I believe that there's plenty for everybody.Revitalizing neighborhoods isn't just about beautification; it's about inclusion. Muna Phometsi, President of Strategic Projects Capital LLC, exemplifies this ethos with her groundbreaking project, The Swank Atlanta. Situated in Reynoldstown, this luxury development combines upscale design with an innovative crowdfunded investment model, ensuring that people from all income brackets can share in its success. The Swank Atlanta represents more than luxury living. Muna shared her passion for the project, saying, “We believe that the community should not only benefit from revitalization but also participate in the potential profit.” This principle of inclusion underscores her commitment to building a project where economic and social impacts intersect.Located just a three-minute walk from the Atlanta Beltline, The Swank Atlanta provides easy access to parks, trails, and restaurants, enhancing the neighborhood's appeal. Muna emphasized the area's diverse, tight-knit community, noting that her team engaged with residents to understand and complement their vision. “This was a sore eye to the community,” she explained. “We wanted to bring something beautiful to complement what's going on in the area.”As a seasoned real estate developer, Muna brings two decades of experience to this project, working alongside her husband, an architect with similar expertise. Their approach to development is guided by a philosophy of sharing knowledge and opportunities. “We've never been people that hold information to ourselves. What we know, we want you to know because we believe that there's so much for everybody.”The Swank Atlanta is currently raising funds through Small Change, a regulated investment crowdfunding platform. This effort not only reflects Muna's vision of community empowerment but also paves the way for similar projects across the East Coast and beyond.Muna's innovative approach is a model for leveraging development to create social and financial value, ensuring that everyone has a stake in building better communities.tl;dr:* Muna Phometsi shares her vision for The Swank Atlanta, a crowdfunded luxury redevelopment project.* The project emphasizes inclusivity by enabling middle-class and lower-income investors to participate meaningfully.* Muna highlights Reynoldstown's rich history and community-driven revitalization as central to the development.* Her superpower, empowering and sharing, drives her passion for helping others achieve financial growth.* Muna offers practical tips for creating impact through real estate development and community involvement. How to Develop Empowering and Sharing As a SuperpowerMuna's superpower lies in her unwavering commitment to empowering others by sharing knowledge and opportunities. She believes that by spreading what she has learned, she can inspire others to achieve their dreams, creating a ripple effect of growth and success within communities.Muna shared an inspiring example from her current project, The Swank Atlanta, a crowdfunded luxury development. She explained how the project allows individuals, including those from middle-class and lower-income brackets, to invest in a high-end real estate project—a rare opportunity. Additionally, Muna described helping a former classmate with a construction business, leveraging her husband's expertise as a contractor to guide him toward success. Both instances reflect her drive to empower others by sharing knowledge and creating inclusive opportunities.Tips for Developing the Superpower:* Listen Actively: Pay attention to people's concerns, aspirations, and challenges. Look for cues that indicate areas where you can help.* Identify Opportunities: Be proactive in suggesting solutions or sharing resources that align with others' goals or problems.* Be Willing to Teach: Share your knowledge openly and authentically. Recognize that even small insights can make a big difference.* Foster Inclusion: Create avenues for people from all backgrounds to participate in opportunities, as Muna does with her crowdfunding initiatives.* Adopt a Learning Mindset: Continuously expand your own knowledge so you can provide valuable insights to others.By following Muna's example and advice, you can make empowering and sharing a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. Recent awards and residencies include The SIM Residency in Iceland, The Pilchuck Glass School Scholarship, and The Nextfab Fellowship. Laura is currently preparing for a two person show at Works on Paper Gallery in Philadelphia. "Without light we can't see matter—inversely, without matter we can't see light. This interdependent relationship is the crux of my practice. I'm interested in colloquial references to light as a fleeting presence—a shadow appears, the sun sets, a beam of light enters the room. In reality, we know that light is the constant and we are the variable—it's our physical world that is shifting, our planet that is rotating, our galaxy that is hurling through space. I observe these paradoxical understandings of the world and emphasize our skewed perception of light by capturing moments of flux. Using glass, silver, and mixed media, I investigate the link between light and matter. Integrating scientific and intuitive processes, I create evocative gestural works that walk the line between image and object. Rather than rendering light, I rely on its interaction with opaque and translucent shapes and textures to capture the ephemeral. Paying homage to the fickleness of memory, I indiscriminately excavate large portions of a composition through hand-cut elimination and rely on suggestive remains."   