Antibiotic

What's the problem with antibiotics anyway? On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared passionately answers this question. There is no antibiotic that doesn't cause harm. That's not to say they don't have their place, but as Jared explains, they are almost never necessary and almost always prescribed for common problems like UTI's and sinus infections. You'll learn why many infections don't need, and won't respond to antibiotics, the ramifications of even a single dose of antibiotics, and how antibiotic superbugs are a real problem. Jared delves into why antibiotics are overused, side effects of particularly dangerous forms, and the effects on mental health and the immune system. This show will be followed with one on antibiotic alternatives and ways to rebuild your microbiome after antibiotic exposure.Additional Information:#264: Emotional Vitality: Jen's Story Part 1 - From Addiction and Mental Illness to Vitality#266: Prescribing Poisons Part 2. Big Pharma, Big Tech, and the Deep State don't want you to hear this conversation, but Dr. Pierre Kory and I expose their lies anyway. The war on medicine is real—COVID was just the beginning. Now they're rolling out mRNA tech for cancer, embedding AI in biotech, and pushing a transhumanist agenda that turns humans into lab rats. What's worse? They're gaslighting us, poisoning our food, manipulating our health, and calling it “science.” We break down why RFK Jr. is the man to finally dismantle this corrupt system, the lies behind the cancer industry, and why so many people are sick, infertile, and dying young. This is the medical-industrial complex's worst nightmare.Dr Pierre Kory and Jeff Dornik will both be speaking at the upcoming Summit for Truth & Wellness in Rochester, NY, on March 29th, alongside Mary Holland, Naomi Wolf, Dr Mary Talley Bowden and Shannon Joy. In this episode of The Jeff Dornik Show, I got to sit down for an interview on What's Really Going On in America and we dove into the war over free speech, platforms like Pickax, and the absolute necessity of supporting those who share our values. We exposed how mainstream platforms like X and Facebook are actively censoring dissent while protecting anonymous troll farms from foreign actors that push divisive content. And this isn't just a problem for conservatives anymore—content creators from across the spectrum are seeing their income streams slashed thanks to Big Tech's manipulative algorithms. We can't win this battle by propping up the very companies trying to silence us. That's why Pickax is committed to being a real free speech platform—no censorship, no algorithms designed to bury the truth, and full monetization for creators who actually want to reach their audience. If you're tired of watching your voice get drowned out, it's time to ditch the enemy's platforms and join us at Pickax. People with cystic fibrosis are particularly prone to chest infections caused by bacteria that are hard to treat, but one possible treatment is a class of antibiotic known as the macrolides. There's been a Cochrane Review of this since 2003 and the fourth update was published in February 2024. Here's Kevin Southern from Alder Hey Children's Hospital in the UK, who is one of its authors and an Editor for the Cochrane Cystic Fibrosis Group, to tell us more.

While not anti-Trump by any means, Jeff explains his focus on 4 primary issues and how Kennedy is equivalent or superior than Trump in those areas: illegal immigration, foreign policy, corporate capture of regulating agencies and the Deep State intelligence agencies Additionally, he explains how he can support a lifelong Democrat who holds several views that are opposite of his own, including abortion and RFK's recent shift in climate change. Dr Jim Thorp, Chief of Maternal and Prenatal Medicine for The Wellness Company, returns to The Jeff Dornik Show, breaking down the recent news about the FDA agreeing to settle a lawsuit, in which they will rescind their warnings about Ivermectin being used as treatment for covid-19. We also go over his presentation he'll be giving before the Oklahoma Senate, providing data proving that the covid-19 injections are the most injurious drug to over be released. Millions of adverse reactions, coupled with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of deaths, should be more than enough evidence to pull the jabs off the shelves once-and-for-all. Additionally, Big Pharma, FDA and CDC should all be prosecuted as the criminals that they are. Subscribe to The Jeff Dornik Show on Rumble to catch every episode LIVE. In the latest episode of the Incubator Podcast's Journal Club, the hosts, Ben and Daphna, delve into a detailed discussion of recent neonatology research. The Oscar Trial: Examined the efficacy of early ibuprofen treatment for large patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in extremely preterm infants to improve outcomes like survival and severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). The study, a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial across 32 UK units, found