Their assailant was an Australian. In this latest Medical Ethics Report, Ian Humphreys is joined by Dr. Liz Evans, CEO of the UK Medical Freedom Alliance, to discuss a range of escalating ethical breaches and health narratives unfolding in 2026. From legislative maneuvers to the ongoing censorship of medical professionals, this update covers the critical issues the mainstream media often overlooks. Political Ethics & The Assisted Dying BillThe conversation begins with concerns regarding local election integrity, including the use of pencils versus pens at polling stations and the potential for GDPR violations by political tellers. The duo then dives deep into the Leadbeater Bill regarding assisted dying:System Gaming: Supporters are reportedly using the Private Members' Bill ballot to flood the system with identical bills to ensure the legislation moves forward. Safeguarding Holes: Critics argue the bill is "deeply flawed," lacking essential safeguards and details regarding the process and drugs used. Palliative Care First: Dr. Evans emphasizes that the public priority should be high-quality palliative care to ensure "genuine choice" rather than forcing people into assisted dying due to lack of support. New Viral Narratives: Hantavirus & mRNAIan and Liz scrutinize the recent reports of a Hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship. Narrative Skepticism: They highlight inconsistencies in reports of human-to-human transmission, which many virologists claim is extremely rare. Vaccine Pre-planning: Reference is made to Moderna's collaboration with Korean University to develop mRNA-based vaccines for Hantavirus, echoing the COVID-19 "playbook". "Disease X": The WHO's classification of this as a "Disease X" priority is discussed as a potential distraction or psychological operation. The Persecution of "Dissident" DoctorsThe report highlights the ongoing legal and professional battles faced by doctors who spoke out during the pandemic:Dr. Dean Patterson: A Guernsey cardiologist facing license suspension and financial hardship after reporting an uptick in myocarditis. Dr. Dave Cartland: Described as being subjected to a "witch hunt" and public bullying, leading to the loss of his medical license. Dr. Billy Ralph: Currently in fitness-to-practice hearings in Ireland for questioning COVID-19 injections. COVID Inquiry & Alternative TreatmentsThe discussion wraps up with a critique of the COVID Inquiry Module 4 report by Baroness Hallett. "Whitewash" Allegations: Dr. Evans criticizes the claim that the vaccine rollout saved 450,000 lives as "preposterous" and "outrageous". Suppressed Evidence: The inquiry has been accused of failing to publish case studies from vaccine-injured groups, leading to the independent publication of the book Fallout from the Rollout. Cancer Research: Ian highlights a Newsmax report on a study using Ivermectin and Mebendazole, which showed significant tumor regression in cancer patients—treatments that remain largely ignored by official bodies. When a white supremacist gunman opened fire during a Bible study at Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, South Carolina, nine worshippers, including their charismatic pastor, were murdered at a bible class in a racist attack.Writer Kevin Sack spent a decade documenting what happened at Mother Emanuel, tracing not only the events of June 17, 2015, but the deeper history of race, resistance, and forgiveness that shaped the community's response. In this episode, you'll hear the story of how that church endured and what its response can teach others confronting religious violence today. This is part one of a special Religion and Ethics Report series on how faith and friendship helped three religious communities overcome violent attack, as Australia grapples with the aftermath of its own devastating attack at Bondi.
It's 40 years since the Philippine People's Revolution It was a revolution where barely a shot was fired. Nuns armed with rosary beads helped lead millions of Filipinos in peaceful demonstrations that, 40 years ago, brought down the dictator Ferdinand Marcos. Ringing in the ears of the people was the voice of a soft-spoken archbishop who urged them to topple a corrupt and increasingly brutal regime. Just how critical was Cardinal Jaime Sin and the Catholic Church to the People Power revolution? GUEST: Dr Jethro Calacday, Filipino historian currently at Cambridge University

There's another gerrymander as North Carolina lawmakers say they'll redraw districts to allow for one more Republican; an outside investigation clears Charlotte City Council of accusations of unethical, immoral or illegal conduct the CEO of LendingTree dies unexpectedly; and the Panthers have a chance at a winning record.
