What if the things we've buried—memories, emotions, even physical clutter—are quietly shaping the way we live and work today? In this episode of the Productivity Smarts Podcast, Gerald J. Leonard sits down with Ann Mracek, author of Unpacking the Attic: A Path to Healing Your Inner Child. Ann shares how sorting through childhood memories while helping her parents move into assisted living became an unexpected journey of healing. They dive into the emotional weight of the past, the power of storytelling, and why forgiveness isn't just about letting go—it's about making space for growth. Ann opens up about how addressing past traumas can actually boost productivity and well-being, and how decluttering your mind (and maybe even your attic) can lead to a more fulfilling life. If you've ever felt like old wounds are holding you back, this episode is for you. Tune in, reflect, and take the first step toward healing. Listen now and start your journey to a clearer, more productive mindset! Everyone's life has seasons where they're presented with unique opportunities to pause, reflect, and learn from that time spent in reflection." — Ann [08:23] "As each item was brought out of the house, it triggered a cascade of memories associated with that item. Stories I had forgotten, stories I had deliberately suppressed, traumas—it brought to the surface the realization that there were unresolved problems and conflicts between family members that really needed to be addressed." — Ann [21:24] "I finally forgave my piano teacher, and in that forgiveness, I realized that the third-grade child did everything they were capable of. It really wasn't my fault, and I needed to stop replaying that memory. Now, I'm excited to record, and I don't get any of that grabbing in my gut like I used to." — Ann [24:58] "I always have it sitting here by me. This is a reminder for me of the grace of healing. I found Pop's pipe in the attic, and it still smells of cherry wood smoke." — Ann [26:07] "All I ever wanted to do as a toddler was sit on his lap, and it never happened. I carried that rejection with me for decades. My baby self said, 'I am not worthy of being loved.'" — Ann [28:18] "I realized all of a sudden I could back up and separate my adult self from the experiential emotional memory of the child and realize Pop was broken. He was in deep grief in a circumstance that I had no awareness of and couldn't possibly comprehend as a toddler." — Ann [38:27] “I have a true core belief that the music I compose nearly daily is actually being channeled from the loving source of the universe. I feel that if that music is being sent through me, it's not supposed to stop here.”— Ann Our Guest Ann Michelle Mracek is a multifaceted creative professional whose diverse talents span writing, music, dance, and education. It's time for another episode of Retrospection even if you want it or not. And this time we're getting pulpy with Dark Angel (1990). Along the way Paul unwittingly reveals his subscription to Flex magazine, Colin gets his Dark Angels mixed up, and we both get wistful about bathtime bubbles with Mr. Matey.
Christ's Torah: The Making of the New Testament in the Second Century (Routledge, 2023) explores the creation of the collection now known as the New Testament. While it is generally accepted that it did not emerge as a collection prior to the late second century CE, a more controversial question is how it came to be. How did the writings that make up the New Testament - The Gospels, the so-called Praxapostolos (Acts and the canonical letters), the Epistles of Paul, and Revelation - make their way into the collection, and what do we know about their possible historical origins, and in turn the emergence of the New Testament itself? The New Testament as we know it first became recognisable in more detail in Irenaeus of Lyon towards the end of the second century CE. However, questions remain as to how and by whom was it redacted. Was it a slow, organic process in which texts written by different authors, members of different communities and in various places, grew together into one book? Or were certain writings compiled on the basis of an editorial decision by an individual or a group of editors, revised for this purpose and partly harmonised with each other? This volume sketches out the complex development of the New Testament, arguing that key second century scholars played an important role in the emergence of the canonical collection and putting forward the possible historical origins of the text's composition. Markus Vinzent, who had held the H.G. Wood Chair in the History of Theology at the University of Birmingham (1999–2010) and was Professor for Theology and Patristics at the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, King's College London (2010–2021, ret.), is Fellow of the Max-Weber-Centre for Anthropological and Cultural Studies, University of Erfurt (2011–present). A recipient of awards from the British Academy, the Arts and Humanities Research Board, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, and the Agence Nationale de Recherche, France, he is the author of Writing the History of Early Christianity: From Reception to Retrospection (Cambridge University Press, 2019) and Resetting the Origins of Christianity: A New Theory of Sources and Beginnings (Cambridge University Press, 2023). Jonathon Lookadoo is Associate Professor at the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary in Seoul, South Korea. While his interests range widely over the world of early Christianity, he is the author of books on the Epistle of Barnabas, Ignatius of Antioch, and the Shepherd of Hermas, including The Christology of Ignatius of Antioch (Cascade, 2023). In this weekly podcast, depth psychotherapist and astrologer Shawna McGrath shares the astrology of this week from a psychological perspective. This week's astrology of August 5th - 11th brings us deeper into the initiations of last week. Mercury's retrograde continues in Virgo this week with themes of reviewing, refreshing, and reimagining our systems, processes, routines, & rituals. Mercury will also make a conjunction with Venus in Virgo - adding to correlations around values, healing, and contemplating the meaningfulness of your life. Also this week, the Sun in Leo will make a sextile (helpful opportunity) with Mars & Jupiter in Gemini. This subtle aspect shows that there may be something small we can take advantage of to further our vitality and life force. This week, we continue forward in the Leo New Moon lunar cycle that began on Sunday 8/4. It's a beautiful time for contemplation, conversations, and reflecting on what feels most meaningful to you right now. Wishing you an easy and thoughtful week