LINKS:  laurasallade.com   @laura.sallade   https://www.masseyklein.com/       Artist Shout Out:      https://www.alisonstigora.com/ https://www.leighsuggs.com/ https://www.kristadedricklai.com/ https://www.heathermcmordie.com/ https://www.cameronwilsonritcher.com/     I Like Your Work Links: Check out our sponsor for this episode: The Sunlight Podcast: Hannah Cole, the artist/tax pro who sponsors I Like Your Work, has launched Business Deduction Deep Dive:  For artists and self-employed creatives. and is everything you need to know about self-employed tax deductions. The apprentices are a valued part of our team and many of them choose to continue working with us, once the programme is finished and they are fully accredited craftspeople. "Each year, we look for candidates who are enthusiastic, eager to learn and want to work in a team environment. The programme would suit anyone interested in STEM subjects in school. Someone who is curious, likes to solve problems, and has a flair for engineering, science and machinery." For the duration of the programme, an apprentice's time is divided between the Cork site, training centres and third-level universities, where they complete on-the-job training and the SOLAS curriculum modules. Each apprentice is paid a salary for the duration of the apprenticeship programme. On successful completion of the internationally recognised apprenticeship (Level 6 Advanced Certificate), each apprentice is eligible for consideration for entry into a related Level 7 and 8 Degree programmes provided by the universities. Sarah Aherne, who is currently in her first year of the Electrical and Instrumentation apprenticeship programme at Thermo Fisher, said: "I chose an apprenticeship after school as I am a hands-on learner. The apprenticeship allows me to develop technical skills and put them into practice every day, and then learn the theory during the college time built into the programme." "No two days are the same on site and it's great to know that I'm contributing to the delivery of life-saving medicines." Thermo Fisher Scientific's Cork campus is an active pharmaceutical ingredient development and manufacturing site and is part of its Pharma Services business. The team is expert in taking chemistry from laboratory scale development through to clinical and large-scale commercial manufacturing. This week on the Coaching Studio, I am happy to introduce you to Georgina Woudstra, MCC. This conversation centers around Coaching teams, not facilitating or advising teams, but using your coaching presence and curiosity to hold the space to support teams to self-discovery. It's an important and powerful distinction. Team coaching, with a capital C, is coaching at the heart and lends itself to Teams having insights and agency.Georgina shares how to stay a coach and empower teams. Team coaching takes a coach able to hold space. Remembering that there is Self, Team, and Situation. Georgina says, "I'm going to say it depends on the SPF because every team is different. Different sizes, contexts, lengths of programs, and levels of maturity. So my answer here is, in an ideal scenario, with a team that can hold it, and you may need to do more work to get the team to that place. But ideally, we mess around with the process as little as possible. See, the moment we facilitate breaking into small groups, and bring them back together, that's facilitating. They're not managing their own process. Right, but if the only invitation is to talk amongst yourselves for ten minutes, then you see, and they get to see how they self-organize. And, um, that's when the learning happens, not when we organize for them. Otherwise, they need us with them organizing their process. So if we get out of the way, the system will reveal itself good, bad, or indifferent."Georgina Woudstra is much more than an executive coach. She is a chief executive coach with more than 30 years of experience and a proven track record in coaching CEOs, executive boards, senior leaders, and top teams. She specializes in coaching new and established CEOs as well as CEOs in the making. Georgina is one of the leading lights globally in team coaching. In this episode of Telaid Tech Connect, host Beth Bergmann has a conversation with Susan Sly, co-founder of Radius AI, about human-centric AI and the future for AI in retail. They explore use cases for AI as well as what the technology looks like today versus what it may look like in the future.   IN THIS EPISODE:    [2:57] What is AI and what isn't it? [6:39] What is human-centric AI?   [12:45] What does the art of AI mean to Radius AI and to the industry?  [16:23] What is the potential for sentient AI in the future?  [17:50] How are the savviest retailers who are deploying AI looking at the big picture? What differentiates the first movers in the industry? [24:14] What do the next few years have in store for AI in retail?    KEY TAKEAWAYS:    There are three key types of AI right now: Text AI – Can process documentation faster than humans Language AI – Can process auditory language like Siri or Alexa Computer vision – Can process visual data, able to filter video and point humans to the relevant portions Human-centric AI is AI that is designed to empower humans. Some things people do better than AI, for example, understanding the context for why someone might be on the ground. AI does a better job of flagging the fact that someone is now on the ground. AI and humans working together experience optimal results.  