When it comes to difficult conversations, many people tend to avoid them. However, engaging in discussions with people who have differing opinions can be a beautiful thing, as long as you approach it with respect and understanding. It's okay to disagree with others, but it's important to show each other respect in the end, as this is a form of progress. In this episode, we hear from Sophie Beren, the founder of The Conversationalist, a non-partisan educational platform designed to empower Gen Z to unite the world through difficult conversations. Beren talks about how her article for Huffington Post inspired the creation of the platform and shares her tips for navigating tough topics. Hosted on Acast. Mark Twain also famously remarked, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a July afternoon in San Francisco…”The weather dunces rely on something called the European model, which assumes that so-called global warming is a done deal & that's a problem. In the digital world, we would express it this way: “garbage in — garbage out”. No computer can provide an analysis, it merely sorts the data. Analysis requires thought, and no computer can think.
Welcome back for season 2 of Everybody Talks! A podcast where we build rapport! This season will be guest heavy and actually focusing on building rapport and relating to one another. This episode is a little intro and update of what's up. New guest Next Episode, stayed tuned for that.
In today's episode everybody talks, and I say that because this week is filled with interviews. We started off with a ticket giveaway for Red Sky Performance's on Wednesday November 24th. After the announcement, we listened to three interviews: Serra's interviews with Alysha Collie about Virtual Humanity, Phoebe's interview with Christine Nielson and Serra's interview with Montana Lehmann and Kosta Lemermeyer about Studio 58's second show of the season "Everybody". After our three interviews, Lua and Serra talked about the Vancouver Christmas Market because they had a great time drinking mulled wine and listening to The Gingerbread Men perform.

The Jensens + Luminescence: Live at Yonder Festival, Mary Valley, 29 November 2019 Singer/guitarist Joe White first began making music after returning from a year spent living in Uganda with his parents on a Christian mission. He met bass player Bodi Lowrie and guitarist/vocalist Nathan Kendall while in high school on the Sunshine Coast and together they played in various projects as teenagers. Moving to Brisbane to study music at the Queensland University of Technology, White met guitarist Jordan Aston and drummer Phillip Fabros. Together, the five formed The Jensens in 2013. Their name was allegedly the only one of pages and pages of ideas that all five members could agree on, taken from a brand of speaker seen at a local music shop. Soon realising they were getting more out of music by playing it than studying it, they dropped out of uni to put more time into the band. The Jensens' early style could be characterised as boisterous indie rock, and they became a live mainstay around Brisbane and eventually Australia, playing festivals such as Valley Fiesta, The Blurst of Times, Deadlam, Jungle Love, The Big Pineapple Festival, Grampians Music Festival and Splendour in the Grass. The Jensens released the EPs "Everybody Talks" in 2016 and "Sexless" in 2017 before their music took on a larger scope with the albums "Hyacinth Haze" in 2019 and "Hammer & Blush" in 2021. The band's influences expanded and Joe White's lyrics began incorporating themes of conflict between his religious upbringing and his adult identity as a queer man. Luminescence are a Brisbane string group formed in 2018, covering classical, contemporary and experimental genres. They are made up of Toukie Wood and Liz Young on violins, and Emma Hales and Anitah Kumar on cellos, with Kumar also serving as the group's creative director. They have played several arts events, including GOMA Up Late, Anywhere Festival, Jungle Love and the Brisbane Street Art Festival. For the recording of The Jensens' second album, "Hammer & Blush", Luminescence were brought onboard to write and record string parts, and the sessions went so well they were invited to join The Jensens onstage for their appearance at Yonder Festival in 2019, where Luminescence were also performing a collaboration with artist/designer Chris Mangos. Accompanied by saxophonist Joel Aspinall, The Jensens and Luminescence delivered a unique performance for the Yonder crowd that Live Delay was very fortunate to capture for posterity. Recorded by Taine Josephson Mixed by Bodi Lowrie Show production, engineering and host: Scott Mercer Originally aired via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 4 July, 2021
Together with Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Loren Israel over Zoom video! Music industry veteran Loren Israel is well-known in industry circles as a record producer, A&R executive/consultant, and songwriting teacher. For over fifteen years, Loren worked in the Artist and Repertoire department of Capitol Records where he worked with Coldplay, Less Than Jake and Jimmy Eat World, whose multi-platinum Dreamworks album, Bleed American he helped spearhead. Welcome to Everbody Talks! These episodes are going to be super random and about whatever is happening or just kind of what I'm thinking about at the moment that I would like to share. Wanna be on the podcast? Maybe we can officially make it "Everybody Talks" if you're on here. No Pressure. But I'm cool with you listening for now! Last week, we left Deputy Sam Lewis and his new Assistant Deputy Janet Bukowski standing over a snow pit dug in a field of avalanche debris. They were staring at what appeared to be the first sign of suspected-blackmailer Elliot Steele, buried in the snow. Was the piece of fuschia-colored clothing Elliot, or yet another dead-end in their investigation of the serial murderer now known as the Sprucedale Sicko?Written for Big Sky Community Theatre by Barbara Rowley.
