CLAP CLAP. ANTS! CLAP CLAP. ANTS! CLAP CLAP. ANTS! This week we're covering the most well-known superhero family in the Marvel franchise - that's right, it's the Ant fam. Sole defeaters (so far) of Kang the Conqueror. Despite Rachel hyping you up with her constant complaining about having to do yet another Marvel movie, we actually HAD A LOT OF FUN. AND IT'S NOT BECAUSE WE'RE SO ANTSY (haha GET IT) TO GET TO OUR ONCE UPON A TIME EPISODE. We liked Quantumania! Shout out to Katherine Newton aka Cassie Lang aka Claire Novak from Supernatural! She's going places. Those places will no longer be Supernatural conventions. Anyway, we sorted Scott Lang, Hope Van Dyne, and Cassie Lang. Unfortunately we did not sort Hank Pym (spoiler for anyone who didn't get it after the man rolled in with his giant ant army: he's a Ravenclaw). This summary has gone absolutely off the rails. Next week Lauren is going to ramble for approximately 108 minutes about Killian Jones aka Captain Hook. Stay tuned.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania falls right in line with the other Ant-Man films with the one big distinction that it is Jonathan Major's MCU feature film debut as Kang and that alone is worth the price of a ticket (or several tickets). It seems that some folks have become confused with Marvel's approach to its films post-Infinity Saga. Basically they're not holding our hands and are going full comic book and that can be good or bad depending on what your expectations are. It's also very clear that you should be watching the Disney+ shows. Watching this film is definitely going to want to watch the first season of Loki again. Anyone who watched that last episode of Loki knew that Major's was going to kill it (literally and figuratively) as Kang and this film just solidifies it.  It's not a perfect film by any measure. But we think this is going to be one of those films that folks are going to go back to after the direction Phase 4 & Phase 5 have been going become more clear and have to reevaluate.  Like what you hear? Nowadays, if you're cast in a Marvel film, it's like winning the lottery. But it didn't start that way for Evangeline Lilly, who stars alongside Paul Rudd in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (February 17). "I was late to the Marvel game because I wasn't into superhero movies." But after watching them, "I came away feeling like I'd won the jackpot." For the third installment in the Ant-Man franchise, Lilly's Hope Van Dyne aka Wasp faces many changes: she's in love with Rudd's Scott Lang; the return of her mother, Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer) and dealing with an issue with her father, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Lilly says Hope is "so tough and cool, but then there's this softness that comes through." Lilly credits Marvel's ability to mix a story about superheroes with "relevant, current political themes." They're seemingly able to "always feel like they're just slightly ahead of the curve in that way. And the only way you can be on the pulse in Hollywood is if you're ahead." And, of course, "they're doing it with such awareness that these are adults in tights." Soundscapes by Here With the Magic

Soundscapes: Avengers Campus Follow along with the show notes below! Want More Here With The Magic? Visit The Website: https://herewiththemagic.com Watch Here: https://www.youtube.com/HereWithTheMagic Connect on social media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/herewiththemagic Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/herewiththemagic/ ---------- (2:50) Long before the Avengers set up headquarters on this land at Disney's California Adventure, it was held by a group of mystical sorcerers known as the Vishanti, who protected the Earth's entire dimension and whose supernatural power could be transferred to human beings worthy of its possession. A young and ambitious Howard Stark, who was intrigued by the celestial properties of this place, found himself drawn to and inspired by its secrets. He laid the foundation for what is now a place of innovation and creativity, inspiration and, you guessed it, Magic. When Tony Stark inherited the campus from his father, it became a beacon of hope and opportunity unlike ever before. Renowned and brilliant minds from across every dimension of the universe have come to this place to hone their skills, better their talents, and work toward creating a brighter future for all. The energy that pulses through this place is undeniable; it sweeps us along on an unforgettable journey. The music, the movement, the otherworldly enigma…it's all part of the Magic of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here, we find stories which have defined the popular culture of generations, and we are invited to be part of it all. (9:12) Up ahead, WEB Headquarters is an impressive introduction to Stark's vision for a Campus of superior minds. The youngest Avenger with the biggest heart and the most to prove, Peter