Send us a textWelcome to another episode of the “Daily Drop,” where Jared breaks down the chaos disguised as a defense budget. We're talking about a $1 trillion spendathon featuring: cutting cybersecurity staff during peak cyber threat season, trying to mass-produce drones in 24 hours with foreign parts we don't make, and senior leaders treating AI like it's witchcraft. You'll also get the inside scoop on how our Space Force is flexing with rapid GPS launches (kind of), why cutting Air Force Academy faculty could kneecap future warfighters, and which senator is still obsessed with moving Space Command for no tactical reason.PLUS:

Journalists are talking about the importance of truth telling. But what they're saying conflicts with what their news agencies are doing. Today, Josh digs into this growing problem. When one speaker at a journalism awards dinner said something critical about the media, it ended up exposing the media's propensity for grandstanding. Plus, CBS platformed a Russian official in a long interview, and did not mention democracy. Even worse, CBS indicated that it took a piece of guidance from the Russian government. What?! Meanwhile, a leader of Columbia University's vicious antisemitic mobs has changed his story yet again. Josh explains.

North Carolina Republican lawmakers have rightfully complained in recent years about the state's deeply flawed recovery response to Hurricanes Matthew and Florence — two storms that wreaked havoc years ago. It's outrageous that many eastern North Carolina homes still remain unrepaired. That said, their recent partisan grandstanding about the post-Hurricane Helene situation in western […]

"How do you know your tourism activity's overall impact is beneficial to a community if you aren't measuring it?" This week, Gary and Hannah discuss economic leakages and quantifying the impacts on local communities of tour operations with Ewan Cluckie, Founder of Thailand-based Tripseed. Socio-economic sustainability in tourism is an under-scrutinised topic, but Tripseed is confronting it head-on. The company recently published phase 1 of its deeply researched Economic Distribution Disclosure Initiative, a set of tools and metrics designed to "drive transparency and positive impact within the local economy”. Ewan discusses why economic leakage is "particularly pronounced" in Thailand, and research related to other ASEAN countries. So, what are these leakages, how do you measure and compare them - and where does the money go? And, how can leakages be assessed for suppliers further along the chain, whose data might be tricky to obtain? Ewan also provides a heads-up about the areas that this innovative tourism impact project in South East Asia will address next - and the interest it has garnered from university research institutes and large private sector organisations.

Elected representatives in Ennis are being called on to stop "grandstanding and name-calling" and instead focus on working for the town's future. The comments from local election candidate Hillary Tonge come ahead of Ennis 2040 DAC's presentation to Clare County Council, which was due to take place last week, but has been deferred to this afternoon. Ennis Municipal District is currently divided on the issue of the Ennis 2040 developments, with Councillors Mary Howard, Clare Colleran-Molloy and Ann Norton all members of the board. Councillor Paul Murphy also in favour of the proposals, while Pat Daly and Tom O'Callaghan against the plans. Following recent clashes between councillors, Ennis Social Democrats candidate, Hilary Tonge insists being "at eachother's throats" will achieve nothing.

When South Dakota's governor Kristi Noem signed an executive order in 2022 to ban use of the Tik Tok app on government devices, the political left cried foul. Now they are colluding with the political right, which is clearly filled with naive suckers and illiterate fools, to advance just such a bill federally. In fact, the legislation would give sweeping authority for the President to effectively shut down anything associated with or in league with a foreign nation. Definitions otherwise are open to interoperation. All this heat comes on the heels of the Annual Threat Assessment from the US Intelligence Community, which warned how Tik Tok has been, and will be, used to interfere in elections. Therefore, if anyone is opposed to such a bill, they must be in favor of China influencing our upcoming election. Here we go again. This is the same political maneuvering and grandstanding attempted with the border security bill that actually legalized millions of illegals and pumped billions into Ukraine, among other things, while ignoring existing laws that remain unenforced. Anyone opposed didn't want to secure the border, apparently. Why the executive provision in the bill isn't rewritten or removed, and TiK Tok still banned, is another question that may get to the real heart of why the House vote was bipartisan at 352-65.-FREE ARCHIVE & RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-secret-teachingsTwitter: https://twitter.com/TST___RadioFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesecretteachingsWEBSITE (BOOKS, RESUBSCRIBE for early show access): http://thesecretteachings.infoPaypal: rdgable@yahoo.comCashApp: $rdgableBuy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/tstradioSUBSCRIBE TO NETWORK: http://aftermath.mediaEMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.com

It is increasingly difficult to find students at the collegiate level who know how to engage in spirited, rigorous, but amiable debate about important matters. Grandstanding, emotive outbursts calculated to silence opposition, and the recitation of prefabricated talking points mark much of the environment. Rather than seeking to expose the truth, much of what counts for debate is actually aimed at domination and manifests an unhealthy conformance to the reigning ideas of a school of thought or a political activist agenda. A proper training from a younger age in the art of seminar discussion would help contemporary college students navigate the choppy waters of young adulthood. This talk addressed how those of us who teach secondary students can create environments free, curious, and open for seminar discussions. It will address the goals of a seminar; the necessary habits and tools for a fruitful discussion; and common mistakes that spoil a seminar.Andrew J. "She's right." That's what Chris Jones, the director of North Dakota's Department of Human Services, had to say on this episode of Plain Talk about many of the complaints of one of our previous guests. Specifically Robin Nelson, the CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley, who said that child care operations like her are "drowning" thanks to difficulties with hiring and red tape. "I don't disagree that they're drowning," Jones said in an interview that addressed everything from delays in the background check process to a new web portal for licensing that hasn't worked as well as it could have. Also on this episode, co-host Ben Hanson and I discuss state Auditor Josh Gallion's bomb-throwing toward the legislature, accusing them of attacking his office, and of being corrupt, after advancing a bill that would limit what his office can charge for audits and require that someone holding his office be a certified public accounting, something Gallion is not. Gallion's words are unbecoming for someone in his position, we concluded, and even counterproductive to the goal of holding state government accountable. An auditor should be level-headed and trustworthy. Gallion's audits, and the press campaigns he orchestrates around them, have become so exaggerated, so theatrical, that a reasonable observer must take them with a grain of salt.
