts on where this is all going.