Parker utilizes this space for research and design, an apprenticeship under the watchful eye of his mentor, Iron Man. While his desire to succeed and impress his superhero idols generally outweighs his professional finesse, the atmosphere of being Here where science and Magic converge and history is made is enough to make us forget the world we've left behind entirely. (10:30) Prototypical Spider-Bots run rampant through the WEB open house, where unsuspecting guests are called upon to test the limits of Peter's latest invention to rid the place of the mutating arachnids. Interfacing with the latest Stark technology, we get to be part of the action and sling webs right along with Spider-Man himself. Across the way, at Web Suppliers, the most unfazed among us can interact with and even take home a Spider-Bot of our very own, whether as a token of their accomplishment or a sort of sidekick. Their mechanical clicking redirects our attention this way and that, to street vendors demonstrating their abilities and onto the sides of buildings, where they skitter and scuttle for a better view of visitors below. (13:45) A serene departure from the eight-legged articulation of WEB, a tinkling of strange and ethereal instruments calls us into The Ancient Sanctum of the judicious Doctor Strange. Here, we become cognizant of entering hallowed ground, where immortal ruins liberated from beneath their spells of concealment reveal the presence of Magic in this place. Flowing with an intriguing, pulsating force, the secrets of the mystic arts breathe with the power of the multiverse in this space, echoing with enchantment and a stillness that transcends this world. At nightfall, we are engulfed in a vibrant, violet glow that settles over the temple, bringing it to life in a whole new way. Hidden for centuries in the hills of Los Angeles, The Ancient Sanctum is unveiled for all who desire to find knowledge and enlightenment. It is a transformational space, a sort of phenomenon of tranquility in the midst of so much action and excitement. It all melts away in the glow of the lantern light. Whatever realm of the multiverse we have entered, there is a paradoxical, grounding sense of presence and peace found Here. (18:46) At the heart of Avengers Campus stands the unmistakable, formidable Avengers Headquarters. A shining, slanted “A” leaves no room for misinterpretation: this is where Earth's mightiest heroes gather to train and demonstrate their abilities. The Avengers are almost certainly in residence; the gleaming Quinjet on the roof poised and ready for anything at a moment's notice. Black Widow might be seen scanning the surroundings for oncoming threats from her black Jeep on the South side of Headquarters, and we might even catch Captain America himself on the lookout from several stories up. Captain Marvel, Thor, Ant-Man, Black Panther and so many other iconic members of this elite team can be spotted throughout the day and into the evening, greeting new recruits and standing ready, as ever, for whatever might come. (19:40) Eyes diverted upward on all sides are wide with awe, the quintessential Avengers theme rumbling in our ears. Converging on the line between fantasy and reality, we are transported to some alternate dimension from the one we inhabit. We are standing in tangible awareness that our childhood daydreams are Here, surrounding us, no longer fabrications of our imaginations. We are overwhelmed by a sense of joy that we so often forget in adulthood. It is larger than life, bigger than us, and it was waiting for us all the time. This place could not be described as anything but awesome. (21:35) Speaking of larger than life: as the Avengers campus grew to accommodate more and more universal superpowers, it became apparent to two individuals that they would need to find an efficient way to feed everyone. Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, otherwise known as Ant-Man and The Wasp, came up with the clever concept of PYM's Test Kitchen to meet that need. Here, we find curiously altered comfort foods which have been grown or shrunk by PYM particles to suit each Avenger's appetite. Craving a pretzel the size of Cap's shield? A quantum tunnel will size that up for sharing with our whole crew. How about a Not-So-Little chicken sandwich? The mechanics and science at work in this place even have our experimental concoctions served up on lab paper so we can be part of the project. (24:50) And even though the aroma of freshly baked bread and Impossibly large meatballs is hard to resist, the sound of a friendly, neighborhood voice in the distance brings us back to WEB Headquarters to see what other surprises might be in store. Could it be the web-slinger himself, Spider-Man? (25:18) Indeed, it is! High atop the WEB Headquarters lab, Peter Parker is demonstrating the capabilities of his latest suit prototype for a crowd of admirers. His youthful energy and excitement are infectious, and watching him test his limits is a reminder to all