no significant benefit of early ibuprofen treatment.Breastfeeding as a Protective Factor Against BPD: A retrospective study from the British Journal of Nutrition by José Uberos, focusing on the intake of mother's own milk, donor human milk, or preterm formula within the first two weeks of life in very low birth weight infants. It highlighted the benefits of mother's milk in reducing the odds of BPD and noted the importance of enteral nutrition in the development of BPD.Clinical Chorioamnionitis and Neurodevelopment: Drawn from the Epipage to cohort, the study found no significant association between clinical chorioamnionitis and neurodevelopmental disorders at five years of age for infants born between 24 and 34 weeks of gestation.Polyethylene Bags Before Cord Clamping: This randomized control trial published in the Archives of Disease in Childhood investigated whether placing very preterm infants in a polyethylene bag before cord clamping could ensure normothermia upon NICU admission. The trial concluded that there was no significant difference in the normothermia rates between those bagged before and after cord clamping.Marijuana Use and Breastfeeding: Survey results from a Pediatrics journal article showing variability in hospital practices regarding breastfeeding for mothers who use marijuana. It calls for more standardized, evidence-based practices to ensure healthcare equity.Platelet Transfusion and Neurodevelopmental Impairment: A JAMA Network Open study using data from the PEANUT trial, examining the association between platelet transfusion exposure and death or severe neurodevelopmental impairment at two years of age in extremely preterm children.Azithromycin During Routine Well Infant Visits: A study from Burkina Faso published in the New England Journal of Medicine tested the effectiveness of Azithromycin given during routine health care visits in preventing infant mortality. The results did not support the prophylactic use of Azithromycin for this purpose.Challenges in Managing Refractory Pain and Sedation in Infants: A review article from Frontiers in Pharmacology compiling guidelines and providing insights into the management of pain, sedation, and withdrawal in infants, including the issue of delirium in the NICU setting.EBNEO Commentary with Dr. Eugene How and Dr. Cami Martin on the study by Ariel Salas et al published in Pediatrics: Early human milk fortification in infants born extremely preterm: A randomised trial. Have you ever been 5 days into a cold, and you're just SICK OF FEELING SICK? Did you think "hmmm, maybe I should call my doctor, or hit up the local urgent care and see if they'll prescribe me a Z-Pak"? What IS a Z-Pak? What does it do? Does it actually do anything? Is it something my healthcare provider gives me just to "do something"? What does the evidence show? Friends, we know that it may feel like if the patient doesn't “get something” after coming in for an appointment, that we have cheated them out of “real treatment”, or if we don't order something that they can't just get at home or at the drug store, that our role as physician doesn't have value? Or that we have blown them off, or don't care about their symptoms? We want our patients to feel heard, and to feel better! Sometimes setting boundaries, and explaining that the treatment plan is JUST reassurance and expectant management is HARD. So let's talk all about the most-prescribed outpatient antibiotic, AZITHROMYCIN! What is it good for (and what is it NOT)? ... and BONUS dessert topic at the end answers the question "does choosing reduced-fat dairy as opposed to full-fat have any value?" Resources for this episode include: An NBC News story about the recent mycoplasma pneumonia (walking pneumonia) outbreak. Antibiotic resistance is a growing threat, silently undermining our ability to combat infections and urging us to find innovative solutions before it's too late. Today we are joined by Connecticut-based oral maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. David Salomon to explore the ever-evolving landscape of antibiotic practices and the importance of staying up-to-date, especially when it comes to treating serious infections. Dr. Salomon discusses the fundamental principles of antibiotic therapy, including appropriate selection and administration, before delving into the pressing issue of antibiotic resistance and the necessity of using narrow-spectrum antibiotics to combat this problem effectively. Understanding the duration of antibiotic treatment and prophylaxis is crucial, as it varies with each individual case. Dr. Salomon highlights the significance of considering sensitivities before administering antibiotics, along with indications for antimicrobial use and the heightened risk faced by immunocompromised patients. We explore alternative antibiotics for penicillin-allergic patients and discover why it's so crucial for us to improve our understanding and adherence to prophylactic protocols in dental surgery. Tune in for invaluable insights into the world of antibiotics and their role in personalized care!Key Points