Sentient AI can “think for itself.” However, that AI has to receive training from somewhere. Many of the beneficial applications for sentient AI coming in the near future may be companion care, whether for pets or the elderly. An AI-based companion may be able to provide early diagnosis of a parent with Alzheimer's, for example.  A recent study indicated that 54% of AI pilots go to production, up from 8% in recent years. Retailers can increase that number by aligning with qualified partners who have vetted providers and who can help them pilot projects prior to large scale rollout.  AI enablement for customer experience may include something like customers opting into facial recognition so when they show up in a store to shop, an associate can bring them their favorite beverage or they can receive a notification that there are new items from their favorite brand in store and here's a map to locate those items. The retailers who experiment early and pioneer new use cases are going to be the winners.    LINKS MENTIONED    Radius AI   LinkedIn – Susan Sly   BIO:    Susan Sly is a tech investor, co-founder, best-selling author, keynote speaker, entrepreneur and podcast host of Raw and Real Entrepreneurship. The transcript for this episode is available here. About Molly Joyce Composer and performer Molly Joyce has been deemed one of the "most versatile, prolific and intriguing composers working under the vast new-music dome" by The Washington Post. Her music has additionally been described as "serene power" (New York Times), written to "superb effect" (The Wire), and "unwavering" and "enveloping" (Vulture). Her work is concerned with disability as a creative source. She has an impaired left hand from a previous car accident. The primary vehicle in her pursuit is her electric vintage toy organ, an instrument she bought on eBay that suits her body and engages her disability on a compositional and performative level. Her debut full-length album, Breaking and Entering, featuring toy organ, voice, and electronic sampling of both sources was released in June 2020 on New Amsterdam Records, and has been praised by New Sounds as "a powerful response to something (namely, physical disability of any kind) that is still too often stigmatized, but that Joyce has used as a creative prompt." Molly is a graduate of The Juilliard School (graduating with scholastic distinction), Royal Conservatory in The Hague (recipient of the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund Grant), and Yale School of Music. She holds an Advanced Certificate in Disability Studies from CUNY School of Professional Studies and is an alumnus of the National YoungArts Foundation. She has studied with Samuel Adler, Martin Bresnick, Guus Janssen, David Lang, Missy Mazzoli, Martijn Padding, Christopher Theofanidis, and has served on the composition faculty of New York University, Wagner College, and Berklee Online, teaching subjects including Disability and the Arts, Music Technology, Music Theory, and Orchestration. She is currently a Dean's Doctoral Fellow at the University of Virginia, focusing on Composition and Computer Technologies. Time Management Workshop About Molly: Molly Noerenberg is a life and embodiment coach for performing artists. As a coach, Molly helps people make transformational changes in the way they connect to themselves, their bodies, and their unique nervous systems so that they can bring their most authentic selves into the world. Working with Molly means you will have someone on your team with unwavering belief in what is possible for you. As a coach, Molly has an incredible passion for helping performers connect to their truest essence and finding ways to express themselves that make them feel truly alive.   A fellow performer and singer, Molly has spent her entire career supporting the hearts, minds, and lives of performers. Molly is a certified Life Coach from the Health Coach Institute(formerly Holistic MBA), received her Bachelor of the Arts in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University, her Masters of the Arts in Vocal Performance from New York University, and her Advanced Certificate from NYU in Vocal Pedagogy. Molly is the founder of the coaching practice ExpressedLife.com, in addition to serving on the faculty of NYU Steinhardt, and being the co-founder of the NYC Vocal Studio. The unchecked thoughts and beliefs are actually standing in the way of us just showing up. It creates that feeling in your body too. Catabolic energy and anabolic energy if it's always someone else's approval, permission, or job to decide if you're good enough, then what a miserable experience that will be in your life. Most artists want to perform at the highest level. But at each new level of success, we unlock a whole host of mindsets, stories, theories, and thoughts that we have to unpack and look at. It's tolerance of really uncomfortable, painful feelings. Walking through that fear is far less than continuing to live with it.  One of the things I learned about anxiety was that it's survivable. I always thought it was going to kill me. Anxiety is Manageable, Survivable, and I can handle it.  Actors who have performance anxiety: Number one, go to your body. Ask: How am I feeling? Have a systematic way. What does this body, what does this brain need to feel the most connected to myself, to be free to do the work that I came here to do? The clarity and the courage to look at, "who am I? Who do I want to be in the world? How do I contribute? What makes me feel alive?" And for so many actors, it is their acting work. And so what am I willing to do? Or find a way to do so that I can put myself in the position to be in my zone of genius? Like, how am I willing to work on this? Celebration and revelry of what you have the gift to do and to really like prioritize if there's something that makes you come alive. Do you know how many people are walking around just feeling like shells of themselves? The world needs more people who feel like themselves to connect to whatever they're doing. We deserve to find a way to get to that place, free ourselves, and be in a position to do the work we came here to do.  