When Veronica suffered a life-threatening bowel obstruction, she was told she had just hours to reach the specialist care she needed to save her life. From the outside, Veronica Croser appears to be a fit and active young Mum with a passion for adventure. If you met her on one of the many remote hiking trails she enjoys exploring, you probably wouldn't be surprised that this active rural woman also volunteers as a local firefighter for her SA community of Bordertown. But what might surprise you is what's been happening INSIDE Veronica Croser. This dynamic rural woman has spent a lifetime dealing with the often debilitating and almost always painful effects of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and it's even more complex cousin, Chrones disease. Yet against all odds – and in much the same way she has successfully tackled some of Australia's most remote bushland tracks and mountain walks - Veronica has tackled her ill-health with an incredible combination of inner strength, self-determination and incredible courage. Veronica Croser is living proof that you can't always judge a book by its cover. ***Thanks so much for listening to this episode of the Flying Doctor Podcast. 1/ Arch / Vijay Iyer / album Compassion (2024) / 06.00 2/ Triptyques 1.2 / Spëcht / album Triptyques (2024) / 04.05 3/ Underground Dance / Annie Chen / album Guardians (2024) / 06.20 4/ Terre Lune / Yannick Benoit / album Le Repère (2024) / 05.40 5/ Virgo / Umlaut Big Band / album Zodiac (2023) / 04.30 6/ Nusrat / Dan Weiss / album Even Odds (2024) / 03.40 7/ Lullaby for Freedom / Pierre-François Blanchard / album Puzzled (2024) / 04.00 8/ Oh Why (That's Why) / Monty Alexander / album D Day (2024) / 06.30 9/ Espiègle / CHRONES / album ZONE (2024) / 03.20 10/ Contagious / Staircase Paradox / album Francs Tireurs (2024) / 03.50 11/ Hunt / Joachim Govin / album Tree Vol. 2 (2024) / 04.20 12/ Tarmac / Sylvain Beuf / album Long Distance (2024) / 06.20Hébergé par Ausha. Dan Weiss a joué notamment auprès de Lee Konitz, Chris Potter, Sylvie Courvoisier, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Linda May Han Oh, John Zorn. On pourrait s'écrier « Aux abris !

In this episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast, we talk with Henry Howard, who interviewed us for his running blog a while black. This episode is a little different, as he is not fully plant-based. Henry has been researching the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle for a long time and is still working his way to becoming 100%. We thought it would be interesting for those who are not quite there yet as well to hear about what challenges he has and get some advice on how to address that. He also shares his Chrones, Celiac and running journey and how diet has played a factor in that.  Henry Howard began his running journey in 2011 when he wanted to accomplish a bucket-list goal: finish a marathon. During his first run of 1.5 miles, he stopped three times, puked in the driveway and thought he was going to die. He did finish that marathon 18 months later, and since then has completed 20 marathons, qualified for and run the Boston Marathon, and finished eight ultra marathons. Along this journey, Henry has gone from a typical Western diet to a plant-based lifestyle that is somewhere between vegan and pescatarian but always gluten-free. Now at age 50, he has never been in better shape in his life, as he trains for his first 100-mile race this fall. At the same time, Henry has also become a certified running coach and trains athletes to meet their goals. He also writes about inspiring athletes, share his journey and reviews running gear at his website, RunSpirited.com. In this episode we discuss: Community  Social media positive and negative  Running, recovery and training  Sons being diagnosed with celiac disease  Plant-based journey  Breaking down the challenges of going 100% Breakfast in hotels  What foods work before and after your races  Carb loading- yay or nay? Dr. Joe Tafur has a unique story. While in medical school, in the midst of a low-point in his emotional life, he encountered the world of plant medicines through Peyote (and subsequently Ayahuasca) and found a whole other world-view of healing. After finishing medical school, he split his time between studying plant medicines in the jungle of Peru and practicing medicine in the United States. He is now a shaman, an author, and a doctor, sharing a unique view of healing that encompasses the physical along with the spiritual. Joe's book, The Fellowship Of The River tells Joe's story along with other stories of shamans clearing up conditions like Chrones, Diabetes, Psoriasis, Addiction, and Trauma with plant medicines. He eloquently describes the methods shaman's use, and what parts of the body are being affected. Healing occurs at the level of DNA and epigenetics.