From This Episode:Introducing Connecticut-based oral maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. David Salomon. The evolving nature of antibiotic practices and the importance of staying updated, particularly for serious infections.Principles of antibiotic therapy, including appropriate selection and administration.Antibiotic resistance and the need for narrow-spectrum antibiotics. How the duration of antibiotic treatment and prophylaxis varies based on individual cases. The importance of taking sensitivities into consideration before administering antibiotics.Indications for antimicrobial use and increased risk for immunocompromised patients.Alternative antibiotics for penicillin-allergic patients. Why antibiotic prophylaxis is used for dental procedures.Treatment approaches for severe infections and special circumstances. The importance of biopsy and culturing for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Why preoperative prophylactic antibiotics are recommended for surgical procedures.Azithromycin as an alternative for oral prophylaxis in penicillin-allergic patients. The need for better understanding and adherence to prophylactic protocols in dental surgery.Dr. Salomon's preferred number of chains and links in expose and bond procedures. Thanks for listening!Links Mentioned in Today's Episode:Dr. David Salomon — https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-salomon-b8ab1431KLS Martin Summer Sale Special — klsmartin.com (Promo code: EOSSummer2023)Everyday Oral Surgery Website — https://www.everydayoralsurgery.com/ Everyday Oral Surgery on Instagram — https://www.instagram.com/everydayoralsurgery/ Everyday Oral Surgery on Facebook — https://www.facebook.com/EverydayOralSurgery/Dr. Grant Stucki Email — grantstucki@gmail.comDr. Grant Stucki Phone — 720-441-6059
In this episode of Causes or Cures, Dr. Eeks chats wit Dr. Michael Santos about the A-PLUS trial, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, which looked at the effects of a cheap, widely available antibiotic, Azithromycin, in preventing sepsis and death in women during childbirth in low- to middle-income countries. Dr. Santos will explain the prevalence and life-threatening nature of sepsis in women during childbirth, particularly in low-resource settings. He will discuss what they knew about Azithromycin and maternal sepsis prior to the study, how they recruited for this study and conducted it, the results they found, and the wider public health implications. Dr. Santos is Vice President of Science at the Foundations for the National Intitutes of Health (FNIH) and was in charge of the work FNIH did on the A-PLUS trial. He was previously Deputy Director of the Global Health program of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This week we will discuss Strep once again. Bacteria called group B Streptococcus (group B strep, GBS) commonly live in people's gastrointestinal and genital tracts. The gastrointestinal tract is the part of the body that digests food and includes the stomach and intestines. The genital tract is the part of the body involved in reproduction and includes the vagina in women. Most of the time the bacteria are not harmful and do not make people feel sick or have any symptoms. Sometimes the bacteria invade the body and cause certain infections, which are known as GBS disease. GBS bacteria can cause many types of infections: Bacteremia (bloodstream infection) and sepsis (the body's extreme response to an infection) Bone and joint infections Meningitis (infection of the tissue covering the brain and spinal cord) Pneumonia (lung infection) Skin and soft-tissue infections GBS most commonly causes bacteremia, sepsis, pneumonia, and meningitis in newborns. It is very uncommon for GBS to cause meningitis in adults. (CDC)

Vanessa Nolet is a 29-year-old young woman from Quebec, Canada. She is working on finishing up a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management. Prior to getting sick with Lyme disease, Ms. Nolet had a great life filled with friends and sports. She worked at a spa while going to college and was exposed to Freon during an accident which changed her life. Around this time, Ms. Nolet was bit by a tick and within a month she became very ill. She had chronic fatigue, whole body spasms, light sensitivity, body burning, ulcers, arthritis, irregular periods, autoimmune symptoms, and more. She visited many doctors, specialists, and hospitals in Canada before going to America for help where she was finally diagnosed. Nobody could figure out why she was sick. Some doctors misdiagnosed her with conditions such as Fibromyalgia, other pain disorders, and Lupus. Finally, at the age of 27, Ms. Nolet was diagnosed with Lyme disease in part thanks to Dr. Richard Horowitz's Multiple Systemic Infectious Disease Syndrome (MSIDS) questionnaire. She was treated with Doxycycline, Rifampin, Azithromycin, Naltrexone, AGE, and more with a specialist in Canada. If you would like to learn how a young woman from Canada fought for a root cause diagnosis and is now on the path to health, then tune in now!
