Cada año se confeccionan 100 mil millones de prendas en el mundo y otras 92 millones de toneladas de textiles acaban abarrotando vertederos. La industria de la moda es una de las más contaminantes. Genera más CO2 que el transporte marítimo y los vuelos internacionales. Para ir a contracorriente de este modelo, dos peruanas han fundado en París la marca Trama: pocas piezas atemporales hechas a mano. Cynthia Guerrero y Adriana Seminario hacen la apuesta de traer a la capital de la moda el "savoir faire", la excelencia del textil peruano. Con diez años de experiencia en el mundo de la moda y el lujo, Adriana Seminario y Cinthya Guerrero han dado el gran salto: crear su propia marca en un sector reñido y cada vez más cuestionado por su enorme huella ambiental."Para mí y para Cinthya se trata de poner en valor toda la herencia textil y la herencia cultural de nuestro país de origen. Yo, por mi parte, vine a Francia hace siete años para para hacer estudios y mi tesis fue sobre el potencial de la alpaca peruana, el mercado de lujo europeo y es uno de los pilares que también ha venido a realizarse con con Trama. Entonces, en un mundo inundado de nuevas marcas y de cantidad de catidades, nosotras hemos preferido privilegiar la calidad.".Esta primera colección está compuesta de unas diez piezas, suéteres y partes superiores de baby alpaca confeccionados por artesanas a mano y "sin electricidad" entre Lima, Cusco y Arequipa. Adriana Seminario asegura que estas aresanas reciben un salario justo a la altura de una "experiencia de diez años". "No solamente tienen el pago justo, sino la formación para poder crear piezas para la exportación, que como bien sabemos es un mercado muy interesante para ellas y para cualquier trabajador artesanal", agrega.Ya se puede decir que la primera temporada de Trama va bien encaminada con "siete mercados abiertos" ante todo en Estados Unidos y en Japón. Pero, ¿se puede ser una marca ética mandando piezas de Perú a Japón?Trama intenta resolver la ecuación "centralizando todos nuestros envíos a las regiones diferentes. Por ejemplo, todo lo que es Estados Unidos, Japón, Asia sale desde Perú, no viene a Europa. Entonces, realmente intentamos optimizar en todo sentido nuestra estrategia para para poder adherir a nuestros valores de marca".Pocas piezas sin correr detrás de las tendencias, mucha calidad y precios de "lujo accesible". Las creaciones de Trama cuestan entre 250 y 500 euros. "Buscamos también que la gente comprenda que hay todo un trabajo artesanal detrás. Es una prenda que viene desde muy lejos. Hay un diseño único y de hecho está patentado", explica la también periodista."No solamente están comprando una pieza textil, sino una pieza que tiene toda una familia detrás, una herencia cultural. Y realmente pensamos que es una inversión poder tener una pieza durables. Entonces es una pieza que está hecha para durar. No es algo que vas a usar solo esta temporada", precisa.¿Cuál es el costo real de las piezas baratas?Los argumentos de durabilidad y de calidad son potentes, solo que con un presupuesto limitado, el mercado tan tentador de la moda desechable sigue siendo un peso pesado hasta perder la noción del costo real de lo que nos ponemos. "Lo que tenemos que preguntarnos, dice Seminario, es, si una prenda cuesta 10 € en descuento, ¿Cuánto costó hacerla? ¿Cuánto le pagaron a las personas que hicieron esa prenda? ¿En qué condiciones? Puedo decir con seguridad que se trata de explotación".Las redes sociales y los influencers de moda tiene un papel innegable en este consumo rápido e implusivo. Es por ello, que cada vez más países europeos tratan de intervenir en este mercado insaciable.Aquí en Francia existe una propuesta de ley contra la moda desechable, que incluiría un impuesto ecológico. Este proyecto tiene dos objetivos: mitigar el impacto ambiental de la industria de la moda y también proteger al mercado francés de los gigantes como Shein o Temu. En el caso de Shein, en tres años sus ganancias han progresado en un 900%. Cifras delirantes.Para la consultora de moda, legislar puede ser una buena idea: "Francia y la Unión Europea son muy fuertes en todo lo que es el tema de legislación y protección del mercado local. Realmente creo que puede poner un cierto freno y dar una cierta reflexión, al menos a los consumidores de decir que una pieza ya no es tan barata porque hay un impuesto suplementario. Al menos puede invitar a la reflexión por parte de los consumidores". En plena reflexión ya están Adriana Seminario y Cinthya Guerrero. In her 2020 pandemic oral history interview, photographer Cinthya Santos-Briones describes tending for her Brooklyn neighbors during a harrowing time.
