This week, Cox easily defeated a far-right opponent in the Republican primary. So too did a slate of other Utah Republicans. While national Republicans continue to move in Trump's direction, in Utah, the Romney faction of the GOP is still holding its own. On this episode of Deep Dive, Cox joins host and Playbook co-author Ryan Lizza to discuss Utah politics, as well as Cox's disagreements with Trump; how he's preparing to be cast as MAGA's next boogeyman; what he thinks Trump's other Republican critics, such as Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, get wrong; and why “disagreeing better” doesn't mean giving up your most strongly held beliefs. Why Ohio GOP Governor vetoed anti-transgender bill Conservatives in America are grappling with why Ohio's Republican Governor Mike DeWine vetoed a bill that would have disallowed puberty blockers for children, and banning boys, pretending to be girls, from playing on girls sports teams in public schools. According to the Federalist Papers, it turns out Governor DeWine received $40,300 from the Ohio Children's Hospital Association, Cincinnati Children's, Nationwide Children's Hospital, and ProMedica Children's Hospital for his election campaign. The president of Ohio Children's Hospital Association, Nick Lashutka, had testified against the Republican bill in the House, the bill which the Governor subsequently vetoed. To register your objection, send Governor DeWine an email through a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. Or send a letter to Governor Mike DeWine, 77 South High Street, 30th Floor, Columbus, OH 43215. U.S. stock compared to global stocks Are American stocks overvalued? The NASDAQ stock index has hit an all-time high, closing Friday at 16,826. That's up from 1,204 in 2009, a 14-fold increase. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed for the year 2023 at 37,690, up from 7,060 in 2009. That's a 5-fold increase. Meanwhile, almost every other stock market in the world hasn't come close to these valuations. WolfStreet.com reports that the Chinese Shanghai composite is still where it was in 2009. Japan's Nikkei is leveled off where the index stood in 1989. The UK FTSE Index is up about 50% since 2009. Spain's IBEX index is still where it was sitting in 2009. Canada's Index is up about 40% from 2008. Economist predicts 2024 “biggest single crash year in our lifetimes” Is the American industry really doing 20 to 100 times better than England, China, and Japan? U.S. economist Harry Dent told Fox Business: “Since 2009, this has been a 100% artificial [economy], with unprecedented money printing and deficits; $27 trillion over 15 years, to be exact. … We're in a dangerous state. 2024 is going to be the biggest single crash year we'll see in our lifetimes." The economist forecasts an 86% crash in the S&P, a 92% crash in the NASDAQ, 96% for crypto, and significant deflation on housing prices. But Jesus said, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” (Luke 12:15) Our Savior also said, “Lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21) Taylor Swift: Time's Person of the Year A pop music star turned out to be Time Magazine's Person of the Year for 2023. Taylor Swift is the latest goddess of pop culture. Her 131-date “Eras” world tour is on track to be the highest-grossing concert tour of all time — estimated to top $1.4 billion. Happy Monday! Sam and Emma speak with Diane Winston, Professor of Journalism and Communication at the University of Southern California, to discuss her recent book Righting the American Dream: How the Media Mainstreamed Reagan's Evangelical Vision. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Israel's murder of Israeli hostages, Netanyahu's political career, Pope Francis' reign, immigration reform, Biden's polling numbers, Rudy's big suit, the Florida GOP Chair, Clarence Thomas' (and the Supreme Court's) corruption, and the battles of the administrative state. Diane Winston then joins, jumping right into a background on Ronald Reagan's religiosity, and how – despite media presentation – it was a consistent through line in his life, and central to his successful pivot from Democrat and former Union President, to GOP Governor of California, as he emphasized his born again bona fides in his plea to the supposed “moral majority.” Next, Winston walks Sam and Emma through the contrast between the representation of Ronald Reagan's Christianity in the media and how it was viewed and interpreted by his base, with the media largely ignoring it – or at most taking it with a grain of salt – allowing him to imbue political messages with the moral concepts of the evangelical community (e.g. lowering taxes to raise “personal responsibility”), set the conversation around policy, and reinvent conservatism as a hopeful ideology. After briefly expanding on the role of religion and religious law in his administration, Winston, Sam, and Emma wrap up with an assessment of the direct line between the anti-government and pro-market government of Reagan to the fascistic and anti-human GOP of today. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma parse through the coverage of Israel's unsurprising and indiscriminate murder of their own civilians, the past and future of Netanyahu's domination of Israel's apartheid regime, and watch Ehud Olmert acknowledge exactly that. They also bask in the glory of Rudy's near $150 million defamation suit, the GOP's continued struggle to define Biden's impeachable offenses, DeSantis' cuckery, and the Pope's recent moral battles, plus, your calls and IMs! It was another Sunday morning of sometimes heated but always civil political debate on Hancock and Kelley, Sunday, November 19, 2023. John Hancock, Republican consultant, on the right and Michael Kelley, Democratic consultant, on the left took on the following topics: A Republican U.S. Senator and the Teamsters President nearly come to blows during a Senate Committee Hearing. Our Quote of the Week from Republican candidate for Missouri Governor, State Sen. Bill Eigel, says outgoing GOP Governor, Mike Parson, is too soft on Democrats … The St. Charles County Council is considering a resolution in support of keeping illegal immigrants out of the county. Missouri Attorney General, Andrew Bailey, releases a scathing report on former St. Louis Circuit Attorney, Kim Gardner, and pushes the state to ban people who resign from office from running for that office again. GOP and Democrat congressional leaders stand holding hands raised high along with tens of the thousands of demonstrators in the nation's capital in support of Israel. Trending on Tik-Tok, young Americans sympathizing with Osama Bin Laden and his 20 year old “Letter to America” seeking to justify the mass murder of nearly 3,000 Americans by flying hijacked airplanes into buildings on September 11, 2001. President Biden tells a roomful of world economic leaders at the APEC summit in San Francisco that Democrat California Governor, Gavin Newsom, could probably take President Biden's job if Newsom so desires. GOP Presidential Candidate, Nikki Haley, is rising above the field of candidates hoping to challenge runway frontrunner, former President Donald Trump. ‘Louisiana Elects GOP Governor who supports ‘Anti-Black policies'; Why are Black Voters blamed?' - Omari Ho-Sang of Black Voters Matter and Founder, Executive Director All Streets, All People (ASAP) joins Historian, Michael Imhotep on 'The African History Network Show' to discuss. 10-23-23 Louisiana's Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican backed by former President Donald Trump, has won the Louisiana governor's race, holding off a crowded field of candidates on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. Landry won the race by receiving more than 52% of the electorate – a threshold that eliminated the need for a runoff election and flipped a seat that was held by Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards since 2016. Jeff Landry defeated many challengers including Dr. Shawn Wilson who is African American and who received 70% of the African American vote. But another byproduct of Saturday's election was the scapegoating of Black voters after exit polling data showed their low turnout for a political contest in which the leading Republican has been accused championing anti-Black policies. It is no longer “likely.” Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson is running for President. But who is this Republican and why does he think he can win in 2024? Y'all-itics first introduced you to Governor Hutchinson last October. So, here is that conversation again now that he's officially joined the field. Original Summary (October 9, 2022) The race for 2024 begins next month – as soon as the polls close in the November midterm. There's already been lots of speculation about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis potentially running for the White House. But another Republican governor, who neighbors Texas, suggested to the Jasons he might launch his own bid for President. Asa Hutchinson is a former Congressman, the former head of the DEA, and now term-limited out as Governor of Arkansas. And unlike other Republicans today, Gov. Hutchinson is not afraid to disagree with Donald Trump. Which begs the question, can a center-right, Reagan-style Republican, survive nationally in today's GOP? Gov. Hutchinson, who was in Austin recently as a guest speaker for The Texas Tribune Festival, says leadership in that environment is a delicate balancing act. And in this episode of Y'all-itics, he has a candid conversation with the Jasons about his plan to secure the border, abortion and why he says limitations and restrictions are not the way out of gun violence. Republicans on Capitol Hill regain control of the House of Representatives today. The GOP holds a small, four-vote majority, which includes George Santos, a newly elected Republican from New York who fabricated virtually everything about his life history. He is facing multiple calls to resign, and several investigations. An internecine battle for Speaker of the House is underway at this hour. The GOP four-vote majority isn't enough to overcome the block of five Republicans who have vowed not to support Kevin McCarthy. As many as 15 more may not support McCarthy's bid as well. Over the last several weeks, and up to last night and this morning, the California Republican has made more and more promises intended to appease his opponents. If Republicans can't agree on McCarthy on a first ballot, it would be only the second time since the Civil War that multiple ballots would be cast for the office that is third in line for the Presidency. We will see how this all plays out. Stay tuned for continuing coverage on Here and Now and later today on All Things Considered. Today on Midday on Politics, as Maryland Governor-Elect Wes Moore prepares to take charge in Annapolis, a conversation about the legacy of Larry Hogan, the popular two-term Republican governor who will hand over the reins of state government to Mr. Moore two weeks from tomorrow. Joining Tom for the hour are two reporters who have been covering the Hogan Administration: Pamela Wood is the politics and government reporter for our partner news organization, The Baltimore Banner. And Bryan Sears is a veteran Annapolis reporter who covers government affairs for Maryland's The Daily Record… Pamela Wood and Bryan Sears join us on Zoom. In 1966 Governor Haydon Burns was denied renomination by the Democrats who opted for liberal Miami Mayor Robert King High instead of the conservative Burns. This led to a mass exodus of Democrats from their ancestral party in the fall election, where they backed Republican Claude Kirk. With his win, Kirk became the first GOP Governor in 90 years and ushered in an apparent realignment in Florida politics.

