In this Expat Money Show episode, I don't hold back. I'm going to tell you the truth about what's really happening in Canada, and why I believe it's no longer a place where you can build wealth or secure a future for your family. As someone born and raised in Canada, I've watched the country unravel. After visiting over 100 countries and planting roots in Panama, I can confidently say that it's time to leave. This isn't hyperbole, it's economic reality. From confiscatory taxes to a state-run suicide program, the Canadian government is accelerating its war on prosperity. I break down the numbers, expose the agenda, and give you a real path forward. It's time to craft your Plan-B while you still can. . . IN TODAY'S EPISODE: Discover why Canada's capital gains hike to 66.6% is more than symbolism—it's economic warfare. Learn how taxation, red tape, and public vilification have made Canada hostile to productivity. Hear why the Canadian dollar is failing by design, not by accident. Understand the truth behind the government's own 2040 foresight report, and why it reads like a suicide note. Explore the real story behind MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying) and how it exposes the welfare state's collapse. Examine why voting won't save Canadians, no matter the party—Carney vs. Poilievre is just theatre. See how universal basic income, CBDCs, and climate lockdowns are being preconditioned as “solutions.” Discover the best places to build a new life—Panama, Paraguay, and Costa Rica—and why they welcome expats. Get the truth about Canada's proposed $25,000 departure tax and what it means for your future. Tom Bodrovics, welcomes back Mikkel Thorup for an updated discussion on the increasing trend of moving and investing offshore due to negative developments in Western Countries like Canada and the USA. Mikkel highlights how political statements from leaders and the media could fuel the desire to leave these countries. He underscored the urgency of having a backup plan, given the potential increases in fees and taxes that could make leaving increasingly expensive. Mikkel expressed concerns over the rising costs of moving overseas and the increasing investment requirements for obtaining residency in some countries. He acknowledged the appeal of countries with attractive taxation, weather, and good economies. Mikkel advocates for individual freedom and the importance of making good decisions for ones families and investments. He lauded the efforts of the new presidents of El Salvador and Argentina in turning around their economies through libertarian policies, but remains cautious. Mikkel discusses his appreciation for various cultures, economic drivers, food, water, energy independence, and geopolitics when considering countries for expats. Italy and Ireland are amongst top countries for individuals with ancestry to apply for citizenship or residency due to their relatively straightforward processes. He shared real-life examples of clients obtaining Italian and Irish citizenship through ancestral connections. Mikkel discussed various aspects of international investment and taxation, including the process of withdrawing investments from Canada or the US without triggering capital gains taxes. Whether it's to militarize the public towards war or agitate their fear of a pandemic, it's shocking to think about how much of our behaviour is due to outside influences.  Listen to Kyle expertly break down the conflicts in the Middle East, centred around Israel and the Gaza Strip, and the various players involved as an extension of the conflicts, including Iran.  Learn about the heartbreaking consequences of war to civilians in the region, from famine to the spread of disease. Have you ever wished I would loosen up a little and tell you what I really think? I say this somewhat in jest, of course - long-time listeners know I am not really one to hold back and always strive to deliver my perspective in the most straightforward way possible. But I think you'll find in this episode that I let loose a bit more than normal as I joined my friend Adam Carswell on his live show “Ancap Radio” on Twitter (or X, which I'll never get used to saying…). I'm not sure what was in the air—perhaps it was the show's “live radio” format of the show—but I was in a certain kind of mood and really just let loose.  I had such a fun time chatting with Adam and going on a number of rants, so I just had to share this one with you today. There's even a special appearance from our mutual friend Doug Casey, who, of course, Expat Money Show listeners are more than familiar with.  Enjoy this one - we sure did! He has more than 30 years of experience in the offshore space since his first citizenship sale in 1997. Laszlo is a personal friend of mine and has been a mentor to me for a number of years. I invited Laszlo back to the show to discuss the various new immigration programs that have recently come out of his home country of Hungary. Who better than a Hungarian to help break it all down? You can come back to this later! HOW TO GET A BACKUP CITIZENSHIP OR RESIDENCY Confused about the lexicon or language when it comes to immigration? Many people are. This is the episode that you won't want to miss. I start with the most basic language, so you'll fully comprehend and understand it. I discuss the difference between temporary and permanent residencies and why they are so important to understand. The next step up is citizenship. What does this mean? What must you do or complete to become a citizen in a new country? Are you thinking about starting a family or having additional children? Listen as I talk about birth tourism and what it can mean for you and your family. One of my main focuses is on Residency by Investment. What does that look like, and how can you obtain one? What is a Golden Visa? You may have heard this phrase. The next piece of information I cover is Citizenship by Investment. The countries that offer it, and why I believe it is so important. I run through the countries that currently have citizenship by investment and the costs involved. Hear Antony describe the onset of the absurd COVID policies in his home country of Scotland and how that propelled him to take his business fully remote and to search for more sane parts of the world to reside in. Antony points out an interesting side benefit of the COVID travel restrictions - spending time in a place previously hadn't planned to - in this case, Mexico. Hear Antony describe how the “COVID years” altered people's sense of what they are allowed to say and has caused many to self-censor with friends, family and the workplace.  