To end their "Politics" cycle, Madeline, Julian and Emilio put a different spin on their Close Up episode format by looking at three different actors' portrayal of one real-life political figure, former President Richard M. Nixon. The group welcomes in another Richard - Madeline's dad! - a retired history teacher and Watergate buff, to give these films and performances some important historical context. They discuss Oliver Stone's sprawling biopic 'Nixon' from 1995, the several stages of Nixon's political and private life depicted with impressive realism by Anthony Hopkins, and what is gained and lost when a film has such a wide scope. Next is 'Dick', Andrew Fleming's 1999 farcical reimagining of the Watergate scandal with Dan Hedaya as Nixon, where the group discusses the importance of mining politicians for humor. They close their discussion with a look at Ron Howard's 2008 film 'Frost/Nixon', featuring Frank Langella as Nixon, and consider where and when its helpful for creative liberties to be taken to depict real-life people and events. The game? You play a little kid on a trike, peddaling around a bendy maze collecting flowers to give to a little friend on a bonus screen. Knock baddies off the road with the bendy barriers in the maze. The name of it – oh, SPATTER, obviously. Huh? Too cute for words and obviously made by the creators of Flicky (see podcast 54) “There's no walls in the sky” – True dat, mother.
A miracle has happened... sort of... right? Flicky Ben nee Tinderson has been resurrected and with the force of unstoppable demented lake captain, he sets off in search of his one true love... and his boat! He's hot (because walking is a lot of exercise) on the trail of his wife but will he find her and what will he learn on his journey to the capital city...Back in March, we ran a one shot in aid of the Irish Cancer Society; through donations and a poll, the audience deemed that ne'er do well captain and Kobold, Flicky should be returned to life. This episode is our thanks (we're sorry) to all those who donated, shared, watched and took part in that game.Follow us on Twitter @D8DungeonJoin our Discord for more shenanigans! Are you following us on Twitch? In this episode, hosts Chris and Dutch engage in diverse and captivating discussions, touching on various intriguing topics. They discuss their interactions, being banned from Twitter, and the concept of pursuing passions with the belief that money will follow. They also explore the unreliability of success literature and the rebranding of Twitter to "X." Conspiracy theories, movies, and the nature of reality become focal points of discussion as Chris and Dutch share their thoughts and opinions, delving into different ideas and perspectives. Dutch and Chris continue their exploration, contemplating the concept of time, the quantum realm, and the possibility of existence in a regression. They also discuss opera and the idea of combining unrelated elements to create something new and unique. The use of AI in executing ideas rather than generating them takes center stage, with specific AI tools like Licky and Flicky being mentioned for creating podcasts and book outlines. The hosts reflect on their thrilling experiences with extreme activities such as bungee jumping, zip-lining, and rappelling. They share their feelings of fear, exhilaration, and moments of vulnerability, ultimately finding these adventures to be rewarding and unforgettable. The episode concludes with Chris's unexpected social media success after a casual tweet to an unknown Twitter account called FailWail, gaining over 50,000 views. He now contemplates leveraging this sudden attention and potentially becoming an influencer.

Nintendo has announced the NES Mini console with 30 built-in games this holiday season. Sega's firing back by putting the Genesis back into production. So the debate this week is: WHICH IS BETTER? SEGA OR NINTENDO? Comedian Kirk Wilcox from Carnegie Times joins us this week to discuss the classic debate: Nintendo vs Sega. But no console debate is complete without being sandwiched in a passionate debate about Hamilton the Musical, courtesy of Rucka and I. Plus another impromptu debate after the credits. This episode is like a debate threesome where everybody cums. Speaking of satisfaction, we're also proud to welcome back Casper to the Madcast Media Network with financing through Affirm: http://www.casper.com/madcast Go to http://www.casper.com/madcast and choose "Pay with Affirm" at checkout. Thanks to everyone for supporting the show! Which console had the best games? Rucka seems to think that all of the Nintendo games were shit other than Mario. That's it. Here's Metroid on NES versus Alex Kidd and Flicky on Genesis: https://rss.madcastmedia.com/bestdebate/25/e25_games.jpg Remember Flicky? No? Nobody does.