It's Monday, August 8th, A.D. 2022. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. By Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com) Iraqi Christians mark tragic anniversary August 6, 2014 is a day Iraqi Christians will never forget. They call it the “Black Day.” Max Wood, Chairman of the American Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, told The Worldview what happened, WOOD: “On August 6, 2014, the ISIS military forces came to a town called Qaraqosh, Iraq, which has traditionally been one of the largest Christian towns in Iraq. They gave the residents of that town just a few hours to either leave or convert to Islam or be killed. As a result, 50,000 Iraqi Christians left that day.” Those Iraqi Christians fled to Turkey, Syria, and Jordan. However, the majority of them, 40,000, went to Jordan which is very welcoming to refugees. The American Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East provides food for 8,000 of these Iraqi Christian refugees. WOOD: “Iraqi Christians are allowed to have refuge in Jordan, but they're not allowed to work in Jordan. That's the policy of the King of Jordan. Some refugee groups are allowed to work, but the Christian refugees are not.” Matthew 14:14 says, “When Jesus saw the great crowd, He had compassion on them.” Consider giving a donation to help pay for the food of the Iraqi Christian refugees in Jordan through a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. Plus, they've established the Olive Tree Center outside the Jordanian capital of Amman. WOOD: “And then we sustain their mental and emotional needs through our Olive Tree Center which offers music classes, guitar classes, piano classes, art classes, English classes are extremely popular, cooking classes give these ladies a chance to gather together as Iraqis in a foreign land.” On Saturday, they held a day of commemoration for the Iraqi Christian refugees in Jordan. WOOD: “On August 6, they had a commemoration ceremony there at the Olive Tree Center commemorating this day. They call this day the Black Day. It's similar to America's experience with September 11. It's a date they will never forget. It's a date that was horrific for them. It's a date that changed their lives forever.” China to U.S.A.: You can't 'treat countries like George Floyd' Enraged by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's August 2nd visit to the island nation of Taiwan, off the coast of China, a Chinese diplomat named Hua Chunying, said, 'We cannot allow the U.S. to take itself as ‘world policeman' and treat other countries [like] George Floyd whom it can bully and strangle at will,” reports The Daily Mail. China's military fired 11 ballistic missiles into the Taiwan Strait - with five landing in Japan's exclusion zone. Alex Jones ordered to pay $45.2M more over Sandy Hook lies On Friday, an Austin, Texas jury ordered conspiracy theorist talk show host Alex Jones to pay $45.2 million in punitive damages to the parents of a child who was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, adding to the $4.1 million he must pay for the suffering he put them through by claiming for years that the nation's deadliest school shooting was a hoax, reports the Associated Press. The total — $49.3 million — is less than the $150 million sought by Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, whose 6-year-old son, Jesse Lewis, was among the 20 children and six educators killed by Adam Lanza, in the 2012 attack in Newtown, Connecticut. But the trial marks the first time Jones has been held financially liable for peddling lies about the massacre, claiming it was faked by the government to tighten gun laws. Mass. GOP governor makes state abortion sanctuary On July 29th, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, a pro-abortion Republican, signed a bill codifying both abortion and puberty blockers for children into law, reports LifeNews.com. According to the Massachusetts Family Institute, this egregious law does 6 things, First, it turns Massachusetts into an “abortion sanctuary” by prohibiting the governor, courts, or law enforcement from cooperating with other states in enforcing their pro-life laws against abortionists who flee to Massachusetts. Second, it forces state universities to provide the abortion pill to students. Third, it forces insurance companies to cover abortion, even if they have religious objections. Fourth, it allows late-term abortions when a doctor deems a baby “incompatible with sustained life” outside