Antony describes the push for “subjectivity” within his education and profession, which is often a cover for leftist bias within institutions.  We discuss what it is like to hold “radical” (sane) positions in today's post-COVID clown world and how Antony helps people in his practice deal with this feeling of friends, family and institutions acting like they are the crazy ones.  Antony and I discuss the concept of natural law and why so many libertarians were able to see through much of the BS of the last several years due to their ability to filter things through the natural law model. TODAY'S DISCUSSION ON BRAZILIAN BEACHFRONT REAL ESTATE WITH 12% NET RETURNS Listen in as John explains why when it comes to real estate, he advises not thinking outside the box but thinking outside the country. Find out how you can use this strategy to “supercharge” your retirement portfolio. Learn the secrets of why Brazil is literally a buyer's market right now. John and his daughter Morgan address the most common question they get about Brazil: “Is it a safe place to go?” Rio and Sao Paulo get all the love, but wait until you hear about this incredible tourist location in Brazil that you've probably never heard of! What is the secret to earning consistent rental income? John unveils the key metric he uses to determine where to buy. John and Morgan address another common first-world question: “What do I do without Walmart and Costco?” Learn how you could lead a world-class lifestyle in Brazil for a fraction of the money it would cost elsewhere. Today's guest on the Expat Money Show is John Perkins. John is the author of the legendary book “Confessions of an Economic Hitman” and first appeared on the show way back in Episode 71. He has now published an updated version of the book titled Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, 3rd Edition – China's EHM Strategy; Ways to Stop the Global Takeover, featuring 12 new chapters breaking down how China has essentially become the world's “economic hitman.” Longtime listeners will surely recognize that John and I share some differing world views, and I certainly do not endorse his beliefs on things like white supremacy, climate change, vegetarianism and feminism, to name a few. Nonetheless, his experience and insights are incredibly valuable, and you will certainly learn a ton from this conversation.  TODAY'S CONVERSATION WITH JOHN PERKINS: Listen in to hear John explain in detail what an “Economic Hitman” - or “EHM” strategy is from his own personal experience implementing it on behalf of first-world nations and banking elites and how he came to understand the dark side of what he was doing.  John details the predatory nature of the EHM strategy and the devastating effects it has had on third-world nations. You won't believe the shocking statistics about the average age in Africa.   Hear John reveal the nefarious methods the EHM strategists use to manipulate statistics like GDP to display positive effects on the economy while the underlying reality paints a much bleaker picture for the citizens of the nations targeted by it. Then we discuss  the difference between honest entrepreneurship - the kind that I practice in my business - and “cronyism” or “predatory capitalism.” John explains how China has shifted its own economic hitman strategy under President Xi Jinping over the last ten years and their nefarious motivations for doing so.  We dig into what John describes as the “death economy” - as the EHM competition between the leaders of China and the United States wreaks economic havoc across the globe. John and I further discuss current global political issues and the different levels of attention conflicts in Ukraine and Yemen receive from the media and the general public. John drives home how many individuals have embraced changes in the last three years and the need to change our perception of our current socio-economic and governmental systems. We discuss the very different perceptions of “success” in Latin America and how things like spending time with family and friends often take higher priority than the gain of material goods in that region.  Lastly, we discuss China's increasingly interwoven relationship with Latin America and the impacts, both positive...

Today's guest on the Expat Money Show is Jonathan Lockwood, a pro voice over talent originally from Detroit and currently living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He now spends his spare time venturing deep into the Mexican countryside and finding amazing artisanal mezcal.  I enjoyed getting to know Jonathan and you are going to learn a ton from this conversation. TODAY'S CONVERSATION WITH JONATHAN: Listen in to hear Jon share the story of how he grew up in an apocalyptic religious cult and how he “woke up” from the brainwashing, which helped him to see that things are not always as they seem. Jon describes how foreseeing the forthcoming fiscal nightmare in the United States led him to explore other options outside of his home country. Hear Jon describe the striking similarities with how politics created divisiveness in families over the last several years to his own experience rejecting the beliefs his family had raised him to hold.  We dig into our shared belief that it's important not to condemn others for being behind where you are at any given moment in life.  Then we discuss how Jon wound up choosing San Miguel de Allende, Mexico as his home, where he now lives with his wife and their daughter.  Learn what Jon views as the surprising advantage of living in a country with an extremely inefficient government.  Jon relays a hilarious experience he had when he first attempted to speak Spanish upon arriving in Mexico - he had me stitches! We discuss the concept of “stacking freedom” as opposed to trying to find a “Shangri-La”, and how not to become paralyzed by the fear of making the wrong decision. Jon goes into detail describing the “melting pot” city of San Miguel de Allende, and how the locals have responded to the always-growing expat community there. You'll be wanting to book your trip to San Miguel after hearing this! Then we discuss how Jonathan developed a passion for artisanal Mezcal that he sources from “the Disneyland of Mezcal” in Oaxaca, Mexico. I learned so much about Mezcal that I never knew before! Today on the Expat Money Show, I am going to share a conversation I had last year on The Tom Woods Show. This interview has gotten such a great response since it first aired that I wanted to share it here with you to make sure you didn't miss it. Tom didn't let me off easy and really put me on the hot seat, bringing up a ton of objections that many who are first hearing about the expat lifestyle tend to come up with. Answering