In this Bible Story, we witness the continued bravery of David even into old age. He continues to wage war against all who would threaten the followers of God. As a result, David becomes weary, but doesn't lose hope in the Lord. This story is inspired by 2 Samuel 21. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.Today's Bible verse is 2 Samuel 21:3 from the King James Version.Episode 110: Famine was in the land of Israel, and this led to hard times for the people. So David sought the Lord and asked what he should do. God showed him the reason for the famine and commanded him to make peace with the Gibeonites for the sins that Saul had committed against them. David called the Gibeonites to him and gave them their request, the life of Saul's sons. After this, the famine eased and Israel once again flourished. However, this flourishing would draw out more enemies of Israel and more battles, battles that David was too old to fight in.Hear the Bible come to life as Pastor Jack Graham leads you through the official BibleinaYear.com podcast. On this episode, Chris is joined by Karen Bailey - Chapman, Senior Vice President - Public and Government Affairs at SEMA. They chat about SEMA's advocacy initiatives and how electric vehicle mandates, tariffs and limiting access to public land impact the enthusiast vehicle community. Government policy inadvertently promotes stagnating innovation, increasing costs and limiting use of public lands. SEMA's advocacy initiatives are lobbying government decision makers to normalize and reverse the negative impact government policy has on the enthusiast vehicle community and aftermarket suppliers. It all began in 1963 when a group of small manufacturers who were suppliers of performance equipment for early hot rods organized their fledgling industry and called it "Speed Equipment Manufacturers Association" (SEMA).The mission was practical and straightforward: develop uniform standards for certain products used in motorsports competition; promote the industry as a supplier to consumers involved in constructive activities of recreational and hobbyist value; develop programs to encourage improved business practices among member companies; and hold regular meetings to achieve unity as a business organization. In those days, all of the members were founders of companies that produced speed equipment exclusively (hence, the organization's title). At the outset, the pioneering companies operated free of the constraints that come from governmental regulations and their attending restrictions. They were as aggressive and progressive as their imaginations would allow, and the mostly small businesses flourished. Today, many of the original companies are very large, successful corporations, and some, such as Edelbrock, Ansen, B&M and Offenhauser, are known internationally for their product lines. Today, more than 40 years later, the small group of entrepreneurial operations has been joined by thousands of companies, designers, producers and suppliers of specialty products that span the gamut. From performance products for street and race applications to appearance accessories for late-model automobiles and light-duty trucks, SEMA-member companies contribute to the vitality and strength of a $29.9-billion-a-year retail industry.SEMA eventually became the Specialty Equipment Market Association, embracing within its ranks all businesses in the distribution chain: manufacturers, warehouse distributors, jobbers, independent retailers, volume retailers, specialty stores (speed shops), sales agents, subcontractors and publishing companies. The membership categories even include racing teams, car clubs and special service organizations. The SEMA membership roster has steadily grown and continues its upward climb. Today there are more than 6,382 corporate members. Products supplied by the industry are in demand not only in the United States, but also throughout the world.Follow, Like and subscribe to the podcast on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and your podcast listing platform. Given the gross miscarriages of justice exposed by the Post Office/Horizon scandal, the extraordinary delay in reversing the wrongful conviction of Andrew Malkinson due to repeated failures by the Criminal Cases Review Commission and the continuing calls for the case of Lucy Letby to be referred back to the Court of Appeal, is the criminal appeal system in need of fundamental reform? Connecting the dots between recent events, and the health of criminal justice in Britain is Professor Penney Lewis who joins Ken Macdonald KC and Tim Owen KC to explain, in accessible terms, insider legal perspectives on topics such as the basis on which the Court of Appeal decides whether a criminal conviction is unsafe; the admissibility of fresh, post-trial evidence; the need for reform of juror secrecy; compensation for the wrongly convicted; and whether the Supreme Court should be able to decide for itself whether to entertain an appeal from the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division). The Law Commission is currently consulting on reforms to the law governing criminal appeals including the tests applied by appeal courts and the Criminal Cases Review Commission, post-trial retention of and access to evidence, and compensation and support for the wrongly convicted. Jesus came to fulfill the Father's promise from the Garden — as the seed of the woman who would crush Satan's rule and restore us to God's Kingdom. In Christ and through His resurrection, all things are made new. Today, we don't celebrate a tomb — we celebrate the God of the resurrection, who meticulously rights every wrong by His resurrection power.

