We're entering the home stretch of Elvis's filmography, but there's still plenty of surprises to be found! Today's episode: Easy Come, Easy Go. After finding issue with the IMDb plot summary (from the very get-go) we run through the film's limited taglines and explore the strange history of the film's title, as well as the better name hidden in the film. We wonder why Elvis, once again, does not have a love interest. Why is there no love, very few songs, and no capers? We talk about the wheel of girls (and a new level of sleaze), Col. Tom Parker vs. yoga and art, and underwater fights and other sequences reminiscent of James Bond films. We have a realization about the circumstances within every Elvis movie. We guess the plot of Double Trouble, once again banking on there being two Elvis Presleys in the film.

We're closing out 1966 with Elvis Presley's third (and final) film: Spinout! We try to parse the plot of Spinout, which is at the same time both totally inscrutable and a re-hash of earlier films, and which Mike has a theory about. We find our first (?) actual good tagline for an Elvis movie, discuss the original pitch for this movie (which Col. Tom Parker shot down), and try to make sense of the creative team's lack of action around a soundtrack solution. Mike sees what this movie is really trying to do (which Joey totally missed). We wonder if food in 1966 was good, why Elvis is so susceptible to reverse psychology, and why they choose to describe women as a "smorgasbord." Elvis saves a marriage, then marries three women. We look ahead to Easy Come, Easy Go.

