Wild game is an excellent source of all-natural protein that's pesticide and antibiotic free. Plus, it's leaner and contains less saturated fat compared to traditional store bought meats. Sure, the nutritional facts alone are reason enough to eat more wild game. But, the truth is that the intoxicating aroma and delicious flavors are far too heavenly for our palates to resist and all the health benefits associated with eating wild game play second fiddle, at least for us. So, this week on The Revolution with Jim and Trav presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV, we're taking our wild game from Field to Fork with tried-and-true tips to better grill, fry, roast and smoke our hard hunted, and earned, meats. Growing up in Cambridge, Ontario, Tim Brent knew from a very young age that he wanted to be a professional hockey player. He claims that his "do whatever it takes" mentality as the key to going pro. Today, at age 32, Tim is retired from a career in the NHL and finds himself in a second career of commercial real estate in North Carolina, where he and Eva Shockey Brent call home. As you might imagine, Tim enjoys his deer hunting. Introduced to the sport by two captains on one of his NHL teams, Tim has enjoyed hunting all over the country. Despite spending years on the ice and dealing night-in night-out with the adrenaline rush that comes with highly competitive professional sports, Tim says that there is nothing in this world that compares to the adrenaline rush of deer hunting. Tim shares with us how he first met Eva Shockey, how he is preparing for fatherhood, what hunting in a warmer climate south is like for a Canadian, and tells us a heck of a deer story about a hunt on which he wasn't really supposed to go. Jim Shockey, now 58 years young, has made a career of hunting for over 30 years now. Most would say he is one of most recognized and influential hunters of our time. Eva, his daughter, now 28 years old, has been following in Jim's footsteps but is, arguably, more recognized than Jim considering the number of Eva's social media followers. Eva has now entered into a new phase of her hunting career and life as she has broken away from the nest. Jim's start was far more humble than you might think- hunting was a means to food on the table, nothing more, and his deer camp as a child was a mobile home park he called home. Jim and Eva have a great camaraderie and cantor and we hear it all as we discuss their life journey. On this episode of Gritty Bowmen, we travel to Louisville Kentucky to attend the ATA trade show--ATA stands for Archery Trade Association. The ATA Trade Show is the archery and bowhunting industry’s LARGEST show. The show is a member-driven event to promote commerce within the archery and bowhunting industry. In today’s podcast we visit with Eva Shockey. Eva’s dad, Jim Shockey, is one of the most well-known hunters in the world. Today, Eva co-hosts "Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures" TV show and represents the Shockey family at outdoor trade and consumer shows. Eva was a breathe of fresh air. She was easy to talk to, down to earth, and an excellent ambassador for hunting--challenging the stereotypical image of the knuckle-dragging, fist pumping, male hunter; Eva makes it difficult for those against hunting to claim that hunters are uneducated, heartless, animal-hating human beings. And for this, I thank her. I hope you enjoy the show.

______________________________________________________________ Alright friends, thank you for supporting the show. If you’re a hard-core elk hunter or you want to be, or even if you just like to dream about elk hunting but not actually do it--go to the ELK101 website online and check them out. Our friend Corey Jacobsen is killing-it with some of the best elk-hunting information and entertainment on the web. Elk101 is a true gold-mine of all things elk. And Let me leave you with another great quote from Theodore Roosevelt who said, “It behooves every man to reemember that the work of the critic is of altogether secondary importance, and that, in the end, progress is accomplished by the man who does things.” We all have a choice--we can be people who do things or people who criticise the work of others. It’s pretty simple really.. don’t be jerk. And get out there and do your thing. Good luck on your hunts. And Stay Gritty!

The 2015 Archery Trade Show Association's Annual Trade Show has come and gone once again, but Jay and Dusty were able to capture the moment with an adventurous trek to the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Show was held this year from January 8-10 and is held each January for eager hunting apparell buyers and sellers to gawk and pitch the latest merchandise for the year. Anything and everything hunting is here and is the basis for what each outdoor retailer, large and small, will stock in their stores. A private show, it is only open to hunting industry insiders but for those that can attend, including celebrities, hunting television personalities, bloggers, writers and outdoor podcasters, it allows attendees a glimpse at what's NEW for 2015. Jay and Dusty report there findings and review the show in this episode of the Big Buck Registry's Deer Hunting Podcast.