In February this year 14 members of Toowoomba-based religious sect the Saints were sentenced to prison in the Queensland supreme court. They group, including her parents, were found guilty of manslaughter over the death of 8 year old Elizabeth Struh's 2022 death by diabetic ketoacidosis. In a confronting documentary for ABC TV's Compass, award-winning journalist Suzanne Smith enters the world of the religious cult the Saints and talks to their families and former cult members.Suzanne brings The Religion and Ethics Report exclusive access to audio of police interviews and conversations with some of the young girl's relatives. The program "The Cult of the Saints" will air on ABC TV and be available here on ABC iView
A new pope has been elected to lead the Roman Catholic Church. The moment was marked by white smoke billowing from a chimney above the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican.Pope Leo XIV from Chicago, who worked for years in Peru, has appeared on the balcony above St Peter's Square to greet the thousands of faithful.Today, Andrew West, host of the ABC's Religion and Ethics Report, on what we know about the first American pope and what his election means for the future of the church.Featured:Andrew West, host of the ABC's Religion and Ethics Report
Former Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz debuted his new show on One America News late last week and was immediately blasted for his terrible performance and horrific appearance on the air. Gaetz was botoxed almost to the point of being unrecognizable, and his delivery was stale and boring. The whole show was roasted by the internet, while plenty of others questioned why the network would even put him on the air after the release of the Ethics Report.Republican Congressman Steve Scalise has an absolutely ridiculous theory about why the New Year's Eve attack on New Orleans happened. According to the man who actually represents that district in the House, the attack occurred because of "DEI" and "wokeness." Republicans will use any excuse to go after what they think "wokeness" actually is, in spite of having no clue what the words they are saying actually mean. Donald Trump isn't the only person getting sick and tired of Elon Musk - Republicans in Congress are also ready for the world's richest man to shut his mouth and sit in the corner. Republican lawmakers are STILL fuming over Musk's lies about the recently-passed budget bill, and they aren't holding back their disdain for his claims. But they won't dare actually get rid of him because they love his money more than they hate his antics.Republicans in Washington, D.C. have made extending the 2017 Tax Cuts a priority as the new session kicks off, but many in the caucus want to know how to pay for those cuts. The solutions they have come up with are all devastating to the public, including the likelihood of cuts to the SNAP program and cuts to Medicaid. And if that's not enough, they are also planning to role back environmental protections and imposing Trump's tariffs - both of which would also negatively impact American citizens. Jen Psaki reflects on the eye-popping revelations from the House Ethics Committee about Matt Gaetz, and how it shows that Trump's GOP clearly lives by a different standard -- a lower one. Jen is joined by Rep. Jasmine Crockett and MSNBC host Katie Phang to react to the committee's findings, including whether Gaetz could still be held accountable. Next, Jen is joined by political analyst Brendan Buck and reporter Annie Karni to preview the upcoming fight for Speaker of the House in the wake of the Gaetz bombshell. Then, Jen shares some thoughts on the precarious relationship between president-elect Trump and Elon Musk and how difficult their inevitable breakup may be. Later, Jen is joined by Rep. Jim Himes to discuss whether Musk is using his proximity to the presidency to benefit himself financially and concerns about Musk handling sensitive information. Finally, Jen is joined by Former White House Counsel Bob Bauer and Former Assistant Attorney General Jack Goldsmith to discuss Trump's plans to dismantle government and push the limits of presidential power in a second term.Check out our social pages below:https://twitter.com/InsideWithPsakihttps://www.instagram.com/InsideWithPsaki/https://www.tiktok.com/@insidewithpsakihttps://www.msnbc.com/jen-psaki

SEASON 3 EPISODE 81: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: To paraphrase Van Jones and other panderers: This was the weekend Elon Musk truly became president. It was also the weekend the other guy became Donald J. Trumpuppet. The number of Republicans who defied Trump over the Continuing Resolution ranges, depending on your point of view, from 29 to ALL of them. Because they also voted by unanimous consent to bury Musk's fabricated controversy over the no-cost land transfer to the District of Columbia. Trump, for his part, is in a bigger hole now than he ever was during his presidency as the self-inflicted losses pile up: The Gaetz Lack-of-Ethics Report may come out today. Other nominations are in trouble. One new one may be Alan Dershowitz and another may have padded his resume. The idea of Recess Appointments is forgotten. Trump has been taunted with the "Musk Is President" chatter. Some Republicans are taking it seriously and suggesting him for Speaker. And that in turn let Democrats emphasize Trump tanked the deal to benefit his interests with the Chinese Communist Party. And Trump spoke yesterday for the first time in weeks and sounded drunk - which is a problem, because he doesn't drink. All while he is being pursued by his two worst enemies: himself - and Musk. B-BLOCK (27:00) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Remember my suggestion that MSNBC's response to Trump's win and its own tanking ratings was to do nothing but double down and exploit the Liberal Media Monopoly the cowards at CNN, The Washington Post and others were giving them? Guess what! MSNBC's new boss wants... better relationships with Republicans. (40:56) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Martin Shrkeli emerged from his sewer to get owned on social media, New York sends a bill for damages to the family of a guy a police officer killed with an unmarked car, and are there secret Mark Burnett Trump Outtake Tapes? Don't ask Burnett - he now works for Trump. C-BLOCK (50:20) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: You have your Christmas story, I have mine. Mine is about falling off a cliff near Malibu filming a commercial for fast-food chicken. Stick around for the post-closing theme guest appearance Easter eggs courtesy some of my dogs.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