How do we know what we know about the origins of the Christian religion? Neither its founder, nor the Apostles, nor Paul left any written accounts of their movement. The witnesses' testimonies were transmitted via successive generations of copyists and historians, with the oldest surviving fragments dating to the second and third centuries - that is, to well after Jesus' death. In Resetting the Origins of Christianity: A New Theory of Sources and Beginnings (Cambridge UP, 2022), Markus Vinzent interrogates standard interpretations of Christian origins handed down over the centuries. He scrutinizes - in reverse order - the earliest recorded sources from the sixth to the second century, showing how the works of Greek and Latin writers reveal a good deal more about their own times and preoccupations than they do about early Christianity. In so doing, the author boldly challenges understandings of one of the most momentous social and religious movements in history, as well as its reception over time and place. Markus Vinzent has recently retired as Professor in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at King's College, London. He is a Fellow of the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies of the University of Erfurt. A recipient of awards from the British Academy, the Arts and Humanities Research Board, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, and the Agence Nationale de Recherche, France, he is the author of Writing the History of Early Christianity: From Reception to Retrospection (Cambridge University Press, 2019). Jonathon Lookadoo is Associate Professor at the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary in Seoul, South Korea. A basic technique for remembering one's thoughts, emotions, impulses, behaviors, and activities. By serenely visualizing the events of the day and recalling them upon the screen of lucid imagination, the consciousness strengthens its ability to perceive and understand situations, interrelationships, virtues, errors, and solutions. Through dispassionately reviewing voluntarily evoked imagery, we begin to probe the underlying, psychological causes of suffering, discovering the way to transform pain into wisdom.

Addressing the ailments of the hearts is a staple of spiritual conversations in all masjids. Talking about the expressions of a spiritually healthy heart is uncommon. This month of Ramadan, in a series titled "The Stations of the Qalb", Tarbiya's imams will embark upon an ethereal journey, inspired by Ibn-ul Qayyim's masterpiece: مدارج السالكين or Stations of the Seekers, covering one station of the heart each night, stations that enable the heart to gradually and steadily ascend towards Allah (SWT) on the path of Rabbaniya.

Star Wars Celebration has come and gone in the blink of an eye. Today we look back at what the convention held and if it met the expectations it set up after being postponed in 2020. The Triad was featured at the Podcast Stage this year so we reminisce and look back at this and all the other panels we were able to attend. From Andor to The Bad Batch, from Tales of the Jedi to The High Republic we discuss everything, especially the friends we made along the way! • • • Please check out The Amidala Initiative a "...community-operated, nonprofit campaign which seeks to use our platform to raise funds for Equality Texas, the largest nonpartisan statewide political advocacy organization working to eliminate discrimination targeting the LGBTQ+ community in the state of Texas. It is our goal to show that our community can follow in the footsteps of a character like Padmé Amidala, who tirelessly used her voice to speak up to protect disenfranchised and endangered people within a flawed political system. While we may not have the reach, impact or resources of larger online presences, we do not believe that is an excuse to sit by silently as hate seeks to establish stronger footholds and threaten our most vulnerable siblings in our own galaxy."