of us that the greatest heroes can come from anywhere, even a tiny apartment in Queens. (27:24) Maybe not all of us dream of being superheroes. Maybe some of us feel heroic when we make it through the day. But if this ragtag bunch of Avengers can teach us anything, it's that gumption and grit will get you farther than whatever advantages you might perceive are the right ones to have. It doesn't matter what your everyday looks like, whether your commute is on a train from Queens to Manhattan or the Bifröst from Asgard, what matters is that you look for possibilities wherever you can. When he finally picked up his pen to tell the story of his own life, Stan Lee said this of the incredible universe he created: “Marvel is a cornucopia of fantasy, a wild idea, a swashbuckling attitude, an escape from the humdrum and the prosaic. It's a serendipitous feast for the mind, the eye, the imagination, a literate celebration of unbridled creativity, coupled with a touch of rebellion and an insolent desire to spit in the eye of the dragon.” That touch of rebellion, that defiance in the wake of all that reality impresses upon our consciousness…that is where time and age cease to have any power over us. That is where our youthful hope remains intact; our desire to celebrate moments big and small. That is the space where inspiration comes to us, where ideas are born. A protective shield and a talisman for the imagination, Here is where Magic assembles right before our eyes, a squadron of defiant dreamers. Be one of them. Be Here With the Magic.

The Madames play a little catch-up as they cover Episodes 2 & 3 of What If.    In the alternate universe of Episode 2, Ego sends the Ravagers to kidnap his human son, Peter Quill. However, they accidentally kidnap T'Challa, Prince of Wakanda by accident. T'Challa becomes a Robin Hood version of Star-Lord. Along with his cohorts Korath, Thanos, Nebula, Yondu, Kraglin, and Taserface, T'Challa plots to capture the Embers of Genesis from the Collector. The team is successful & T'Challa is ultimately reunited with his Wakandan family.    Episode 2 stars Chadwick Boseman, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Michael Rooker, Josh Brolin, Kurt Russell, John Kani, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Gunn, Chris Sullivan, Seth Green, Danai Gurira, Carrie Coon, Jeffrey Wright, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Ophelia Lovibond, and Fred Tatasciore.   Episode 3 calls back to several Marvel movies, including The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Avengers, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In this universe, the Avengers are never formed because they are systematically murdered before they can team up. Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Clint Barton, Thor, and Natasha Romanoff are all killed in mysterious ways. It's up to Nick Fury & Agent Phil Coulson to find the killer. Thanks to some information found by Black Widow and an uneasy alliance with Loki, Fury finds & neutralizes the killer, Hank Pym. Pym was on a mission to avenge his daughter Hope Van Dyne, who, in this universe, was a S.H.I.E.L.D. killed in the line of duty. Fury's alliance with Loki ultimately backfires, as the God of Mischief successfully takes over the world. But Fury is determined to defeat Loki's army, and Captain Marvel arrives to help.    Episode 3 stars Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Lake Bell, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Frank Grillo, Stephanie Panisello, Jaimie Alexander, and Jeffrey Wright.   Online Warriors Podcast:   Twitter   IG   Website   For more details on the film/TV references that spill out of Kris's (and occasionally Amy's) brain, as well as links to other podcasts, visit the episode page on our website: Episode page link Email us at themarvelousmadames@gmail.com Follow us on Twitter  Instagram  Tumblr

Bradley Episode Written by: A.C. Bradley and Matthew Chauncey Episode Directed By: Bryan Andrews One small choice can change the world! Monday. At a doughnut shop in California, S.H.I.E.L.D. Director, Nick Fury, and agent Natasha Romanoff are powerless to prevent the death of Tony Stark. Romanoff is accused of his murder, but slips away from the S.H.I.E.L.D. strike force team led by Brock Rumlow. Tuesday. In Mexico a mysterious hammer has caught the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D. Under the watchful gaze of Clint Barton the hammer's owner, with amazing hair, comes to retrieve his property as Barton fires his arrow into the heart of Thor the God of Thunder. Clint Barton is held under lock and key for his murder. Hours later, despite around the clock supervision, Clint is found dead in his cell. Later that day Loki arrives from Asgard backed up by the warriors Three and an army of Asgardians. He wants to punish the puny planet for the murder of Thor. But convinced that smaller forces are at play, Nick persuades Loki that they should work together to catch their common enemy.