“A Level Presentation Of A Human Being” That’s how Tyler Glenn describes how after all this time of being in a band he’s finally arrived at a mindset that takes in both criticism and praise. Being level means he’s not dazzled by the positive or felled by the negative. “I don’t feed into the good or bad anymore,” he says. Well, when it comes to Neon Trees, there sure is a lot of good. The California born Glenn and his bandmates put out three albums in four years—2010’s Habits, 2012’s Picture Show and 2014’s Pop Psychology. And that concentrated level of activity yielded some pretty impressive results, like nabbing Billboard and BMI awards for the alternative chart topper "Animal," touring the world and opening for everyone from Duran Duran to the Flaming Lips to My Chemical Romance, playing the Macys Thanksgiving Parade, performing on Kimmel, Fallon, Leno and Letterman, doing an episode of Live From Daryls House, and having their single "Everybody Talks" in a commercial for the Buick Verano. And that’s just a partial list. Rather than me running through their Linked In profile, let me say this: Neon Trees are one of the most original, arresting and utterly satisfying bands on the planet. Every song has a perfect dose of edge, melody, musical precision and infectious choruses. Breaking a 6 year silence, they're back with I Can Feel you Forgetting Me, a sterling collection of one manic pop thrill after the other. From Nights to Everything Is Killing Me, Glenn and his bandmates swing freer than ever and it results in one of the very best albums of 2020. In this conversation Glenn talks to Alex about his love of The Smiths, how he’s coping with not performing, and how to retain an air of mystery while still being accessible to his fans. They also talk about the catharsis of both coming out and leaving the Mormon Church, why Springsteen is such a great performer and the perils of co-dependency….
The Beatles; y “The Sound of Music”, comp. Rodgers & Hammerstein.
He is an ASCAP, BMI and Billboard Music Award-winning, multi-platinum songwriter, producer, and musician. As the principal singer and songwriter for the band Sugarcult, he toured the world for more than a decade with multiple platinum-selling success. From there, his writing and production duties with Neon Trees spawned the hits “Animal," "Everybody Talks," and "Sleeping With A Friend”. He produced the Walk The Moon album ‘Talking Is Hard’- which included the chart-topping song "Shut Up and Dance”. And he has also worked with Weezer, Elle King, The Strumbellas and Coin. Most recently, Pagnotta produced and co-wrote two singles (“Blame It On My Youth” and “Happy Days”) from blink-182’s #1 Billboard Rock and Alternative album, Nine. Tim also co-wrote the new Weezer single, “End of the Game,” which is currently #8 on the Alternative Radio Chart. In total, his songs have sold in excess of 12 million copies worldwide and streamed over 1 billion times. In addition to producing and writing, he is also developing artists and writer / producers - and is also about to launch his publishing venture. And The Writer Is…Tim Pagnotta! This episode is sponsored by BMI. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Mark Twain once famously observed, “Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it.” The irony is, of course, there's nothing much you can do about it but grumble. That is perhaps where we are at with transportation, especially public transit, here in Massachusetts. The MBTA is getting a lot of attention in the gubernatorial race, with Democrat Jay Gonzalez constantly trying to hang the decaying system around Gov. Charlie Baker's neck. But for all the talk, it doesn't look like it's hurt Baker's standing among voters. Republican Jennifer Nassour and Democrat Jesse Mermell explored the phenomenon on their “Disagreeing Agreeably” program on The Codcast. They were joined by Pioneer Institute's Charlie Chieppo and Marc Ebuña, from TransitMatters, who had different, albeit not divergent, takes on the state of transportation and later, Rich Parr of MassINC Polling Group joined the conversation to talk about where transportation ranks in importance to voters.

This week on Ripley Radio, we look at a couple of Legends. Sideshow historian James Taylor introduces us to Francesco Lentini, a man with three legs who spent his life entertaining the weird and strange-seeking masses. David Marsh of Marsh’s Free Museum in Washington State, tells us about his most popular exhibit – the remains of Jake the Alligator Man. Other Strange Stories We Captured for the January 28 Episode: UFO Researcher of the Year and Huffington Post journalist, Lee Speigel, lists the top UFO stories of 2012; a sheriff’s deputy tells of a drug bust his department made and you’ll be surprised at what they found guarding the stash; Scott Fais and Ripley archivist Edward Meyer talk about the incredible and mysterious Coral Castle in Homestead, Florida; and Angela reports on how one man is the proof that vodka can make you blind, but whiskey can make you see again! The Neon Trees provide our musical egress this week with their big 2012 hit, Everybody Talks.
