Happy weekend Nudist, In this week's episode I got the chance to co-host with the lovely NiiLee again and I am so excited. I have been seeing so much content centered around “sassy men”. I have so many thoughts and feelings about this topic because I feel like it's so problematic. Take a listen to this week's episode as NiiLee helps me break down the toxic masculinity that our femme community has been using against their male counterparts in today's society.

Wife and Husband film fans Natalie and Bobby trawl their gargantuan DVD collection and check out the lowest rated movies they own. Hoping for the old Hollywood glamour rather than the American Pie cover, they give birth to the 2.0* rated on Letterboxd The Next Best Thing. They discuss British Madonna, queer mainstream melodrama, rippling abs and the master John Schlesinger. "It's when two boys kiss and they go to the opera.” Enjoy the pod if not the Gay / Straight romcom that actually isn't that at all.
Since our guest has written today's book, recent studies strengthen the idea that gay people differ from straight people in more than the direction of their sexual feelings. There is great diversity among lesbians and gay men, to be sure, but in general, homosexuality is part of a collection of gender-atypical traits, just as heterosexuality is part of a collection of gender-typical traits. These different “packages” arise because the sexual differentiation of the brain goes forward differently in individuals destined to become gay adults as compared with their same-sex heterosexual peers. Differences in genes, sex hormones, and their interactions with the developing brain are what cause this divergence. How can Gay-Straight alliances support students and make schools more inclusive spaces for all? Today on the show I speak with GSA advisor and coach James Potteiger There is a lot happening in schools right now that put our LGBTQ students at risk. So I'm thrilled to get to share this conversation I had with James about his work with GSAs. James has been running at GSA at his school in Pennsylvania for the past two years and he shares the ways the alliance has improved his school for all students, the role that the GSA plays for young people in his school, and James' journey towards running the GSA––which is especially powerful to hear since he identifies as a straight, white, cis-gender man with an Evangelical background. I left this conversation feeling inspired, hopeful, and so deeply grateful for how people like James are making all of our schools better places. Sammie Howell was one of the progressive pillars of her class of 2010. She went from "on fire" somewhat conservative evangelical to firebrand progressive warrior in her four years at APU. From the very beginning of her experience, she found herself on the outside of APU's white, wealthy culture. After an early incident where a fellow student asked her if she knew how to use chopsticks (Filipinos don't use chopsticks for their food), she found APASO (Asian Pacific American Student Org) and began her growth into a badass leader in a sort of Multi Ethnic Org renaissance. In addition to her work and advocacy for race issues, she joined the newly formed Gay/Straight alliance, even taking great risk in lending her apartment as the secret meeting space. If we had been found out, we would have faced grave consequences, as we had members of student government, RA's, and...a faculty member at those meetings. There is a surprise at the end of the episode that both gives a glimpse into Sammie's strength, pain, and love, while at the same time making the case that white evangelical spaces are not safe for those on the margins. Per usual, we are out of our minds in this episode. Jim had WAY to much to drink before hand and brings you an unhinged unicorn with a magic attitude. The Miz is really upset (to put it lightly) about people who still refuse to see how vile and nasty the United States has become. He also says if it were not for social issues he would probably lean more conservative. Bobby & Jim talk about growing up republican and closeted and what it means now when they see people they grew up with, who have not experienced much other than their hometown, believe gross lies and have to hear loved ones talk really ugly. Bobby calls out his cousin for talking about his weight only to realize they both talk shit about each other in a funny exchange. Jim brings up a viral challenge that has us rolling on the floor with laughter. Of course we talk about stuff for the girls and the gays in funny exchanges. This week, oh this week. Its a doozy, I just hope you guys laugh as much as we did editing this. For more exclusive material, video's, extra content, see our patreon. www.patreon.com/shesnotdoingsowellFollow us on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/shesnotdoingsowell/Go to our website and buy our merchhttp://www.shesnotdoingsowell.comPlease share with your friends and make sure you rate and subscribe! Alice Ripley is one of the heavyweights of American Musical Theatre. A Tony winner for her star-turn as Diana in the Pulitzer Prize winning musical “Next to Normal,” Alice Ripley is known world-wide for showstopping roles, including those in Side Show (for which she was also Tony nominated, alongside Emily Skinner), The Rocky Horror Show, The Who’s Tommy, Les Miserables, James Joyce’s The Dead, Sunset Boulevard, and American Psycho. She is here today promoting a one-woman monologue show, "The Pink Unicorn," at The Cell, a 60-seat venue in Chelsea. In “The Pink Unicorn,” from Out of the Box Theatrics, Alice plays Trisha Lee, a Christian widow in Texas whose world is shaken when her 14-year-old child, Jolene, announces that they are not in fact female but instead genderqueer, changing their name to Jo, launching a Gay/Straight alliance, and introducing their mom to the concept of gender-neutral pronouns. Trisha is totally thrown for a loop, hurled out of her comfort zone — and the show takes all of us though the complex journey of navigating the conservative community as well as her own biases, and the challenges of loving and accepting a child who defies expectations in service of being themselves. To quote Hunter Bell & Jeff Bowen’s quirky, brilliant musical [title of show]: ALICE RIPLEY, SHE’S FIERCE!