Pat and Mike talk about whether or not this movie unfairly suffers from an audience let down coming off of the epic Avengers: Infinity War. Mike will dive into the various villainous obstacles placed in Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne's way, rather than an actual villain for the movie. Pat will trace the history of Bill Foster, Ghost, Egghead (yeah, he's in this) within the comics, while also breaking down why we're not allowed to call the Quantum Realm by it's true comic name - The Microverse. And those dang Sokovia Accords rear their ugly heads in this, much to the chagrin of Mike. Find us on https://www.instagram.com/yetanothermcupodcast/ (Instagram)! Fonseca talks with Gil Gerard American actor, most notable for his role as Captain William "Buck" Rogers in the 1979–81 television series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. (try not to laugh to hard!) AMV tells us "THE BEST FEMALE" Superheroes Of All Time With Captain Marvel still lighting up the box office, there's no question studios are looking to put female superheroes front and center. With that in mind, we're looking back at the best of the best - the most powerful, coolest, all around best superheroines of all time. Supergirl Supergirl may have started out as a spin-off character from Superman, but for many fans, she's become so much more than that. DC's Maid of Might represents a certain element of femininity that is often glossed over in fiction – the balance of girlish glee and emotional exploration with confidence and physical power. Too often female characters must be one or the other, ultra-feminine or super-powerful, but Supergirl - who possesses all the strength of her cousin Superman while facing all the issues of a young woman - is at her best when writers strike a true balance between both sides of that coin, letting her be a real Supergirl. That dynamic plays an important role in the CW's Supergirl, a show that places a slightly older Kara in the central role and embraces her femininity without shying away from her ability to kick ass. Black Widow Black Widow has been around as a character since the 1960's, but it's only recently that she's become a particularly prominent heroine in the Marvel Universe, thanks in large part to her role as a founding member of the cinematic Avengers. But the fact that her recent success has mostly been due to her onscreen adventures doesn't discount her role in comic books, either. Though she started out as a villain, it wasn't long before Black Widow became an Avenger, a career she's balanced with her black ops work alongside S.H.I.E.L.D. and on her own, even leading the team for a time. Black Widow is finally getting her own solo film in the MCU as well, with a director having just come on board. She-Hulk To some, She-Hulk is the ultimate expression of feminine power. She's indestructible, super-strong, and without inhibition – all of this with the mind of a high-powered attorney wrapped inside those unparalleled green muscles. And while she may seem like a typical spin-off character (obviously riffing on her somewhat more famous cousin Bruce Banner), She-Hulk takes the concept of a gamma-irradiated hero to a totally different level, embracing her alter ego and living life to the fullest. In some ways, She-Hulk also broke other boundaries – her John Byrne-penned ongoing series introduced an indestructible, fourth-wall-breaking hero with a sense of humor years before Deadpool grew a similar schtick. She-Hulk was Deadpool before there even was a Deadpool. She-Hulk is now a core member of the recently relaunched Avengers Wasp Janet Van Dyne was not only the first female Avenger, and a founder, but also the hero who named the team when they first formed. Though she started out as something of a sidekick to her on-again-off-again (currently off-again) paramour Hank Pym, Janet quickly became a hero in her own right, leading the Avengers several times, and often acting as the team's moral center. When crafting this list, it came down to putting either Wasp or Captain Marvel in this spot. And while Captain Marvel may be more prominent now, her trajectory has been spotty, taking her from being a damsel in distress, to a perpetual victim, to leading the Avengers and her own intergalactic defense team, while Wasp's arc has been far more consistent. Add to that her historical significance, and it's easy to see why she's one of the greatest female heroes ever to grace the printed page. And while viewers got a glimpse of Janet Van Dyne in action in Ant-Man, she took on a much larger role in the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp - in which her MCU daughter Hope Van Dyne took on the mantle of the winsome Wasp. Jean Grey 6 of 12 Jean Grey