of the womb, a decision which is not subject to review by any medical board. Fifth, it extends legal protections to Planned Parenthood which distributes puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, even in states where they have been criminalized for use on children. Sixth, it establishes Massachusetts as an abortion exporter by: Protecting abortionists who perform abortions out-of-state, even if they violate other states' laws. Lowering or eliminating safety requirements for pharmacies to dispense abortion pills. Giving immunity to abortionists who provide abortifacient drugs through the mail or through telehealth appointments to women in states where abortion is illegal. Despite the fact that this Republican governor is clearly out of step with his own party's pro-life, anti-transgender platform, Baker celebrated the bill's signing with not just one tweet, but a second tweet. He praised the “dedication” of the legislature for passing this evil law. But Proverbs 17:15 says, “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord.” After 66 days in hospital, 10-year-old Uvalde victim goes home And finally, a little girl who sustained critical injuries during the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on May 24th finally walked out of the hospital last Friday, more than two months after Salvador Ramos killed 19 students and two teachers, reports FaithWire.com. Mayah Zamora, age 10, who was shot in three limbs, walked out on her own to cheers and joy from hospital staff. STAFF: “Mayah. Mayah. Mayah.” (cheers) Administrators at University Health, a hospital in San Antonio, Texas, tweeted, “She is our hero, and we can't wait to see all she accomplishes in the future!” A GoFundMe page with a goal of $150,000 to help with Zamora's medical bills has brought in nearly $115,000. GOP Governor Officially BANS ABORTION From Conception In Oklahoma, State Will Soon Make It A FELONY. Democrats have been pushing for elective late term abortion which 81% of Americans oppose. The pro abortion crowd keeps claiming most Americans are pro choice but when you look at the data compared to what Democrats propose it doesn't add up. Democrats have passed no restriction abortion bills and now 7 states and DC allow no restriction elective abortion and many more allow abortion of viable babies. This could be the issue that results in the country splitting or even a Second Civil War as Robert Reich and Stephen Marche have stated. #Democrats #Abortion #Republicans Become A Member And Protect Our Work at http://www.timcast.com Learn more about your ad choices. It was a violent insurrection. It is refreshing to find Republicans who are not scared of Trump's shadow. Larry Hogan, the Governor of Maryland is one of those. Here is his response after Dana Bash asked him about January 6th and the Republican response. The Republican Party Is Succeeding Because We Are Not a True Democracy: The Jan. 6 attack would not have happened in a genuine democracy. The attack was the most acute symptom — so far — of the political crisis that Donald Trump incited by refusing to admit defeat in the 2020 election. But the roots of the crisis run deep into the undemocratic features of our constitutional system. The arcane scheme that Mr. Trump's lawyers hatched to disrupt congressional certification of the vote and perhaps persuade Republican state legislatures to overturn Joe Biden's victory in states like Pennsylvania was conceivable only because the Electoral College splinters presidential elections into separate contests in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia and skews the totals toward small states. In a simple system of majority rule, Mr. Biden's thumping margin of more than seven million votes would have been the last word. For that matter, so would Hillary Clinton's national margin of nearly three million votes in 2016: Mr. Trump would not have had a 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue address in which to barricade himself in 2020. --- If you like what we do please do the following! Glenn Youngkin will be Virginia's first GOP Governor since Bob McDonnell left office in 2014, which means he'll also be the first Republican since then to appoint top state government officials; Attorneys for the nine people who are suing the organizers of the deadly Unite the Right rally brought their first expert to the stand yesterday; Virginia began its rollout of COVID-19 vaccines for children 5 to 11-years-old; and other local news stories.
