He shares his insights on the importance of taking time for oneself and the challenges of balancing work and personal life. Bob also delves into the concept of leadership and the value of doing less to achieve more. Additionally, he reflects on his role as a parent and the lessons he has learned along the way. The conversation covers various themes, including learning from experiences, passing on experiences to future generations, the transition phase and keeping struggles to yourself, misunderstanding responsibility, avoiding letting people down, positive reactions to sharing struggles, asking for help and community support, deciding what tasks to delegate, reflecting on past choices, deciding how you want your life to be, the value of effort and reward, and parting words of wisdom. Takeaways Finding a balance between work and personal life is crucial for overall well-being and productivity. Leadership is about serving and supporting others, rather than exerting control or authority. Taking time for oneself is essential for personal growth and creativity. Parenting involves continuous learning and adapting to the unique needs of each child. Learn from your experiences and use them to grow and improve. Share your experiences with others, especially future generations, to help them navigate similar challenges. Don't be afraid to ask for help and seek support from your community. Recognize your strengths and weaknesses and delegate tasks accordingly. Reflect on your past choices and learn from them, but also appreciate the experiences and opportunities they have brought you. Focus on what truly matters in life and prioritize your time and energy accordingly. Last week we checked in with Chi-town's king of living Vic Spenser and this week we talk to Windy City producer Maker. If you have heard the theme song to the hit sitcom Abbott Elementary you have heard Makers work but he has been a fixture in the underground for a couple of decades now. He talked to us about getting this huge beat placement as well as his approach to creating immaculate remixes. The three bad brothers that you know so well (Nate LeBlanc, Demone Carter, and David Ma) start off the episode by talking about the brilliant new record King Cobra from Baltimore-based producer/emcee duo Infinity Knives & Brian Ennals. The number one thing the enemy would like to get us to do is quit.  It could be something simple like a job or an activity, or it may be something bigger like your dream or your faith relationship or marriage or even, in some extreme circumstances, your will to live. You could decide to quit fighting and give in.  When you think about quitting, then you begin to talk about quitting.  Thoughts are often accompanied by words of what you are thinking, and then eventually, that is followed up with actions, and be assured that eventually, you will quit. So, how do we know when we should step away from something and when we're just letting ourselves get the best of ourselves?   In this fifth and final part of the series "Best. Summer. Ever.", I will be sharing about the reality of how we feel and what we do when we feel like that work/life balance just isn't reachable, and we just have to quit or step away from something.  Sometimes it makes sense for us to, but most of the time it's us allowing the temporary to make decisions that will affect the permanent. This is Part 5 in the series "Best. Summer. Ever."  Other episodes in the series include the following:Part 1 - Take a Walk (released 6/20/22) Part 2 - Work in the Garden (released 6/27/22)Part 3 - Make Stuff (released 7/4/22)Part 4 - Family Game Night (released 7/11/22)

Our family loves to play games.  Whether it's card games, board games, puzzles, or something else, intentional family time and periods where I take a rest are essential.  We get SO MANY ideas, so much excitement, so much desire to do, to make, to create… that we find ourselves almost doing too much.  In this fourth part of the series "Best. Summer. Ever." I will be sharing about finding a work/life balance.  We need to know and follow our calling.  But when we make it all about us, it makes it more difficult for us to manage, and takes us down a rabbit hole that we think is hard to dig out of.  When we make Christ the center of everything, we know what we need to do and we understand when we need to leave room for margin in our lives. This is Part 4 in the series "Best. Summer. Ever."  Other episodes in the series include the following:Part 1 - Take a Walk (released 6/20/22) Part 2 - Work in the Garden (released 6/27/22)Part 3 - Make Stuff (released 7/4/22)Part 5 - Nap Time

I am a creator - I write music, I make videos, I take pictures, and though I'm not crafty or necessarily super handy, I love to dabble in that kind of stuff… But I don't always do everything I know I need to.  How many times do we find ourselves excited for a project, an activity, or an experience, but seemingly unmotivated to move forward with much of what we're excited about?  It's too hard - I'm comfortable right where I am - that's a good idea, but I'm good where I am… I know it needs done, but I'd rather do something else.  In this third part of the series "Best. Summer. Ever.", I will be sharing this week about why using your creativity is important to God.  The Scriptures spell out in numerous places about why it's important for us to use what God has given to us to create, and "Make Stuff".  And don't worry - this week's episode is not a command to go run yourself ragged - we'll talk about work/life balance in part 4 next week.  :)This is Part 3 in the series "Best. This book, set in a dystopian future, focuses on Wade Watts and his hunt for the Easter egg that was left by James Halliday upon his death. Finding the Easter egg would make Wade the inheritor of Halliday's fortune and the OASIS itself, a virtual reality that basically everyone on the planet uses to escape from their reality of poverty, energy crisis, and global warming. Wade spends all his time combing through films, music, TV, and videogames from the 80s, and repeatedly reads Anorack's Almanac, written by Halliday himself. All in the hopes of decoding the clue to the Copper Key, the first of three that must be found to find the egg. Wade finds himself in a race against other players and Innovative Online Industries (IOI), a corporation that wants to control to OASIS and is willing to play real dirty to win.Is our world heading toward a fully virtual culture? You know how inspired you get when you have a new idea? Maybe you're on a train to work, or in the middle of making a thousand lattes, or taking a long line of orders from pandemic-maddened drive-through customers desperate for an order of fries. Maybe you're in the middle of negotiating a deal that's probably going to make someone a lot of money, but it won't be you, and you're taking a minute in the bathroom for a few deep breaths when BAM the idea hits you right in the face, and it's so clear you could do it right NOW if you weren't in the middle of all these other things. We all know that feeling, right? So why does it so often end with a big dose of MEH when you finally get a chance to do the thing? If you've got a topic you want Creaductivity to dive into, please DM me on Twitter @Kris_Ripper or email me at kris@krisripper.com. Thanks for listening!