No one does it like Angie. Racial tensions, police shootings, citizen uprisings. Does this sound like the setting of a YA novel? How about three of them? Her debut 'The Hate U Give,' her sophomore release 'On The Come Up,' and her third 'Concrete Rose' were all on The New York Times bestseller list, and her fantasy middle school-level book 'Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy' was *also* an instant New York Times bestseller! In this classic chapter of 3 Books, we sat down together at the busiest hotel in downtown Toronto on the tail end of Angie's 15-city book tour to discuss how we find the truth for ourselves, when do we bring up harsh realities to kids, and what place media and religion have in society today. We dive deep into the heightened racial and political tensions today and we search for a way out and, as always, we get to learn Angie Thomas's three most formative books. Let's flip the page back to Chapter 26 now...
Kramer Levin's commitment to justice is powerfully exemplified in its pro bono work to overturn the wrongful conviction of Anthony Hall, who spent 26 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Through relentless legal advocacy, strategic litigation, and an impactful partnership with Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project, the firm fought to expose critical flaws in the case – from unreliable eyewitness testimony to systemic issues within the criminal justice system. Their unwavering dedication not only helped secure Hall's freedom but also underscored the transformative power of pro bono work in changing lives and addressing injustice. Everyone, Sheevaun around here, deriving for your success, and today the reason I'm sitting in this spot with this background is I want to talk about something that is so important to anyone's life, but especially if you're in a business and you're growing your business. It's This idea that this last mile is going to be a doozy. You know, there are the most accidents that occur because of the last few miles before you get home. True. In fact, you get tired, you check out, you're not as grounded, you're not as focused. The last mile is often the mile that really really stops everyone. And so the reason I'm sitting in this place at this time is because I host or have been hosting for the past 15 years a summit called the Epic Life Success Summit and I remember the first time that I hosted one I had a partner and basically he was trying to take over the entire summit And I remember sitting here in this spot, but there was a different, slightly different thing that was happening in the background. There was this hummingbird that kept, oh gosh, this hummingbird, amazing hummingbird, just kept at it in this little area where you see the light. It kept coming to the window and kind of encouraging me, if you will, to not give up, to stick with it, to go through with it. And it was expensive, and it was hard, and it was in a different state, and so many things. And so had I given up on that, a lot of people, hundreds and hundreds of people, would not have, you know, gotten the transformation. And so the last mile is And most things break because the driver breaks, because the idea gets so over it. You get tired of it, you're sick of it. You don't want to do it anymore, it's too much, it's too much friction. And you know, when you think about the last mile, it could be easy if you're going to give up. But what if this last mile is the thing that you get on the other side of. This could be your swan song. This last mile could be the thing that you need to hear in order to take and stay with it. Stick with it. You know, there's a whole idea of three feet from gold and oftentimes we are three feet from gold. It could just take one post, one concept, one idea that is going to churn everything around. Apple, classic example of the last mile. We wouldn't be having smartphones the way we do if Steve Jobs had given up on the last mile. And there's so many things, I mean I just heard something about Sly and the Family Stones, a band from the 60s and 70s. and he got very famous because he decided to record a song that was beyond the last mile. So what is your last mile that you need to stick with? What is the last mile that you've given up on? What is the last mile that you are considering quitting? You know, this last mile could be your thing. It could be the very thing. Often, it's a financial thing that you're like, "I can't, I can't, I can't take it anymore." And maybe that's not true. If you've made it this far, you can make it further. What is your last mile? Where are you in this, in this theme, in this process, in this place, in your journey? The last mile, go beyond it. President Trump will address Congress tonight on the theme of restoring America. It is hard to overstate the importance – and the comprehensiveness – of his efforts so far to do just that. Our chief executive has striven to reestablish the values, renew the institutions, and redirect the priorities of a nation that Barack Obama promised to “fundamentally transform” – and did over what amounted to his three terms. For example, Mr. Trump's “commonsense” has reaffirmed that there are two genders, one national language, and no justification for our underwriting the growing threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party. Righting the ship of state in order to Make America Great Again is what Mr. Trump received a mandate to do. If his first forty- four days are any guide, his determination to keep promises made will, indeed, restore America, praise the Lord. This is Frank Gaffney.