Today's show rundown: The Jimmy Carter Days - the problem with the economy is too much consuming going on out there. The Left is also claiming that since Youngkin won, that it's a white-lash. We want to figure out what the democrats learned? It sure feels like they are just going to double down on being idiots, they should never be allowed power. This tells you one important thing, Hillary Clinton said "Voters are stupid, and Democrat voters are stupid". 12 month ago to the day, Virginia chose Joe Biden with over a 10 point margin, so some how a large swath of the state of Virginia must have become racist in 12 months of time. For Youngkin to have won, 20 percent of the state became radicalized white supremacists. MSNBC says the contingent of angry white people was the key ingredient to elect a GOP Governor in Virginia, for the first time in 12 years. Chuck doesn't like to use the word "Evil" unless it is really applicable, but when people stand up at yell that YOU are lying, and it is they, who are indeed lying...that is pure "Evil". Kamala stated that if we lose Virginia - the Left is in trouble - oops, did she let a truth slip? Do you all think that this is going to be a time where a bunch of Democrats take this opportunity to just NOT run becasue they think they cant win. https://worldmission.cc/donate-humanitarianoutreach/

Programming Note: We apologize for the short episode and the poor sound quality. We had some major technical difficulties, so we got you what we could. Thanks -as always - for listening! There's a reason bacon always come first... and DJ is more than happy to tease with his rationale from the upcoming Bacon Is My Podcast interview but for the full answer you'll need to see the whole thing for yourself on Monday - only on StrangerhoodTV! But also... DJ has a LOT to say about certain GOP governors that are now crossing the line, in his opinion, and absolutely putting politics over public safety. Only adding to his endearing disdain for Florida's Death-by-Desantis, he points out that currently the dipshit in chief down there is crusading against any local school district that has decided it needs a mask mandate by threatening to not pay those school districts. Sounds like executive overreach to our host - probably because it is - and all of this is going down while Florida leads the nation in CHILD COVID HOSPITALIZATIONS! Despite all that spectacular stupidity, DJ warns that Mississippi is the state to watch since their GOP Governor just told everyone that they were in good shape and then left the state to hang with some of his fellow science deniers and fundraise. But meanwhile, the head of the Mississippi hospital system, specifically in Jackson, held a press conference saying that the hospitals there were "days away from failure". Mississippi has also requested, and is receiving, federal medical personnel to bail them the eff out of the COVID mess they put themselves in now. Chalk that up to another installment of "why do my tax dollars keep going to states we don't need anymore?" The world is turning upside down as governments around the world descend into lockdown and totalitarian madness. In this episode, I discuss the troubling story. Also, I discuss the latest immigration outrage as Biden wants you to pay for lawyers for illegals. News Picks: Kneeling US Women's Soccer team loses. Is Asa Hutchinson the worst GOP Governor in the country? Biden wants you, the taxpayer, to pay for lawyers for illegal immigrants. Although covid cases may be rising, hospitalizations and deaths are far lower then during last year's peaks. The YouTube communists strike again, banning Sky News for speaking the truth about the failed covid lockdowns. This grassroots organization is training liberty activists to become school board candidates. The data is crystal clear, GOP governors made the right call in canceling the unemployment benefits that were encouraging people not to work. AOC is anti-cop, anti-ICE, anti-gun, and pro-Blackwater. Strange combo. Who is watching the watchmen. A troubling article you need to read. Copyright Dan Bongino All Rights Reserved.

Crime is on the rise in many big cities across America as law enforcement prepares for an uptick in violence this summer. Governor Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) weighs in on the surging crime rates across the U.S. and what is driving them. He also discusses the disparity in crack cocaine and powder cocaine sentencings and why he supports removing it to help repair community relationships with law enforcement and improve confidence in the criminal justice system. The United States continues to turn a corner on COVID-19 with cases of the virus sharply declining across the country and citizens continuing to get vaccinated. However in May, two small counties in Missouri saw their coronavirus numbers surge. Medical Director of the Linn County Health Department, Dr. Kendal Geno joins to discuss how the circumstances in his county aligned to create a large spike in coronavirus cases, how the county saw many people who had the virus become re-infected and how the issue of vaccine hesitancy contributed to his county's recent COVID-19 spread. Plus, commentary by Jimmy Failla, host of "Fox Across America."