On this episode of the God Pod we talk about - Energy Curation, Getting back to Nature and the fallacy that is Sexual Orientation
About the Performance: This production contains extreme sexually explicit images from the Robert Mapplethorpe collection that may be inappropriate for attendees under 18. Discretion is advised. Thirty years after the death of Robert Mapplethorpe, we still cannot turn away from what his photos reveal. Composer Bryce Dessner, Librettist Korde Arrington Tuttle, and director Kaneza Schaal in collaboration with Roomful of Teeth and a musical ensemble of 12 players explore the ways Mapplethorpe's works compel an audience's complicity and characterizes them in the act of attention. As a young man growing up in Cincinnati, Dessner's own exposure to the protests surrounding this galvanizing artist rooted a lifelong kinship to his pivotal body of work. Mapplethorpe's pictures both unite and divide viewers, provoking a consideration of perceived opposites–their literal as well emotional and cultural meanings – Black/White, Male/Female, Gay/Straight, Art/Porn, Classical/Contemporary. His pictures seduce, shock, offend, excite, intrigue and scare us all at once. Single images take our breath away through the classic capture of everyday acts of nature and the beauty of their composition. On the other hand, a single image has the power to reveal our fears and our desires and the razor-thin line between the two. We confront this work privately, flipping through coffee table books or seeing the work in a museum gallery. But in Triptych (Eyes of One on Another), Dessner, Tuttle & Schaal ask an audience to experience these reactions collectively. Through music, projection of Mapplethorpe's images, and the poetry of Tuttle, Essex Hemphill and Patti Smith, the work puts the audience inside the artist's view finder, inside his beautiful, bold, voracious view of how nature and humans look, touch, feel, hurt and love one another. HIGH HORSE RADIO 'At times enlightening, often disturbing, no race or creed is spared, come laugh and learn as your favourite politically incorrect sociologists smack down truth like communist China smacks down dissent'... A first time panel for this our latest instalment of High Horse Radio. It's a bizarre episode, offbeat, obscure, but most of all never boring, with a unique first time panel consisting of two straight men, alongside two gay men, with one of the straight guys being the son of a pastor (he's nothing like you'd expect tho, he thinks for himself instead of obeying some delusional fantasy book that's been rewritten more times than I've taken a crap). We then discuss the polarising topic of marriage equality in Australia and how the progressive nations of the world see us as 'embarrassing ourselves' with our outdated conservative policies. We are a compassionate country with a lot to be proud of, however this argument against is just delaying the inevitable. I hope the miserable baby boomers that are vehemently against it die knowing that it's coming whether they like it or not. You'll be dead soon and the ass's will continue getting dick's put into them at a rapid rate...ah good times. Hope you enjoy this spirited discussion on what really is a basic human right, afforded to some but not all. So what it all comes down to my friends, is that, basically, it's that last attempt of the desperate to continue with their outdated, Oppression Olympics, through the use of a populist vote/plebiscite. Will marriage equality pass in Australia? the panel here at High Horse Radio sure as hell think that it should. #VoteYes This episode also features one of our oldest and longest running segments, it's.....da da dot points, da da da dot points! - Last meals of infamous serial killers, Seaworld Extinct soon?!, Old large Mushrooms, Selling children on Ebay, Helium balloons to one day cost $90 each. Can gay and straight men be friends? My old pal Sam and I explore our personal path as proof we can.
Male sexuality can express itself in ways that may be difficult to understand to the general population. Many marriages have been hurriedly terminated when couples (and their therapists) have lacked the information they needed to understand their current situations when male sexuality is being expressed in alternative ways. Dr Joe Kort, who joined us in episode #8 speaking about gay affirmative therapy for the straight clinician, has recently written the book: Is My Husband Gay, Straight or Bi? A Guide for Concerned Women as a guide to help couples understand how male sexuality. This book provides the clarity, describes the choices, and (in many cases) offers hope for relationships and marriages that have been brushed off as doomed. In our latest podcast interview, Dr Kort discusses: What inspired him to write his new book Is My Husband Gay, Straight, or Bi? A Guide for Concerned Women Whether we can clearly differentiate sexual orientation between bi, gay and straight The four question test he uses to determine a person's sexual orientation What the term heteroflexible means and how recent generations are embracing this new sexuality If it's possible for a person's sexual orientation to change throughout their lifetime Advice he gives women who discover their husband or partner is watching gay porn or having sex with men The psychology of men who express their sexuality through having sex with men, but don't consider themselves gay Whether women's sexuality is more fluid than men, or if this is just a myth If a marriage can survive when the husband has been discovered secretly having sex with men How he works with couples when there is concern about the sexuality or sexual orientation of the male partner