Common Expat Objections In this discussion, I respond to some common “black pilled" takes that Tom has heard about the negative side of expatriation, dispelling the notion that the advantages you can achieve outside your country of birth aren't all that great when you break it down. There is no Shangri-La - no perfect libertarian country in the world. It does not exist. But that's not to be said that we can't get more freedom in our lives by being overseas or by jurisdiction shopping. I explain to Tom exactly what FATCA - the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act -  is and how it works, and why it's even caused some Americans to go as far as to renounce their U.S. citizenship! I address Tom's concern that whatever problems you have in the U.S., they may very well be worse outside the U.S., as was the case in certain countries when it came to COVID restrictions. Tom and I talk about how Americans can utilize the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion to greatly reduce their tax burden while living overseas. I break down the concept of citizenship by investment and how the process typically unfolds for those with substantial funds to invest overseas. I lay out the many reasons to have a second passport, even if you do not plan to live outside your home country! I provide some definitive first steps to take for those that have caught the expat bug and are ready to take their expat journey to the next level. In today's episode of The Expat Money Show, I am going to recap the last incredible week in Panama, beginning with a hugely informative conference for private clients and culminating in my 40th birthday party. Really the last week has been truly unbelievable. We had clients fly in from every corner of the world, literally from everywhere. I am still decompressing from a busy and eventful week, but I wanted to first stop and take the time to record this episode for you and update you all on some other goings on here at Expat Money while everything is fresh on my mind.  PANAMA CONFERENCE AND BIRTHDAY PARTY RECAP I recap the start of the week with the investor's conference I put on in Panama with private clients from diverse places like Germany, Thailand and New Zealand attending. I explain the difference between my "private" clients and my "regular" clients and how you can become one! This week highlights why I like to get to know my prospective clients personally before I take them on  - because I spend a LOT of time with them! The type of information provided at this conference would literally take months or even years of research to acquire on your own - offshore investing and residency is definitely not a 'DIY' type of thing. Meanwhile, we also formally launched The Expats Guide on Moving to Mexico, which has already launched to #1 in the "libertarianism" category on Amazon! I also provide a preview of the upcoming trips I am planning in the next year for private clients. If these sounds interesting to you, read this important letter and consider if becoming a private is a good fit for you. Finally, I reflect on my 40th birthday party that was made so special by the 150 + attendees who travelled from places like Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, the UK, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, USA, etc. - all culminating in an amazing fireworks display! Ultimately, these events are about building a community and realizing that we aren't the crazy ones out there. We in the Expat Money community are building a better and brighter future for ourselves while much of the world goes mad. I know the issue of privacy is of utmost importance to Expat Money Show listeners, and today's episode will open your eyes to how your phone tracks you every single day and the actionable steps you can take to stop it. How to Stop Your Phone From Spying on You If you've long suspected your phone is spying on you, trust us, it is. Today's episode will give you the tools you need to begin to fight back. Ramiro delves into his background as a software engineer and how he realized the Big Tech companies are a part of the privacy problem. I discuss with Ramiro how he decided to shift his priorities and help build systems outside of Big Tech's grasp and bring heart back to their technology, quitting his job to become a full-time activist in movements such as the Freedom Cell Network before founding Above Agency in 2021. Ramiro breaks down how his software team went about creating Above Phone by “De-Googling” their phone and using open-source software to tweak existing open-source platforms We discuss in detail why having a privacy phone is so important and how Big Tech companies track everything you do because YOU are the product. Ramiro shares some SHOCKING examples of how innocent lives have been affected by big-tech spying. I discuss with Ramiro the 3 layers of tracking through the Operating Systems, the apps and the telecom companies.  We look at one of the most common questions Ramiro fields regarding why they use “the Devil” aka Google to build a privacy phone instead of using Linux or another system? Ramiro and I examine why it's important to accept incremental steps in taking privacy back and not let the lack of the perfect tool prevent you from taking any precautions against Big Tech. We examine how even “privacy” companies track and mine data from their users and make false claims about their products while portraying a privacy face on the surface. Ramiro gives an on-screen demonstration of how some of the available apps work - this is a great reason to head over and watch the video on the Expat Money YouTube channel! We even learn how it's possible to use a phone without being exposed to ANY EMF at all by using an ethernet adaptor! This blew me away! Today on the Expat Money Show, I want to go back to basics and ensure that everybody understands the terms we discussed so that you can make the right decision for yourself and your family if you decide to become an Expat and plan for the future. I realize that not everyone understands the verbiage and lexicon that immigration entails. There are many different types of immigration visas; there is not a one size fits all approach to this. IMMIGRATION BACK TO BASICS Confused about the lexicon or language when it comes to immigration? CONCLUSION I hope today's episode was beneficial to you and works as a real complement to the three-hour workshop I did on Saturday. If you have more questions after watching the presentation and want to go through the CBI programs we discussed and join me on some of these things, there's a special email address just for people who registered and attended that presentation.