Bec crashes an episode with Gurdip and Justin covering the 1971 Camden "C'mon Everybody," a compilation collecting a handful of tracks that at the time of its release had previously only been available on the Extended Play soundtracks for Follow That Dream, Kid Galahad, Viva Las Vegas and Easy Come, Easy Go. It turns out to be one of the breeziest, enjoyable Camdens and the gang has a ton of fun digging into it. Also discussed are news items including the upcoming Guitar Man Sessions FTD, the false Graceland foreclosure, and Justin's recent Elvis finds - which includes a copy of our main topic album! For Song of the Week, Bec hangs around just to commentate on our picks, with Gurdip selecting the title track of 1967's "Double Trouble" which leads to reading songwriter Mort Shuman's hilarious recollection (or lack thereof) about the song in Ken Sharp's "Writing for the King, before closing out with Justin's Song of the Week, the short" opening title version of "Kissin' Cousins" often referred to as "No. 2." Former teen idol Bobby Sherman is 80 years old and still wowing them. He was born in Santa Monica, California and became interested in singing whilst at high school. Following his graduation, he was given the opportunity to sing for Sal Mineo's band at a party and eventually got a gig as house singer for the ABC show ‘Shindig!', which ran from 1964 to 1966. His luck changed drastically in 1968 when he was cast in the role of a stammering, bashful logger in the TV drama series ‘Here Come the Brides'. The series became a hit and established him as an actor. The following year Bobby released the song "Little Woman". The single charted #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually earned gold status. Bobby instantly became adored the world over and from the late 60s to the mid-70s, he toured extensively. A frequent guest on TV variety shows and featured in an episode of ‘The Partridge Family', he later had guest roles in several drama series including ‘Mod Squad,' ‘Murder She Wrote,' ‘Ellery Queen,' ‘Frasier,' ‘The Ed Sullivan Show,' 'Good Day LA,' ‘The Rosie O'Donnell Show,' ‘Entertainment Tonight,' and ‘Good Morning America,' to name a few. In 1981, Sherman starred in the musical comedy movie ‘Get Crazy'. Five years later, he joined the cast of the sitcom ‘Sanchez of Bel Air.' His versatility as an actor allowed him to seamlessly transition between comedic and dramatic roles, showcasing a depth beyond his teen idol persona. These television appearances further solidified his status as a well-rounded entertainer. After a 25-year absence, Bobby performed in "The Teen Idol Tour" in 1998 along with artists Davy Jones (The Monkees) and Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits). While his presence in the spotlight may have waned in recent years, his enduring appeal remains. Bobby Sherman scored so many hits during the late 60s and early 70s, including "Easy Come, Easy Go”, "Julie, Do Ya Love Me" and "La, La, La", all of which sold millions of copies and earned him gold discs. From 71 to 79, Bobby Sherman was married to his first wife. The couple had two sons, both of whom work in the entertainment industry today. In the 90s, Bobby joined the Los Angeles Police Department as a technical Reserve Police Officer. He was later promoted to Captain in the Department and began serving in San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in 1999, eventually retiring in 2010. It was during this time that Bobby met his new wife, Brigitte Poublon. Together, the couple founded the not-for-profit Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children's Foundation. No surprise that Bobby Sherman - all round good guy and much loved entertainer has had several awards bestowed on him for his humanitarian efforts. Bobby Sherman joins us this week to share tales of his incredible journey. Although stuntmen did most of the underwater work, Elvis Presley, cast as Navy frogman Ted Jackson, whose job it was to diffuse sunken mines, still had alot of scenes in and around water in 1967's Easy Come, Easy Go. This necessitated being clothed head to toe in scuba gear and getting wet occasionally - two things Elvis was not a fan of. Also appearing in this film, one of the last of Elvis' movie career, were an off shore treasure subplot, a yoga class musical number, hippies in full body paint and One Day at a Time star Pat Harrington as the owner of a seaside shanty. Dan and Vicky discuss the musical adventure directed by John Rich along with lots of recently seen. Take notes! There's alot here! Shyamalan's Knock at the Cabin, Shudder's Deadtectives, Significant Other on Paramount +, Netflix's You People, Peacock's Poker Face, Magic Mike's Last Dance, Luther: The Fallen Sun and SO much more. Singer BOBBY SHERMAN was a high school football star when Hollywood A-Listers Jane Fonda and Natalie Wood discovered him at a party in the mid-'60s. They asked him to sing at the party, and after he did, Jane Fonda arranged a meeting for him with a talent agent. That meeting proved to be the start of an incredible career that lasted decades and turned him into one of the world's most famous teen idols. His face featured on the bedroom walls of teenage girls all over the world. Bobby started out his working life on the American teenage music show ‘Shindig'. After that he attracted a huge following as an actor in the hit TV series ‘Here Come The Brides' and he guested regularly on shows like ‘The Partridge Family'. He became the archetypal matinee idol. As his newfound fame grew though, it quickly became his nightmare. Bobby had no time to have a life of his own. He worked seven days a week in different cities and states, often falling into bed late at night, on his own and exhausted. 25,000 letters a week from fans didn't relieve the loneliness. He scored seven Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1971, including " Easy Come, Easy Go" and "Julie, Do Ya Love Me." At the same time, his face was all over, from lunch boxes, fan magazines, posters, and assorted merchandise. Success, however, was not all it was cracked up to be. In today's episode, I chat with Bobby Sherman and his wife of 25 years, Brigitte Poublon. We hear about Bobby's early life, how he felt about becoming a star and what the adoration of fans meant to him. Bobby tells us how he came to join the LAPD and about what instigated his career change as well as his ongoing desire to help mankind. The pair discuss how they met and formed The Brigitte and Bobby Sherman Children's Foundation https://www.bbscfoundation.org/ that today still makes a huge difference to the lives of many. They would love to receive a donation from you so please get in touch via the website to help a young child in need. Bobby Sherman is a funny, humble and strangely shy man. He's about to turn 80 but as you'll hear, he's still so youthful and energetic. Bobby Sherman really is that all-American boy next door and as nice a person as you could imagine. Hope you enjoy our chat.
I still remember how I was sure that she was living her best life. I had no idea that she was BLOWING SMOKE and was actually faking most of her life. She used to upload pictures of her travel trips, romantic dinners, and luxurious cars on Instagram. The sarcastic truth was that everything she posted online was totally fake. If you looked closely, you can tell that things were not as they seemed. After a while, things became clearer. Her stories were MADE UP and started to conflict with one another. Also, even if things were partially real, she would BLOW THINGS OUT OF PROPORTION and add some spices to her stories trying her best to SHOW OFF. She was literally FULL OF IT. However, doing so wouldn't encourage people to STAY CLOSE to her instead she would make them RUN AWAY or use her. She must understand that being DOWN TO EARTH is not something to be shameful of. In fact, people are attracted to those who are genuinely humble but still confident. Also, she must remember the idiom that says “EASY COME, EASY GO”. That being said she must not rely on those superficial relationships because sooner or later they would actually FALL APART and would eventually fail. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wafa-damlaj/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wafa-damlaj/support

