"If you don't impact your environment, your environment's going to impact you." That's how Glenn Wilson, President and CEO of Communities First Inc., sets the tone in this powerful Detroit is Different episode. What started as a casual connection in New Orleans blossoms into a deeply honest conversation about housing, healing, and hope. Glenn shares the raw journey from surviving a childhood house fire in Flint to leading a multi-state nonprofit developing thousands of affordable housing units. From reflections on faith—"Statistically, I shouldn't be here"—to breaking down what “capital stack” really means in community development, this interview is a must-listen. With tales of hot plates on broken stoves, bird nests in rooftops, and turning trauma into mission, Glenn reminds us: “The very things we take for granted are the very things people pray for.” This is about more than real estate—this is about legacy, trust, and doing the work. "It's not about being a gatekeeper. It's about being a gate opener.” Detroit is Different is a podcast hosted by Khary Frazier covering people adding to the culture of an American Classic city. TGLP Spotlight: Simon Phillips. TGLP Spotlight Series is where my friends and i sit down and talk about our favourite musicians. Be it local, be it worldwide. Musicians that have influenced us, inspired us, impacted us as musicians ourselves. We talk about their careers, their music, their legacy. This is not a new concept, nor are we changing the game here. We are just hanging out, bouncing stories of each other, sharing information that the others may not have known. But in the process, adding to the legacy of these brilliant musicians. So todays episode is all about legendary British drummer, producer and audio engineer, Simon Phillips. Simon has played and recorded with Pete Townshend, The Who, Judas Priest, Toto, Mike Oldfield, Hiromi, Jeff Beck, Jack Bruce, Nik Kershaw to name few. Simon has also had a very successful solo career as well as being at the top of his game as an audio engineer. Joining me today to talk about Simon Phillips are 3 outstanding drummers, and friends of mine: Lance Philip, Gordon Rytmeister and Glenn Wilson. We have all chosen a bunch of songs that Simon Phillips has played on, and not necessarily the songs you would expect either. We will listen to parts of those songs and give our take on them. We'll talk about his influence, his sound, his legacy and hopefully do our bit too add to that legacy. So now, ladies and gentleman, its time to turn the TGLP Spotlight onto the great Simon Phillips. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click here to securely donate or tip The Gig Life Podcast via PayPal. In this episode, Steve and Glenn speak with Ed Tucker and Gary Robinson about the differences between DevSecOps personas.DevSecOps Personas – what Developers, Security, and Operations think when it comes to people/tech/processes/culture when it comes to rolling out DevSecOps programs. Each of these teams have different drivers, ambitions, blockers, and challenges when it comes to a successful DevSecOps program. As Dale Carnegie said, ‘The only way to get anyone to do anything, is to make them want to do it' - all the tech and process in the world isn't going to make it successful if the people and culture (and heart) are not in it. So let's share what we've seen from 100s of company interactions, understand better where everyone is coming from, and how to approach a DevSecOps program that can move the needle like Marty McFly playing Doc Brown's guitar. We've love this to be interactive, so bring your stories and questions.Gary Robinson has been working in software and cyber security for 20+ years, as a coder, pen tester, consultant, Security Architect at Citi, Global Board member at OWASP, and heading up Uleska to focus on DevSecOps for the last 5 years. Gary's focused on the people, process, technology, and culture aspect of DevSecOps – as someone who's worked in all three spaces during his time – and what drivers, blockers, etc each experience with ‘DevSecOps', ‘shift-left', ‘secure by design', and the rest.Ed Tucker is an exceptional Cyber Security leader, with extensive knowledge across most sectors, as a defender, vendor, consultant and founder. He was the 2017 European Chief Information Security Officer of the Year, UK Security Professional of the Year, and Security Leader of the Year and has been globally recognised for his vision and delivery.Your HostsSteve Giguere: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevegiguere/Glenn Wilson: https://www.linkedin.com/in/glennwilson/DevSecOps - London GatheringKeep in touch with our events associated with this podcast.https://www.meetup.com/DevSecOps-London-Gathering/https://twitter.com/DevSecOps_LGhttps://www.youtube.com/c/DevSecOpsLondonGathering