Obsessive versus harmonious passions. And for many of us, we were kind of like taught and trained that the only way to succeed is to have an obsessive passion, and that is a way to succeed. And a lot of people find a lot of success that way. But there are a lot of other people who are much more fulfilled through a harmonious blend of our passions. "I want to feel good." We're not taught how to feel good or how to honor our feelings, or how to notice how even just notice how we feel.  Schedule a free consult with Molly

Episode 24 On March 17th, 2020, as the world was shutting down, so too was the unexpected shut-down of Bri's body. After a quick 24 hours of a strange tingling sensation which started in her feet and grew up her legs, she brought myself to the emergency room and scaled the triage desk with her hands to let the receptionist know “I think my legs are about to collapse beneath me.” And no sooner than she said it, did it happen.  The tingling sensation in her feet grew up her legs in intensity, from pins and needles to a shooting knife-like feeling. The perplexing condition left her completely paralyzed from the waist down, and neck up. A very rare neurological/autoimmune condition attacked the healthy cells in her brain and spine, and doctors deemed it “miraculous” that only her mobility (and not my cognition, perception, language, or virtually any other human function) was compromised. She gave herself the most precious birthday gift; and took her first steps again the day she turned 29. From there, she went through intense rehabilitation, and in under a year, ran her first marathon distance (having previously never run more than a 5k). She also started her business and podcast out of the life-changing lessons she was able to counsel herself through in that hospital bed, and the unparalleled wonder of learning how to walk again, this time as a “conscious human being.” She now shares her story through speaking, workshops, and coaching, with all of her work grounded in self-actualization, conscious processes, and emotional wellness. In this episode of Money Tales, our guest is Jeff Savlov. Jeff started working at an early age in his family business, a growing commercial printing operation. His first role was to peel off strips of silver in the film that was otherwise garbage so they could sell the silver for cash. Jeff learned firsthand the challenges that come with working for your dad. As Jeff shared with us, his dad took out the business frustrations on Jeff because it was safe. Jeff, after all, was family. They ultimately hired a therapist to help address the challenging family dynamics. This experience inspired Jeff's ultimate career decision. Jeff is founder of Blum & Savlov, LLP - Family Business & Wealth Consulting and works with family businesses, high net-worth families, family offices and their advisors with a focus on balancing family dynamics with ownership and management of shared assets across generations. Jeff's specialty is working with families that want their wealth to serve current and future generations in healthy and productive ways and he loves coaching parents on raising children in a family business/wealth context to harness potential and avoid common, painful pitfalls. He speaks in the U.S. and internationally, has been quoted in the NY Times, Family Business Magazine, and authors a popular blog - “The Family Business Minute.” Jeff brings more than 25 years of unique experience in sales and marketing, business ownership, entrepreneurial endeavors and family dynamics training, along with a common sense style, to his consulting work with families. By integrating his diverse business background, extensive academic work and family dynamics/psychological training with his experience working in his family's commercial printing business, Jeff helps enterprising families to balance family dynamics and business so both will thrive for many generations. Having participated in his family's business, Jeff understands first-hand the challenges of balancing the interplay between family and business and the devastation that can befall an otherwise healthy business when this balance is not proactively managed. In the business Jeff's family owned, a consultant was brought in to work with the family, facilitated a successful reorganization of the business and helped rebuild family relationships. This is one of the primary experiences which motivated Jeff's career in family business/family wealth consulting. Jeff holds a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University with specializations in group dynamics and family systems theory and has a post-graduate certification from the Institute for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy of New Jersey (now the Center for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy of NJ) where he is a member of the faculty. We also talk at length about Tara's book, Embracing the Body. Tara helps us move away from cultural trends of objectifying or criticizing our bodies, to instead befriend our bodies and see them as good. She reminds us that God speaks through our bodies, so often reminding us of His care and presence in the midst of our own embodiment.