Hey, y'all. Shay here. On air indie. I chatted with Davie Furey about his current music and the incredible message behind his songs. We are spinning two recent releases that are getting international recognition for their message. He is an incredible talent out of Dublin, Ireland. Tracks: 'The Rain Falls On Palestine' (before show) & 'History' during our chat. Thank you for tuning in. Cheers! Shay From the Artist Davie Furey released his album, Haunted Streets, in Feb. 2021 to much critical acclaim. The album has been described as “a masterclass in songwriting and musicianship” and has seen its four singles hitting #1 on the Irish Singer-Songwriter charts. With Haunted Streets, Furey and producer/multi-instrumentalist Martin Quinn have done a wonderful job surrounding the singer/songwriter's compelling tunes with dynamic, electric arrangements as well as talented musicians who sound like they've been playing with Furey for years. Haunted Streets' 11 tracks defy easy categorization, with songs ranging from fiery rockers (“Fire and Gold” and “The Final Frontier”) to the tender piano ballad “Farewell Returning Blues” and boisterous, horn-fueled “Spaces Full.” His music suggests an Irish twist on Americana music; something like Steve Earle or John Hiatt might have sounded liked had they been born in Dublin. Over the past few years, he has been a Pure M Awards nominee in the Best Newcomer, Best Male Artist, and Best Irish Solo Act categories and nominated as Folk Artist of the Year for 2021's Hot Press Irish Music Awards. Furey's 2015 debut Easy Come, Easy Go was well-received and garnered high praise from the likes of Christy Moore (“a fine, fine record”), Donovan ("An excellent piece of work”), Luka Bloom (“Davie sings from the heart and has the voice of a poet") and Jeremy Irons (“I love this album”). Furey cites Earle, along with Dylan, Springsteen, and Prine, among musicians he admires. Encouraged by Irish musicians like Bloom and Moore, he worked hard to develop his own voice that showcases his Irish heritage. For the Haunted Streets sessions, Furey and Quinn assembled an all-star lineup of Irish musicians: fiddlers Steve Wickham (The Waterboys), guitarist Francie Conway, keyboardist Darren Holden (The High Kings), banjoist Robbie Campion (Drops of Green), vocalists ELLYD and Susan O'Neill, and drummer Andrew Quinn. Furey finished Haunted Streets just as the Covid pandemic put everything on hold. A new creative outlet in 2020 was starting a podcast, The Green Wave, where he interviews some of Ireland's top musicians and writers. In February of 2021, Furey decided the time was right to release Haunted Streets in the U.K. and Ireland, and the album will be released in the U.S. on July 9th. Facebook Twitter Youtube Bandcamp Instagram Spotify External-link-alt https://youtu.be/Oh4f_1BtsNw Davie Furey presents his brand new song The Rain That Falls On Palestine, recorded in October 2021 in Jam Studios. It is a song that reflects what the Palestinian people are experiencing at the hands of the Israeli government. Written by Davie Furey. Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Martin Quinn. Videographer Pat Farrell. Lighting Nick Anton. Edited and Mixed by Andy Walsh No Alphabet. Footage of Palestine courtesy of Ahmed Hijazi. https://youtu.be/rygAqE4gC2k Irish singer-songwriter Davie Furey's new single, “History,” is an anthemic slice of Celtic-folk-infused, synth-bolstered jangle pop begging to echo off arena walls. It's a sound as big as its carpe-diem call to action. “History,” is out May 4th 2022. Video produced by JellyTopsis Productions.

He was a teen idol here in Milwaukee and around the world in the 60s and early 70s. In fact, the screaming of the young women in the audience caused him to lose some of his hearing. He was the star of “Shindig” and “Here Come the Brides” TV shows. Bobby received more fan mail than any other entertainer on ABC-TV. He had seven gold singles and five gold albums. His hit “Little Woman” became a million seller. He had many other hits including “Julie Do Ya Love Me,” and “Easy Come, Easy Go.” He was my guest on the “Bob Barry Calls the World” program several times. This time he added a lesson for young people on how to become successful…with a surprise ending!

Aaron Barker and Dean Dillon wrote “Easy Come, Easy Go” and it was released in August 1993 as the title lead single on George Strait's album of the same name. The song went to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Song chart and the Canadian RPM Country chart and had crossover success reaching number 71 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album Easy Come, Easy Go was George Strait's fourteenth studio album and produced four top ten hit singles.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/back-story-song/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Nashville Songwriter Hall of Famer, Aaron Barker, grew up in San Antonia playing guitar and in the 70s and early 80s he fronted a Texas southern rock band, The American Peddlers, playing clubs and military bases in Texas and the southwest. Frustrated trying to breakthrough on his own, Aaron moved to Nashville to try to sell his own songs there. With little success, he returned to San Antonio when he discovered George Strait had recorded his song, “Baby Blue,” and it rose to #1 on the Country Charts. George Strait went on to take Aaron's “Love Without End, Amen,” “Easy Come, Easy Go” to #1 and “I'ld Like To Have That One Back” to #3, “I Can Still Make Cheyenne” to #4, and “I Know She Still Loves Me” to #5 and Aaron's place in Nashville songwriting royalty was enshrined. Country legends like Clay Walker (“You're Beginning To Get To Me”), Doug Supernaw (“Not Enough Hours In The Night”), Clay Walker (“You're Beginning To Get To Me”), and Lonestar (“What About Now”) also had hits with Aaron's songs.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Barkerhttps://www.facebook.com/aaronbarkersr/http://aaronbarker.com/https://twitter.com/AaronBarkerSrSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/back-story-song/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