was the first X-Woman, and even bore the name of her publishing company as Marvel Girl before transitioning to her Phoenix identity in the 1970's. But she's more than just the first female mutant superhero – she's also emblematic of the entire X-Men franchise, and one of the most complex, well-developed characters in comic books. She may have started out in the typical Marvel superheroine model, but later adventures saw Jean develop a level of depth that many ensemble cast members never achieve. Between her ever developing relationship with Scott Summers, her vast and terrifying power levels, her descent into madness as the Dark Phoenix, and her penchant for self-sacrifice and redemption, Jean experienced more in her tenure as a hero than almost anyone. Of course, the Phoenix always rises from the ashes, and a newly returned Jean Grey now leads her own team in X-Men: Red. Batgirl Barbara Gordon is unique among female heroes, and superheroes in general, for having not one but two vastly different and very successful superhero careers. Barbara started out as Batgirl, using her wits, her incredible intelligence, and her physical capabilities to earn Batman's trust as an ally and protégé. However, after years of fighting crime on the streets of Gotham, a violent encounter with the Joker left her paralyzed – but not deterred. Though her physical challenges sometimes (not always) kept her off the streets, Barbara turned to her intelligence to make a difference. Taking on the mantle of Oracle, Barbara became the information hub for Batman's entire network and lead the all-female superhero team the Birds of Prey. Now she's back in action as Batgirl, her injuries having finally been reversed. Captain Marvel Carol Danvers is just about the most powerful woman in the Marvel Universe, and is arguably the publisher's top female hero. With cosmic powers, a background as a fighter pilot, a high profile movie, and that crucial Avengers membership, she's everything great about superheroes wrapped up in one sleek package. It's no wonder the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will likely put Carol front and center, as one of the pillars of the most popular superhero brand in the world. Storm Storm started as the X-Men's ingénue, a young heroine who was one of the rookie mutants recruited when the original team went missing. Alongside other X-Men mainstays like Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Colossus, Storm rose through the ranks becoming not just a seasoned hero, but a mentor to her fellow mutants, and now serves as the Headmistress of Xavier's school, and the leader of the X-Men. Storm is also the first major female hero of color – a distinction that shouldn't be overlooked, especially considering how important she's remained in both X-Men and Marvel lore. Fans saw a new side of Storm when Alexandra Shipp took over the role of a younger version of the character in 2016' X-Men: Apocalypse, a role she's set to reprise in the film's sequel Dark Phoenix. Invisible Woman Marvel's first superheroine may not have the highest profile of the characters on this list, but Sue Storm set the pace for modern female heroes – and still occupies a fairly unique place in comic books. While its true that early stories didn't exactly serve Sue particularly well, she developed into the heart and soul of the Fantastic Four, serving as Marvel's first family's de facto – and literal – mother. And that may be one of the most crucial aspects of her character. While Sue Storm is powerful in her own right – many writers have said she's got the most raw power of anyone on the FF – she also represents an important aspect of womanhood that many female heroes have sacrificed or had used against them – motherhood. That Sue can serve as one of the most respected heroes in the Marvel Universe (and it's first female hero) while simultaneously raising two children and shepherding the growth of many more through the Future Foundation can't be understated. Plus, it takes a pretty amazing woman to stand up to a blowhard like Reed Richards. Wonder Woman Diana of Themiscyra represents the best of mankind, and of womanhood. Strong, compassionate, fearless, and independent, as Wonder Woman Diana is a pillar of the Justice League and one of the greatest heroes and warriors in the entire DC Universe. And though her real world origins are complex, William Moulton Marston and his collaborators Elizabeth Holloway Marston and Olive Byrne created an equally complex character who would grow to become a feminist icon and the character that almost anyone in the world thinks of when you say “female superhero.

Batman, Spider Man, Iron Man, Ant Man.

Batman, Spider Man, Iron Man, Ant Man.

Capitán Pada #150 Reseña: Ant-man