A revisionist approach towards history is among the most powerful weapons in the right's arsenal. Righting so-called historical wrongs is among the causes it dedicates itself most passionately to. Using history, the populist right manufactures a sense of victimhood within the majority and rewrites history to manufacture a glorious past that must then be recreated to make the nation great again. In Episode 2 of the All Indians Matter series that puts under the scanner the rise of the right, we look at revisionism as a political strategy. Learn more about your ad choices. Have you ever shared something difficult about your grief, only to have someone respond with a dismissive comment like, “They're in a better place” or, “At least you had the years you had together?” This instinct to fix or "right" a situation is known as the righting reflex. It's a common response to seeing someone in pain that's usually well-intentioned… but it doesn't feel good. I explore the concept of the righting reflex, how it shows up in our interactions with others and ourselves, and strategies for responding to it in a way that honors our feelings and needs. Send us a textIn this episode, we dive into one of the biggest obstacles coaches face when helping clients navigate change—the righting reflex. The instinct to "fix" or "correct" can create resistance, damage trust, and ultimately slow down the process of change. We'll explore why it's crucial to avoid this reflex and instead guide clients to discover their own path to transformation. We also unpack the concept of ambivalence, a natural state where clients may feel torn between conflicting desires or values. Rather than pushing for change, coaches can skillfully work with ambivalence using tools like the decisional balance sheet. This simple yet powerful tool allows clients to weigh the pros and cons of their choices, helping them clarify their own reasons for change and commit to a course of action that aligns with their values.Join us as we explore how recognizing these psychological dynamics and empowering clients to resolve their own ambivalence can lead to lasting, meaningful change.Visit us at:www.theselfhelpantidote.com
Welcome to Day 2426 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom – Theology Thursday – Righting a Wrong – I Dare You Not To Bore Me With The Bible Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2426 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2426 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today is the fifteenth lesson in our segment, Theology Thursday. Utilizing excerpts from a book titled: I Dare You Not To Bore Me With The Bible written by Hebrew Bible scholar and professor the late Dr. Michael S Heiser, we will invest a couple of years going through the entire Bible, exploring short Biblical lessons that you may not have received in Bible classes or Church. The Bible is a wonderful book. Its pages reveal the epic story of God's redemption of humankind and the long, bitter conflict against evil. Yet it's also a book that seems strange to us. While God's Word was written for us, it wasn't written to us. Today, our lesson is, Righting a Wrong. The story of Jephthah and his tragic vow is paralleled by other stories— including a New Testament story that subverts it. The Story After the brief judgeship of Jair (a man from Gilead), the people of Israel fell into idolatry by worshiping foreign gods (Judg 10:6). God then allowed a foreign enemy to oppress the Israelites as punishment. This time, it was the Ammonites who lived on the other side of the Jordan in a place also known as Gilead. The people immediately called on God for deliverance. Ironically, God responded by calling Jephthah, another judge from Gilead. In Judges 11, Jephthah sends a message to the king of the Ammonites. He wonders why the king is not content with the land his god Chemosh had given the Ammonites. Jephthah's plea is flawed: Milkom was the chief deity of Ammon—not Chemosh. It won't be the last time he makes a theological blunder. When Jephthah leads Israel against Ammon, the Spirit of the Lord comes upon him for battle. Just before the fight, he utters his horrible vow: 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord. He said, “If you give me victory over the Ammonites, 31 I will give to the Lord whatever comes out of my house to meet me when I return in triumph. I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.” (11:30-31). Upon his victorious return, it is his only child, his daughter, who greets him. The Story Behind the Story The ancient Israelites believed that geographical areas and nations were under the dominion of other gods, put there by Yahweh, the God of Israel, who had rejected the nations as His people (Deut 4:19-20: 32:8-9). The Jephthah episode reflects that worldview. Judges 11:10-11 tells us that the Israelites worshiped other gods, including Milkom. Human sacrifices were made to Milkom. Through his own theological ignorance, Jephthah wound up performing a human sacrifice, per Ammonite Milkom worship, to fulfill his foolish vow to Yahweh. He had Yahweh in view, but his perspective on worship was warped. Remember, at this time, there was no king, no spiritual leadership, and no centralized system of worship. The Story Repurposed The tragedy of Jephthah is repurposed in the New Testament story of Jesus raising the daughter of Jairus (Luke 8:40-56). The
